Louis E. Malerba
Louis E. Malerba, age 86, of 6 Malerba Ave., Tupper Lake, NY died Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at his home.

Born in Utica, New York on January 19, 1922, he was the son of Augusto Malerba and Carmella Giampaola.

He married Mary Amoriell on May 28th, 1949 at Holy Name Church in Tupper Lake.

Mr. Malerba is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. serving from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. Following the war he had been employed as a Railroad Engineer for various railroad companies including Conrail until his retirement in 1980. Mr. Malerba is a life member of the Tupper Lake American Legion and VFW. He is a member of the Marine Corps League and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife Mary Malerba of Tupper Lake, one son Louis A. Malerba and his wife Kate of Tupper Lake, four sisters Elizabeth Garcea of Utica, Rosemary Redanty of Rochester, Ann Labella, and Delores Mancini both of Utica, two granddaughters Melissa Brown and her husband Matthew of Tupper Lake and Maria Zarro and her husband Matthew of Scotia, and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one son Robert Malerba in 2007 and two brothers Albert and Tony Malerba.

Calling hours will take place at Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday August 29, 2008 at Holy Name Church, with Kris Luzon officiating. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Tupper Lake.

Fletcher T. Boyer
Fletcher T. Boyer, 91, died Saturday, August 16, 2008, at the Avow Hospice in Naples Florida after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Springfield, MA., he moved to Albany, NY., at the age of five, then to East Greenbush, NY., to start his business and finally retired in 1975 from his business in Lake Placid, NY. At the age of 28, Mr. Boyer was the youngest person in the history of Ford Motor Co., at that time, to receive a Ford dealer franchise. After selling Boyer's Garage in East Greenbush, NY., he went on to own and operate Mountain Motors, Inc., in Lake Placid, NY. He is known by many for his contribution to the community through his untiring efforts with the Lake Placid PeeWee Hockey Association and the Lake Placid Lions Club. After retirement he moved to Naples, FL., at which time he volunteered at the Fort Meyers Shrine for many years doing fundraising for the Shrine Hospital. Mr. Boyer was affiliated with the Shrine Director's Staff and the East Greenbush Masonic Temple, from which he received a 50 years of service award in 2003.

Mr. Boyer is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth (Alger) Boyer; sons, Clark of Averill Park, NY., Robert (Ronna) of Naples, FL., Richard (Cathy) of Lake Placid, N.Y.; grandchildren, Kathleen, David, Michelle, Mark, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Kai, Rachel, Ryan, Jocelyn, Jarrett.

At the Adirondack Community Church, Main Street, Lake Placid, NY., Friday, August 29, 2008, the family will receive condolences from 1:15 pm and services will begin at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at the Town of North Elba Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.

Eugene J. Gagnier
Eugene J. Gagnier, age 98, of Tupper Lake, died Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the AMC-Mercy Health Care Center in Tupper Lake.

Born in Tupper Lake, New York on May 23, 1910, he was the son of Louie and Marie (Prolette) Gagnier. Mr. Gagnier married Catherine Tice who predeceased him in 2005.

Mr. Gagnier was a lifelong resident of Tupper Lake and had been employed at Sunmount DDSO for many years until his retirement.

He is survived by one daughter Mary Ann Tebo and her husband Harvey of Tupper Lake, NY, three grandchildren John Tebo of Cincinnati, OH, James Tebo and his wife Lisa of Tupper Lake, NY, and Mary Beth Rust and her husband John also of Tupper Lake, NY, two great grandchildren Kelsey Tebo and Isabella Rust both of Tupper Lake, NY. He was preceded in death by five brothers Ovila, Thomas, Leon, Henry and Wilfred Gagnier and three sisters Blanche LaMoy, Leah Hull, and Anna Cook.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday August 27, 2008 at St. Alphonsus Cemetery, with Rev. Chris Luzon officiating.

Barbara M. Mason
Barbara M. Mason, age 85, formerly of 35 Riverside Drive, Saranac Lake, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.
She was born in Ogdensburg, NY on August 17, 1923.

Mrs. Mason was a long-time resident of Tupper Lake and had lived in Edgewater, FL for ten years before moving to Saranac Lake six months ago. She had been a teletype operator during WWII and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Auxiliaries. She was also a member of the Edgewater Library and enjoyed walking and watching TV.

