John Kristofik
 Washington, Mass. — Mr. John Kristofik, 81, of  Washington, Mass., formerly of Oneonta, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at the Mapleview Nursing Home,  Washington, Mass.

He was born Aug. 16, 1917, in Manhattan, New York City, the son of Paul and Anna Phillips.

John was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II.

He is survived by his two daughters, Elaine Steiner of Laurens and Charlene Bell of Tully; three sons, Dough Kristofik of Laurens, John Elliott Kristofik of Morris and Terry Kristofik of  West Virginia; one brother, Frank Kristofik of Pindars Corners; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by one sister, Sophie Herwitz.

John will be cremated at the Hillington Crematory, Morris.

Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, on Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m. when the family will be present.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

Elizabeth Wranovics
HOBART — Mrs. Elizabeth Wranovics, 95, formerly of Margaretville, more recently of Hobart, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1998, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

She was born Dec. 6, 1902, in Myjava, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Rudolf and Anna (Ruzicka) Jekel.

Mrs. Wranovics came to the United State in 1922.

She married Ernest Wranovics on July 11, 1926, in Staten Island. Mr. Wranovics died in July 1947.

When she first came to the United States, she worked as a maid. On July 11, 1926, she and her husband bought a large farm in Dry Brook in Arkville. From 1935-1962 the farm was a wholesale florist and vegetable business, conducted by the family. The flowers were raised there and shipped to New York City and chrysanthemums were propogated and shipped all over the United States and Canada. Mrs. Wranovics moved to Margaretville in 1969 and became a housekeeper for Father Kelleher in Margaretville, then moved with him to Windham, Lake Luzerne and Schenectady. She came to live in Hobart with her daughter in September.

She is survived by three sons, Francis Wranovics of Brooksville, Fla, Joseph Wranovics of Halcottsville and Edwin Wranovics of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Evans of Hobart and Mrs. John (Anna) Cooke of Gaithersburg, Md.; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews, all in Europe.

She was predeceased by a son, Michael Wranovics, and one brother and two sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Margaretville.

The Very Rev. Robert Purchell of Sacred Heart Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Margaretville Cemetery.

Family will be present at the Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville from 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Contributions to the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church of Margaretville will be appreciated.

Funeral arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Ella Young
SARATOGA SPRINGS — Ella Hurlburt Decker Young, of Loughberry Mobile Home Park, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at Saratoga Hospital. She was 83.

Born on Dec. 27, 1914, in Gilbertsville, she was the daughter of the late Bertram and Abigail (Baker) Hurlburt and resided in Saratoga Springs for the past four years.

A former resident of Sidney for many years, she also had resided at Arnold Lake (Milford).

She had worked for 25 years with the Bendix Aviation Corp., retiring in 1979. She also was a beautician for many years and operated Ella's Beauty Shop at her home on Union Street in Sidney.

She was a life member and past president of the American Legion Charles Jacobi Post 183, was a life member of Sidney Chapter 255 Order of the Eastern Star and was a life member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Sidney. She enjoyed her family, home arts and was an avid gardener.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Asa C. Decker Sr., in 1979 and Wendell "Pete" Young, who died in 1992; and seven brothers.

She is survived by one daughter, Donna L. Armer of Ballston Spa; one son, Asa C. Decker Jr. of Johnstown; two stepsons, Jack Young of Cobleskill and William Young of Manlius; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Sidney.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the William J. Burke and Sons Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, N.Y. 12866; or to Christ Church Building Fund, c/o Rev. Derek Roy, rector, 10 West High St., Ballston Spa, N.Y. 12020.

Columbus E. Murray
HARTWICK — Columbus Eugene Murray, 83, of Hartwick, and formerly of Burgaw, N.C., died early Friday morning, Nov. 20, 1998, at his daughter's residence in Hartwick.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Martha J. Dyer of Hartwick; one son, Cornelius Eugene Murray of Raleigh, N.C.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

A funeral service will be held at the Mount Holly Baptist Church in Bergaw, N.C. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial donations may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., 542 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820.

The family of Columbus E. Murray would like to thank the Otsego County Public Health Nursing staff for the tender loving care that they gave him during the past four years.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow and Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown and the Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Bergaw, N.C.

Janice A. Selzner
ONEONTA — Janice Angela Selzner, 47, of Oneonta, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Oneonta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Oneonta.

Friends may call at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. On Monday, friends may call at their convenience and the family will be in attendance from 7-9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Janice Selzner Memorial Fund, c/o Franklin Central School, Franklin, N.Y. 13775.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Janice A. Selzner
ONEONTA — Janice Angela Selzner, 47, of Oneonta died Thursday evening, Nov. 19, 1998, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Oneonta.

She was born Feb. 1, 1951, in  Jackson Heights, the daughter of John and Marcella (Temple) Reidy.

She married Dennis H. Selzner on Sept. 18, 1971, in Wantagh.

Janice received a bachelor's degree from the State University College at Oneonta, along with continuing her studies in its graduate program.

