Margaret Bannwarth
COOPERSTOWN — Mrs. Margaret Bannwarth, 79, of Murphy Hill in the town of Middlefield, died early Tuesday morning, April 6, 1999, at her home.

She was born on Feb. 24, 1920, in Maspeth, Queens, the daughter of Harry and Helen (Rabba) Belcher.

She married William C. Bannwarth on Jan. 11, 1942, in Brooklyn.

Marge was raised in Maspeth, Queens, and graduated from the Grover Cleveland High School. She then graduated from secretarial school and was employed as a secretary at various places. Following her marriage, she devoted the rest of her life to raising her family and keeping her home. In 1985, she and her husband moved to Murphy Hill, where they have since resided.

She was a member of the Clark F. Simmons American Legion Post No. 579 Women's Auxiliary in Cooperstown, the Middlefield Community Club, the Roseboom Seniors and she especially enjoyed volunteering at the SPCA.

Marge's family wishes to thank Ellen, Kathy, Paula and Connie, from Catskill Area Hospice, for their kind, considerate and understanding care.

Marge is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Raymond Fornillo of Binghamton, Diane and Robert Gamble of Cooperstown, and Susan and Wayne Zichettella of Mastic, Long Island; six grandchildren, Phil Gamble and his wife, Catherine of Cooperstown, Lori Gamble and her fiance, Michael Fink of Cooperstown, Damien Fornillo and his wife, Lisa and Andrea Banas and her husband, Patrick, all of Binghamton, and Paul Zichettella and Jennifer Zichettella, both of Mastic, Long Island; and four great-grandchildren, Ashley Gamble, and Amber, Alex and Rhianne Fornillo.

A funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. this evening, Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown, with the Rev. Ronald Fralick, pastor of the Middlefield Parish Churches, officiating. A committal service and burial will take place at a later date in the Westville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home this afternoon, Wednesday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until service time, when Marge's family will be in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial donations may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., 542 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.

Claude Holcomb
ONEONTA — Claude Holcomb, 88, of Oneonta, died Sunday morning, April 4, 1999, at The Meadows.

Claude was born Sept. 20, 1910, in Blenheim, the son of Homer and Ella May (Loucks) Holcomb.

Claude moved to the Oneonta area in 1917 and went to work for the New York State Department of Transportation. From 1935 to 1942, Claude lived in Gloversville. When Claude returned to the Oneonta area, he worked for the Otsego Laundry for 25 years and then became a route driver for Hoffmans Dry Cleaners.

Claude was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Oneonta.

Claude is survived by a special friend, Delphia Merwin of Colliersville; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Donald and Gerry Holcomb of Oneonta and Walter and Mary Holcomb of Blue Springs, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Doris Holcomb of Sidney; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Byron and Norman Holcomb.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 9, 1999, at the Davenport Cemetery, Davenport, with the Rev. C. Spencer Van Gullick, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church, Oneonta, officiating.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta and Otego.

Roland M. Ouimet
ONEONTA — Roland M. Ouimet, 63, of Oneonta, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at his residence unexpectedly.

He was born May 8, 1935, in Otego, the son of Homer and Florida (Riel) Ouimet.

Mr. Ouimet was a lifelong area resident, having been employed by the Delaware and Hudson Railroad for 27 years, prior to his retirement in 1995.

He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Oneonta, and a former member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Maintenance and Way.

Roland is survived by his former wife, Nancy B. Ouimet of Bainbridge; three sons, Ronald M. Ouimet of Sidney, Nathan A. and his wife, Vikki Ouimet of Guilford, and Daniel Ouimet of Oneonta; one stepdaughter, Nancy Slice of Knoxville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; three brothers, Gene Ouimet of Otego, Donald Ouimet of Unadilla and Alfred Ouimet of Oneonta; several nieces, nephews and cousins; a daughter-in-law, Julie Ouimet of Unadilla; and a special friend, Shirley Banner of Hartwick.

He was predeceased by a brother, Francis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Oneonta. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

Friends may call at the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday evening.

