EVELYN JEAN PAULSON

Evelyn Jean Paulson, 73, of Lake Placid, NY, died Friday, July 25, 2003 at the Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Born May 10, 1930 in Denver, Colorado, to Sidney and Glenola Magee, she is survived by her husband William E., one daughter: Sharrel Y. (Edward) Schrader of Lake Placid, three sons: Sidney D. of Osterville, MA, Donald L. (Peggy) of Morristown, AZ and David W. (Nannette) of Osterville, MA, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister: Carol (Robert) Chelpka, Sr. of Sun City, AZ, two nieces, one nephews and a number of aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 29, 2003, one hour prior to an 11:30am service at the Lake Placid Baptist Church, 46 Saranac Avenue, with the Reverend Derek Spain officiating. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA, on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Teen Challenge (www.teenchallenge.com) or the Lake Placid Baptist Church would be appreciated. M.B. Clark Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

DAVID G. SNYDER

David G. Snyder, 48, of 349 Park Street, Tupper Lake, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 29, while at work in Saratoga, New York.

He was born in Tupper Lake on October 20, 1954, the son of Bernard "Gino" and Yvonne (Planty) Snyder.

He had been married to the former Etta Smith of Parishville.

He is survived by his parents of Tupper Lake; a son: Donald Snyder of Potsdam; two sisters: Susan Mikall and her companion Jim Colby of Harwichport, MA and Annemarie Jay of Tupper Lake; three brothers and their wives: Tom and Tracye Snyder, Joel and Mary Ellen Snyder, and J.P. and Judy Snyder, all of Tupper Lake; 5 nephews, 9 nieces, 2 great-nieces, cousins and uncles.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11am on Saturday, August 2, at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial with full military honors will follow.

Memorial donations may be considered to the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks.

BERNARD C. DUNHAM

Bernard C. Dunham, 80, of Tupper Lake, died Tuesday, July 29, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Tupper Lake on September 27, 1922, he was the son of Sanford E. and Florence Kingsley Dunham of Tupper Lake.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor Dunham of Tupper Lake; two sons: Karl Dunham of Tupper Lake and Steven Dunham of San Diego, California, and two grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, July 31, at the Richer Funeral Home with Deacon Jim Ellis officiating. A prayer service will be held at 6:15pm.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Friday, August 1, at 11:30am at the St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Friends wishing to remember Mr. Dunham may make memorial contributions to the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad or High Peaks Hospice.

ROSELYN MINER

Roselyn Miner, 61, of Tupper Lake, died Friday, August 1, 2003 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on September 4, 1941 in Medina, NY, she was the daughter of Luther and Alberta (Debarr) Hall.

Justice of Peace, the late Limey Lawrence, united Roselyn and James E. Miner in marriage on October 16, 1980. She is survived by her husband James Miner; a daughter Margaret Sullinger of Medina, NY; two stepdaughters Sharron Miner of Tupper Lake, NY and Billi Jo Symonds of Gabriels, NY; two sons Dennis Sullinger of Warrensburg, NY and Reese Fleury of Tupper Lake, NY, on stepson James D. Miner of Lake Placid, NY, 21 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service Tuesday, August 5, at 10am in Holy Name Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider High Peaks Hospice or the ALS Foundation in Albany.

ELEANOR M. BUSHY

Eleanor M. Bushy, 78, formally of Fawn Ridge Drive, Lake Placid, passed away Friday, August 1, 2003 at the Adirondack Medical Center at Saranac Lake. Eleanor was born in Lake Placid August 23, 1924, the daughter of Harold and Hazel Goff Bushy.

She is survived by two sisters: Constance B. Michaud of Lake Placid and W. Jeanne Smith of Hamden, MA. She is also survived by one aunt: Genevieve Bushy of Lake Placid and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 2, 2003 at 12 noon at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid with Reverend Mark Demers, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the North Elba Cemetery. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.

GLENFORD C. SNYDER

Glenford Conrad Snyder, 81, of Moody Road, Tupper Lake, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

He was born February 17, 1922 in St. Regis Falls and came to Tupper Lake at the age of 2.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia, of 50 years; his daughter Carol Richer and her husband James of Tupper Lake; his grandchildren: Gretchen and her husband Tim Dartt of Ferrisburgh, VT, Chris Richer and his wife, Ryan of Bozeman, MT, Matthew Ramirez-Richer and his wife Elena of Shelburne, VT and four great-grandchildren: Noah and Zebabiah Dartt and Emma and Ellie Richer and four nephews and their wives: Bob and Pat Bedore of Tupper Lake, Veit and Kathy Snyder of Hilton, NY, Roy and Lea Snyder of Sochia, NY, James and Sharon Snyder of Hopewell, NY and many great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister: Eleanor Bedore and three brothers: Roy, Doyle (Mike) and Al Snyder.

