Joseph Consacro, Sr.
August 24, 2005
Joseph Consacro, Sr., the head of maintenance for the Cerebral Palsy Association in Rock Hill, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 70.
The son of the late Frank Consacro and Filippa DelAnno Consacro, he was born September 8, 1934 in Staten Island.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Fins, Furs and Feathers Hunting Club in Smallwood.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years: Amelia Vasquez Consacro; a son: Joseph Consacro, Jr. & his wife Barbara; and his beloved granddaughter; Krysten Consacro, all of Rock Hill; a brother: Peter Consacro and his wife Donna of Nashville, TN; sister-in-law: Anna Grace Consacro of Lake Worth, FL; mother-in-law: Josephine Vasquez of Monticello; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his two brothers Sal and Pat Consacro and two sisters Mary Cerrato and Antoinette DeLuca.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, from 6:00 to 9:00pm and on Saturday, August 27 from 11:30am to 12:30pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 27 at 1:00pm at St. Peter's Church of Monticello. Fr. John Tran will officiate.
Burial with military honors will be held in the Sullivan County Veterans cemetery in Liberty, NY.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd, #1010, Rockville MD 20852.

Kim Robin Bober
August 24, 2005
Kim Robin Bober, a former technical adviser for the SYDA Foundation in South Fallsburg and resident of the area, died as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 47.
The daughter of Max Herman Bober and Dolores Roth, Kim was born in Greece on February 7, 1958.
She is survived by her father Max Bober and his wife Gloria of West Virginia; her companion of more than 10 years, Albert Hudson; a brother George Schoen and his wife, Roseann of West Virginia; her sisters Jodi Kane & her husband Jim and Mirian and her husband Alan of Plainview, NY.
Graveside services and burial will be held on Friday, August 26, 2005 at 12:30pm, at the Brotherhood cemetery, Thompsonville Road, Monticello, NY, with Cantor Michael Sturm officiating.
Arrangements are by the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Wurtsboro.

George Anthony Barone
August 20, 2005
George Anthony Barone, a FAA Flight Examiner and owner/operator of the Wurtsboro Airport, died Saturday, August 20, 2005 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, He was 59.
The son of the late Anthony G. Barone and Theresa H. Montvidas Barone, he was born September 26, 1945 in Hackensack, NJ.
He is survived by his wife: Karen Heins Barone, at home; a daughter: Barbara Ann Barone of Monticello & her fiancé Derrick Kelly of Liberty; a brother: Anthony G. Barone, Jr. of Dallas, TX; two sisters: Patricia Barone of Wurtsboro and Roseann Balow Bloom of Phoenix, AZ; a niece and several nephews;
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23, from 6:00 to 9:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 24 at 11:45am at St. Peter’s Church, 264 No. Main Street in Liberty. Msgr. Edward Straub will officiate.
Burial will be held in St. Peter’s cemetery in Liberty.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Peter’s Church, Liberty, NY 12754 or to a charity of one’s choice.

Betty Jean Kessler
August 16, 2005
Betty Jean Kessler of Wurtsboro Hills, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, died Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at her home. She was 56.
The daughter of the late Harry Powers and Ethel DeGroat Powers, she was born October 11, 1948 in Newton, NJ.
Betty was a former home health aide and certified nursing assistant with various nursing homes in New Jersey. She was also an avid Ham radio operator and loved to play guitar and sing country music.
She is survived by her daughter: Karen Jean Kessler of Wurtsboro; two grandchildren: Aaronlee Edward Kessler and Lauren Elizabeth Dunn; three sisters: Barbara Brady, Shirley Powers and Nancy Jones, all of Newton, NJ; her “sons”: Charles Lewis Dunn, Jr., Walter Ludwig Feverstach III and Ryan Bennett; her “daughters”: Debra Dunn and Michele Bennett; her best friend, Ollie; and an abundance of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband: Edward J. Kessler and a sister: Joyce Huttick.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity that supports children’s cancer.
Arrangements are by the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Wurtsboro.

Marie Mennella
July 28, 2005
Marie Mennella, owner/operator of Giovanni’s Restaurant for 14 years, died thursday, July 28, 2005 in Wurtsboro. She was 67.
The daughter of the late Salvatore and Helen Esposito, she was born in Harlem, NY.
Marie was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Wurtsboro and a Mamakating Lioness.
Marie is survived by her husband, Giovanni Mennella. Two sons John of Wurtsboro; Anthony and his wife Jennifer of Wurtsboro. A daughter Maria Ammann and her husband Robert of Williston Park. Three grandchildren Matthew, Michelle, and Nicholas Ammann as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday July 30, 2005 from 7-9 PM at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro and on Sunday July 31, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at the St. Joseph’s Church of Wurtsboro on Monday August 1, 2005 at 10:00AM with the Rev. Peter Madori Officiating.
Burial will be held in the St. Joseph’s cemetery, Wurtsboro.
Arrangements are by the Vaninwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Wurtsboro.

