H. Harvey Eldredge
BUEL — Mr. H. Harvey Eldredge, 84, passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, after being stricken at home.

He was born Dec. 26, 1913, in Buel, the son of Harry and Jennie (Bellman) Eldredge.

On Oct. 17, 1934, he married Laura E. Winnie in Hartwick.

Mr. Eldredge attended Sharon Springs Central School, he owned and operated the family dairy farm in Buel for many years. He was a life member of Presbyterian Buel-Cherry Valley Church, member and past master of Cherry Valley Lodge No. 334 A&FM, and a member of the Sprout Brook Rod and Gun Club.

Mr. Eldredge was an avid sportman, enjoying hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Eldredge of Buel; two daughters, Donna Hodge of Scotia and Alice and her husband, James Crosier, of Fort Plain; four sons and their wives, Leslie H. and Kathleen Eldredge of Canajoharie, Richard C. and Sandra Eldredge of Ilion, Harold J. and Diane Eldredge of Sharon Springs and Dennis D. and Mary Jo Eldredge of Clifton Park; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ina Lambert of Sharon Springs; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Eldredge was predeceased by two sisters, Beulah Ullman and Laura Slater.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Ottman Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Cherry Valley, with the Rev. John Clark, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Schuyler Lake, officiating. Burial will take place in the Fort Plain Cemetery at a later date.

Calling hours will take place on Sunday, Dec. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 8 p.m.

Contributions in Mr. Eldredge's memory may be made to the Masonic Medical Research Lab, Utica.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Doris M. Walker
ROXBURY — Doris M. Walker, 69, of Roxbury, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, in Roxbury.

She was born Sept. 7, 1929, in New York City, the daughter of Alice Swenson and Eric  Johnson of Sweden.

She married Stewart E. Walker on May 27, 1949, in Newton, N.J. He died March 4, 1993.

She was an elementary teacher at Lakeland Christian School in New Jersey.

She moved from Andover, N.J., to Woolwine, Va., and to Roxbury in 1996, where she was a resident of Kirkside Adult Home.

She graduated from Houghton College. She was a member of the Stanley Town Baptist Church. She was very active in church, a Sunday School teacher, active with Hospital Visitation of Prison Ministry, New Jersey.

Jesus, others and you, what a wonderful way to spell Joy — one of her favorite quotes.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen Walker of Roxbury and Jonathon Walker of Michigan; two sisters, her twin sister, Mary  Woods of Jupiter, Fla., and Betty Stickle of Fort Myers, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Sharon Marie Moon, and her mother, Alice Clifford.

Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church, Roxbury, with the Rev. Richard Dykstra officiating. Burial will be in the Henry Memorial Park, Martinsville, Va., at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998.

Calling hours are on Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.

Contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice or Kirkside Adult Home, Roxbury.

Funeral arrangements are by the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.

Maynard G. Elderkin
WALTON — Maynard G. "Moe" Elderkin, 73, of 67 St. John St., Walton, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at 1:36 a.m., at the Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton.

He was born Feb. 27, 1925, in Franklin, the son of Harold and Reatha (Walley) Elderkin.

He married Betty La Frano on March 21, 1946, in Walton, at the Congregational Church Parsonage. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 23, 1996.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a retired employee of Agway, Inc., and a former self-employed trucker.

He was a resident since 1946, after his marriage and returning from World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Elderkin of Walton; his children, Donna (William) Thomson of Walton, Thomas (Tonda) Elderkin of Evansville, Ind., Jack (Cathy) Elderkin of Walton and Sharon (William) Hobbie of Walton; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace (Charles) Fletcher of El Paso,  Texas; two brothers, Melvin (Judy) Elderkin of Oneonta and Harold (Linda) Elderkin of Franklin; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be on Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at 11 a.m., at the Lyon Bros.-Way Inc. Funeral Chapel, Walton, with the Rev. David George officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lyon Bros.-Way, Inc. Funeral Chapel.

Contributions may be made to the Walton Emergency Squad.

Funeral arrangements are by Lyon Bros.-Way Inc. Funeral Home, Walton.

Olga Cembrinski
WEST WINFIELD — Olga Cembrinski, 80, of West Winfield, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at the M.I. Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, after a brief illness.

She was born Feb. 21, 1918, in New York City, the daughter of Stephen and Vera Kuleba Cembrinski.

She was a graduate of West Winfield High School and was a self-employed dairy farmer.

Olga had been a resident of West Winfield for 60 years, and also lived in Poughkeepsie. She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Colling of Schenectady; two nieces, Debra McDermott of Schenectady and Sandi Cembrinski of Orlando, Fla.; and three nephews, Stephen Cembrinski of Cooperstown, Ruston Cembrinski of Chester, N.J., and Wesley Colling of Schenectady.

Olga was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Butterworth in 1995, and a brother, Stephen Cembrinski in 1978.

The funeral service will be Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at 2 p.m., at the Wilcox-Dimbleby Funeral Home, 365 West Main St., West Winfield, with the Rev. Loren G. House Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Cedarville Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, from noon until the funeral time.

Shirley Daniels Rosen
ONEONTA — Shirley Daniels Rosen, 74, of Oneonta, and formerly of Utica, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born March 26, 1924, the daughter of Marvin and Charlotte Pincus of Buffalo.

On Sept. 10, 1949, she married Jules Daniels of Utica. Mr. Daniels passed away in January 1984. In 1989, she married Sam T. Rosen and moved to Oneonta.

Shirley managed The Daniels Jewelers firm, of 54 years, with her daughter, Wendy Jeffrey H. Franz of Frankfort, and Emma Kotch of Utica.

While living in Utica she was a member of Temple Emanuel and its sisterhood.