Memorial donations may be made to the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad.

JOSEPH D. DUFRANE

Joseph Daniel Dufrane, 80, died on Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Glens Falls Hospital.

He was a resident of Westmount Health Facility in Queensbury, NY.

Born June 18, 1923 in Constable, NY and attended local schools. He was the son of George C. and Mabel (Belair) Dufrane.

Survivors include his wife, Veronica (Canton) Dufrane whom he married December 23, 1978 at St. Theresa's Church in Newcomb; one daughter: Brenda Stringer of Newcomb; four stepchildren: Ellen Javes and Jeffrey Canton of Long Lake, Daniel Canton of Mayfield, NY and Veronica West of Glens Falls. He is also survived by three brothers: George and Peanut of Constable, NY and Robert of Bombay, NY; four sisters: Beulah Helms of Newcomb, Kathleen Evans of Rome, NY, Reba McFaul of Constable, NY and Dorothy Bushey of Bangor, NY; 11 grandchildren: Tonya, Lowell, Joe, Jim, Christine, Ron, Janette, Michael, Logan, Jennifer and Veronica, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, his brothers, Alfred and Pete.

Calling hours at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake will be held Friday, September 19, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa's Church in Newcomb on Saturday, September 20, at 11am.

Burial with full military honors will follow in Newcomb Cemetery.

Donations in Mr. Dufrane's memory may be made to the Newcomb Fire Department, Newcomb, NY 12852.

KATHERINE WEIDENHEIMER
Katherine Weidenheimer, age 78, of Cold Brook Road, Bloomingdale, died Friday, September 19, 2003 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Bronx, New York on March 19, 1925, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Lamadore.

Mrs. Weidenheimer married Joseph on June 13, 1942. He predeceased her on February 6, 1989.

She is survived by two sons: Christopher J. Weidenheimer and Philip G. Weidenheimer both of Bloomingdale, NY; two granddaughters: Danielle Weidenheimer and Ann Marie Caso and two grandsons: Geoffrey Brandon Nicholas Weidenheimer and Philip Shaun Weidenheimer, Jr.; two great-grandchildren: Kyle Caso and Philip Weidenheimer II; a brother: Donald Lamadore of New Jersey; a sister: Lilly Bohen of Florida and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her son Geoffrey Weidenheimer, her daughter Joanne Weidenheimer, two sisters: Sabrina Lamadore and Dorothy Lamadore and a brother: Edward Lamadore.

Visitation will be held at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Bible Vigil will be held Tuesday at 3:45pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at 11am at St. Paul's Church, Bloomingdale, with Reverend Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale.

Friends wishing to remember Mrs. Weidenheimer may make memorial contributions to the National Wildlife Federation or the Disabled American Veterans in care of the funeral home.

JOHN F. ST. LOUIS

John F. St. Louis, 70, of Cascade Road, Lake Placid, NY, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. He was born in Lake Placid on June 15, 1993, the son of Howard and Alice (Farrell) St. Louis. John's wife Leah (Lyon) St. Louis passed away March 17, 1997.

Mr. St. Louis is survived by two sons: Michael St. Louis and his wife Sharon and Martin St. Louis and his wife Shari, both of Lake Placid; two daughters: Laura Peryea and her husband Larry of Ray Brook and Karen Preston and her husband Terry of Lake Placid. John is also survived by one brother: James St. Louis of Lake Placid and nine grandchildren: Ryan, Andrew and Matthew St. Louis, Tyler, Kaylee and Jessica Preston, Patrick and Jennifer Peryea and Michael Kelly. He is also survived by one niece: Barbara Whitney.

Friends are invited to call Thursday, September 25, from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Clark Funeral Home. An American Legion Prayer Service will be held at 8pm at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 26, at 11am at the Funeral Home. Reverend Mark Demers, Pastor of the Adirondack Community Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Agnes Cemetery in Lake Placid. The family suggests friends wishing to remember John consider donations in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.

JAMES GRAGG

James Gragg, age 71, formerly of 17 Ampersand Bay Road, Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Watertown, New York on July 31, 1932, he was the son of Harry and Lola Gragg.