She married Leslie G. Mason in 1940. He died November 21, 2005. She is survived by two daughters: Sally Cianfrocca and her husband Charles of Edgewater, FL and Julianna Bigrow of Saranac Lake, four grandchildren: Renee Parr of Edgewater, FL, Daniel Cianfrocca of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Joell Cianfrocca of Edgewater, FL and Stephanie Bigrow of Saranac Lake, three great grandchildren: Samantha Parr, Jassmine Bigrow and Tutapon Cianfrocca, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial mass will take place August 19, 2008 at 12:00PM at Uihlein Mercy Center. Interment will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery.

David L. Vinopal
David L. Vinopal, 65, of St. Regis Street, Bloomingdale, NY passed away Sunday. August 17, 2008 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY. He was born in Titusville, PA November 12, 1942 the son of Edward and Josephine (Carey) Vinopal.

Growing up he found his life-long passion for music in the rolling hills of the Allegheny Mountains. David spent most of his childhood in Titusville before relocating to Big Rapids, Michigan. He is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University of Connecticut, and London University. After completing his education he taught at Northeast University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Ferris State University. For the last 20 years he had been teaching technical writing and photography at Paul Smith's College.

David's two passions in life were family and music. He was a devoted father of three sons: David, Jan, and Edward whom he loved dearly. The Adirondack Mountains gave David and his three sons endless activities; a time in his life that he cherished.

Music meant a great deal to David. He was a coauthor of Gibson's Fabulous Flat-Top Guitars. He was the editor and Executive Direction of Guitarmaker magazine and also contributed to the All-Music Guide. He also wrote several columns as a music critic. David filled his home with instruments, keeping to his motto "only a Gibson is good enough."

David was also an avid photographer, animal lover and advocate for animal rights. Pets were part of the family, his favorite being Dottie Vinopal the family dog.

For the past two and a half years David has been with his partner Kameliia Petrova. During this time he was always on the go, traveling, and enjoying life. To him and his sons this was the happiest period of his life.

David is survived by three sons, David E. Vinopal, Jan Vinopal and Edward Vinopal all of Bloomingdale, NY. He was also survived by one brother Robert Vinopal of Mansfield Center CT and one sister, Sarah Sturges of Pittsfield MA. A service of rememberance will be held Sunday, August 24th at 1:00 PM on the campus of Paul Smith's College. The Clark Funeral home in Lake Placid, NY is in charge of arrangments.

B. Logan Jones
B. Logan Jones, 44, of Keene, NY passed away August 18, 2008 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Lake Placid, NY. He was born in Red Bank, NJ July 6, 1964 the son of Alfred W. and Pierrette J. (Petas) Jones. Mr.  Jones had worked for Rookery Ranch in Keene, NY as a service technician and horse trainer. The most loving father and husband he worked with his wife Nicky at her horse training and instructing business and cherished the time he spent with his children Cedar and Lily. Most recently his love for the beauty of nature and the outdoors led him to pursue a career in photography, specializing as a portrait, nature, and abstract photographer. An avid lover of nature, trail builder, bicycler, and a lover of beauty and the outdoors he will be truly missed. B. Logan is survived by his wife Nicky Frechette and their two children Cedar and Lily of Keene, NY; his parents, Alfred and Pierrette  Jones of Keene, NY; one brother, Leroy W.  Jones and his wife Martha of North Hampton, NH; three sisters, Alison  Jones of Tacoma, WA, Darcy Fuguet and her husband Howard of Cambridge, MA; and Laurie Bergamini and her husband Herbert of Lake Placid, NY. He is also survived by his father and mother in law Dick and Michele Frechette; his sister in law, Daniel Benton and her family; his true friend's Josh Silverstein and Lisa Parker both from Keene and many other friends also survive him. Calling hours and a time of reflection will be held Thursday, August 21st from 10:00AM to 1:00PM at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY. Queenie M. Reid
Queenie M. Reid, 79, of 15 Church Street, Tupper Lake, NY died Saturday August 16, 2008 at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, NY.

Born in Tupper Lake, May 18, 1929 she was the daughter of Theodore and Delina (Lagoy) Dupuis.

She was a life long resident of Tupper Lake and a member St. Alphonsus Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Highlights in her life included trips to St. Ann's Shrine in Quebec City with church members, her trip to Branson, MO, her Friday trips to McDonnalds with her friends and her weekly card games with her sisters and nieces and nephews.

