Marguerite `Peggy' McKnight
MOUNT UPTON — Mrs. Marguerite "Peggy" McKnight, 77, of Medbury Road, Mount Upton, passed away Tuesday evening, July 14, 1998, at Bassett Healthcare Center, Cooperstown.

She was born July 28, 1920, in Brooklyn. Marguerite was the daughter of the late John and Marguerite Kerer Hayes.

On Sept. 28, 1979, she married Howard J. McKnight in Dunedin, Fla.

For several years, Marguerite was a waitress at the Dairy Bar-n in Bainbridge.

She is survived by her husband, Howard J. McKnight of Mount Upton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Denise Casey of Princeton, Mo., Peter and Anna Casey of Tobyhanna, Pa., Patrick Casey and Debbie Lyon of Nichols; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maryann and Herbert Weidman of Mount Upton and Jacqueline and Randy Phillips of Wellington, Fla.; step son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Betty McKnight of Yeadon, Pa.; step-daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Shriever Johnessee of Dallastown, Pa.; one brother, John Hayes of Lynbrook; 17 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her brother, William Hayes.

Funeral and committal services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 1998, from the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney with the Rev. Alison Leitzel, pastor of St. Lukes Lutheran Church, Sidney, officiating.

Friends are invited to call at their convenience Saturday at the funeral chapel. Her family will be in attendance from 2 to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name may be made to the Hanna House care of Bassett Healthcare Center, Atwell Road, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326 or the Mount Upton Emergency Squad, Mount Upton, N.Y. 13809 or Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820.

Steven Andrew Schenker
EDMESTON — Steven Andrew Schenker, 47, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at Pathfinder Village.

A longtime resident of Pathfinder Village, Edmeston, he was born April 6, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Florence Peters Schenker and the late Charles Schenker.

Steven was a caring, sensitive person with an engaging smile and sense of humor who enjoyed the company of others. He will be missed by those whose lives he touched.

Steven completed his education in 1973 at the Otsego School in Edmeston. For many years, he received great pleasure attending the ARC's Hartwick Day Treatment program.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his brother, Paul S. Schenker and his wife, Paige of Pasadena,  Calif.; nieces, Anna and Lauren Schenker and the dedicated staff members at Pathfinder Village.

A memorial service to celebrate Steven's life will be held on Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Morgan- Jackson All Faiths Chapel at Pathfinder Village with the Rev. Paul Towers, Village chaplain, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steven's memory to the Dr. Charles Schenker Scholarship Fund at Pathfinder Village, Edmeston, N.Y., 13335.

Burial will be in the family plot at Memorial Park in Memphis, Tenn.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Houk-Johnston-Tery Funeral Home, Edmeston.

Isabella Dorothy Tate
SCOTIA — Isabella Dorothy Tate, 1 year old, of Cambridge Manor Drive, Scotia, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, of natural causes in Albany Medical Center, Albany.

She was born in Amsterdam.

She was the daughter of Jayson and Claudia Bretado Tate of Scotia.

Survivors are her parents, Jayson and Claudia Bretado Tate of Scotia; sister, Jensen Tate of Scotia; paternal grandparents, David and Regina Tate of Otego; paternal great-grandmother, Floretta Tate of Saratoga Lake and maternal grandparents, Eusebio and Paula Bretado of El Paso,  Texas. She was the niece of Jeremiah Tate of Clifton Park; goddaughter of Chris and Marcia Brino; special friend to Julianne Urban, Michelle Fazio, Grandma Marge, Aunt Eileen and Aunt Elaine and many uncles, aunts, cousins, great-aunts and great-uncles in  Texas, California and the Capitol District.

A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be celebrated 9 a.m. Saturday morning at St. Joseph's R. C. Church, First Street, Scotia.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends after 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning at St. Joseph's Church.

Burial will be at St. Jean Baptist Cemetery, Troy.

Arrangements are by the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, Inc., Scotia.

Frieda Muriel Baxter
BOYNTON BEACH Fla. — Frieda Muriel Baxter, 88, former LaGrange resident of Boynton Beach, Fla., died Thursday, July 9, 1998, in Boynton Beach, Fla.

She was a former town of Davenport Center tax collector (Delaware County).

In 1972, she moved to Boynton Beach, Fla., to live with her niece, Mrs. Natalie Kuchenmeister for 25 years.

She was a member of the Davenport Center Grange.

She was born in LaGrange on June 17, 1910, the daughter of Clayton Bulmer and Grace Bodden.

She was married to Sheldon F. Baxter, who died in March 1963.

Survivors are one niece, Mrs. Natalie Kuchenmeister of Boynton Beach, Fla., and six nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Blanche Thompkins.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Freedom Plains Cemetery, LaGrange, with the Rev. Thomas Denier officiating.

Arrangements are by Schoonmaker Funeral Home, Poughkeepsie.

William B. Field
HARTWICK SEMINARY — A committal service for William B. Field, who passed away on March 27, 1998, will be held at Hartwick Seminary Cemetery on Saturday, July 18, 1998, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steven Fournier, of the Milford Center Community Bible Church, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Clifford A. Beuth
MARGARETVILLE — Clifford A. Beuth, 78, of Millbrook Road, Margaretville died July 16, 1998, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.

