Frederick Normann
NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Frederick R. (Fred) Normann, 86, of North Fort Myers, Fla., died suddenly on Monday, March 29, 1999.

He was born Nov. 19, 1912, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Gerd and Catherine Normann.

He married Ella Reichhardt in 1939. She died in 1992. He married Sylvia "Millie" Sheily in 1994.

Fred worked in the sugar refinery in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to North Franklin, N.Y., in 1948, where he operated a poultry farm. After selling the farm, he owned and operated the Big Top ice cream stand in Unadilla, N.Y. He retired and moved to Florida in 1972, where he was active in the Visually Impaired Persons organization. He was a 32nd degree mason, a master in the Franklin Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Araba Temple of Fort Myers, Fla.

Fred is survived by his wife, Sylvia "Millie" Normann of Fort Myers, Fla.; his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Margarete Normann of Otego, N.Y.; his brother and sister-in-law, Gerd and Catherine Normann of Bricktown, N.J.; his stepdaughter, Dolores Brown of Illinois; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Roberta Altomonte of New Port Richey, Fla.

A memorial funeral service was held on April 5, 1999, at the Messiah Lutheran Church, North Fort Myers, Fla., with Pastor Paul B. Milholland officiating. Cremation arrangements were by North Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

Uriah Hatzenbuhler
NEW BERLIN — Uriah G. Hatzenbuhler, 94, of New Berlin, died Sunday, April 11, 1999, in Utica.

He was born April 29, 1904, in Mount Clemens, Mich., the son of William L. and Ida (Green) Hatzenbuhler.

He married Ruth Adilaide Rathburn on June 30, 1938, in Broadalbin, who survives.

He retired from the New York State Electric and Gas Corp. in 1969, after working in the Oneonta, Sidney and New Berlin areas.

He was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Broadalbin.

He was a charter member and past president of the IBEW No. 992 and had been honored for his many years of membership. He was a member of Phoebus Lodge No. 82 of New Berlin, serving as secretary for many years. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Utica.

Uriah is survived by one son, Richard W. Hatzenbuhler of Hillsboro, N.H.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three brothers, William, Jacob and Charles Hatzenbuhler, and one sister, Dulcie Hatzenbuhler.

A memorial service will be held for the family at a later date. Interment will be in Broadalbin Cemetery, Broadalbin.

Memorial donations may be made to the New Berlin Emergency Squad, New Berlin; the Tirandirah Chapter O.E.S. No. 457 of New Berlin; Phoebus Lodge No. 82 of New Berlin; or the NRA.

Geraldine Bundy
GARRATTSVILLE — Geraldine Bundy, 98, of Garrattsville, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.

She was born July 1, 1900, the daughter of John F. and Bessie (Tyler) Bundy.

Geraldine attended the Oneonta Normal School and taught in the areas local One Room School House, until centralization. During the war she was employed by Scintilla in Sidney. Later Geraldine was a seamstress for the Dietz Street Dress Factory in Oneonta, until her retirement. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Geraldine is survived by her nieces, nephew and their spouses, Betty and LeRoy Polling of Palm Bay, Fla., Barbara and Vernon Bunn of Utica and Donald and Doris Hull of Garrattsville; several cousins; and a special friend, Shirley Swan.

She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Hull, in August 1998.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston, with Pastor Bill Lyon officiating. Calling hours are two hours prior to the service. Interment will be later in the spring at Edmeston Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Geraldine's memory to the Garrattsville Emergency Squad.

Arrangements are by Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.

Vera Goodrich
ONEONTA — Miss Vera Goodrich, 83, of Oneonta, died Wednesday morning, April 14, 1999, at her home.

Vera was born June 27, 1915, in Oneonta, the daughter of William D. and Jennie A. (Tourjee) Goodrich.

Vera was a Gold Star member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 116 Martha Chapter of Oneonta. She was a self-employed home health care aid in the area.

Vera is survived by a nephew, John Goodrich of Otego; six cousins, Freda Bordzol, Ted Bordzol and Betsy Ann Mabie of Oneonta, Marion Perry of New Berlin, and Harriett Marie Zalai and Lena Hoyt of Virginia.

Vera Goodrich is survived by six nieces and nephews, Bernice Goodrich Daley of Wells Bridge, Beatrice Goodrich Darlin of Sanford, Fla., Ralph Goodrich, William Goodrich, Jeanette Goodrich Currie of Wells Bridge and Phyllis Goodrich Beach of Florida.

She was predeceased by three brothers, George D. Goodrich, Dewey H. Goodrich and Ceylon V. Goodrich, and a nephew, Leonard Goodrich.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta, with the Rev. Gary Folz officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 7 to 9 at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820.

Arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

David C. Parker
URBANA, Ill. — David Chapman Parker, 60, died on Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, Ill.

Mr. Parker was born in Binghamton, N.Y., but resided in Champaign-Urbana, Ill., the last 22 years.

He received a bachelor's degree in philosophy in 1961 and a master's in sociology in 1967, from Binghamton University. He was an assistant professor of sociology at the State University College at Oneonta, from 1967 to 1974.

He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Urbana, Ill., and his memorial service will be held there on Saturday, April 24, 1999, at 2 p.m. He was also a longtime published member of the Red Herring Poets and University Chess Club.

David is survived by his mother, Mary Agnes Parker of Miami Beach; two daughters, Heidi M. Kester of W. Walworth, N.Y., and Mandi C. Mader of Garrett Park, Md.; a brother and sister; and four grandchildren.

Robert L. Renwick
COOPERSTOWN — Mr. Robert L. Renwick, 75, of Beaver Meadow Road, Cooperstown, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Bassett Healthcare.

