ALICE McCORMACK COOKE

Monticello, N.Y. - Alice McCormack Cooke, the widow of former Chief Judge of New York, Lawrence H. Cooke, and longtime resident of the area, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 91. The daughter of the late Dr. Edward P. McCormack and Anna Cahill McCormack, she was born September 16, 1913 in Albany. Alice was a graduate of Miss Quinns and the Academy of the Holy Names; and a member of St. Peter's Church in Monticello. Survivors include her two sons, Edward Cooke and his wife Colleen of Monticello, and George L. Cooke II and his wife Karen of Rock Hill; her daughter, Mary Lauren Opie and her husband Richard of Albany; nine grandchildren, Lawrence, Austin, Meghan, Alice Kelly, Lauren, Courtney, Alice, Guy and Catherine; five great-grandchildren, Sennett, Teddy, Cassie Rose, Zachary and Alexandria; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth McArdle of Albany and Peggy Ann Mathieson of Saratoga Springs; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 12 from 5 - 9 pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 13 at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello. Burial will be in the Rock Ridge cemetery, Monticello. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Peter's Church, 10 Liberty Street, Monticello, NY 12701; or to the Mount St. Mary College Building Fund, 330 Powell Ave., Newburgh, NY 12550-3494. VERA CORNELIUS WEALE

Middletown, N.Y. - Vera Cornelius Weale, a lifelong resident of Middletown, and first operator with The Answering Service, later known as Tel-Rad and former co-owner, working hand in hand with her late husband, Howard W. Weale in the Weale and Startup Music Store in Middletown, died Monday, November 8th, at her home in Middletown. She was 100 years old. Vera was born March 6, 1904 in Middletown, N.Y. to Jessie Louise Bonham and William Taylor Cornelius. Vera was married on November 15, 1924 to the late Howard W. Weale. Vera was a devout member of Grace Episcopal Church, where she was the first woman to serve on the Vestry. She was a member of the Episcopal Church Women, a Licensed Lay Reader, Chalice Bearer, and Acolyte. A member of the American Order of St. John of Jerusalem, President of the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of New York from 1965 to 1971. Vera was the first lay woman to receive the Bishop's Cross. Vera was also a member of Queen Esther Chapter No. 163, Order of the Eastern Star, American Lung Association, Red Cross Nurses Aide during WWII, Lenten Sewing Club, Girl Scout Commissioner, and the Daughters of the American Revolution Minisink Chapter. Vera loved her family, her church and she loved to travel. In her lifetime she visited 49 countries and experienced many things. She has seen the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin in China, the Pyramids in Egypt, and now she is on the last journey of her remarkable life. We love her, we will miss her and we wish her the most wonderful journey yet. Vera is survived by her son William Wallace Weale Sr. and his wife Beatrice of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren: Joanne Towner and her husband Royce, Barbara LaBagh and her husband Thomas, and William W. Weale Jr. and his wife Sheri. Vera also has eleven great grandchildren: Thomas Loiodice and his wife Brandy, Alyssa Garcia and her husband Barry, Grace Towner, Royce Towner III, Tammie Gagliano and her husband Vincent, Bonnie LaBagh, Thomas LaBagh Jr. and his wife Kristy, Steven Weale, Guy Weale, Christopher Weale, Nichole Weale and six great-great grandchildren, Thomas and Breanna Loiodice, Julia and Katelin Garcia, Carson and Bobby Gagliano and several nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by her husband, Howard W. Weale, her much loved daughter, Barbara Weale and brother William B. Cornelius. There will be no public visitation hours at the funeral home. Vespers of the Faithful Departed will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday evening, November 14th in the Grace Episcopal Church, 58 North St., Middletown, NY. A Requiem Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 10 a.m., Monday, November 15th in the Grace Episcopal Church, 58 North St., Middletown, NY. Father John Warfel will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in the Wallkill cemetery, Phillipsburg, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 58 North St., Middletown, NY 10940, Easter Seals, 213 South Congress Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33409 or to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550. OLGA MARY JEFFERSON

Newburgh, N.Y. - Olga Mary Jefferson of Newburgh, NY, a retired local Seamstress, entered into rest on November 21, 2004 at Poughkeepsie. She was 78. Born October 8, 1926 in Walden, NY, died was the daughter of Oscar and Ida Johnson Schaefer. Survivors include one sister, Dorothy King of New Jersey; two nephews: Greg King of New Jersey and Gary King of Connecticut; one niece, Deborah Mushock of New Jersey, several other nieces and nephews. Cremation will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Wallkill Valley cemetery. LYDIA BENNETT

