Warren C. Jester
ONEONTA — Mr. Warren C. Jester, 71, of Oneonta, died Tuesday morning, June 30, 1998, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born Feb. 13, 1927, in Oneonta, the son of Edgar Frederic and Clive (Bryant) Jester.

He married Edith VanBuren on July 1, 1950, in Otego.

Warren was a veteran in the United States Navy having served in World War II.

He was a retired auto mechanic having worked at Molinari's. Before his retirement, Warren had worked at Schenevus Central Schools as a mechanic and also in the maintenance department.

Warren was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Jester of Oneonta; three daughters and three sons and their spouses, Carol and Mario Arevalo of Oneonta, Kaye and Earl Freling of Mayville, Corinne Montgomery of Annandale, N.J., Kim Warren Jester of Schenevus, Timothy Jester of Maryland and Kerry Jester of San Antonio,  Texas; 14 grandchildren, Benjamin, Christopher and Daniel Arevalo, Kraig and Kurt Butcher, Robert, Emily and Bryce Freling, Aaron, Joshua and Krista Jester, Toni, Matthew and Jessica Jester; four sisters and five brothers and their spouses, Eunice Bush of Rensselaer, his twin brother, Wayne and Charlotte Jester of Oneonta, Beverly and George Wetmore of Davenport Center, Donald and Dolores Jester of Windsor, Richard and Joan Jester of West Webster, Rodney and Evelyn Jester of  White Sulphur Springs, Bruce and Nancy Jester of Oneonta, Nancy and Wiliam Rasmussen of Oneonta and Betsy Squaires of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

Warren was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Sally Jane.

Mr. Jester will be cremated at the Hillington Crematory, Morris. Private graveside services will be held at the Ouleout Valley Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 356 North Midler Ave., Syracuse, N.Y., 13206, or to the American Heart Association, Heart Gifts Processing Center, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, N.Y., 13220-3049, in loving memory of Warren C. Jester.

Funeral arrangements are by Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

Ethelyn M. Sammons
ATHENS, Tenn. — Ethelyn M. Sammons, 82, of Athens, Tenn., passed away June 30, 1998, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

She had worked on her farm and was employed as a nurses aide before retirement.

A native of Schuyler, she had lived in Athens, Tenn., for two years.

She was a daughter of the late Charles and Verna Ostrander Bailey and was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Sammons in 1972.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Joyce Sammons) Mack of Athens, Tenn.; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Russel Byrd; two great-grandsons, Steven James and Nicholas David Byrd, all of Douglasville, Ga.

A private funeral service for members of the family will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Nunley officiating. Burial will be in Schuyler Lake Cemetery, Schuyler.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice in memory of Harry Paul Seamons.

Charles Henry Dietz
PALM COAST, Fla. — Charles Henry Dietz, 83, of Armand Beach Drive, Palm Coast, Fla., died June 27, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Flagler, Fla.

Mr. Dietz was born in Perth Amboy, N.J., and he moved here 23 years ago from Schoharie.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was a superintedent for a gas turbine plant at General Electric.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia D.; seven daughters, Dale Herodes of Middleburgh, Carolyn Whitmer of Flagler Beach, Fla., Dorothy Norton of Rotterdam, Carol Dutcher of Schoharie, Holly Gardner of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ashley Garry of Beaumont,  Texas and Virginia Shirk of Palm Coast, Fla.; one son, Jerry Dietz of Idaho Falls, Idaho; one sister, Dorothy Molesky of Allentown, Pa.; 28 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 555 W. Granada Blvd., Suite A-1, Ormond Beach, Fla., 32174.

Funeral arrangements are by Craig Funeral Home, S. Old Kings Road, Palm Coast.

Jeanne Marie Patrick
JESSUP, Md. — Jeanne Marie Patrick, 65, of Jessup, Md., died June 27, 1998, at Laurel Regional Hospital, Laurel, Md.

She was born on Oct. 24, 1932, in New York.

Mrs. Patrick was a resident of Laurel for the past 19 years.

She was married to the late Kenneth D. Patrick Sr.

After retiring from a management position with the Marriot Corportation, she obtained her real estate license and went to work with the Weichert Real Estate, formerly, Shannon & Luch's.

She was a past member of the Laurel Tabernacle.

She is survived by her daughter, Ramona Patrick of Jessup, Md.; her sons, Michael J. Patrick Sr., Kenneth D. Patrick Jr., and Bradley D. Patrick; her brothers, Stephen Foote and Louis Foote Jr.; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on July 2, 1998, at 7 p.m. at the Fleck Funeral Home, Laurel, Md.

There are no calling hours.

Mary E. St. John
PALM HARBOR, Fla. — Mary E. St. John, 81, died June 25, 1998, in Palm Harbor, Fla. She was under the care of Hospice.

She was born in New York City.

She was a secretary for the Reese Marshall Company Inc., in Norwich.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Benjamin of Palm Harbor, Fla.; son, James of Crofton, Md.; daughter, Janet Aldrich of Oxford; four grandchildren, Steven St. John of Crofton, Md., Kevin St. John of Chicago, Ill., Deborah Brown of South New Berlin and Patricia Kornegay of Norwich; and one great-grandson, Corey Brown of South New Berlin.

