Henry Richman
BAINBRIDGE — Henry Richman, 86, of the Back River Road, Bainbridge, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, July 24, 1998, at his residence.

For several years Mr. and Mrs. Richman operated a dairy farm in Bainbridge.

He was a member of the Temple Israel, 4737 Deerfield Pl., Vestal and the Algonkin Grange, Bainbridge.

He is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Mrs. Alice Richman of Bainbridge; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Judy Richman of Bainbridge, Eric and Sandra Richman of North Kingstown, R.I., Peter Richman of Bainbridge; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and James Maddalone of Bainbridge also surviving are three granddaughters and two grandsons.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 26, 1998, at the Temple Israel Riverside Cemetery, Conklin with Rabbi Baron of Temple Israel officiating.

Memorial gifts in his name may be directed to the Temple Israel, 4737 Deerfield Pl., Vestal, N.Y., 13850, or to the Bainbridge Emergency Squad, Bainbridge, N.Y., 13733.

Arrangements are under the direction of the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Donald Eugene
Georgia Sr.
LAKE HELEN, Fla. — Donald Eugene Georgia Sr., 65, of West  Washington Ave., Fla., died June 11, 1998, at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial after a brief illness following surgery.

Mr. Georgia worked as a truck driver for CFS Contintental Foods in Sanford for 9½ years until he was disabled in an accident in 1984. Until 1971, he and his wife owned a farm in Bennettsville. He had also driven a truck in New York and worked as an auxiliary deputy sheriff in New York.

Born in Otego, he moved to Lake Helen, Fla., in 1971 from Bennettsville.

Mr. Georgia was preceded in death by four sons, Bruce Edwards Jr., twins Andrew and James, and Donald Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Joyce Burt; two sons, Brian Edwards of DeLand, Fla., and Albert Georgia of Lake Helen, Fla.; six daughters, Donna Georgia of Holly Hill, Fla., Nina Utting of Pittsfield, Mass., Cindy Beauregard of Fory Myers, Fla., Nanette Cook of Pace, Fla., Carol Beasley of Longtown, Okla., and Glenda Georgia of Lake Helen, Fla.; two foster sons, John Edwards and Greg Jones, both of Daytona Beach, Fla.; three foster daughters, Ethel Schult of Lake Helen, Fla., and Denise Georgia and Carol Christy, both of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Laura Averil Baker of Binghamton, and Lottie Donnelly of Plymouth; 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Memorial service will be later at Bundy Cemetery, Otego.

Volusia County Cremation Society in Daytona Beach, Fla., was in charge.

Stanley G. Hulse
WALTON — Stanley G. Hulse, 88, of 102 St. John St., Walton, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at 3:45 p.m. at M.I. Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.

He was born April 29, 1910, in Liberty, the son of Floyd and Helen (Noll) Hulse.

He was a retired surveyor from the New York City Board of Water.

He was a 60-year resident of Walton. He was a member of the Walton, Oneonta, Cobleskill and Fort Plain Coin Clubs and an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.

He is survived by four daughters, Judith (Louis) Slyper of St. Cloud, Fla., Donna (Halsey) Wilber of Unadilla, Lois (Jerry) Green of Unadilla and Linda Farberman of Unadilla; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and a special friend, Agnes Reed of Walton.

Funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at 11 a.m. at Lyon Bros.-Way Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Allen Bujno, pastor of First Baptist Church, Walton officiating.

Burial will be at the Green Hill Cemetery, Youngsville.

Calling hours are on Monday, July 27, 1998, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Contributions may be made to the Dialysis Unit, M.I. Bassett Hospital, Atwell Road, Cooperstown, N.Y., 13326.

Arrangements are by the Lyon Bros.-Way Inc., Funeral Home, 102 Delaware St., Walton.

Patsy Sparaco
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — Mr. Patsy Sparaco, 70, of Hickory Hill Circle, Ormond Beach, Fla., died Monday, July 20, 1998, at home.

He was born in Oneonta. He moved to Ormond Beach, Fla., in 1986 from West Oneonta.