Nancy Townsend Reynolds
BAINBRIDGE — Nancy Townsend Reynolds, 52, of Bainbridge, went to her eternal rest Tuesday morning, April 6, 1999, at her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born Dec. 28, 1946, in Oneonta, the daughter of the late Albert and Ernestine (Hyde) Townsend.

Nancy married Tracy Reynolds on Oct. 7, 1967, in Oneonta.

She was a graduate of Oneonta High School in 1965 and Broome Community College in 1967.

Nancy was employed as an assembly worker for Amphenol Aerospace in Sidney, since 1981, and was a member of Local IAM Union.

Nancy especially enjoyed the outdoors and animals. She spent several summers tending to her flower gardens and raising ducks. Nancy especially enjoyed bird watching.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Tracy Reynolds of Bainbridge; three daughters, Rachael Reynolds of Bainbridge, Amy Reynolds of Kenmore and Sheri Reynolds of Buffalo; brother and sister-in-law, Craig and Patricia Townsend of Oneonta; mother-in-law, Joyce Reynolds of Sidney; sister-in-law and her husband, Janine and Cork O'Hara of Bainbridge; stepmother, Elizabeth Townsend of Oneonta; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Nancy will be missed by her dog, Maggie.

A service to celebrate the life of Nancy will be held Thursday, April 8, 1999, at C.H. Landers Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Roanne MacEwan, pastor, First Congregational Church, Sidney, officiating.

At Nancy's request there will be no calling hours. The burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Nancy's name to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, N.Y. 13815.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers, Inc., 21 Main St., Sidney.

Marion F. Barton
ALBANY — Marion F. Barton, 80, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at home.

Mrs. Barton was an Oneonta native.

Mrs. Barton was a devoted wife and mother who brought warmth and zest to all aspects of her life. A talented dress designer and seamstress, she had her own business for many years.

She was dedicated to God, her church, and especially to her many friends.

Marion was the widow of Irvin Nelson Barton.

Marion is survived by her son, Stephen Barton of Albany; two daughters, Mary Barton of Mamaroneck and Cynthia Baker and her husband, Norman, of Haverhill, Mass. She is the sister of Madolyn Danzi and Bud Monser, both of Oneonta; Marie Denise of Norwich and Katherine Kaufman of Delhi; and the late Thomas Monser and Pauline Cologne. Marion is the grandmother of Barton, Emily and Benjamin Baker, and Winona Barton-Ballentine. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church, 404 Partridge St., Albany, N.Y. 12208 or the Seed of Abraham Messianic Congregation, 256 New Karner Road, Albany, N.Y. 12205.

A memorial service will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Applebee Funeral Home, Delmar.

Genevieve Moore
SIDNEY — Genevieve Moore, 85, of Sidney, passed away Monday, April 5, 1999, at The Hospital, Sidney.

She was born Oct. 1, 1913, to the late Glenn and Bertha (Dillenbeck) Fical in Sidney.

Genevieve married Joseph M. Moore Jr. on Sept. 5, 1936.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Sidney.

Genevieve is survived by her husband, Joseph M. Moore Jr. of Sidney; daughter and son-in-law, Terry and David Palmetier of Sidney; son and daughter-in-law, David and Marilyn Moore of Brookfield, Wis.; three grandchildren, Tami Gough, Tracy Glover and Christopher Glover; one great-grandchild, Christian Glover; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, 1999, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Roanne MacEwan, pastor of First Congregational Church, Sidney, officiating.

Friends may call Thursday, April 8, 1999, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sidney Emergency Squad or Delaware Valley Humane Society, Sidney.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers, Inc., 21 Main St., Sidney.

Myrtle M. Pagett
BAINBRIDGE — Myrtle M. Pagett, 93, of Bainbridge, passed away Friday, April 2, 1999, at her home.

She was born Dec. 14, 1905, in Lenox, Iowa. She was the daughter of Merit and Cora (Lovitt) Pagett.

Myrtle graduated from Fort Morgan High School, Fort Morgan Co. and the Charles Wilson School of Nursing,  Johnson City. She was a 1st Lt. in the United States Army Nurse Corps and served two years during World War II.

