MR. BENNETT A. CICCONE SR.

Town of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Mr. Bennett A. Ciccone, Sr., a 42 year resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, formerly of White Plains, NY, died October 15, 2004 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 81. Born in Hartford, CT on December 11, 1922, he was the son of Brandolino and Filomena Privatalia Ciccone. He was CEO of Ben Ciccone, Inc in Poughkeepsie, a family business for 75 years. He was a graduate of White Plains High School and attended Manhattan College. Ben proudly served as Chairman of the Board of the Construction Industry Council (C.I.C.) of Westchester and the Hudson Valley for over 13 years. He was a member of Dutchess Golf and Country Club; received American Heart Assoc. Man of the Year Award 2000; Boys Town of Italy Man of the Year Award 1993 and Lifetime Achievement Award from Construction Industry Council 1994. Ben also served on the Board of Trustees for management on several Local Unions Pension and Welfare Funds, Training Funds and on the Board of Directors of the Downstate Alliance of Heavy Construction. In addition, on the side of management, Ben sat on several committees for contract negotiations with local unions throughout the region for over 15 years. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. He married Rosetta F. Gullo, who survives at home, December 4, 1949 in Mt. Carmel Church, White Plains, NY. Survivors include his wife at home; three children: Deborah King of Chantilly, VA, Brandon Ciccone and his wife Lenore of Wappingers Falls and Bennett A. Ciccone Jr. and his wife Paula of Hyde Park; one sister, Elda Treppeda of Colorado; one brother, Fred Ciccone of Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren: Keri Kelly and her husband John, Daren King, Tara, Brandon Jr. and Natalie Ciccone; two great grandchildren: David and Michael Kelly; three aunts: Adeline Ianetta, Mary Ianetta and Angelina Ciccone. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Calling hours are from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday at Straub Funeral Home, Inc., 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 12 Noon on Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Clinton St., Wappingers Falls, NY. Burial will take place at St. Mary's cemetery. MICHAEL JOSEPH MARTINE

Huguenot, N.Y. - Michael Joseph Martine, a lifetime area resident, died Saturday, October 16, 2004, at Bon Secours Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 86 years old. The son of the late Peter and Antoinette Marie Bannano Martine, he was born December 17, 1917 in Middletown. Michael had many accomplishments in his 86 years. In 1940 he opened a Shell Service Station in Pine Bush and later worked as a share cropper for Don L. Bates farm in Pine Island. In 1950 he moved to Middletown and opened a roadside diner and fruit stand which he had developed into a major repair shop, salvage yard and service center. At the time Rt 211 was known as the "Million Dollar Mile" and Michael was one of the first business owners on that strip. He remained at that location until the new Rt. 211 was built. He then opened a Gulf Station across from Walt's Diner on Rt 211 and a parts store on North Street at which time he retired in 1975 and moved to Florida. He refused to stay retired and in 1976 he opened a service center in Seminole, FL. Michael was also very involved in the building of the Victory Speedway, which is now the Orange County Fair Speedway, and was one of the original stock car owners. A family statement reads: "Pop went from being a share cropper in Pine Island to being a prosperous businessman. He was always active right to the moment of his passing. He will always be remembered for his spirit and ability to teach others." He is survived by one son, Michael Charles Martine of Middletown; three daughters, Carol Ann Martine of Middletown, Barbara Martine of Atlantic City, NJ and Maureen Palyo of Circleville; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother Phil Martine of Wallkill; one sister, Rose Dunizit-Martine of Ocala, FL. As well as his longtime friend, Doris Fedorka and several nieces and nephews. Michael's wife, Dorothy, predeceased him in February 1995. He was also predeceased by five brothers, Joseph, Charles, Peter, Fred, Anthony Martine and one sister Frances Saxton-Martine. Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday Oct. 19th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A funeral service of remembrance will be celebrated at 7 pm at the funeral home, Fr. Patrick McGuigan, O. Carm. will officiate. Cremation will be private and at the convenience of the family. Michael's ashes will be interred in the family plot in St. Joseph's cemetery, Middletown at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in Michael's name may be made to The American Cancer Society, 419 East Main Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.

TERRY M. RIKER

New Hampton, N.Y. - Terry M. Riker, a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Campbell Hall Nursing Home. He was 50. The son of the late Charles H. and Dorothy Culver Riker, Terry was born February 26, 1954 in Middletown. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1974 and was a medical supply orderer for Cardinal Health in Montgomery. Terry is survived by one sister, Sharon Cheatham and her husband Donald of Smithville Flats, NY; one brother, Charles Riker and his wife Gayle of Port Orange, FL and many nieces and nephews. Cremation was private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the directions of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.

