Hilda F. Leddy
EAST MEREDITH — Hilda F. Leddy, 76, of East Meredith, died Saturday night, Oct. 24, 1998, at the Oneonta Nursing Home, following an extended illness.
She was born Nov. 20, 1921, in New York City, the daughter of Max and Viola (Berringer) Frankenberg, and married John P. Leddy on Jan. 18, 1941, in the Bronx. Mr. Leddy died June 26, 1980.
A homemaker and former longtime Yonkers resident, Hilda moved to East Meredith in 1979, and was a communicant of St. Theresa of the Little Flower R.C. Church, Davenport Center. She was a baseball enthusiast and an avid fan of the N.Y. Mets and Giants, and had been a resident of the Oneonta Nursing Home since May 1995.
Surviving are two sons, John P. and his wife, Joanne Leddy, of Delhi and Peter A. Leddy of Vestal; a daughter, Margaret and her husband, Paul Lipani, of High Bridge, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Arlene, David, Sean, Christine, and Colleen Leddy, and Tricia, Lauren and Allison Lipani; and an aunt, Helen Beale of Long Island.
She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Michael Leddy in 1996, and Susan Lipani in 1997.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, the family will not be in attendance.
A private funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, with burial following in the East Meredith Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in memory of Hilda Leddy to the West Kortright Centre, R.R. 1, Box 541, East Meredith, N.Y. 13757.
Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi.
Joyce C. Cirigliano
BAINBRIDGE — Joyce C. Cirigliano, 57, of Bainbridge, passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at Robinson Terrace, in Stamford.
She was born Nov. 25, 1940, to Raymond and Harriet Sweeny Wikander in Staten Island.
Joyce graduated form Notre Dame Academy in Staten Island.
She was employed by E.C.D. of Bendix for 10 years. Joyce was an area resident for 26 years.
Her hobbies and loves were her children, grandchildren and her job.
Joyce is survived by her mother, Harriet Wikander of Bainbridge; her husband, James Cirigliano Sr. of Bainbridge; her four sons and daughters-in-law, James Jr. and Leslie Cirigliano of Bainbridge, Dana and Teri Cirigliano of Bainbridge, Wayne and Lucinda Cirigliano of Bainbridge and Scott and Kelli Cirigliano of Bainbridge; her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Marie Wikander of Staten Island; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, at St. John's Catholic Church, Bainbridge, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Bourgeois officiating.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at St. John's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Catholic Church or the Bainbridge Emergency Squad.

Howard C. Kennedy
ORLANDO, Fla. — Howard C. Kennedy of Orlando, Fla., died on Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at Florida South Hospital.
Howard was born in Brooklyn, June 25, 1921, the son of George Robert Kennedy and Amanda (Meyer) Kennedy.
He was married to Geraldine LaGrua on Nov. 1, 1942, in Brooklyn.
Mr. Kennedy was a World War II veteran who, despite an incredibly bad sense of direction, managed to deliver mail to the troops throughout Europe at night without headlights. Following the war Mr. Kennedy worked as a shipfitter for the Brooklyn Navy Yard. He later worked as a contractor on Long Island.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years; his children, Patricia Kennedy and her husband, Jack Schluep, of Oneonta, George and his wife, Debra Kennedy, of Orlando, Fla., and Geraldine Geisler of Oneonta; and grandchildren, John, Daniel, Rae-Marie, Taylor, Richard, and Amanda.
He will always be remembered by those that knew and loved him as a great joker, an incredible fighter and a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Leona Denton
ONEONTA — Leona Hemingway Denton, 101, of Oneonta, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at Fox Hospital Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 28, 1896, in Apalachin, the daughter of Charles W. and Alice (Scott) Hemingway.
She married Herbert Westcott Denton on June 20, 1923, in Oneonta.
She was a housewife, having grown up in Binghamton and after her marriage lived in various parts of the northeast due to her husbands work demands. She resided in Bergin, N.J., Westchester County, Bainbridge, Cape Cod, Mass., Oneonta and later in Florida.
Mrs. Denton was active in civic and community affairs and was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by one granddaughter, Diana Delano of Brewster, Cape Cod, Mass.; two great-grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was predeceased by two younger brothers, two younger sisters, her husband in 1987, and a son, Herbert W. Denton Jr., in 1995.
A private funeral service will be held later at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.
There will be no calling hours.

Betty Bernice Briggs
ONEONTA — Miss Betty Bernice Briggs, 66, of R.D. 2, Oneonta, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at her residence in the town of Davenport.
She was born Aug. 14, 1932, in Sidney, the daughter of Caleb and Florence (Ruff) Briggs.
Betty lived with her sister, Edna Goss, where she enjoyed being with her family and friends. She was an avid collector of greeting cards and enjoyed watching movies.
She is survived by her brother, Mahlon Briggs of Davenport; three sisters, Mrs. Hugh (Helen) Spencer of Norwich, Mrs. Raymond (Edna) Goss Sr., of Oneonta and Mrs. Ralph (Anna) Butler of Laurens; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, from the West Davenport United Methodist Church, West Davenport, with the Rev. Judy Humphery-Fox, pastor of the West Davenport United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Charlotte Valley Cemetery, West Davenport.
There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.