She was a school nurse and teacher for 41 years. She retired from the Bainbridge-Guilford School district.

Myrtle is survived by a brother, Irwin Pagett of Casper, Wyo.; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, April 17, 1999, at 2 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bainbridge-Guilford Central School Alumni Incentive Awards, Bainbridge.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers, Inc., 21 Main St., Sidney.

Violet Aitken
ANDES — Violet Aitken, 89, of Andes died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at her home after a long illness.

Vi was born Feb. 28, 1910, in Rochester, the daughter of Irving and Laura (Woellert) Burrell.

She attended and graduated from Plattsburg College.

Moving to Andes in 1931, she taught commercial courses at Andes School for 10 years. Vi then became office manager for the Andes Co-op Creamery, until it closed.

She was married to Charles H. Aitken. He predeceased her in 1972.

Vi was a longtime member of the Andes United Methodist Church and was superintendent of the Sunday School for 25 years. She was also active in the Methodist Women's Circle. Other memberships include the Andes Historical Society and Andes Senior Citizens.

Vi is survived by her sister, Gladys Madden of Palm Harbor, Fla.; her niece, Kathleen Lauridsen of Blue Island, Ill.; a great-niece, Tracy Warner of Tonawanda; two great-nephews, Jeffrey Wagner of Tonawanda and Charles Wagner of Boynton Beach, Fla.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 10, 1999, at 10 a.m. at the Andes United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael Love, pastor, officiating. Burial following in Andes Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Jester-Stanley Funeral Home in Andes on Friday. The family will be in attendance from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorials to the Andes United Methodist Church in her name appreciated.

Helen M. Bartlett
ORLANDO, Fla. — Helen M. Bartlett, 88, formerly of 83 Cortland St., Norwich, passed away Monday evening, April 5, 1999, in the Mariner Health Care Facility in Orlando, Fla.

She was born Jan. 28, 1911, in Norwich, the daughter of Herbert A. and Grace (Dorsey) Salisbury.

On June 9, 1934, in Norwich, she married John Bartlett, who passed away Oct. 23, 1994.

A lifelong resident of Norwich, Helen had attended the local schools, graduating from the Norwich High School, Class of 1929.

Her first employment was with Victory Markets, followed by a job as receptionist for Dr. Kinney. She worked for a time for Sheriff Joseph Benenati, and for John Richard Marshall, when he was City of Norwich Judge. Helen worked for a number of years for the City of Norwich, first as secretary to the Civil Service Commision, then as the first secretary to the newly formed Urban Renewal Agency, whose project on North Broad Street resulted in the building of the Howard Johnson's Hotel and Restaurant. Her last position was that of senior account clerk in the Chenango County Department of Social Services.

Following her retirement, Helen stayed active. She and her husband, John, enjoyed traveling and, in addition to trips to visit their family, they took a cruise. Back in Norwich, Helen, a lady who enjoyed being with people, became a representative for Queensway clothing, which she sold through parties in people's homes. She was the top sales representative for several years.

A devoted member of St. Bartholomew's Church, Helen was a member of St. Bart's Ave Maria Guild and the Bible study program. She was also a former member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Norwich Elks Lodge No. 1222.

Helen is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary Lou Angelino of Orlando, Fla., John (Larry) Bartlett and Nancy of Essex Junction, Vt., and Gerald (Jerry) Bartlett and Lorry of Madiera Beach, Fla.; and by nine grandchildren, Shawn Bartlett, Lisa Goodwin, and Cathy Hickory, all of Vermont, Patrick Bartlett of Florida, Brenda Hodgins of Tampa, Fla., Michelle Bartlett and Diana Bartlett of Long Island, and Joseph Angelino and Paul Angelino, both of Orlando, Fla.; 14 great-grandchildren; and several cousins.

Funeral services for Helen will begin with a prayer service at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 1999, from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45 a.m. from St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, celebrated by the Rev. John Cramer, pastor of St. Bartholomew's. Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery of Norwich.

Friends of Helen may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. At 8 p.m., Sr. Julie Eigo will lead family and friends in the recitation of the rosary.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bartholomew's Memorial Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