She married Hector Reid on October 2, 1954 at Holy Name in Faust, NY by Fr. Henry Wilcox. He died February 22, 1993. Survivors include son James C. Reid and his wife Joan of Peru, NY, daughter Mary-Kay Gaffney and her Husband Dan of Pulaski, NY, grandchildren Jennifer McMahon and her husband Dan of Melbourne, FL, Joseph Reid of Peru, Christopher Gaffney of Syracuse, NY, Brandon Gaffney of Pulaski, great grandchild Elizabeth McMahon, two sisters: Gladys Benware, Lillian LaFave and brother Roy Dupuis all of Tupper Lake and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters Goldie Benware and Bea Cassel and two brothers Persy and Philip Dupuis and an infant grandson John Gaffney.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 7:00PM to 9:00PM at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 11:00am at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake, interment will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. William Carl Hockey
William Carl Hockey, 77, passed away peacefully at the Adirondack Medical Center on Friday, August 14, surrounded by his loving family.

William was born on December 5, 1930, in Potsdam, N.Y. to Mildred and William Hockey of Gouveneur, N.Y. He graduated from Gouveneur High School on 1948. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952. He was a familiar face with the patrons in the 1970's, bartending in the family owned Waukesha Grill and Canali's Restaurant in Tupper Lake, N.Y. He retired from Sunmount DDSO in 1995. William was a loyal Yankee fan all his life. He enjoyed taking in the scenery of the beautiful lakes and mountains of the Adirondacks.

William is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elaine, of Tupper Lake, two sons and twin daughters, Joseph Hockey and his wife Jenn of Tupper Lake, N.Y., Jeff Jockey of New York City, Karen Hockey and her husband Tim of Canton, N.Y., Mary Hockey of Tupper Lake N.Y., eleven grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, Chelsea, Caitlin, Camrin, Shauna, Mark, Tanner, Dakota, Nathanial, and Mia. William was one of four siblings, brother Gene Jockey and his wife Shirley of Brownsville, N.Y., a sister Connie Ritchie and her husband Bob of Gouveneur, N.Y. William was predeceased by a sister Joyce Russell of Sacketts Harbor, N.Y.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, August 18, 2008 at St. Alphonsus Church at 2pm. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery with full military honors. There will be a gathering at the VFW for family and friends following the services. Eileen A. McCasland
Eileen A. McCasland, a resident of Saranac Lake for over eighty years, passed away at the Adirondack Medical Center on August 14, 2008. She was born on January 27, 1907 in  Washington, D.C., the daughter of Fayette and Lillian (Scoville) Wheelock. The youngest of eight children, she was educated in  Washington D.C., Mt. Morris, NY and San Diego, CA and attended nursing school in Warsaw, NY. She moved to Saranac Lake in approximately 1925.

She married Harry J. Stuart on November 3, 1936 and they purchased their home on Petrova Avenue in 1940 where she lived up until 12 days before her death. Mr. Stuart passed away February 15, 1950. On August 8, 1951, she married Cleophas McCasland, who passed away March 31, 1984.

Mrs. McCasland was a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid region for approximately 40 years, retiring in the late 1960's. She worked nights at both the Saranac Lake and Lake Placid hospitals and also on various private duty cases. Among her patients was Kate Smith's mother. Eileen was an energetic and caring nurse who preferred the night shift so that she could be at him for her only child during the day.

She was a member of St. Bernard's Church, a charter member of the Ladies of the Elks and St. Bernard's School Parent's Club and a long time member of the Women's Civic Chamber. She enjoyed being with people She had a remarkable spirit and sense of humor that will live on in her family and friends as memories of her are shared.

She is survived by her son Harry J. Stuart and his wife Claudine Chavanne of Lenox, MA: grandchildren Amy Murphy of West Newton, MA, Brian Stuart and his wife Sarah of Poulsbo, WA and David Stuart of Hinsdale, MA: great grandchildren Shannon and Carter Murphy and Tathleen and Quinlan Stuart; her former daughter-in-law Helen Puccio, a number of nieces and nephews, and many caregivers who are like family.

Friends may call at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake from 4-7 PM Sunday. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 AM at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake, with the pastor, Father Thomas Kornmeyer, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetary.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to the Eileen Stuart McCasland Nursing Scholarship at the Saranac Lake Central School or to the Saranac Lake Rescue Squad.