Monticello, N.Y. - Lydia Bennett, a longtime area resident, died on Monday, November 22, 2004 at Albany Medical Center. She was 65. The daughter of William and Lydia Kirkwood, she was born on February 14, 1939 in Riverhead, NY. Survivors include her sister, Ellen Catron of Desert Hot Springs, CA; three cousins, Linda Shaton, David Kirkwood and Katherine Kirkwood, all of Ellicott City, MD and all her friends at Sullivan County ARC. NELL DE LAURA

Warwick, N.Y. - Nell De Laura, of Warwick, formerly Forked River, died on November 22, 2004 at Schervier Pavilion. She was 88 years old. Born on November 11, 1916 in New York City, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Mazzari Rigoni. She was married to the late Stephen De Laura. Mrs. De Laura was a secretary with the Englewood, New Jersey Board of Education. She is survived by two daughters, Michele De Laura of Warwick, NY and Denise Ellsworth of Troy, Mich.; and five grandchildren, Sean, Scott, Jennifer, Vanessa, and Bethany. Visiting will be from 1-2 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2004 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. BETTY BELL HOUSTON

Nashville, TN, Formerly of Goshen, N.Y. - Betty Bell Houston of Nashville, formerly of Goshen, died Sunday, November 21, 2004 in Nashville, TN. She was 68. The daughter of Clarence and Mayonna Osbourne Bailey, she was born January 10, 1936 in Crystal Springs, NY. She was the widow of Robert Max Houston. Survivors include her sons: Mark Houston and Bob Houston, both of Nashville, TN; her brother, John Logan of Fairfield, CT, as well as her nephew, Mark Houston of Kingston Springs, TN and her niece Michelle Houston of Nashville. DOROTHY ZUCKERMAN

Monroe, N.Y. - Dotty Zuckerman, 87, passed away Thursday, November 18th, 2004 at Arden Hill Hospital. She was born in New York City on January 30, 1917 and was a resident of Monroe for the past 58 years. She is survived by her devoted, loving husband Leonard; children, Adrienne and Bernard Ascher, Irving and Dale Zuckerman, Alan and Robin Zuckerman; grandchildren, Jennifer and Arthur Fisher, David and Allison Ascher, Jaime and Jonathan Zimmerman, Brett Zuckerman, Ashley Zuckerman, Russell Zuckerman, Justin Zuckerman; and her great granddaughter, Maya Emily Ascher. Her nieces Irva Badami, Harma Stahl and their children as well as many other nieces, nephews and dear friends, will also cherish her memory. Her steadfast devotion to family and community will be forever missed. Hurleyville, N.Y. - Ana Maria Quinones of Hurleyville, died on Monday, November 22, 2004 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 25. The daughter of Arturo and Susan Lewis Quinones, she was born on July 21, 1979 in Harris, New York. Family statement: "Ana was a very loving person who loved everyone she met and everyone loved her. She was a Cashier at Velero in Monticello, New York. Ana Maria leaves behind her mother, Susan Quinones and stepfather, Herman Failing both of Hurleyville; two brothers, Arturo and Matthew Quinones, of Hurleyville; two sisters, Rosemary and Christi Quinones of Hurleyville; her loving best friend, Rebecca Konikowski of Hurleyville; her companion, John Wood of Hurleyville; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Main Street, Woodbourne, NY 12788. CARL M. FELLMER

