Grace N. Netherton
ONEONTA — Mrs. Grace N. Netherton, 91, of Oneonta, formerly of Endicott, died Sunday evening, Feb. 7, 1999, at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta.

She was born July 29, 1907, in Pottsville, Pa., the daughter of George and Margaret (Oliver) Bell.

She married Clarence Netherton on June 12, 1927. Mr. Netherton died in 1958.

Grace was a self-employed hairdresser in Endicott for many years. She was a resident of Endicott most of her life until she moved to Oneonta in March of 1996.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Endicott, a member of the Broome County Home Bureau, an instructor of the Girls Club of Endicott and the Indian Hills Council of Girl Scouts.

Grace is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Donald (Linda) Murdock of Sarasota, Fla., Mrs. Steven (Debra) Reinhardt of Southbury, Conn., and Bette Turner of Inola, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Peter Murdock of Danbury, Conn., Lara Murdock of Sarasota, Fla., David Quick of Oneonta, Robert Reinhardt of Southbury, Conn., James, Robert, Charles and Raymond Turner of  Oklahoma; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral and committal services will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at 8 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Richard Breuninger officiating. Burial will be on Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Saint Clair, Pa., at 11 a.m.

Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, from 7 p.m. until service time, when the family will be present.

Joseph Re-al Boyer
NORWICH — Joseph Re-al Boyer, 51, of 51 Sheldon St., Norwich, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at his home.

He was born on Oct. 20, 1947, in Hemmingford, Quebec, Canada, the son of Fabio and Rita (Barriere) Boyer.

On May 22, 1971, in St. Paul's Church of Norwich, he married Pamela Porter, who survives.

Re-al moved to the United States when he was 2 years old. He graduated from South New Berlin Central High School in 1966, where he was a four-year varsity player on the football, basketball, and baseball teams and held the school record for career scoring in basketball for many years. He was currently teaching physical education in the Unadilla Valley Central School and coached the junior varsity girls' basketball team.

He was a member of St. Paul's Church of Norwich. He was a member of the New York State United Teachers and the Schohanna Baseball Umpire's Association. He was also a member of the Canasawacta Country Club. He was a longtime basketball player in several leagues and enjoyed golf, coaching and umpiring. He was an avid Syracuse University football and basketball fan. He formerly had coached in Morris High School, where he had several championship football teams. He loved to watch his children in their sports careers.

Besides his wife, Pamela of Norwich; he is survived by his children, James Robert Boyer, Bryan Re-al Boyer and Brenda Marie Boyer, all of Norwich; his parents, Fabio (Pat) and Rita Boyer of Norwich; his brothers and sister-in-law, Michael J. and Linda Boyer of Kingston, and Joseph Donald Boyer of Rochester; and his sister, Lorraine Boyer of Liverpool. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive him.

Funeral services for Re-al will be held on Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at 2 p.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul's Church, Norwich, with the Rev. Douglas Cunningham, pastor, celebrating the Mass assisted by Fr. Chuck Taylor, of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of New Berlin. Burial will be in the spring in St. Paul's Cemetery, Norwich.

Friends may call at the Devine-Wilson Memorial Home, 68 S. Broad St., Norwich on Saturday, from 5 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, the American Cancer Society or the Re-al Boyer Scholarship Fund at Unadilla Valley Central School, 1 School St., New Berlin, N.Y.

W. Richard Boise
SOUTH NEW BERLIN — W. Richard Boise, 90, of R.D. No.1, South New Berlin, a longtime resident and well-known farmer, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, in The Hospital, Sidney.

Richard was born in Sherburne, and attended the local schools. After finishing his schooling, he went to work for his father on the family farm in Sherburne. When he was able, he purchased a farm in South New Berlin, where he worked and resided until he sold the farm in 1957. He subsequently was employed by the South New Berlin School District, where he drove school bus and was also head custodian. He later delivered newspapers for The Evening Sun in Norwich, and was a custodian at the Norwich Pharmacal Company and at the Chenango County Office Building in Norwich.

Richard was an outdoorsman at heart. He loved animals, and was an avid farmer, never really, in his heart, quitting farming.

Richard was born May 2, 1908, in Sherburne, he was the son of William and Helen Boise. On Nov. 4, 1933, in Sherburne, he married Irene H. Boise, who passed away on Sept. 8, 1995.

Richard is survived by his four sons, Richard Boise and wife, Dorothy, of Lexington, Ky., Robert Boise and wife, Shirley, of South New Berlin, Warren Boise and wife, Deb, of Dahlonega, Ga., and Everett "Skip" Boise and wife, Betsy Zaharis, of Cortland. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Irene, Richard was predeceased by his four brothers, Henry Boise, John Boise, Walter Boise, and Homer Boise.

Funeral services for Richard will be held Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at 8 p.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen Reese, pastor of the Columbus Community Church, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Sherburne West Hill Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday, from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the South New Berlin Fire Department or the South New Berlin Rescue Squad.

Kenneth Neeves
RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Kenneth D. Neeves, 35, of Millstone Road, died on Wednesday night, Feb. 10, 1999, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in the town of Columbia.

He was born on Aug. 5, 1963, in Mahopac, a son of Arthur and Marcella Myer Neeves.

A graduate of Mahopac High School, he went on to State University of New York at Albany for his undergraduate schooling and graduated from the University of Buffalo with a law degree.

An honorably discharged United States Army veteran, he served our country during the Gulf War.

A resident of Richfield Springs since 1992, he had his own law practice as well as working in the Otsego County Public Defenders Office, Cooperstown.

He was a member and past president of the Richfield Springs Rotary Club and also active with the clubs Student Exchange Program, he was a member and past president of the Leatherstocking Caregivers of Richfield Springs.