Loren David Hanlin
Loren David Hanlin, 56, of Tupper Lake died Monday, August 11, 2008 at his home surrounded by family, following a long illness. Born on October 21, 1951 in Boston, Ma. He was the son of Loren and Doris (Jarvis) Hanlin. David a veteran of Vietnam, served with the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1973. Dave moved to Tupper Lake in 1989 and was employed at Sunmount DDSO. On July 20, 2008 he married Linda Crouse. Dave was an avid camper, he also enjoyed working with computers and collecting guitars. He is survived by his wife Linda, his mother Doris of Attleboro, Ma., one son Kevin Hanlin, of Daytona Beach, Florida one daughter Heather Hanlin, of Ft. Pierce Florida, one granddaughter Emily, two step children, Gwen Dewyea and Matthew Cote, both of Tupper Lake. He is also survived by four brothers, Paul, Douglas, Daryl all of Attleboro, and Brian of Tupper Lake. He was pre-deceased by his father Loren. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday August 13 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. A mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with full military honors. William W. “Bill” LaMare
William W. “Bill” LaMare, 95, of Tupper Lake died Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the Adirondack Medical Center Mercy where he has resided for the past 4 years. Mr. LaMare was born on March 28, 1913 in Bloomingdale, the son of Joseph and Doriska (Scheink) LaMare. In 1943 he married Leona Mayville Walsh, she pre-deceased him January 2003. He was also pre-deceased by their daughter Norma Walsh in 1962. As a young man, Bill did factory work at the OWD leaving to work at Somers Garage. Bill worked for the Village of Tupper Lake as DPW Supt. From 1957- 1963. He worked for Toneth Motors from 1963-1966. He then worked at the Big Tupper Ski area from 1966 until retiring in 1973. Bill enjoyed fishing, watching sports on TV and spending time with his family. He was a communicant of Holy Name Church. Bill was, to the very end of his life, a man of sharp wit and great humor. He is survived by 6 grandchildren; Vincent Kavanagh and his wife Ellen, Mary Kay Amell and her husband Roger, Philip Kavanagh and his wife Tina, all of Tupper Lake, Michael Kavanagh of Burlington, Ma, Jacqueline McTernan and her husband Jack of Union, NJ and Gerald P. Kavanagh of Tupper Lake, 17 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, several nephews and a son-in-law Gerald A. Kavanagh and his wife Leona. Bill was pre-deceased by his five brothers; Rosa, Homer, Israel “Buster”, Leon and Lawrence and two sisters, Marelda “Mim” and Irene. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday August 13 from 10 a.m. - 12:00 noon followed by a memorial service at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Holy Name Cemetery. George Griffin
George Griffin, 75 of Tupper Lake NY died Monday August 11, 2008 at his home. Born in Ohio on May 16, 1933, he was the son of Osborne and Pauline (Burns) Griffin. George was an active member of his community. He was a long standing member of Rod & Gun Club where he was named “Mr. Public Relations”. George was also a member of the Local Moose Club, Tupper Lake Wild Center and Saint Alphonsus Church. George enjoyed fishing for Muskies on the St. Lawence River in Alexandria Bay along with the local fishing where he taught countless community members how to fish. You could always count on seeing George at the Tupper Lake Fishing Derby. George enjoyed traveling; especially his cross country trip where he visited the St. Joseph Indian School in South Dakota that George very proudly contributed money.

George is survived by 2 brothers: Frank Griffin and Allen Griffin, 1 sister Rita Wilson, and long time roommate and best friend Gary LaFountain, along with many nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by his mother and father. 4 brothers: Benjamin, Henry, Francis and Dwight. George will be missed by all his friends and family. Calling hours will be held in the entrance to St. Alphonsus church on Thursday August 14 from 1 – 3 pm with a funeral mass at 3pm. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Rena Cardinal
Rena Cardinal, 79, of Tupper Lake, died Thursday, August 7th at AMC Mercy Center in Tupper Lake. She was born January 7, 1929 in Tupper Lake to Norman and Helena LaPorte Cardinal. Rena graduated from Holy Ghost Academy and moved to Syracuse where she worked for some time after graduation. She returned to Tupper Lake and worked at Donovan’s Gift Shop at the State Theatre for many years. She also worked at Big Tupper Ski Area in the cafeteria and then Mercy Healthcare center until her retirement. Always the worker, Rena became a Senior Companion at Sunmount DDSO for a number of years. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist. In earlier years, she was an officer of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Ladies of the Moose, Ladies of St Anne and an active member of the Legion of Mary. She also enjoyed coffee at Stewart’s and bingo with friends, nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, one brother Walter Cardinal, two sisters, Pearl (Cardinal) Donovan, and Violet (Cardinal) Hamernick. Rena is survived by two sisters, June Reandeau and Marie Mayotte, nine nieces and nephews, Ronald and Douglas Hamernick, Donna (Hamernick) Allen all of Dunkirk, Christopher Mayotte of Park City, KS, Holly (Reandeau) Bernardo of Cold Spring, NY, Jeffery Mayotte and Patti (Mayotte) Poirier, Dillion Reandeau and Jem Reandeau-Azar all of Tupper Lake. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 10th from 4 to 6 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St Alphonsus church. Those wishing to make a contribution are asked to consider Mercy Healthcare Center, the Tupper Lake volunteer Fire Dept or High Peaks Hospice.