Little Egg Harbor, N.J. - Carl M. Fellmer, age 80, of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., passed away November 20, 2004 at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin, N.J. Born in Jersey City, N.J., he resided in Harrington Park, N.J., moving here 15 years ago. Mr. Fellmer was a Vice President of the Money Store. He was a member of the United States Army Air Force, serving during WWII. He was a member of the Jersey City Kiwanis Club, the Jersey City Chamber of Commerce, and the N.J. Banking Assoc. in Jersey City. He was a communicant at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Tuckerton, N.J. He is survived by his wife, Elsa (nee Hofler); daughters, Elizabeth (John) Krantz, Joan Stabile, Lori Fellmer, and Kristine (Frank) Palermo; brother, Frank (Valerie) Fellmer; sisters, Catherine (Edward) Grant and Margaret Soule; six grandsons; one granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Wednesday, November 24 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Main St., Tuckerton, N.J. Burial will follow in the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Huguenot, N.Y. - Lottie V. Storms, a resident of the area for many years, retired from Novelty Slipper Co., and retired owner of Pine Grove Rest Home in Huguenot, died at Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty on Sunday, November 21, 2004. She was 93. The daughter of Vernon Austin and Nellie Horton Austin, she was born December 10, 1910 in Massachusetts. She was a member of Port Jervis Salvation Army Corp.; served at the Soup Kitchen and continued ringing the Christmas bells for many years for the Salvation Army Corp.; and was a lifetime member of AHRC of Middletown. Survivors include her two daughters, Margaret Phillips and husband, Charles, of Huguenot, and Janet Storms of Liberty; one son, John Storms and wife, Delores, of Huguenot; two brothers, Frank Wright of Port Jervis and Robert Wright of Milford, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 24 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. FRIEDA KRAUPSE FISHER

Liberty, N.Y. - Frieda Krauspe Fisher, a homemaker and lifetime area resident passed away at her home in Liberty on Sunday November 21, 2004 after a short illness. She was 92. The daughter of the late Reinhold and Pauline Krauspe, she was born on April 20, 1912 in New York City. She was the widow of Carlyle P. Fisher who died on August 5, 1975. Frieda was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Liberty and was also a member of the Liberty Belles - Sullivan County Cooperative Extension. A family statement reads: "Frieda's first love was china painting which she did right up to the time of death." Survivors include one son, Stephen Fisher of Liberty; one daughter, Louise Sawchuk and her husband John of Grahamsville; 5 grandchildren, John Sawchuk of Swan Lake, Cynthia McKenna of Grahamsville, Cody Fisher of Callicoon, Wade Sawchuk of Liberty and Jill Petrocci of North Carolina; 2 great-grandchildren, Margaret (Maggie) Sawchuk and Kane Sawchuk and several nieces and nephews. A son, Carlyle Fisher and a daughter, Diane Alventosa, predeceased her. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday November 24, 2004 at the Liberty cemetery at 10 AM with Rev. MRS. ARLINE A. EWANCIW

Town of Greenville, N.Y. - Mrs. Arline A. Ewanciw of the Town of Greenville, NY, a former telephone operator and lifelong homemaker and resident of the area for most of her life, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 21, 2004 in the presence of her family. She was 80. She was born January 8, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Herbert and the late Mae Hummer Hoffritz. She was a member of Holy Cross R.C. Church, So. Centerville, NY and she was a former Greenville 4-H leader. Surviving are her husband, John E. Ewanciw at home; son John H. Ewanciw and his wife Sherry of E. Freetown, NY; five daughters: Mary Jo Wagner and her husband Darryl, Elizabeth Manning and her husband David, Lorraine Brink and her husband Joseph, Dolores Degnan and her husband Andrew, all of Greenville Township and Susan Ewanciw of Bullville, NY; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Liberty, N.Y. - Ethel I. Stewart of Liberty, NY, a homemaker and lifelong area resident, died Sunday, November 21, 2004 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 80. The daughter of the late Leona C. Husch, she was born August 5, 1924 in Livingston Manor, NY. Ehtel was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Liberty, she had been a member of the Liberty Senior Citizens, and she had been a member of the Town of Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Corp. where she served as secretary for many years. Survivors include her devoted husband of fifty-nine years, Robert P. Stewart, at home; a son, Paul A. Stewart and his wife Virginia of Pine City, NY; three daughters: Linda McAuley and her husband Jack of Yulan, NY, Frances Stewart of Woodridge, NY and Susan DeCastro and her husband James of West Islip, NY; six grandchildren: Robert W. Stewart, Mark A. McAuley, Theresa Stewart, Melanie Hansen, William DeCastro and Matthew DeCastro; three great grandchildren: Haylie McAuley, Calob Stewart and Jack Hansen and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday (today), November 23, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. EDWIN J. JASINSKI SR.

