Dorothy Bainbridge
ONEONTA — Mrs. Dorothy Bainbridge, 72, formerly of Mechanic Street, Amsterdam, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 10, 1998, at the Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta.

She was born on Nov. 24, 1925, in Brooklyn, the daughter of James and Margaret Moran Ouchterloney. She moved to Amsterdam in 1954, and to Oneonta several years ago.

Mrs. Bainbridge was employed for 35 years as a central service aid by St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, retiring in 1990.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Amsterdam.

She was married on Sept. 29, 1962, to Charles H. Bainbridge. He died on June 8, 1988.

She is survived by a niece, Karen Babbitt of Morris; two nephews, Robert Liddell and William Liddell, both of Oneonta; and several cousins.

The funeral service will be held Friday morning, Nov. 13, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. James Guiley officiating. The interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam.

A private memorial service will be later in Oneonta at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Henry `Hank' Habinc
WORCESTER — Henry "Hank" Habinc, 72, of Worcester, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born Jan. 25, 1926, in Worcester, the son of Anton and Anna (Lepsina) Habinc.

He married Jeanette  White on Sept. 23, 1949, in Hopkinsville.

Hank was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II from 1946 to 1947.

He was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Worcester Central School.

Hank was the treasurer, superintendent and was on the board of trustees for the Maple Grove Cemetery Association in Worcester, since 1985. Earlier in life he worked with his brother, Larry, for the M.L. Habinc Contracting Company doing excavating work.

Hank was a member of the Worcester United Methodist Church, past member of the Worcester Hose Company, and was the treasurer for 21 years, and was the treasurer and secretary for the Worcester Fire District for 32 years.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Habinc of Worcester; a daughter, Linda Graves of Cooperstown; a brother and sister-in-law, Milan (Larry) and Toni Habinc of Decatur; a sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Donald Woodbeck of Worcester; a brother-in-law, Melvin Force of Worcester; four nephews, Gary Woodbeck, Donald Habinc and Frank and Joseph Sablyak; two nieces, Patricia Mattison and Barbara Jorden.

He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Alice Force and Caroline Sablyak; and his nephew, David Woodbeck.

Hank will be truly missed by many.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at the Worcester United Methodist Church, Main Street, Worcester, with the Rev. Joyce Allen, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Worcester, with military honors presented by the Worcester American Legion Post 1584.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with the family in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 115 Main St., Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of Hank to the Worcester Fire Department, 10 Church St., Worcester; Worcester Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 191, Worcester; or the Worcester United Methodist Church, Main Street, Worcester, N.Y. 12197.

Funeral arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester.

John E. Geiselmann
DANSVILLE — John E. Geiselmann, 78, of Greenmount Avenue, in Dansville, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, in the emergency room at Noyes Memorial Hospital after being stricken at a friends home.

He was born in New York City on Jan. 11, 1920, the twin brother of Harrison Geiselmann, to John A. and Grace Walley Geiselmann.

On Aug. 10, 1946, he was married to the former Virginia Ann Lidell who died in 1977.

John was a United States Army veteran of World War II serving with his brother, who were both medics, in the 104th Timberwolf Division. John was the recipient of the Purple Heart after being wounded in Germany.

He was an active member of the Alumni Association at Hartwick College where he received his bachelor's of science in education. John was an all-star basketball player at Hartwick, which in recognition of his outstanding basketball ability held a "Johnny Geiselmann Basketball Night." He received his master's of science in guidance counseling from Syracuse University and became employed by the Dansville Central School District in 1958. John retired as a guidance counselor in 1977, after 19 years of service.

John was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Dansville and was active in Clara Barton Chapter No. 1 of the American Red Cross. He was a former member of the Phoenix Lodge F&AM and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Dansville.

John is survived by his son, Christopher (Carol) Geiselmann of Loon Lake; a daughter, Gail (David) Browning of Esperance; his twin brother, Harrison (Audrey) Geiselmann of Englewood, Fla.; and his grandchildren, Lee Geiselmann and Brian and Susan Browning.