Surviving besides his parents of Richfield Springs are four brothers and their wives, Brian and Carol Neeves of Souix Falls, S.D., Arthur and Catherine Neeves of Horseheads, Walter and Patricia Neeves of Lynchburg, Va., and Peter and Brenda Neeves of Jamesville; 10 nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 5 West James St., Richfield Springs.

Funeral services will be on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church, Richfield Springs, with the Rev. John Dixon Bartle, church rector, and the Rev. John A. Wilde, pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting, officiating. Mr. Neeves will then be placed in the J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home private receiving vault to await burial in Lakeview Cemetery later this spring.

Memorial donations may be made to the Richfield Springs Rotary Club Student Exchange Program. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Kenneth Eccleston
NEW BERLIN — Kenneth Bruce Eccleston, 91, of New Berlin and formerly of Morris, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.

He was born in Binghamton on Nov. 21, 1907, the son of George and Frances (Conklin) Eccleston.

He married Ruth Turner on April 29, 1927, in Atlantic City, N.J. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary together.

He had worked for the Raymond Corporation for 17 years, and prior to that had worked for Jim Menitt Trucking, The Linn Tractor Co., and at one time had worked for the town of Morris Highway Department.

They had lived in New Berlin since 1985, and had formerly resided on Hargrave Street in Morris.

He attended the United Methodist Church in Morris.

Ken is survived by his wife, Ruth of New Berlin; a son, Carl Eccleston and his wife, Bernice, of New Berlin; a brother, Harold Eccleston of Chenango Bridge; a sister, Blanche Barbour of Atlantic City, N.J.; grandchildren, Carlette and Larry Brownell of Amsterdam and Sharel Eccleston of Kenosha, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Tanya, Melinda and Alicia Brownell; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Vivian and Ester Eccleston; several stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Leon, Leslie, Paul and Phillip Eccleston.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Joseph Fiske officiating. Burial will be in Hillington Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Morris United Methodist Church or the New Berlin Emergency Squad in his memory.

Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.

Alma A. Martin
SIDNEY — Alma A. Martin, 97, of Sidney, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at the Skilled Nursing Facility, Sidney.

She was born to the late Tilden and Sarah Osterhout Young on March 9, 1901, in Cobleskill.

Alma married John M. Martin on May 5, 1927, in Sidney. He predeceased her on Oct. 20, 1967.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Sidney, since April 1928, a member of Sidney Senior Citizens and the Sidney Card Club.

Alma is survived by two nephews, Robert Young of Sidney and Milton Young of Sidney; and one niece, Marion Borst of Cobleskill.

She is predeceased by a sister, Mildred Borst, and a brother, Leslie Young.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. David Masland, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Burial will be in Rural Cobleskill Cemetery, Cobleskill, in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, Sidney.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers, Inc., Sidney.

Barbara Baier
DELHI — Barbara Baier, 91, formerly of Delhi, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at the New York State Veteran's Home in Oxford.

She was born Aug. 9, 1907, in Buffalo, the daughter of John and Barbara (Schmelzer) Schneeweiss.

She was married in New York City to the late Karl Baier Sr. on Oct. 7, 1933. He died Oct. 31, 1977.

A housewife, Mrs. Baier was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Delhi.

Survivors include one son, William Baier of Colorado Springs,  Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at St. Peter's Church, Delhi, with Fr. Joe Manerowski officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi, in the spring.

Calling hours are Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Moxley-McCall Funeral Home in Delhi.

Contributions in her memory may be made to either St. Peter's Church, Delhi or the New York State Veteran's Home in Oxford.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Lucile D. Houck
COOPERSTOWN — Lucile D. Houck, 89, formerly of Cooperstown and Oneonta, died Jan. 15, 1999, at the Life Care Center in Tucson, Ariz.

Lucile was born Dec. 20, 1909, in Cooperstown and graduated from Cooperstown High School in the Class of 1927.

Lucile was a teacher and principal of the Center Street School, Oneonta, for 42 years before retiring. She spent the last 15 years in San Jose,  Calif., with her niece, Rebecca Shave.

She is survived by her nieces, Susanne Overholt of Buffalo Grove, Ill., and Rebecca Shave currently of Tucson, Ariz.

Graveside services and burial will be in the spring at Hartwick Seminary Cemetery.

Those who wish may make a donation in Lucile's memory to a charity of their choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Russell J. Pullis
SPRINGFIELD — Russell J. Pullis, 72, of McShane Road, died on Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, in his home.

He was born on April 22, 1926, in Monroe, N.J., a son of the late Russell N. and Beatrice Monell Pullis.

Russell was raised in New Jersey and was a graduate of Sussex High School.

On Sept. 18, 1948, he married Grace Elizabeth `Betty' Campbell in Branchville, N.J.

His life work was dairy farming, first in Branchville where he owned and operated the Roedale Farm. In 1972 he sold the farm and moved to the town of Springfield where he started the Roedale Farm currently existing today. His son Allan became a partner in the farm in 1981.

Surviving are his wife Betty; two sons and their wives, Allan and Patricia Pullis of Springfield and Russell L. and Lynda Pullis of Boonton, N.J.; a daughter, LuAnn, and her husband, Robert Bartsch, of Beemerville, N.J.; three brothers, Andrew Pullis of Wantage Township, N.J., Robert Pullis of Vernon, N.J., and Gerald Pullis of Hudson, N.C.; three sisters, Alberta Caton of Wantage Township, N.J., Gladys Caton of Kingsley, Pa., and Wahneta Dunn of Greeley, Pa.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 5 West James St., Richfield Springs. Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice or the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Barbara Baier
DELHI — Barbara Baier, 91, formerly of Delhi, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at the New York State Veteran's Home in Oxford.