High Falls, N.Y. - Edwin J. Jasinski Sr., 49, of Mohonk Road, died Saturday, November 20, 2004 at Kingston Hospital. He was born in Frankfort, Germany, September 4, 1955, a son of John J. Jasinski and the late Margaret H. Dalton. He was also the stepson of the late William T. Dalton. He graduated from John A. Coleman High School in 1973, and from SUNY at Delhi in 1975 with an A.A.S. degree in Civil Technology. He also attended Clarkson University. He spent the past 30 years employed with his brothers, at the family owned business, Johnny on the Spot Disposal Service Inc. in High Falls. He had also managed and coached the Rondout Valley Little League team, the Braves, and the Rondout Valley Babe Ruth team sponsored by the Lions Club. He was a life member of the High Falls Fire Department. He spent many years playing softball with the High Falls team, Pier Power. He had a love for the game of baseball and an even greater devotion to his team, the New York Yankees. In addition to his father of Cambridge, Md., he is survived by his longtime companion, who became his wife, September 21, 2001, Kathleen R. Davis-Jasinski; a son, Edwin J. Jasinski Jr., of High Falls, three brothers, John A. Jasinski of Olive Bridge, , Michael W. Jasinski of High Falls and William D. Dalton of Woodstock; two sisters, Sue Ellen Jordan, of Rosendale, and Margaret A. Koonz, of High Falls. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A brother, Thomas W. Dalton, died in 1973. The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday from the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., Route 32, Rosendale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Church, Rosendale. The Rev. Andrew Florez will officiate. Interment will be in St. Peter's cemetery, Rosendale. ELSE LILLIAN "LIL" HENRIKSEN

Goshen, N.Y. - Else Lillian "Lil" Henriksen of Goshen, an 8-year resident of the area, formerly a longtime resident of Rye, and a retired bank teller for Chase Bank in Rye, died Sunday, December 5, 2004 Orange Regional Medical Center, Goshen. She was 95. The daughter of the late Thomas Gustav Henriksen and Karen Margrethe Larsen Henriksen, she was born February 27, 1909 in Brooklyn. She was a member of Christ Church, Rye, and a member of Rye Historical Society, Rye. Survivors include a nephew, Walter Theodore Henriksen of Greenwood Lake; and a niece, Marit Anne Henriksen of Greenwood Lake. There will be no visitation. Funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be in Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope. Funeral arrangements by Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, Monroe.

Concord, N.C. - Formerly of Walden, N.Y. Dorothy A. Hauser of Concord, NC, formerly of Walden, NY, former employee of Interstate Bag Co., Walden, died Monday, December 6, 2004 at Kannapolis, NC. She was 83. The daughter of Francis and Frances von Halle, she was born July 10, 1921 in Mt. Vernon, NY. She is the widow of the late Henry Hauser. Survivors include two sons: Eric Hauser and his wife Patricia of Highland Mills, NY and Karl Hauser and his wife Alice of Concord, NC; five grandchildren: Shauna, Meghan, Kristin, Rebecca and Paul; four great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday December 10, 2004 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 10, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Kensico cemetery, Valhalla, NY. ROBERT MICHAEL FASCIANO

Formerly of Newburgh, N.Y. - Robert Michael Fasciano, 73, passed away December 5, 2004 after a courageous 14-year battle with brain tumors. He was born to Nickola and Mary Fasciano in Newburgh on November 18, 1931. He graduated Newburgh Free Academy Class of 1949 and graduated State University of New York at Utica in 1951. Robert served in the United States Army and was stationed at Scofield Military Base in Hawaii and was discharged April 21, 1956. He returned to New York and started a brilliant 33-year career with IBM. He retired from IBM in April 1989 and moved to Surprise, Arizona in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Arlene; two daughters, Lauren and Lynn; son, Dean and his beloved daughter-in-law, Yvonne; two grandsons, Robert Dean and Nico; and his brother, Alfred. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. We love you. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of the Valley 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ. LOUISE ANN SUTER

Mt. Pleasant, S.C. - Louise Ann Suter, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and formerly of North Tarrytown, died on Dec. 5, 2004. She was 81. Mrs. Suter was born on July 12, 1923 to Peter and Josephine Mirello Tonelli in Thurber, Texas. She retired from Sears-Roebuck where she was a sales associate. Mrs. Suter enjoyed traveling and settled in Charleston, S.C. in 1997. She is survived by two sons Frederick V. Suter of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and Richard Suter of Pawling, N.Y.; her daughter Denise Thornell of Otisville, N.Y.; and her sister Mary Tonelli of Mesa, Ariz. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Frederick W. Suter. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Sleepy Hollow. Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Autism Society of America, 7910 Woodmont Ave., Suite 300, Bethesda, MD 20814-3067 or the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Rd., Suite 504, No. Charleston, SC 29408.