James is survived by his wife Barbara of Saranac Lake; two brothers: William Gragg of Syracuse, NY and John Gragg of Santa Barbara, CA; a sister: Patricia Berk of Poughkeepsie and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours or funeral services.

Friends wishing to remember James Gragg may make memorial contributions to the American Legion in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Saranac Lake.

JAMES ROWE

The search for a missing Essex County man has ended, after family members of 42 year-old James Rowe of Crown Point found his body in a river in Vermont.

Rowe had been camping near Vergennes, Vermont and was last seen on Sunday walking along a nearby river.

Family members traveled to the area on Wednesday and borrowed boats to assist Vermont State Police in their efforts to locate Rowe.

His niece, Jody Olcott of Moriah, told the Plattsburgh Press-Republican that they found footprints along the shoreline, probed the nearby water, and located Rowe’s body about 10 to 15 feet off shore.

The Vermont State Police Dive Team had searched Tuesday and Wednesday for Rowe but turned up nothing. The body was eventually found about 50 feet from where they ended their last dive.

Foul play is not suspected but an autopsy will be performed at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington to determine Rowe’s cause of death.

Rowe had worked at the International Paper Mill in Ticonderoga for 19 years. He leaves behind a wife, a daughter and a step-daughter.

ROXANNE M. DOUGLASS

Roxanne M. Douglass, age 52, of 61 Haymeadow Road, Tupper Lake, NY died Monday, September 22, 2003 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, New York.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on June 22, 1951, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Grace (VanCour) Douglass.

She is survived by her mother Grace Douglass of Fletcher, NC; one sister and brother-in-law: Suzanne and Gregory Peck of Lake Clear, NY; one niece: Jill and her husband Donald  Jones of Greenville, NY; several aunts and uncles, including Edmond and Erma VanCour of Saranac Lake, NY, Stanley and Millie VanCour of Lake Placid, NY and Ronald and Jackie VanCour of Jay, NY. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Douglass on October 29, 1979.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc. in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services and burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Lake Clear, New York.

EDITH M. WILSON

Edith M. Wilson, 85, of Tupper Lake, died Sunday, September 28, 2003 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Born on August 2, 1918 in Herman, NY, she was the daughter of Leon and Florence O'Niel.

She is survived by her son Harold and his wife Marilyn of Moriches, NY; one grandson: Robert and one granddaughter: April; one sister: Mrs. Lois Tice of Tupper Lake.

She was predeceased by her husband Harold in 1994; two brothers: Robert and Frank; three sisters: Marion, Ellen and Ida.

There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Herman.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Tupper Lake Volunteer Rescue Squad. Funeral arrangements are with the Fortune-Keough-Rennell Funeral Home.

SALLY M. JONES

Sally M. Jones, age 86, formerly of Morris Plains, New Jersey, and a resident of the Keen Valley Neighborhood House for five years, died Sunday, November 2, 2003, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Mrs.  Jones was predeceased by her husband William H.  Jones on October 28, 1998. She is survived by two daughters: Meridith Gaskins of Douglassville, PA, and Margaret  Jones of Old Orchard Beach, ME; a son: Peter  Jones of Rainbow Lake; a sister: Jean  Jones of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and five grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours or public services. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Friends wishing to remember Mrs.  Jones may make memorial contributions to the Morris Plains Public Library for the children's room, Glenbrook Road, Morris Plains, NJ 07950.

DEIRDRE S. BADORE

Deirdre S. Badore, age 46, of 60 Church Street, Saranac Lake, died Friday, November 7, 2003 at Albany VA Hospital.

Born in Syracuse, New York on August 5, 1957, she was the daughter of Frederick and Dorothy (Wojiack) Charland.

She is survived by her husband Barry of Saranac Lake, NY; her mother: Dorothy Charland of Saranac Lake; two daughters: Jean McNamara and her husband Ivan of Saranac Lake, and Sarah Badore of Saranac Lake; a granddaughter: Zoe McNamara of Saranac Lake; four sisters: Bonnie Stockton of Ilion, NY, Christine LaMere of Tupper Lake, NY, Michelle Williams of Paul Smiths, NY and Heather Sinos of Palm Harbor, FL; two brothers: Michael Charland of Saranac Lake and Baron Charland of Clayburg, NY, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father: Frederick Charland.

Visitation will be held at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Bible Vigil will be held at 8:45pm Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at 11:15am at St. Bernard's Church with Father Kevin McEwan officiating. Cremation will follow with interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Tupper Lake.
