Winona F. Shearer, 95, of 10 Rob Roy St., Cortland, died Thursday. Born in Canisteo, she graduated from Canisteo High School and received a nursing degree from Alfred University. She was a private duty nurse and worked at Bethesda Hospital in Hornell before going to work in 1940 for Cortland Memorial Hospital. She was a member of United Presbyterian Church and its Women's Association. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, William, died in 2000.Survivor: A daughter, Elaine Boehme of Framingham, Mass. Services: 1 p.m. today at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. Burial, Glenwood Cemetery. Eileen R. O'Rahilly Ward, 94, of 97 Lewis St., Auburn, died Sunday. She was born in County Cork, Ireland. She was a sales associate at H.R. Wait & Co. in Auburn for more than 30 years. She was a member of John F. Kennedy Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Ladies Auxiliary in Auburn and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Auburn. Her husband, Peter P., died in 1994; two sons also died previously, Peter D. in 1990 and Thomas J. in March.Survivors: Three daughters, Mary E. Burke of Buffalo, Sheila W. Dyer of Arlington, Va., and Catherine J. Heapy of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Joan Cuff of Auburn and Sheila Flynn of County Kerry, Ireland; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Genevieve M. Meloling

Genevieve Marie Kraft Meloling, 85, of Salisbury, Md., died Saturday. Born in Syracuse, she lived on Delmar Place in Lyncourt more than 45 years before moving to Salisbury in 1995. She worked at Ed Guth Hobby Shop on South Salina Street in Syracuse many years. She and her husband owned Friendly Corner grocery store chain. She had also worked at Agway in DeWitt and retired from Mutual of New York in Syracuse. She did volunteer work at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. Her husband of 33 years, Lawrence J. Sr., died previously.Survivors: Three daughters, Kaaren Kundell of Salisbury, Linda Kundell of Watkinsville, Ga., and Jessica Kopp of Oxford, Ohio; a son, Lawrence Jr. of Rowlett,  Texas; a brother, Frederick Kraft of Syracuse; a sister, Mildred Carroll of Central Square; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Services: At St. Daniel's Church to be announced. Burial, Liverpool Cemetery. Bounds Funeral Home, Salisbury, has arrangements.

Sarah Elizabeth Adams, 80, of 116 E. Castle St., Syracuse, died Thursday at Vivian Teal Howard Residential Health Care Facility. Born in Marion, S.C., she attended Marion public schools. She retired in 1966 from Continental Can Co. after 24 years. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church for 62 years and was a deaconess, member of its Gospel Choir and past president of its Women's Circle No. 8. She was a member of Prince Hall Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, Clifford, died in 1967. Survivors: Three daughters, Beverly Edwards, Betty A. Adams and Linda Adams, all of Syracuse; a brother, Fred Jordan of Syracuse; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. He retired in 1985 as a stationary engineer for state Agricultural and Technical College at Morrisville after 21 years and had worked at Bingly Milk Plant, Nelson Cheese Factory and Brown's Dairy in Cazenovia. He was a member of Nelson United Methodist Church. Survivors: His wife of 55 years, the former Shirley Mason; a son, Thomas E. of Cazenovia; two sisters, Sylvia Austin of New Woodstock and Clara Ammann of Cazenovia. She retired from YMCA Restaurant and had worked at other restaurants. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church. Her husband, Edmund J., died in 1967. Survivors: Two daughters, Marion Rawlins of Fort  Washington, Md., and Anne Smith of Liverpool; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Joseph Lewis, 84, of 324  Woods Road, Apt. 12, Solvay, died Monday. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Vocational High School. He retired in 1980 as a machinist at Allied Chemical Corp. after 43 years and was president of United Steelworkers Local 12457. He was president of Syracuse Senior District Golf Association and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Stanley Pennock Post and Solvay-Geddes Veterans. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and received a Bronze Star with four oak leaf clusters. His wife, Mary, died in 1962. Survivors: A daughter, Joan Trusilo of Manlius; two sons, Joseph W. of Pompey and Robert H. of Syracuse; a sister, Mary Brown of Palm Desert,  Calif.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild. Services: 8:30 a.m. Friday at Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours, 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 1628 W. Genesee St., Syracuse.