Rolland “Tapsy” Proulx
Rolland “Tapsy” Proulx joined his beloved wife and their three sons in heaven on August 6, 2008. He was born in Tupper Lake on March 10, 1925, the son of Clarina and Ephrem Proulx. He was married to Doris Garrett on May 28, 1949 in Plattsburgh, New York.

Tapsy worked many years at the Benson Mines in Star Lake NY retiring in 1978 for health reasons. Tapsy also worked for W.C.  Johnson & Sons and had worked most recently for the Adirondack Regional Credit Union.

He was predeceased by his wife in 2007. He was the youngest and the last surviving sibling of 13 brothers and sisters. He is also predeceased by three sons Rolland Jr, Cordell and Steven. Tapsy enjoyed his grandchildren, was an avid New York Yankee fan and enjoyed being with his family.

He had been an active member for many years of the Knights Of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight.

He is survived by a son Thomas Proulx and his wife Connie, a daughter Cathy (Proulx) Staves and her husband Marc all of Tupper Lake; Four grandchildren, Eric Proulx and Stacey Proulx of Tupper Lake, Christina (Staves) Hoffnagle of West Chazy and Nicole Staves of Tupper Lake. He is also survived by great grandchildren , Skyler, Kiersten, Taylor, MAddison and Avri all of Tupper Lake.

He leaves behind his best friend, his dog Precious.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 8th at the Stuart-Fortune Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A mass of Christian Buriial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 9 at 12 noon at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will follow in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Marie Paule Demars, 98, of Tupper Lake died Monday August 4, 2008 at Uihlein Mercy Center where she has resided for the past month. Born on January 2, 1910 in Quebec, she was the daughter of Paul and Alexina (Landry) Paiement. She married Paul Demars in 1946 in Clarence Creek, Ontario and moved to Tupper Lake that same year. They made there home at 47 Water St where she resided until 2006. Mrs. Demars worked housekeeping for several Tupper Lake Motels. She was the last surviving sibling of ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by two sons, Paul and his wife Deb of Newbury, Ma., Bob and his wife Laurie of Saranac Lake, five grandchildren Rene, Paul, Heather, Matthew and Michael, three sister in laws, Sr Gertrude Rose Demars of Tupper Lake, Sr. Marie Gabrielle of Conneticut, and Beulah McLear of Tupper Lake. She was pre-deceased by her husband Joseph in 1991. .Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 7, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Name Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Tupper Lake Fire Dept of Rescue Squad.

William Cornish
William Cornish, 81, of Long Lake, passed away, Saturday, July 27, 2008 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Bill was born on May 24, 1927 in New York City. He was the son of William and Mary Cornish. He attended Mount St. Michael’s high school in the Bronx. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Radar man. After is discharge from Active Duty, he served in the Naval Reserve as a Lt. Jg. Bill graduated from Fordham University in 1950 and joined the NY State Police and was assigned to Troop B, then located in Malone. He later served as an Investigator in the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations. He went on to be employed by Lease way Transportation Company as Director of Security. He retired from Lease way in 1988 and lived in Long Lake. Bill was a member of the Long Lake American Legion and the Association of Former NY State Troopers. He is survived by one brother Wesley of Long Lake. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial service will be held at St. Henry’s church in Long Lake. Interment will be in the Long Lake Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. Bill’s family extends there many thanks to his caregivers and friends.

Ann E. Tomlinson
Ann E. Tomlinson, age 73, formerly of Saranac Lake and more recently of Daytona Beach Florida died Friday September 12, 2008 at the Summerville Assisted Living facility in Florida.

Born July 14, 1935 in Montreal, Quebec she was the daughter of Samuel and Eva (Morgan) Penniston. She was married to John Tomlinson who predeceased her in 1997.

Mrs. Tomlinson had been employed by the State of New York Department of Corrections at Camp Adirondack until her retirement in 1993. Prior to that she had worked for American Management Association in Saranac Lake for many years.

She is survived by three sons Robert of Oswego, NY, Peter of Oswego, NY and John and his wife Joanna of Skaneateles, NY, and one daughter Karen Hanson of Saranac Lake, NY. She is also survived by five grandchildren Peter and Jacob Tomlinson of Oswego, Sarah and Alexandra Tomlinson of Skaneateles and Nicholas Hanson of Saranac Lake.

Mrs. Tomlinson’s family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Saturday October 18, 2008 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating.

Friends wishing to remember Mrs. Tomlinson may make memorial contribution to the Special Olympics in care of the funeral home.