Robert was born May 28, 1923, in the town of Middlefield, a son of Charles and Susan (Thayer) Renwick.

He married Ruby Clark on April 2, 1943.

Robert was a resident of the Cooperstown area his entire life. He worked his farm as well as a milk truck driver, worked for GLF store, owned by Ed Stevens, worked at the Harrison Feed Store in Milford, at Agway for 18 years, and at Ed Weeks Trucking.

Robert was a volunteer fireman of Co. No. 2 Hartwick Seminary for more than 35 years, a member of the Cooperative Extension Farm Bureau, Eastern Milk Producer, a volunteer of Head Start bus rider, helped out at Jackie's Restaurant and Cooperstown Appliance, as well as a member of Hartwick Senior Citizens.

His favorite activities were enjoying his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his love of cats.

Robert is survived by his wife, Ruby; four daughters and their spouses; Mrs. Gloria Jean Wayman, Roberta and Frederick Vesely, Gail and Earl Walrath and Sandy and Robert Chase Jr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Everet and Carlene Renwick; a brother, Charles Renwick of Unadilla; a sister, Pearl Higgins of Altoona, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a special friend and companion, Dorothy LaGasse.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Roland (Pete) Renwick, Homer Renwick, Walter Renwick and James Renwick, and a sister, Lydia Garlick.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 19, 1999, at 1 p.m. at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home in Cooperstown, with the Rev. Paul Messner, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Hartwick Seminary, officiating.

Calling hours will be Sunday, April 18, 1999, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home in Cooperstown, when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will be at the Hartwick Seminary Cemetery in Hartwick Seminary.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial donations in his name may be sent to Hartwick Seminary Fire Department Company No. 2, 4877 State Highway 28, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Isabella D. Birdsall
DELHI — Miss Isabella D. "Belle" Birdsall, 99, a native and lifelong Delhi resident, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Countryside Care Center, Delhi, where she had been residing since 1985.
She was born Feb. 11, 1900, in Delhi, the daughter of James D. and Ella May (Gemmel) Birdsall.

A graduate of Delaware Academy, she never married and was employed for many years as a typist and secretary for the former Security Mutual Fire Insurance Co., Delhi, until her retirement.

Miss Birdsall was a life member of the Delhi United Methodist Church, now United Ministry, where she sang in the choir and subsequently arranged the church Christmas and Easter floral offerings for some years.

She was predeceased by a brother, Lynn G. Birdsall (1970), and two sisters, A. Marjorie Birdsall (1990) and Catherine B. Ferguson (1993).

There are no immediate survivors.

Friends are invited to call at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, (today) by her pastor, the Rev. Mark Chatterton, and burial will be in the Birdsall family plot in Woodland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Ministry of Delhi.

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi.

Alice L. Folts
CORTLAND — Alice L. Folts, 79, of Cortland, passed away Wednesday, April 14, at her home.

She was born March 27, 1920, to the late Deforest and Florence (Woodcock) Lormore in Sidney Center.

Alice was employed for a short time at Scintilla in Sidney.

She married Charles H. Folts on March 29, 1939. He predeceased her Oct. 2, 1993.

Alice was a member of the Methodist Church.

She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 354 in Bainbridge and Afton.

Alice is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Bronner of Middletown, Gina and Tom Goodrich of Coventryville and Charlene Loudon of Cortland; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Lormore, and a sister, Grace Zegouris.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 19, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Ernest A. Steffensen, assistant pastor of the First Congregational Church of Coventryville, officiating.

Friends may call Sunday, April 18, from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral chapel. There will be an Order of the Eastern Star Service Sunday at 3 p.m.

Burial will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Caring Community Hospice of Cortland, 4281 North Homer Ave., Cortland, N.Y. 13045.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Inc., 21 Main St., Sidney.

David Anthony Tiska
MASONVILLE — David Anthony Tiska, 3, of Masonville, passed away Thursday, April 15 at The Hospital, Sidney.

He was born Aug. 18, 1995, to Gregory and Barbara (Miller) Tiska in  Johnson City.

David is survived by his parents Gregory and Barbara Tiska of Masonville; a brother, Brian Tiska of Masonville; a sister, Cassidy Tiska of Masonville; maternal grandparents, Lois and Don Wilson of Unadilla and Kenneth Miller and Mary Barnes of Unadilla; paternal grandparents, Stephen and Kathleen Tiska of Masonville; paternal great-grandparents, Fred and Bernie Boardman of Sidney; Uncle Teddy and Aunt Marie Tiska and cousins Ben and Sam Tiska of Masonville; Uncle Danny and Aunt Lisa Tiska of Oneonta; godfather, Michael O'Dell of Masonville; godmother, Michelle Hahn of Methuen, Mass.; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 19, at Sacred Heart Church, Liberty Street, Sidney, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Schuck officiating.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, April 18, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Burial will be in Masonville Cemetery, Masonville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonville Fire Department or Masonville Emergency Squad.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Inc., 21 Main St., Sidney.

Pauline B. Applegate
RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Pauline B. Applegate, 78, of The Meadows, Cooperstown, and formerly of 37 East Main St., Richfield Springs, died on Tuesday, April 13, 1999, in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.

She was born on Nov. 19, 1920, in Lakewood, N.J., the daughter of the late Leroy and Myrtle Applegate.

Pauline was raised and educated in New Jersey.

For many years she was a self-employed housekeeper in the Richfield Springs area, retiring in 1986.

Surviving her are a brother, Boyd Applegate of Florida; three sisters, Rhoda Applegate, Etta Mae Reed and Mary E. Burke, all of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services and interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Toms River, N.J., at a time convenient to the family.

Funeral arrangements were made with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
