Katharine Ketcham
LAWRENCE, Kan. — Memorial Services for Katharine Ketcham, 83, of Lawrence, Kan., will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lawrence.

Miss Ketcham died April 9, 1999 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. In 1991, she moved to Brandon  Woods Retirement Community in Lawrence from Cooperstown.

She was born April 25, 1915 in East Orange, N.J., the daughter of S. Carl and Eleanor Huntington Ketcham. She grew up in Pleasantville.

She was a graduate of Mount Holyoke College in 1936 and received her Master of Nursing in 1939 from Yale School of Nursing. She received her M.A. in Nursing Education from New York University in 1951. She served during World War II as a Captain Army Nurse in New Zealand. She taught at the Yale School of Nursing and at Hartwick College School of Nursing. She retired in 1975.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lawrence, and was a member of the Bell Choir, Sunday School and adult choir. She was a member of Lawrence Civic Choir and was a volunteer at Small World.

She is survived by one sister, Jean Lominska of Lawrence and three nephews and two nieces.

Inurnment will be in Hardy Oaks Cemetery, rural  Jefferson County, at a later date.

The family will greet friends at the church following the memorial service. They suggest memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church or to the charity of the donor's choice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Frances Louise Mickle
CANAJOHARIE — Mrs. Frances Louise Mickle, 91, of Canajoharie and formerly of Oneonta, died Friday morning, April 9, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a brief illness.

She was born Sept. 4, 1907 in Hartwick, the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Scollard) Palmer.

She married Hilton T. Mickle on June 31, 1931 in Oneonta. Mr. Mickle died Sept. 6, 1974.

Frances was a credit manager at Bresee's Department Store, Oneonta.

She was a member of the Elm Park United Methodist Church, Oneonta, a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 116 Martha Chapter of Oneonta, a member of the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club, a member of the Oneonta Lodge BPOE No. 1312 and a member of the Van Alstyne Homestead Society, Canajoharie.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Jo-Ann Mickle of Canajoharie; four grandsons and their spouses, Christopher and Laura Mickle, Lt. Col. Douglas and Minaksi Mickle and Jeffrey and Timothy Mickle and two great-grandchildren, Sam and Alexandra.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at 11 a.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta with the Rev. Joseph A. Fiske, retired Methodist minister, officiating.

Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.

At the request of Frances, there will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy will be made to the Van Alstyne Homestead Society, Canajoharie, N.Y. 13317 or the Elm Park United Methodist Church Ladies Auxiliary, 401 Chestnut St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820 in loving memory of Frances L. Mickle.

Funeral arrangements are by Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

Judith Ann Mott
OXFORD — Judith Ann (Judy) Mott, 57, of 16 N.  Washington Ave., Oxford, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on April 8, 1999 at her home.

She was born on Nov. 4, 1941 in Sidney, the daughter of the late Charles G. and Marie O. (Hays) McCarty.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne L. Mott of Oxford; her son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Lewis and Barbara J. Mott of Worcester; her daughters and sons-in-law, Christine Gail and Harry D. Steger of Westchester, Ohio and Kimgberly Ann and Robert F. Murrer III of Owego; her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis C. and Debra McCarty of Green Valley, Ariz.; and her grandchildren, Nathaniel James Mott, Alexander Charles Steger, Andrew McCarty Mott, Thomas Fraiser Steger, Logan Thomas Mott and Jacqueline Marie Murrer; several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Samantha Marie Steger.

Judy was a graduate of Sidney High School, class of 1959 and Alfred Tech, class of 1961. She had served in the steno pool at New York State Police, Troop C Headquarters in Sidney and as personal secretary to Edward Croswell, BCI investigator at Troop C.

She was an original employee of the new Norwich Wal-Mart, a job she dearly loved. She will be remembered for her continual positive attitude. She was a member of the United Church of Oxford. She will also be remembered for her catering and the pies and cakes she made for several local restaurants and her handicraft works.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 11, 1999 at 2 p.m. from the United Church of Oxford, Main Street, Oxford with the Rev. Allen Lang, pastor of the church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Fellowship Hall of the church following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 28 Hayes St., Norwich, N.Y. 13815.

Arrangements are being handled by the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford.

Edward R. Raymond
UNADILLA — Edward R. Raymond, 76, of 5 Ontio Terrace, Unadilla, died Friday, April 9, 1999 at the New York State Veterans' Home, Oxford.

He was born April 18, 1922 in Cham, Germany, the son of Johann and Katharina (Holzer) Raab.

He was first married to Nellie Thomas, who died in 1972, and then was married to Nathalia W. Stonw on June 14, 1974 in Sidney.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a former resident of Bainbridge, a former employee of American Plastics of Bainbridge and for many years, owned and operated Raymond TV Sales and Service in Bainbridge. He has been a Unadilla resident since 1974.

He was a member of the Eagles Club of Crystal Cathedral Ministeries of California.

Mr. Raymond is survived by his wife, Nathalia Raymond of Unadilla; a son, Walter Raymond of Bainbridge; two daughters, Katherine Furgeson of Lakeland, Fla. and Delilah Narvaez of Viera, FLa.; two stepsons, Ronald Stone of Windsor and Gerald Stone of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and a step-daughter, Janette Dranchak of Bainbridge; also 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Frank, John, George and Fred Raab and two sisters, Katherine Brunner and Mary Hohreiter.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at the Westcott Funeral Home, 112 Main St., Unadilla with the Rev. Paul D. Furniss, pastor of the Unadilla Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be later in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Unadilla Emergency Squad.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

William H. Decker
STUART, Fla. — William H. Decker, 77, a longtime Oneonta businessman, died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at his residence in Stuart, Fla.
Decker

He was born April 24, 1921, in Oneonta, the son of Howard R. and Lillian (Safford) Decker.