She is survived by her husband, Sam T. Rosen of Oneonta; a daughter, Wendy Daniels-Rock and son-in-law, Carl A. Rock of Marcy; her brother, James N. Pincus of Sarasota, Fla.; grandchildren, Wayne and Glenn Daniels of Utica; stepchildren, Susan Rosen of Albany and Barry Rosen of San Francisco,  Calif.

She leaves many supportive relatives and close friends in Buffalo, Oneonta and Utica.

She was predeceased by a stepson, Peter A. Daniels of Utica.

The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta, with the Rabbi Donald Roberts of Oneonta officiating. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. at the Temple Emanuel Cemetery, Roberts Road, Sauquoit.

There will be no calling hours.

The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820 or to the charity of one's choice.

William Carl Hastings
JEFFERSON — William Carl Hastings, 88, of  Jefferson died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at Robinson Terrace, Stamford.

Carl was born Dec. 10, 1910, in Gilboa, the son of Luther M. and Jennie M. (Carl) Hastings. He was never married.

He graduated from Stamford Seminary in 1929, and from Albany Business College in 1931. Carl was a resident of the  Jefferson area most of his life, where he owned and operated a dairy farm until he retired in 1979.

He was a member of the  Jefferson United Methodist Church, the Ramona Grange in  Jefferson, and a life member of the  Jefferson Senior Citizens.

Carl is survived by two sisters, Katherine Sloan of Oneonta and Marjorie Frazee of Stamford. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at the  Jefferson United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles Gockel, pastor, officiating. The burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery,  Jefferson. Friends may call at the  Jefferson United Methodist Church between 10 and 11 a.m. prior to service at which time the family will be in attendance.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Carl's memory to the  Jefferson United Methodist Church, Main Street,  Jefferson, N.Y. 12093.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford-Grand Gorge.

George L. Jones
HARPERSFIELD — George L. Jones, 76, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at his home.

He was born June 22, 1922, in Grand Gorge, the son of William and Grace Newcomb Jones.

He married Rina Faoro on Oct. 15, 1951, in Stamford.

He was in the United States Army serving in the South Pacific, 1944-46.

He was a journeyman lineman in electrical construction for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1249 in Syracuse.

He was a member of the IBEW Local 1249 from January 1951 until his retirement in July 1984.

He is survived by his wife, Rina at home; two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Marion) Daniels of Plattsburg and Betty  Jones and (Ed Hunter) of Stamford; a son, Mr. George W. (Mozhgan)  Jones of Gloversville; four grandchildren, Jesse and Jan Daniels, Nema and Mona Zohrehvond; one sister, Mrs. Marion Govern of Stamford and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two half sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Bassani of East Meredith and Mrs. Alice Titus of Oneonta; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Harold (Pete)  Jones and two half-brothers, Edward  Jones and David Jones.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Stamford, with the Rev. Father Joseph Cebula officiating. Burial will be at the Fair View Cemetery, Grand Gorge. Calling hours are Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Stamford Rescue Squad.

Arrangements are by MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Harry Hults Jr.
WESTFORD — Harry Hults Jr., 66, of Westford, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, suddenly in his auto body shop in Westford.
He was born June 1, 1932, in Oceanside, the son of Harry Sr. and Sophie Hults.

He married Mary Ann Monteleone on Feb. 4, 1954, in Houston,  Texas. She predeceased him on March 7, 1987.

Harry owned and operated a body shop in Lindenhurst. In 1970, he moved to Westford and opened Harry Hults' Auto Body & Used Cars. Harry was a founding and life member of the Garage Men's Association. He loved flying his ultra-light airplane and enjoyed driving through the countryside.

He is survived by his eight children, Betty Giessler of South Dakota, Debra Del Vecchio of Worcester, Linda Winchester of Worcester, Harry Hults III, Guy Hults, Gene Hults and Glenn Hults, all of Indiana, and Virginia Hults of  South Carolina; his companion of 10 years, Patricia Boest of Westford; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two brothers, Frank Hults of Union City, N.J., and John Hults of Schenevus; three sisters, Janet Schubert of Nevada, Mary Hults and Ruthie Hultis, both of  Texas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.

He was predeceased by two brothers, George and Ralph Hults, and two grandchildren, Apphia and Claydia Giessler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Worcester. The Rev. Edward Ryan, retired, will be the celebrant. Burial will take place in the spring at the Westford Cemetery, Westford.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 115 Main St., Worcester.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in loving memory of Harry to the American Heart Association, 120 Lomond Court, Lomond Place Office Park, Utica, N.Y. 13502.

Funeral arrangements are by E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester.

J. Elizabeth McIntosh
BLOOMVILLE — J. Elizabeth "Betty" McIntosh, 81, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at O'Connor Hospital, Delhi.

She was born March 27, 1917, in Oneonta, the daughter of Charles and Mary Seiple Scutt.

She married the late Harry W. McIntosh. He died March 23, 1996.

She was a housewife and a lifelong resident.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bloomville Fire Department. She attended Bloomville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, William, and his wife, Joyce, of Bloomville; four daughters, JoAnne Bower and her husband, Daniel, Joyce Rockefeller and her husband, Harry, and Janis Beken, all of Bloomville, and Jane McIntosh-Martin and her husband, Steve, of Davenport; a daughter-in-law, Beverly McIntosh of South Kortright; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Kate Coager of Bloomville; cousin, John Lucas of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; nephew, Terry Lee Scutt of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McIntosh was predeceased by a son, Robert, two grandchildren, Robert (Dubba) and Rebecca, and a brother, Jack Scutt.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at 2 p.m. at the Bloomville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Clinton Lunt, officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Bloomville.

Calling hours will take place Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Bloomville Emergency Squad.

Funeral arrangements are by the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.