Lawrence Cardini
July 28, 2005
Lawrence Cardini of Monticello left this world on Thursday, July 28, 2005.
He died at his home and we wish him well and know that he is in a better place. He was 62.
The son of Angelo and Norma Battaglia Cardini, he was born March 30, 1943 in Monticello.
Lawrence attended Monticello schools, served briefly in the United States Navy, and resided in Monticello his entire life.
He is survived by his sister: Deana Cardini Roberts and her husband CL Roberts of Houston, TX; a niece: Rachel Roberts of Houston; four cousins: Alice, Bert, and John Picarello, of Monticello; Biff Picarello of San Diego; his steadfast and loving friends Eddie and Joanne Morse along with his beloved mutt ”Lady”; and scores of friends.
His friends knew him as a local character as he made a lot people laugh with his antics and quirky ways. He also loved birds, nature, outdoors and photography.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Forestburgh on Saturday, August 20 at 12:00 noon with the Rev. Ivan Csete Officiating.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to The Friends and Advocates for Mental Health, 14 Pelton Street, Monticello, NY 12701.

Harry L. Gardner
July 23, 2005
Harry L. Gardner, a retired longtime caretaker for the Lake Huntington Summer Community, died Saturday, July 23, 2005 at his home in Monticello. He was 86.
The son of the late Harry O. Gardner & Blanche Kildy Gardner, he was born December 22, 1918 in Maryland, NY.
Harry was veteran of the United States Army, serving in Japan during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts as well as a vestry member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Monticello. He was the widow of both Barbara J. Gardner and Caroline E. Gardner.
He is survived by two sons: Harry R. Gardner of White Sulphur Springs and Murry B. Gardner of Baltimore, MD; two daughters: Frances Abildnes of Swan Lake and Arlie-Ella Bellina of the state of Florida; seven stepdaughters: Cathy Brown, Connie McKenley, Claire Harris, Carol Barry, Cindy Rios, Cheryl Montavo & Christine Breen; 15 Grandchildren: Michelle, Barbara, Howard, Joshua, Anthony, Tara, Amy, Robin, Carlo, David & Benjamin, Colleen, Collette, Clarice and John; Several great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a son, John L. Gardner.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26 from 8:30 am to 10:30am at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning at 11:00am at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 15 St. John Street in Monticello. Rev. Ninon Hutchinson will officiate.
Burial with military honors will be held in the Sullivan Co. Veterans cemetery in Liberty.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 419 East Main Street, Suite 307B, Middletown, NY 10940 or to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 15 St. Jon Street, Monticello, NY 12701.

Helen G. Carayas
July 21, 2005
Helen G. Carayas, a retired commercial real estate associate with Equitable Life Assurance in New York City, died Thursday, July 21, 2005 at her home in Wurtsboro following a long illness. She was 88.
The daughter of the late Egnatz Essman & Helen Serediak Essman, she was born September 10, 1916 in the Bronx.
Following retirement, she and her husband moved from the Bronx to Wurtsboro. Until emphysema limited her activities, she was an active volunteer with Horton Memorial Hospital, the Nutrition Council of the Sullivan Co. Office for the Aging and the American Legion Post #1266 Auxiliary. Mrs. Carayas was also a member of the Mamakating Senior Citizens and was named the 1991 Mamakating Senior of the Year. Together with her husband, she was a member of the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Middletown. She was loved by all.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 wonderful years: Stephen; a son: Steve & his wife Noreen; a daughter: Catherine; two grandchildren: Paul & Christopher; and several nieces & nephews;
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, July 25 at 10:00am at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 2250 Goshen Turnpike in Middletown. Fr. Chris Telios will officiate.
Burial will be held in Woodlawn cemetery, Bronx.
Memorial contributions may be made Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
Arrangements are by the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Wurtsboro.

REBECCA L. WRIGHT

Mahwah, N.J. - Rebecca L. Wright of Mahwah, NJ passed away August 13, 2004 at the age of 27. Born in Ridgewood, NJ she is survived by her parents, Charles and Beverly (Hopper) Wright; her uncle Keith Hopper; her best friend, Sabrina Boyd- Hanjra; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Rebecca's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 12 noon at the Scarr Funeral Home, Inc, Route 202, Suffern, with the Rev. Drinker officiating. Burial will follow at Airmont cemetery in Airmont. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.

ROSEMARIE A. GIRON

Highland, N.Y. - Rosemarie A. Giron, a 27-year resident of Highland, and an employee at Hudson Valley Rehabilitation and Extended Care Center in Highland, died August 13, 2004 at home. She was 52. The daughter of Joseph Krivola and Frances Burns, she was born May 31, 1952 in Connecticut. Survivors include her husband, Jacobo Giron, at home; three daughters, Jolene Tallerdy of Highland, Emilia Quinn of Wallkill, and Frances Goode of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Stephanie Quinn, Timothy Quinn, Nicole Goode, and Dennis Devine III; one sister, Juanita Dickerson of Florida; several nieces and one nephews. There will be no callings hours. Services and burial are private. Arrangements by the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main St., Highland.