Friends may call Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Dansville. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Clara Barton Chapter No. 1 of the American Red Cross, 57 Elizabeth St., Dansville, N.Y. 14437.

Charles M. Grant
FRANKLIN — Charles M. "Charlie" Grant, 84, of Franklin, died on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at his residence.

He was born on June 3, 1914, in Bloomville, the son of A. Harris and Mildred (Diihr) Grant.

He married Marion Banks on May 1, 1936, in Laurens. She died on Jan. 12, 1989.

Charlie attended the Delhi Agricultural School. He worked for the Franklin Central School District, as a bus driver for 30 years (1945-1975). He was also a self-employed dairy farmer, Charlie owned and operated his own farm until April 1983. Farming was his life, and he dedicated many long hours of labor.

Charlie was most known in Franklin for his infamous apple cider. Neighbors would stop by to test the latest batch and share many stories. Most of all, he was a man of his word and will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Barbara J. Grant, Richard J. Grant, Joan E. and Ralph Place, all of Franklin, Gary and Cindy Grant of Maryland, and Pat and Fred Driggs of Franklin; his 10 grandchildren and their spouses, David and Laurie Grant, Lori and Randy Jennings, Kimberly and Kevin Place, Brian Craig, Stephanie, Geoffrey and  Taylor Grant, James Thomas IV, and Michael Driggs; and one great-grandson, Alexander Charles Grant. He is also survived by his half-sisters and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charlie was predeceased by his three brothers, Gordon, Walter and Donald Grant.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, at 2 p.m., at the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Andrea  White, pastor of Aldrich Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.

Friends may call Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home, Franklin, at which time the family will be in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin Fire Department or the Franklin Emergency Squad.

Arrangements are by the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home, Franklin.

Emma Macomber
SPRINGFIELD CENTER — Mrs. Emma Jeanette Macomber, 79, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Basset Healthcare, Cooperstown.

She was born on April 20, 1919, in the town of Springfield, the daughter of Cernell and Elizabeth (Hecox) Belyea.

She married Harry C. Macomber on Dec. 29, 1938, in the Presbyterian Church, Cherry Valley. He predeceased her in 1992.

Mrs. Macomber was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Van Hornesville School. She was a housewife and mother. She worked for Carey Meade-Tom Goodyear, J.J. Newberry and the Clark Estate.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church and St. Mary's Alter Guild, Springfield Center, Springfield Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Boonville V.F.W.

Mrs. Macomber is survived by a daughter, Merri Lynn (Macomber) Fish and her husband, Ward Fish of Fly Creek; a son, Kenneth Macomber and his wife, Rosemary (Brezina) Macomber of Martinsburg, Pa.; grandchildren, James D. Fish and Karen, Alvin W. and Merrie Sue Gardner, Timothy C. Fish and Corinne, William Wallen and Elizabeth Anne Kinsley, Thomas P. Fish and Alicia, Mary Elizabeth and Martin Gutshall; great-grandchildren, Cassandra Gutshall, Samuel and Jeanette Gardner, Eric, Loretta, and Janet Fish, Matthew and Shelbi Kinsley, Jacob Wallen, Thomas Parker II, and Amanda Fish.

Cremation will take place at the Leatherstocking Crematory Inc., Cherry Valley.

A graveside memorial service will be held in the Springfield Cemetery at noon, on Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, with the Rev. Persis Williams officiating. Burial will follow.

Contributions in Mrs. Macomber's memory may be made to the Springfield Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary or the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Marjorie May  White
WORCESTER — Marjorie May  White, 65, of Worcester, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at her residence, unexpectedly.

She was born May 27, 1933, in Seward, the daughter of Ernest and Lucy (Lane) Mickel.

She married Irvin J.  White, Oct. 23, 1953, in Worcester. He predeceased her in 1991.

Mrs.  White was a lifelong area resident and over the years was employed at Walt's Restaurant in Worcester, Astrocom in Colliersville and the State University College at Oneonta in the food service department.

