She graduated in 1950 from Central High School and in 1954 from Syracuse University. She was a communicant of St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Skaneateles and a member of Theta Phi Alpha Sorority.Survivors: Her husband, John M.; three daughters, Melanie R. Duerr of Onondaga Hill, Kathleen R. O'Donnell of Skaneateles and Ann M. Ryan of Syracuse; a son, John T. of Skaneateles; seven grandchildren. Henry A. Smith

Henry A. Smith, 87, of Byfield, Mass., died Friday. Born in Endicott, he lived most of his life in Liverpool before moving to Byfield in 2000. He graduated from Binghamton High School. He retired as a general contractor in North Syracuse. Following retirement, he was a real estate broker and appraiser for the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Federal Housing Administration. He was a 40-year member of the Lakeshore Yacht and Country Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. His wife, Lois, died in 1996.Survivors: A daughter, Andrea Altavilla of Byfield, Mass.; two grandchildren. Graveside services: 11 a.m. Friday in North Syracuse Cemetery, South Bay Road, North Syracuse. Phaneuf Crematorium, Manchester, N.H., has arrangements.

Charlene Meeks Tilby, 63, of Eden Prairie, Minn., died Tuesday of cancer. Born in Fulton, she lived in Mexico before moving to Eden Prairie 15 years ago. She graduated from Mexico High School and Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for 40 years.Survivors: Her husband, Dr. Brian Tilby; three daughters, Cindy of Oregon, Debbie of Colorado and Julie of China; six stepchildren; two sisters, Lee Winter of Ludlow, Vt., and Jackie Meeks of San Diego; two brothers, Bill and Leon Meeks, both of Liverpool; several grandchildren. Lyndon S. "Don" Tracy Jr., 90, of The Nottingham, Jamesville, died Wednesday. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Deerfield Academy, University of North Carolina and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He retired in 1977 as a chemical engineer after 40 years at Solvay Process. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral and the American Chemical Society.Survivor: A sister, Maria G. Tracy of Jamesville. Services: 11 a.m. Friday in St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse. A reception will be held in the cathedral's Brewster Room after the services. Willis A. Tutor, 82, of Vine Street, Liverpool, died July 26. Born in Mississippi, he attended Liverpool High School. He retired as meat department manager after more than 50 years at Nichols, Liverpool. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. His wife of 56 years, Evelyn, died in 2001.Survivors: Two daughters, Linda Fuentes of Modesto,  Calif., and Patricia Cannizzo of North Syracuse; a son, Ronald of Denver; two brothers, James of Saint Cloud, Fla., and Henry of Baldwinsville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Pierre Batik, 97, of Geddes died Wednesday. He was born in the Ukraine. He retired in 1973 from the maintenance department at Carrier Corp. after six years. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. He was a French Army veteran of World War II and was a prisoner of war for five years. His wife, Catherine, died in 1990.Survivors: A daughter, Olga Holl of Geddes; two grandsons; a great-grandson. Services: 9 a.m. Saturday at Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Burial, St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Fred Gould Palmer Jr., 79, of Oran-Delphi Road, Manlius, died Tuesday of cancer. Born in West Hampton Beach, he graduated from Cornell University. He retired in 1992 from the Bush Hog Division of Allied Products in Selma, Ala. He was a musician for Pole Catt Jazz Band and a member of American Federation of Musicians Local 78. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cazenovia and served on its board of deacons and board of trustees. He was a member of the Cazenovia Club. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.Survivors: His wife of 55 years, the former Shirley I. Culver; two daughters, Susan Palmer Everly and Cynthia P. Davis, both of Cazenovia; a son, Fred G. III of New Woodstock; six grandchildren. Services: 1 p.m. Aug. 31 in First Presbyterian Church, 27 Albany St., Cazenovia. Burial, private. She was formerly a crossing guard at McKinley Elementary School. She was a volunteer with Multiple Sclerosis Society and its Mother of the Year in 1976. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church, Fairmount. Her husband, Raymond F., died in 1999.