He married Margaret M. Wilcox on June 28, 1947, in St. Mary's Church, Oneonta.

A lifelong area resident, Bill attended local schools and graduated from Hartwick College with a degree in History.

He was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the United States Coast Guard.

He owned and operated Decker's Bakery on Main Street for 37 years until his retirement in 1984.

Bill was a member of St. Mary's Church, Oneonta BPOE 1312, Oneonta American Legion Post 259, and a former member of the Oneonta Country Club.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be sorely missed.

Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret M. Decker of Oneonta and Stuart, Fla.; his children, Thomas and Lynda Decker of Fitzwilliam, N.H., Carol and Donald Pemberton of Burnt Hills, Kathleen and Dr. Craig Byrum of Manlius, Janet and Timothy Darling of Gilbert, S.C., Marianne and Kevin Carter of Lake Oswego, Ore., William and Maureen Decker of Athol, Mass., and Robert and Deborah Decker of Mission Viejo,  Calif.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four nephews and several cousins.

He was predeceased by a sister, Beverly Close.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Anthony Chiaramonte officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

Friends may call Tuesday at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home at their convenience. The family will be in attendance from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice or the American Lung Association.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Mary E. Natale Bobnick
ROTTERDAM — Mary E. Natale Bobnick, 86, of Palma Avenue, Rotterdam, died Sunday, April 11, 1999,
She was born in Kodasha. She lived in Rotterdam for over 33 years. She died in St. Clare's Hospital, Schenectady.

She worked for five years at New York Telephone, and General Electric, Schenectady, for five years.

She attended Albany Business School.

She was the beloved wife of 45 years of Victor P. Bobnick Sr. of Rotterdam, mother of Victor P. Bobnick of Singerlands, sister of Comelia Lozier of Delmar, Nicholas Natale of Orange City, Fla., Dominic Natale of Los Angeles,  Calif. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Worcester for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Calling hours at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, Tuesday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made in Mary's memory to St. Clare's Hospital Foundation, 600 McClellan St., Schenectady, N.Y. 12304-9980 and St. Joseph's Church in Worcester.

Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Worcester at a later date.

William H. Conyers
RICHMONDVILLE — Mr. William H. Conyers, 89, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at the Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County in Cobleskill.

Mr. Conyers was born Aug. 29, 1909, in Pembroke, Bermuda, the son of Ralph S. and Emma I. (Henry) Conyers.

Mr. Conyers retired in 1971, from William Haughton Stables in Orlando, Fla., where he trained horses. He was a resident of Richmondville from 1948 to 1957, when he moved to Florida. In 1974, Mr. Conyers moved to Worcester, then back to Richmondville in 1977. For the past five years he has been a resident of the Eden Park Nursing Home in Cobleskill.

Mr. Conyers is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Carl Warner of Richmondville; a grandson, Carl R. Warner Jr. of Richmondville; two nieces, Linsley Perreault and Wendy Rowntree, both of Bermuda; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 68 Elm St., Cobleskill. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul Messner of Zion St. John Church of Seward and Sharon Springs. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Richmondville Rural Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Richmondville Volunteer Rescue Squad, Richmondville, N.Y. 12149.

Ralph E. Fowler
PRATTSVILLE — Ralph E. Fowler, 82, of Route 23, Prattsville, died peacefully with his wife and stepdaughter by his side on Saturday, April 10, 1999, at the Margaretville Memorial Hospital at Margaretville.

He was born June 2, 1916, at Gilboa, the son of Clarence and Evelyn (Chase) Fowler.

He first married Ernestine Becker in 1937. She predeceased him. On Oct. 23, 1982, Ralph married Dolores (Start) Scofield in Prattsville.

He was a lifelong area resident and worked in maintenance at Greendell Packing Co. in Prattsville for 35 years. Ralph retired in 1982.

He was a member of the Stamford Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Dolores Fowler of Prattsville; a daughter, Elaine Haight of Gilboa; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kathy Fowler of Gilboa; grandchildren, Lila and husband, Chris Kratochvil of Grand Gorge, Christie Fowler of Cobleskill and Daulcie Fowler of  Jefferson; great-grandchildren, Tracy and Rochelle Parker. Also surviving are stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Railroad Avenue, Stamford, with Minister Rick Clark officiating. Friends may visit with the family at 7 p.m. until service time.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy be made in Ralph's memory to either the Stamford Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Kingdom Hall, 431/2 Railroad Ave., Stamford, N.Y. 12167 or the Prattsville Rescue Squad, Main Street, Prattsville, N.Y. 12468.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford-Grand Gorge.

Lillian Lipman
MARGARETVILLE — Lillian Lipman, 83, of Margaretville, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at the Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville.

She was born June 15, 1915, in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

She married Albert Lipman. He died in 1992.

She was a professional writer. She also worked for an attorney's office.

She lived in the state of Washingon before moving to Margaretville.

Lillian is survived by two nephews, Frank Mann of Margaretville and Nathan Mann; and one niece, Rosalie Kupferschmid.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, April 12, 1999, at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, with Mr. Paul Steinfeld officiating.

Committal services will be at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