He retired in 1986 from the State University College at Oneonta as a stationary engineer.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oneonta and Riveria Golf Club, Ormond Beach, Fla.

He was in the United States Air Force. His interests were gardening and golf.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Ormond Beach of 46 years; three sons, Patrick of Laurens, Gregory of Sparks, Md., Joseph of Laurens; two daughters, Barbara Carn of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Maggie Dick of Ormond Beach, Fla.; one brother, Dominick of Pompano Beach, Fla.; one sister, Angelina Koury of Oneonta and 11 grandchildren.

Graveside service is Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the West Oneonta Cemetery, with the Rev. Don Yarborough, officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Fla., 32119, or American Cancer Society, 1510 Ridgewood Ave., Suite 201, Holly Hill, Fla., 32117.

Myra F. Barnes
COOPERSTOWN JUNCTION — A committal service for Mrs. Myra F. Barnes, who passed away on Dec. 11, 1997, will be held on Monday, July 27, 1998, at 10 a.m. at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery with the Rev. Rodney Johnson, pastor of the Cooperstown Junction Methodist Church officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Louella W. `Sis'
Wright
UNADILLA — Louella W. "Sis" Wright, 53, of Co. Highway 3A, Unadilla died Thursday, July 23, 1998, at The Hospital, Sidney.

She was born, Dec. 30, 1944, in Oneonta, the daughter of Wilford Sr. and Marguerite (Cornell) Washburn.

She was married to Richard W. Wright, Dec. 30, 1972, in Masonville. Mr. Wright died, Dec. 27, 1995.

Mrs. Wright was a lifelong resident of Unadilla, a graduate of Unadilla Central School, a former employee of Amphenol Corp. in Sidney, Mold-A-Matic of Oneonta, and At Home Care of Oneonta.

She was a member of the Unadilla Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Marguerite (Midge) Wright and Amy Wright, both of Unadilla; two stepdaughters, Karen Sastra of Unadilla and Cindy Hawkins of Sidney; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald and Angel Wright and William Wright of Unadilla; her mother, Marguerite Washburn of Unadilla; two sisters, Mary Van Valkenburg and Louise Herbert, both of Unadilla; two brothers, Wilford Jr. (Bud) Washburn and David Washburn, both of Unadilla; also five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; a great-grandson and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kiera Wright in January of 1998.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 1998 at The Unadilla Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul D. Furniss, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in the Walton Cemetery, Walton.

Friends may call at the Westcott Funeral Home, 112 Main St., Unadilla on Monday, July 27, 1998 at their convenience and the family will be in attendance, Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

William `Bill' H.
McAdams
GROTON — William "Bill" H. McAdams, 52, of 111 South Parkway, Groton, died Thursday, July 23, 1998 at the Cayuga Medical Center after becoming ill at home.

Born in Oneonta, he was a son of the late Herbert McAdams and Anna Faulkner McAdams Moore of Delhi, who survives him.

Bill grew up and lived in the Oneonta area and served with the United States Marine Corps. In Vietnam where he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart for his bravery.

He came to the Groton area more than 28 years ago and was employed with Smith Corona in Groton and Cortland for more than 20 years. For the past 5 years, he has been a Social Welfare Examiner with the Tompkins County Department of Social Services in Ithaca.

Bill served on the Board of Directors for the Tompkins Employees Federal Credit Union, a life member of the Coonley-Nojaim Chapter No. 30 Disabled American Veterans, a member of the TC-3 Alumni Association, Carrington-Fuller Post No. 800 American Legion and the Corona Club in Groton.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Trudy L. Ceurter McAdams at home; a daughter, Bridgette (Troy) Sherman of Cortland; a son, Brian (Pamela) McAdams of Groton; three grandchildren, Brianna and Nicolle McAdams and Sydney Sherman; a brother, Michael (Sandra) McAdams of Andes; five sisters, Anna Soules of Tamp, Fla., Katie (Vaughn) Horth of Oneonta, Bonnie (James) Hamm of Meredith, Sharon (Michael) Becker of Fishkill, and Patricia (Eugene) Kelley of Fleischmanns, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams St., Groton. Burial with military honors will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Berkshire.