Currently, she taught seventh- through ninth-grade English in the Franklin Central School District, and for a period of time served as the girls softball coach.

Janice was a founding member and past president of the Catskill Area Teachers of English, and a member of the National Council of Teachers of English. She was a member and past president of the Franklin Teachers' Association. Currently, she was serving as its vice president. Janice was also a member of the National Education Association, and was recognized in "Who's Who in American Teachers."

She was a member of St. Mary's Church, the founder of the Oneonta Craft Club, and was a former Girl Scout troop leader.

Janice will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and sister, a caring friend, and a devoted teacher. She will be missed.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis H. Selzner of Oneonta; two daughters, Ryan A. and Rebecca R. Selzner of Oneonta; a brother, Jason Reidy and his wife, Jane Cowhey of Wantagh; a sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne Reidy and Ronald Raby, and their children, Kevin, Brian and Kayte of Medford; a brother-in-law, Thomas Selzner and his wife, Donna, and their children, Amanda and Maegen of Bellmore. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Eleanor Selzner of Bellmore, along with several aunts and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Oneonta. A private committal service will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Emmons.

Friends may call at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home in Oneonta today at their convenience. The family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Janice Selzner Memorial Scholarship Fund, care of Franklin Central School, Franklin, N.Y. 13775.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Gordon C. Anderson
LAURENS — Gordon C. Anderson, 61, of Laurens passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, in Guilford.

He was born Feb. 17, 1937, to the late Wyno and Madeline Davis Anderson in Franklin.

Gordon served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1953-1957.

He was a member of the American Legion, Laurens.

Gordon was an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-laws, Michael and Kim Anderson of Guilford, Troy and Patricia Anderson of Oneonta and Brad Anderson of Cooperstown; two daughters and son-in-law, Christa Anderson of Sidney and Catrina and Rick Walker of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Clifford and Louise Anderson of Mt. Home, Idaho and Fred and Ellie West of Otego; two uncles, Carl Davis of Jacksonville, Fla. and Halbert Davis of Cortland; six grandchildren, Justin and Theresa Anderson, Chelsy and Brandy Walker, Troy and Tyler Anderson.

He was predeceased by a brother, David Anderson.

Friends may call Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel. The Rev. David Masland of the United Methodist Church, Sidney will officiate. Burial will be in Laurens Cemetery, Laurens.

Memorial contributions may be made to Chenango County Hospice.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers, Inc., Sidney.

Jennie Ennamorato
ONEONTA — Jennie Ennamorato, 90, of Oneonta died Saturday evening, Nov. 21, 1998, at the A.O. Fox Hospital Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 1984.

She was born Jan. 12, 1908, in West Davenport, the daughter of Salvatore and Tressie (Donanna) Kelly. She married Vito Ennamorato on Jan. 23, 1926, in Oneonta. He died on April 3, 1958.

A lifelong area resident, and a homemaker, Mrs. Ennamorato was a member of St. Mary's Church.

She is survived by her children, Andrew Ennamorato of Oneonta, Rose Marie Laterra of East Syracuse, Sullivan Ennamorato of Montour Falls, Anthony Ennamorato of Columbus, Ohio, Michael Ennamorato of Kirkville, and Mary Hunt of Cicero; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Kelly of Oneonta, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Paul Roman, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Emmons.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church or A.O. Fox Hospital Nursing Home.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Louise A. King
SCHENEVUS — Louise A. King, 79, of Schenevus, formerly of Mattydale, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at her home.

She was born Nov. 10, 1919, in Marquette, Mich., the daughter of Walter C. and Wilhelmina (Busse) Koepp.

She married Alphonse J. King on Aug. 10, 1940, in Marquette, Mich., he died on July 23, 1981.

Louise was born and raised in Marquette, Mich. She and her family moved to Syracuse in 1942. She lived in Mattydale for 42 years, moving to Schenevus in 1995.

She attended St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church in Mattydale and St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Schenevus.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Frank Heller of Schenevus and Sheila and Walter Jr. (Bud) Pare of Liverpool; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Marie King of Liverpool; nine grandchildren, Deborah Makofske of Schenevus, Richard Heller of Tennessee, Kathleen Pietrobono and Michael Heller, both of Schenevus, Daniel Pare of Michigan, James Pare of Jamestown, Christopher Pare of Syracuse, Lori Ryan of Michigan and David King of Liverpool; seven great-grandchildren, Victoria Makofske, Kyle, Kelly Joseph, Samantha and Brian Pare, Teryn Michael Pietrobono and Amanda Louise Heller; a sister, Grace Gross of Phoenix; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her brother, Louie C. Koepp.

A committal prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery in Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in loving memory of Louise to Catskill Area Hospice Inc. and Palliative Care Inc., 542 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820 or the American Diabetes Association, Eastern Regional Office, 50 Colvin Ave., Albany, N.Y. 12206.

Funeral arrangements are by Heller Funeral Home, 10 Arch St., Schenevus.