JENNIE BEZZARO

Highland, N.Y. - Jennie Bezzaro a lifelong resident of Highland, and retired from Countess Mara in Highland in 1992, died October 21, 2004 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 73. The daughter of Anthony Bezzaro and Antoinette Sandrella, she was born April 26, 1931 in Highland. She was a member of St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Highland. Survivors include two sisters, Mildred Ruggiero of Newburgh and Marie Pape of Highland; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Jerome Bezzaro; and one sister, Katie Franciamore. Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main St., Highland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Highland. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery.

LILLIAN J. BRONSON

Washingtonville, N.Y. - Lillian J. Bronson, of Washingtonville, homemaker, and a longtime resident of the area Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at Montgomery Nursing Home, Montgomery. She was 90. She was born March 5, 1914 in Brooklyn. She is the widow of Randolph W. Bronson. Survivors include one son, Randolph Bronson III of Washingtonville; one daughter, Patricia Black of Pleasantville, NY; one sister, Lillian Morgan of Florida; one granddaughter, Nathaly Schwarm and her husband Philippe of Geneva, Switzerland; one great grandson, Christopher Schwarm, also several nieces. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 23, 2004 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 23 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be in Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY. Middletown, N.Y. - Rafael Luis Santiago, of Middletown, passed away Tuesday, October 19th, 2004 at Orange Regional Medical Center at Horton. He was 57. Born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico on August 3, 1947, to Wilson and Dolores Berrios Santiago. He is survived by 3 sons: Rafael Luis Santiago Jr., Richard Santiago Sr. husband of Maria of Waterbury, CT and Reynaldo Santiago of Middletown; 2 sisters: Enedina Santiago of Puerto Rico and Lydia Colon wife of Oscar of Middletown; five brothers: Antonio Santiago, Adalberto Santiago husband of Zaida of Liberty, Wilson Santiago Jr husband of Milagros and Manuel Santiago husband of Lydia of Ellenville, and Carmelo Santiago husband of Mary of Middletown; five grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. HAROLD DAKTAR I

Middletown, N.Y. - Harold Daktar I, of Middletown, New York passed away Tuesday, October 19th, 2004 at Orange Regional Medical Center at Horton. He was 69. Mr. Daktar was born in Hicksville, New York on January 25, 1935, the son of Alfred and Hazel Wilson Daktar. He was the widower of Donna Lee Lybolt Daktar. He was a retired Attendant at Middletown Psychiatric Center Middletown, NY. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by daughter, Nora Daktar of Middletown; son, Harold Daktar II of Middletown; daughter, Barbara Conklin and her companion Michael Doty of Howells; daughter, Susan Panarno and her husband Joseph of the State of Florida; cousin Adolph Siena, Syosset, NY; grandson Harold Daktar III, Middletown; grandson Michael Doty, Howells; grandson Joseph Panarno, State of Florida; granddaughter Stephanie Panaro, State of Florida. He was predeceased by his brother Alfred Daktar. Services for Harold will be private at his request. Following cremation, burial will be in Wallkill cemetery, Phillipsburg, NY. EDWINA BABCOCK

Spring Glen, N.Y. - Edwina Babcock of Spring Glen, a resident for three months, formerly of High Pointe Apts., Newburgh, and a homemaker, died October 20, 2004 in Kingston Hospital. She was 87. The daughter of Marion Stanley and Ida Hilyer Wilson, she was born November 6, 1916 in Autaugh County, AL. She was the widow of Gilbert Hugh Babcock. Survivors include three daughters, Claudia Gooler of Ellenville, Jean Wilhelm of Andrews, S.C. and Edwina Torres of Stony Point; her sister, Bernice Wright of Alabama; her brother, Stanley Marce Wilson of the state of Florida; seven grandchildren, Venus Mendez, Tammy Belowch, Tiffany Bermudez, Marceline Castro, Marcelo Alvarez, Troy Wilhelm, and Neil Gooler; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. STANLEY BADENDYCK