She is survived by her mother, Lucy Mickel of Schenevus; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Gwen  White of Laurens and Robert and Terri  White of Worcester; one daughter, Brenda Webster of Maryland; one stepdaughter, Erma Clapper of Central Bridge; four grandchildren, Shawn and Danny  White of Laurens and Robert and Meghan  White of Worcester; a brother, Earnest "Sonny" Mickle of Schenevus; two sisters, Dorothy and her husband, Neil Richards, of Milford and Catherine Gergich of Maryland; one sister-in-law, Joan Mickle of Oneonta; her special friend, Don Mooney of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

She was predeceased by her father.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at the E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Joyce Allen, pastor of the Worcester United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Cemetery, Maryland.

Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Worcester Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 191, Worcester, N.Y. 12197.

Arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester.

Vaughn Congdon
RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Vaughn Congdon, 81, of Auburn, formerly of Richfield Springs, died on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, in the Auburn Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Nov. 22, 1916, in Springfield, a son of the late Thayer and Bertha McManus Congdon.

Vaughn was raised and educated in Springfield. An honorably discharged United States Army veteran, he served our country in World War II. After the war he worked on the Congdon Family Dairy Farm, which was located on Allen's Lake Road, and in later years for various dairy farms in the area.

Surviving are two sisters, Madeline Layman of Richfield Springs and Goldie and her husband, Robert Jump, of Effort, Pa.; two nephews, James and his wife, Jean Jump, and Ruben Jump.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin and Paul Congdon, and a sister, Bertha Congdon.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at 2 p.m. in Lakeview Cemetery, with the Rev. John Wilde, pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting, officiating, with full military honors. There are no calling hours.

Funeral arrangements were made with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.

Edna P. Martin
SCHENECTADY — Edna P. Martin, 95, of Scotia, formerly of Schenectady and Winter Haven, Fla., died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at the Baptist Retirement Center in Scotia.

She was born July 16, 1903, in South Valley, the daughter of Orra and Euleta (Barnes) Rury.

She married Elmer L. Martin. He predeceased her in 1985.

She is survived by a sister, Ella Manchester of Schenectady; a brother, Carl Rury of Windsor; two nieces, Florence Reed of Oreana, Ill., and Sylvia Boyce of Lafayette,  Calif.; two nephews, Francis Rury of Cherry Valley and Robert Larsen of Schenectady; and many grandnieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Minnie R. Dibble and Sylvia Price, and a brother, Walter Rury.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at 2 p.m., at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester, the Rev. Joyce Allen, pastor of the Worcester United Methodist Church, will be officiating.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Baptist Retirement Center, 217 No. Ballston Ave., Scotia, N.Y. 12302.

Funeral arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., Funeral Chapel, 115 Main St., Worcester.

Mildred L. Burns
SOUTH LANCASTER, Mass. — Mildred L. Burns, 88, of South Lancaster, Mass., and formerly of Worcester, died suddenly on Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at Clinton Hospital, Clinton, Mass.

She was born Dec. 26, 1909, in Syracuse, the daughter of Charles E. and Eva (Lowe) Mead.

She married George W. Griffin and then Virgel Burns, both of whom have predeceased her.

Mrs. Burns moved to Worcester in 1977. She spent the winters in Florida and 1½ years ago moved to South Lancaster, Mass.

Mrs. Burns was a chemist for several chemical and petroleum engineering laboratories. She retired from Mobil Oil in Venezuela, South America, where she was a chemist testing cores.

She was a member of the Oneonta Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Les Slater of Schoharie; a son and daughter-in-law, George F. and Gwendolyn Griffin of Worcester; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Alton Mead.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at the E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester.

The Rev. John Clayburn, pastor of the Oneonta Seventh Day Adventist Church, will officiate.

Burial will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Russell Mead Cemetery, Farmers Mills.

Calling hours will be from 6 p.m. until service time at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of Mrs. Burns to the Oneonta Seventh Day Adventist Church, 634 State Highway 205, Oneonta, N.Y. 13820.

Funeral arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester.