Donations can be made to a favorite charity.

Joan Darby Munkenbeck
WESTVILLE — Joan Darby Munkenbeck died Jan. 30, 1998. Her family is hosting a memorial get-together on Saturday, July 11, 1998, from noon to 3 p.m. at the farm.

Floyd R. Shepard
RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Mr. Floyd R. Shepard, 64, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.

He was born Nov. 23, 1933, in Cooperstown, the son of William and Alice (Lent) Shepard.

On March 15, 1952, he married Natalie Williams in Cooperstown.

He attended the Christian Hill School in the town of Otsego.

Mr. Shepard had worked for the Clark Foundation, Cooperstown, Clifford Drake Farm, Cooperstown, and at the Meadows, in the town of Middlefield, from which he retired in 1992.

He was a member of the Cooperstown Assembly of God Church in Cooperstown.

Mr. Shepard is survived by his wife, Natalie J. Shepard of Richfield Springs; three daughters, Donna Pierce and her friend Daniel Buddle of Springfield Center, Diane Pierce and her husband Harry Pierce of Richfield Springs, and Robin Torgerson and her husband Paul Torgerson of Utica; a former son-in-law, Charles Pierce of Richfield Springs; four grandchildren, Mrs. Ace (Alice) Guenther of Cameron, N.C., Mr. Michael Pierce and his wife Phyllis of Richfield Springs, Mr. Matthew Pierce of Cameron, N.C., Ms. Alisha Pierce of Richfield Springs; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Guenther and Austin Pierce; four sisters, Mrs. Anita Keefe of Hartwick, Mrs. Pauling Griffith of Hartwick, Mrs. Henry (Mildred) Waters of Rome and Mrs. Doris Snyder of Rome; a special niece, Mrs. Arlene Thayer of Sprakers and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Richard John Shepard, two brothers, George and Leonard; two sisters, Rosina Kane and Clara Skillen; and two brothers-in-law, Russell Griffith and Leon Keefe.

There will be no public calling hours. Cremation will take place at the Leatherstocking Crematory Inc., Cherry Valley.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 4, 1998, at 1 p.m. in the Cooperstown Assembly of God, Cooperstown with the Rev. Ameen Aswad officiating.

Flowers sent in memory of Mr. Shepard will be received at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 3, at the church.

Burial will take place, at a later date, in the Fly Creek Cemetery, Fly Creek.

Contributions in Mr. Shepard's memory may be made to the Diabetic Association.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Hugh McPherson
DELHI — Hugh McPherson, 86, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 1998, in his residence in Delhi.

Hugh was born April 7, 1912, in Bovina Center, the son of Howard and Eva Burns McPherson.

Hugh married Wilma Page May 1, 1965, in Delhi. Wilma predeceased Hugh June 9, 1993.

Hugh started out as road commissioner in Bovina for many years. Then he worked for the New York State Department of Transportation as a foreman until he retired.

He was an avid bowler and fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team. He loved to travel throughout the United States. He was a member of the Bovina Fire Department, the C.S.E.A. and the Delhi First Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Ruth A. Avery of East Meredith and Sandra J. Cole of Delhi; a step-daughter, Jeanne Cameron of Cortland; several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 1998, at 2 p.m. at the Moxley-McCall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Karen Porto of the West Delhi Presbyterian Church officiating.

There will be no family calling hours.

Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience.

Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery.

At the family's request, memorials in his name may be made to the Delhi Emergency Squad or to the First Baptist Church, Delhi.

Arrangements are by the Moxley-McCall Funeral Home, Delhi.

Cornelia M. Harrington
UNADILLA — Mrs. Cornelia M. Harrington, 86, of Route 7, Unadilla, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, July 2, 1998, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

Cornelia was born Jan. 2, 1912, in Delhi. She was the daughter of the late William and Anna Calhoun Mabon.

On Dec. 21, 1932, she married Merion R. Laing. He predeceased her Jan. 13, 1958. Cornelia later married Burr D. Harrington on Aug. 7, 1959.

In her early years, Mrs. Harrington was a grade school teacher in the town of Meredith and Davenport. Mrs. Harrington was employed by the ECD of Bendix, Sidney from 1948 until her retirement in 1974.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Bainbridge and the IAM&AW Local 1529, Sidney.

She is survived by her husband, Burr D. Harrington of Unadilla; three daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and John Bramley of Delhi, Joyce and Martin Freyer of Masonville and Linda Davis of Otego; three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Doree Laing of Bainbridge, Gilbert and Anna Laing of Earlville and Daniel and Sandra Laing of Louisville, Ky.; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchilren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Mabon of Delhi and Beatrice Mabon of Delhi and one brother-in-law, James Oliver of Delhi.

She was predeceased by two brothers, William D. and Archibald M. Mabon and one sister, Anna Grace Mabon Oliver.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 1998, from the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. The Rev. Helen Havlik, pastor of the Unadilla and East Guilford Presbyterian Churches, officiating.

Burial will be at the family's convenience in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Meridale.

Friends are invited to call at their convenience at the funeral chapel, Saturday, July 4. The family will be in attendance from 3-5 p.m.

Memorial gifts in her name may be made to the Unadilla Emergency Squad if desired.