Stanley J. Hugick
JORDANVILLE — Stanley J. Hugick, 71, of Hicks Road, died unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, in his home.
He was born on April 25, 1927, in Richfield Springs, a son of the late Adam P. and Mary T. Papierski Hugick.
A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School.
An honorably discharged United States Marine, he served with Company "B" 1st Battalion 8th and 2nd Marine Division, from 1946 to 1948, and had obtained the rank of corporal. He then went on to the McGill University in Montreal, Canada and Utica College of Syracuse University.
On Aug. 28, 1951, he married Irene Muscynski in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs.
For 16 years he worked for the Chicago Pneumatic Company, retiring in 1971. Stan was a member of St. Joseph Church, Richfield Springs, the Aero Space Machinist Union AIM and AARP.
Surviving besides his loving wife of 47 years, Irene, are four daughters, Arlene Perrin and her husband, Randy, of Fultonville, Linda Mosher and her husband, Charles, and Brenda Hugick, all of Mohawk, Elaine Pacchiana and her husband, Douglas, of Greenwich; one son, Brian Hugick and his wife, Julie, of Cortlandt Manor; seven grandchildren, Sarah and Nathan Perrin, Kayla and Jordan Mosher, Nolan and Oliver Pacchiana and Troy Hugick; three brothers, Casimir Hugick and his wife, Kathy, of Ilion, Paul Hugick and his wife, Ronnie of Richfield Springs, Adam Hugick of Little Falls; a sister, Mary Lawson and her husband, James, of Ontario, Canada; and two sister-in-laws and their husbands, Mary and Richard Smith of Fort Worth, Texas, and Barbara and Michael Phalen of Herkimer.
Stanley was preceded in death by his sister, Jenny Hugick Fountaine.
Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Richfield Springs. Interment will follow in Highland Rural Cemetery, Jordanville.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Edna S. Selleck
UNADILLA — Edna S. Selleck, 87, of Unadilla, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at the N.Y.S. Veterans Home, Oxford.
She was born, Aug. 1, 1911, in Delhi, the daughter of Frank and Annie (Charlesworth) Smith.
She was married to Raymond F. Selleck, March 31, 1928, in St. John's Episcopal Church in Delhi. Mr. Selleck died on Aug. 1,1970.
She had been a resident of Unadilla since 1951, and was a retired employee of Amphenol Corp. of Sidney.
She was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Unadilla, member of Joyce-Bell Post No. 578 Auxiliary of Unadilla and a past county president, Unadilla Fireman's Auxiliary and a past county president, Sidney Women of the Moose, and a member of Happy Times Senior Citizens of Wells Bridge and the Unadilla Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Selleck is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Raymond F. and Jean Selleck and Ralph G. Selleck of Unadilla; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth S. and William Goodrich of Wells Bridge; a sister, Laura Louise Hotaling of Sidney; nine grandchildren, Frank Selleck, Donna French and Brenda Brunner of Unadilla, Raylene Hackett of Afton, Jacqlene Rose of Sidney, Michelle Pomeroy of Oneida, Michael Goodrich of Factoryville, Pa., Lorraine Barber of Wells Bridge and Scott Goodrich of Denver, Colo.; 19 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Lester Smith in 1959.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla, with the Rev. John L. Scott, rector of Christ Church, Gilbertsville, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.
Friends may call at the funeral home, Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at their convenience. The family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Unadilla Fire Department Building Fund.

Arthur Connolly
ONEONTA — Arthur R. "Rob" Connolly, 49, of Oneonta, died suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at the A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta.
He was born on Dec. 29, 1948, in Engelwood, N.J., the son of Arthur R. and Elizabeth (Stalter) Connolly. His father died on Aug. 10, 1992.
Rob graduated from Clarkstown High School in Congers and attended Ferris College in Michigan.
He moved to the Oneonta area from Nanuet in 1995, to be with his mother. He worked in customer service at Wal-Mart and also tended bar at the Clinton Pub. Rob was known for his warm, friendly personality and love of sports.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Connolly of East Meredith; his aunt, Thelma Connolly; and several cousins, including Arthur R. and Richard J. Connolly. He is also survived by several friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at 10 a.m. at the Lester R. Grummon Funeral Home, Oneonta, with the Rev. Judy Humphrey-Fox, pastor of the Davenport United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Charlotte Valley Cemetery, Davenport.
Friends may call Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta, at which time the family will be in attendance.
The family has declined flowers.
Rob gave the gift of organs, so that others may benefit.

Audrey H. Couse
COLUMBUS — Audrey H. Couse, 21, of the town of Columbus, died at the M.I. Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998.
She was born Nov. 29, 1976, the daughter of Floyd and Ruth Anne Kemp Couse.
She attended schools in Brookfield, New Berlin, and BOCES Special Education Class of Oxford.
She is survived by her parents; three sisters, Marlene Bruno of Garrattsville, Daffney Nicoletti of Oneida, and Peggie Couse of Sherburne; and two brothers, Malcomb Kemp of Utica and Robert Sprague of Binghamton. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles also survive.
Friends and family may call at the Wm. W. Kehoe Funeral Home, Sherburne, on Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, the Rev. "Chuck" Taylor will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
Lawrence Thrower
SIDNEY — Lawrence "Larry" Thrower, 51, died unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, while fighting a fire for Phelps Hose Co. No. 1, Sidney.
A firematic funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at the Phelps Hose Company No. 1, Training Center on River Street, Sidney, at 11 a.m., the Rev. Elliot Oakes, Delaware County fire and police chaplain will be leading the service.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. There will be a service Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. by Phelps Hose Co. No. 1.