He was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Staten Island, the son of Frank Beuth and Ellen Denbeigh.

He married Florence Burris on Sept. 24, 1938, in Plattsburgh.

He served in the U.S. Army during peacetime and for the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was assigned in the South Pacific as a seabee diver to the third Marine Corp Division.

He was instrumental in forming the first Boy Scout Troop in Davenport and served as scout master.

For 19 years, he worked for Bethlehem Steel as a shipfitter snapper supervisor. He retired in January 1969 from the USCG Govenor's Island where he worked as a ship builder in the carpenter shop. After retirement he moved to Margaretville where he resided for the past 30 years.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 912 for 47 years, the Tall Cedars, The Royal Rangers, American Legion Post No. 216, was past president of Simonson's Rod and Gun Club and a life member of the DAV William Halsey Post of Edison, N.J.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Florence Beuth of Margaretville; two sons, Clifford F. Beuth of Manahawkin, N.J., and Margaretville and Lawrence E. Beuth of Greene and Margaretville; one daughter, Beverly Kelly of Manahawkin, N.J., and Margaretville; two sisters, Winifred Montgomery of St. Marcos,  Calif. and Gertrude Otlen of Staten Island; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one sister, Dorothy Ziel and two brothers, Frank and Phillip Beuth.

A celebration of his life will be held at Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville on Saturday, July 18, 1998 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. S. Hayden Walsh, officiating.

Committal service will be private.

Contributions in memory of Clifford Beuth can be made to the Arena Fire Department.

Arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Matilda (Tilly) Hicks
WORCESTER — Matilda (Tilly) Hicks, 93, of Worcester, died Thursday, July 16, 1998, at the Oneonta Nursing Home.

She was born June 13, 1905, in Armagh County, Northern Ireland, the daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth (Martin) Emerson.

She married Samuel R. Hicks on Jan. 24, 1928, in New York City. He predeceased her on Dec. 26, 1986.

Mrs. Hicks came to America in her early 20s to New York City. She studied hairdressing and was a licensed operator for over 50 years. She was a Worcester area resident for over 55 years and owned and operated Tilly's Beauty Shop in Worcester for many years.

Mrs. Hicks was a member of the Assembly of God Church, a former member of the Second Baptist Church in Worcester, the Bible Fellowship Church in Worcester and the Worcester Women's Club.

She is survived by a son, Samuel A. and his wife, Mary Jane Hicks of San Antonio,  Texas; a daughter, Hazel Nelson of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Laura McDowell of Ireland and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.

She was predeceased by a son, Frederick George and his wife, Yvonne Hicks; two grandsons, Richard George Nelson Jr. and William Reegan Nelson; a son-in-law, Richard G. Nelson and six brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 20, 1998, at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 115 Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. John D. Grenier, pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Oneonta.

Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, July 19, 1998, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in loving memory of Mrs. Hicks to the Worcester Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 191, Worcester, N.Y., 12197, or the church of one's choice.

Funeral arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester.

Mary Sellitti
SIDNEY CENTER — Mrs. Mary Sellitti, 72, of R.D. 1, Sidney Center, died Thursday, July 16, 1998, at Wilson Memorial Hospital,  Johnson City.

She was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Introdacqua, Italy, the daughter of Tommasso and Anna (Cheswick) DelMonaco.

She was married to Alfred C. Sellitti on Dec. 1, 1946, in Staten Island. Mr. Sellitti died Feb. 5, 1998.

She had been a resident of Sidney Center for the last 11 years after residing for most of her life in Staten Island.

Mrs. Sellitti is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Linda Sellitti of Venice, Fla., Thomas and Marie Sellitti of Sidney Center and Alfred and Renee of Staten Island; two sisters, Viola Stricker of St. Louis, Mo. andd Irene Loberg, also of St. Louis; a sister-in-law, Margaret DelMonaco of St. Louis and nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 20, 1998, at the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla with the Rev. Gordon A. Polenz, pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Sidney, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Sidney Center.

Friends may call at the funeral home, Sunday, July 19 at their convenience and the family will be in attendance Sunday from 6-9 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

Helen M. Hoag
MORRIS — Helen M. Hoag, 91, of Morris died Thursday, July 16, 1998, at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich due to her declining health.

She had been a resident of the Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin for the past few years.

She was born Jan. 24, 1907, in the town of Morris, the daughter of Ross and Ella (Carr) Colburn.

She was married to Adelbert Hoag on Jan. 24, 1924. He died in 1971.

She was a mother and homemaker and had resided in the Butternut Valley all her life.

She is survived by one son, Frederick Hoag and his wife Dorothy of Morris; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Hoag of Morris and Leah Valentine and her husband Durward of Morris; a brother-in-law, Arthur Hoag and his wife Pauline of Idaho. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her three daughters who were Ethelyn Cleveland, Theresa Scudder and Greta Tooley.

The time and place of a memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Cremation took place at the Hillington Crematory in Morris.

There will be no calling hours and friends are asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Morris Emergency Squad in her memory.

Arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