Montgomery, N.Y. - Stanley Badendyck, of Montgomery, a carpenter and longtime area resident, died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 in Montgomery, NY. He was 94. The son of John & Gunda Ericksen Badendyck, he was born, December 11, 1909 in West Orange, NJ. He was a member of Leptondale Bible Church; Walden, Montgomery and Crawford Senior Citizens; helped start Wesley Hall Seniors; was appointed to the advisory board of Orange County Office of the Aging. He is the widower of Anna M. Badendyck. Survivors include two sons: J. Lawrence Badendyck and his wife, Cynthia of New Paltz, NY and Douglas Badendyck and his wife, Cindy of Montgomery; one daughter Ruth Badendyck Peck of Oak Park IL; six grandsons: Brian Peck, Eric Peck and Gregg Peck, Jeff Badendyck and his wife Kristyn, Brett Badendyck and his wife Sherri and Thor Badendyck; one great granddaughter, Averey Badendyck. He is predeceased by a brother, Grant Badendyck and a sister, Ruth Badendyck. Monroe, N.Y. - Anthony Grillo, 25-year area resident, and a computer analyst for Tyco Industries, White Plains, died, Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Orange County Residential Health Care Facility, Goshen. He was 51. The son of Carmelo and Angela DiPilato Grillo, he was born February 15, 1953 in Brooklyn. He was a survivor of the Andrea Doria and formed a website for the Andrea Doria for historical preservation. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Monroe. Survivors include his wife, Debra Kaczmarczyk Grillo, at home; daughter, Jeanine M. Grillo, at home; parents, Carmelo and Angela Grillo of Palm Beach, Fla.; sisters, Vivian Grillo of Saddle Brook, N.J., Rosemarie Navas of Palm Beach, Fla.; sister-in-law, Irene Hiltunen-Miller of Danbury, Conn.; nieces and nephews. Middletown, N.Y. - Heaven has a new angel...Margaret Elizabeth Horrevoets Talmadge passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2004. She was 97. Margaret was born on January 12, 1907 in Dwarfskill to Edward and Bertha Donnelly Bunton. She was the widow of George J. Horrevoets and Albert Talmadge. She is survived by two sons and three daughters, Benjamin Horrevoets and his wife, Lori, of Bloomingburg, Joseph Horrevoets and Sheryl Garrin of Middletown, Alberta Green and her husband, Richard, of Howells, Bertha Pendleton of Montgomery and Linda Crawford of Middletown; and her daughter-in-law, Lillian Horrevoets. She is also survived by two brothers and three sisters, Charles Bunton of the state of Florida, David Brown of Schenectady, Mary Arena, Barbara McNamara of Middletown and Elsie Pizza Candito of the state of Florida; as well as 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Horrevoets; two sisters, Ethel Modjurlsky and Shirley Walters; two brothers, Arthur and Gordon Bunton and her granddaughter, Tammy Wanamaker. Port Jervis, N.Y. - Grace Lehn, a life-long area resident, and a retired Inventory Supervising Clerk, for Kolmar Labs, Inc., Port Jervis, died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at Bristol Glenn Health Care, Newton, N.J. She was 96. The daughter of the late George Berthel Dilling and Mary Evans Dilling VanAuken, she was born October 17, 1908 in Brooklyn. She was first married to the late Cecil Davis and secondly to the late Benjamin Lehn. She was a member of The Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis; a member of the choir of the church; and a member of River Valley Chapter #33, Order of the Eastern Star, Port Jervis. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Tangen and her husband, Robert, of Garfield, N.J.; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Davis of Sparrowbush; five grandchildren, David, Jonathan and Ronald Tangen, April Dudko and Jean Dow; seven great grandchildren; and one niece, Mary Decker. She was predeceased by her son William Davis; her grandson, Eric Tangen; her sister, Jessie Courtright; and her brother, John Chisholm. STANLEY BUCHALSKI

Chester, N.Y. - Stanley Buchalski of Chester, a longtime resident of the area, having retired from Chester Cable, died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at Orange Regional Medical Center at Arden Hill in Goshen. He was 84. The son of William and Angela Zlenicki Buchalski, he was born on April 21, 1920. A veteran, Mr. Buchalski served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1167. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Pamela Buchalski at home; his sons, Robert Buchalski and his wife, Dorothy, of Florida; and Richard Buchalski and his wife, Patricia of Putnam Valley; and his daughters, Jerilyn Cavanagh of Chester and Pamela Kaarlsen of Chester. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Chester Buchalski and Charles Buchalski and his sisters, Mae Blair, Tessie Harter, Sophie Andryshak and Stella Heffner. JOHN F. ABBRUSCATO

New Windsor, N.Y. - John F. Abbruscato, a lifetime resident of New Windsor, entered into rest Wednesday, October 20, 2004 in Cornwall Hospital. He was 83. Son of the late Frank and Geraldine Amia Abbruscato, John was born April 23, 1921 in Newburgh. John proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1942-45, where he received the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was the founder and past president of Royal Foods in Newburgh, which is still run by his family today. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, American Legion in New Windsor, and the Italian Club. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed 62 wonderful years of marriage to his wife Mickey. His favorite pastime's were playing pinochle and enjoying his wife's macaroni. John will be missed greatly. Survivors include his loving wife, Marie "Mickey" Abbruscato, whom he married on January 5, 1941; his sons, John Abbruscato and his wife Anne of New Windsor, Joseph Abbruscato of Phoenix, AZ, Thomas Abbruscato and his wife Desiree of Newburgh, and Frank Ceriello and his wife Kathleen of New Windsor; a sister, Florence Lander of Georgia; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, Charles, Daniel, Joseph and Michael Abbruscato, and two sisters, Beatrice Weitzer and Katherine Pettine. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 22 at the Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Saturday, October 23 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary cemetery, New Windsor. .