Friends may call Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Contributions in Bill's memory may be made to the Groton Fire Dept. Ambulance, American Legion Post No. 800 in Groton or to the S.P.C.A. in either Cortland or Tompkins counties.

Mary C. Ashton
UNADILLA — Mary C. Ashton, 91, of Unadilla died Friday, July 24, 1998 at The Hospial in Sidney.

She was born, Aug. 31, 1906 in Unadilla, the daughter of Otto and Desier (McMahon) Crooker.

She was married to T. Edward Ashton, Feb. 11, 1944 in Unadilla. Mr. Ashton died in 1971.

Mrs. Ashton was a lifelong Unadilla resident, attended the former Oneonta Normal School and was a teacher at the Kilkenny one-room schoolhouse for a short time. In 1973, she retired as assistant cashier of the Unadilla branch of Marine Midland Bank, which was the successor of the Unadilla National Bank, following 40 years of service.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Church, Unadilla, New York State Association of Bank Women, Unadilla Community Foundation, a former member and treasurer of the Rosary Society of her church, and for many years was a trustee and treasurer of the Evergreen Hill Cemetery Association in Unadilla.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Robert Hoyt of Binghamton, and several cousins.

She was predeceased by a brother, William Crooker.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 1998 at St. Ambrose Church in Unadilla with the Rev. Gordon A. Polenz, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.

Friends may call at the Westcott Funeral Home, 112 Main St., Unadilla, Thursday, July 30, 1998 from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m., when the family will be in attendance.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Unadilla Emergency Squad or the Hospice of Chenango County, Norwich.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

Geraldine M. Bach
ILION — Geraldine M. Bach, 74, of 15 Third Ave. died on Saturday, July 25, 1998, at her daughter's home in Ilion, after a short illness.

She was born on June 7, 1924, in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late James Stephen and Minnie Louis Foster Dowling.

She was raised and educated in Springfield Gardens.

On Aug. 31, 1940 she married August Albert Bach. They had a loving union of 31 years until his passing on Oct. 10, 1971. On Aug. 11, 1979, she then married Howard Lester Sergeant.

For several years, Geraldine and her family lived in Crocket,  Texas, coming to Fly Creek in 1952, and moving to Ilion in 1983. She had worked as a cook and then as a seamstress for the Johnstown Knitting Mill. She was presently employed with the Greenthumb Program, working at the Country Mart Grocery Store in Schuyler.

Geraldine was always willing and eager to help people. She had the compassion to see only the good in everyone she met and helped. Over the years, she took on various roles as a volunteer. She was instrumental in organizing many support groups in both  Texas and New York for Al-Anon, worked as a Herkimer County Hospice Volunteer, and was a member of the local AARP Chapter. She was presently the coordinator of Widowed Person Services of the Mohawk Valley.

Surviving besides Howard are two sons, Phillip J. and his wife, Evelyn Bach of Crocket,  Texas, Harold L. and his wife, Patricia Bach of New Berlin; two daughters, Adrienne L. and her husband, Douglas Gohde of Middlefield and LauraLee E. Bach of Ilion; a stepdaughter, Melody Fritts and her husband, Keith of West Oneonta; grandchildren, BillyJo Hotaling, Monique Goldman, Jermaine Bach, August (Ziggy), Kurt, Cassandre and Leslie Gohde, Rebecca, Eric, Stacey, Jennifer, Catherine and Travis Bach, Briana Simonds; Adam and Katrina Shroyer, Britney and Sonya Young; two stepgrandchildren, Lacy and Charles Fritts; six great-granchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold, and her grandson, Harold (Ike) Bach in 1995.

Funeral services will be held at Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer, on Wednesday at 9 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk with the Rev. James A. Steuer, pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in Fly Creek Cemetery. Calling hours on Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Harold (Ike) Bach Scholarship Fund care of Unadilla Valley Central School, New Berlin, N.Y. 13411, or Widowed Person Services of Mohawk Valley, 61 West St., Ilion, N.Y. 13357. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Andrew Faber for the tender compassion and loving care he gave to Geraldine, especially during her recent illness.