ANGELO FRANK RUSSO

Zephyrhills, Fla. - Angelo Frank Russo, 82, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away October 15, 2004 in Zephyrhills, Fla. Mr. Russo was born March 9, 1922 in Maybrook to Nicholas and Isabell (Capone) Russo. Angelo relocated to Zephyrhills from Coldenham in 1982. He was a veteran of the Marines serving in WWII, a member of the Zephyrhills VFW Post 8154 and the VFW Post in Orange County, the Town of Montgomery Police Department, and Local Union #17, a former Fire Chief of Coldenham Fire Department, and member of the Scotch Club of Orange. The family statement reads: "He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, husband, and great-grandfather." Angelo still found time to always be there to be of service to his community. Angelo was a former member of our Lady of the Lake Chapel, an affiliation of St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh. He is survived by his wife, Rita Russo of Zephyrhills, Fla.; one son, Gary Russo of Bushnell, Fla.; one daughter, Kathy Beagle and her husband, Charles of Zephyrhills, Fla., one step-son, Billy Denniston of Germay; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Nicholas Russo and his wife, Barbara, of Thomasville, N.C.; one sister, Theresa Conklin and her husband, Bradley, of Maybrook; and many nieces and nephews. Angelo was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth Thompson; and a step-daughter, Joan and husband, Mike Donohue; and sister and brother-in-law, Felicia and Charles Davidson. A Memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2004 at Whitfield Funeral Home, with Father George Rozycki officiating. Interment followed at 1 p.m. at Florida National cemetery. A Memorial service will be held for him on Tuesday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lady of the Lake Chapel on Rt. 52 in Newburgh. Funeral arrangements by Whitfield Funeral Home, Zephyrhills, Fla.

BENNY B. BEZKOROWAJNY

Monroe, N.Y. - Benny B. Bezkorowajny, 89, a 15 year area resident, and a retired inspector for New York City Transit Authority, Brooklyn, died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at VA Medical Center, Bronx. He was 89. The son of the late Michael Bezkorowajny and Anastasia Bezkorowajny, he was born January 27, 1915 in Brooklyn. He was a decorated World War II hero who made the invasion in Normandy with the Army 2nd Ranger Battalion on D-Day. He attended Syracuse University, and won the AAU High Jump Championship. He was an honorary member of the New York Athletic Club. He was an avid golfer and the recipient of many golfing awards. A decorated war hero awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, two Purple Heart Medals with Oak Leaf Cluster, American Theatre Ribbon, Word War II Victory Ribbon, and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars, a Silver Star, Medaille du Jubile and many other prestigious awards. The family believed this quote by the late President, Dwight David Eisenhower, best described Benny, "The qualities of a great man are vision, integrity, courage, understanding, the power of articulation, and profundity of character." Survivors include his wife, Ann G. Stachow Bezkorowajny, at home; daughter, Gail Bezkorowajny of Monroe; son, Benjamin B. and wife, Carol Bezkorowajny of Monroe; and grandchildren, Bridget and Brian Bezkorowajny of Monroe. Friends may call on Friday, October 22, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Smith, Seaman and Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 23 at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe. The Rev. Carl D. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic cemetery, Hamptonburgh. KATHRYN McCLUSKEY

New Windsor and Gardiner, N.Y. - Kathryn "Kaffy" McCluskey on Thursday, October 28, 2004 rested into the arms of her Lord after her stay in Rosary Hill Hospice. Born in Bronx, she resided for 20 years in New Windsor and Gardiner. She was 46. Born October 19, 1958, the daughter of the late Frederick Ringel and stepmother, Jean. She is survived by her soul mate, Paul; and her two sons, Kevin and Freddy. Her adopted family, Tami and Mark, Ellen, Patty, Kelly and Mark, Pop, the boys and innumerable friends will miss her dearly. Visitation will be held Monday, November 1 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Father John Vondras will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery, Newburgh. ANTHONY P. COLAIACOMO

Bloomingburg, N.Y. - Anthony P. Colaiacomo, retired from I.B.M. in Poughkeepsie, died October 26, 2004 at home. He was 53. The son of Phillip and Hilda Weber Colaiacomo, he was born January 11, 1951 in Germany. He was a member of the Walden Sportsman Club. Survivors include his parents; his wife, Ann Rizzo Colaiacomo at home; three brothers, John Colaiacomo of Connecticut, David Colaiacomo of Texas, Kenneth Klinger of Oregon; two sisters, Lucile Christensen of Montana, Robin Klinger of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 4 at Woodlawn cemetery in New Windsor. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Donations may be made to Hospice, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550. Arrangements under the care of Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home Inc.
