AUGUSTA G. FINNEGAN

Augusta G. Finnegan, age 92, formerly of 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, died Saturday, November 8, 2003 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Plainfield, New Jersey on June 20, 1911, she was the daughter of Henry and Rose (Ungaretti) Gudehus.

She married Walter Finnegan on May 19, 1945. He died March 30, 1996. She is survived by a son: Walter Finnegan, Jr. and Randy Hunt of Saranac Lake; a granddaughter: Katherine Anne Finnegan; a grandson: Brandon Patrick Finnegan of Saranac Lake; mother of the grandchildren: Mary Jean Finnegan of Saranac Lake; two sisters: Ruth Vantuinen of Waumee, OH and Gertrude Desimone of SanClemente, CA, and several nieces and nephews, including a niece: Denise McCormick and her husband James of Saranac Lake. She was preceded in death by her father Henry Gudehis, her mother Rose Ungaretti Gudehus, two brothers: Air Force Colonel Judson Gudehus and Henry Gudehus; a sister: Amelia Burleigh and a granddaughter: Kelsey Lynn Finnegan.

Visitation will be held at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9. A Catholic Daughters Service will be held at 7:30pm on Monday and a Bible Vigil will be held at 8:45pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:15am Tuesday at St. Bernard's Church with Kevin McEwan officiating and a Catholic Daughter Honor Guard in attendance. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.

Friends wishing to remember Mrs. Finnegan may make memorial contributions to Saranac Lake Adult Center or St. Bernard's School in care of the funeral home.

ELSIE M. LAMB

Elsie M. Lamb, 101, a resident of Lakeland, FL and formally a resident of Lake Placid, died at her home Tuesday, November 11, 2003. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on February 11, 1902, the daughter of Thomas G. Tracy and Sarah (Ledwith) Tracy.

Mrs. Lamb was the widow of J. Vernon Lamb, who passed away in Lake Placid on August 6, 1969.

She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Claire Carey of Bradenton, FL and Mrs. Eleanor Wild and her husband Ted of Lakeland, FL; two sons: Vernon Lamb and his wife Winnie of Lake Placid and Nash Lamb and his wife Dana of Pryor, OK. There are also 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren surviving.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 15, at 11am at St. Eustace Episcopal Church in Lake Placid. Burial will follow at North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY, is in charge of arrangements.

FRANKLIN J. WENNER

Word has been received of the death of Franklin J. Wenner on November 5, 2003, formerly of Saranac Lake and, most recently, of Galveston,  Texas.

A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, November 14, at 9am at St. Bernard's Church in the Chapel. A reception will follow at the Moose Lodge on Broadway in Saranac Lake.

ELIZABETH "BETTY" CRAWFORD

Elizabeth "Betty" Crawford, age 73, of Hill Street, died Thursday, November 12, 2003 at her home. Born in  Washington, CT, on March 14, 1930, she was the daughter of Harold and Ruth Cable. She married Clarence Crawford on December 21, 1974 in Springfield, MA. He predeceased her in 1993.

She is survived by her daughter: Lisa Corrow of Tupper Lake; a son: Mark Rogers of Danville, PA; granddaughters: Tiffany LaPierre of NC, Amy and Nicole LaPierre of Tupper Lake; grandsons: Mark Rogers of Westfield, MA, Justin Rogers of North Adams, MA; great granddaughter: Stormy Michelle Fowler of NC; a sister: Geraldine Rowe of CT; three brothers: Warren Phelps of St. Louis, MO, Howard Cable of CT, Charlie Cable of CT, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at Fortune-Keough-Rennell Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, November 14, from 1-3pm and the service will follow at 3pm at the funeral home with Reverend John Matern of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. There will be no burial service. Friends wishing to remember Elizabeth "Betty" Crawford may make memorial contributions to High Peaks Hospice.

RAYMOND PERRY

Raymond Perry, age 92, of McMaster Road, Lake Clear, died Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Fort Covington, New York on October 22, 1911, he was the son of Fred and Leona (DeLosh) Perry. He was married to the former Dorothy "Dot" Strack on September 28, 1963. She predeceased him on February 12, 1989.

He is survived by a sister: Elizabeth Rogers of Brasher Falls, NY, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Catherine Cozy, Anna Richards and Irene Jaquis, and his brother: Edward Perry.

Visitation will be held at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday from 10-11am. The Funeral Service will follow at 11am at the funeral home with Father Kevin McEwan officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Vermontville.

Friends wishing to remember Raymond Perry may make memorial contributions to the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad.

GERALD E. THOMAS

Gerald E. Thomas, age 75, of 18 Cold Brook Road, Vermontville, died Monday, November 17, 2003 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Fort Covington, New York on November 24, 1927, he was the son of Archie and Rhoda (Burke) Thomas.

He is survived by his wife: the former Mescal Merrill of Vermontville, whom he married August 7, 1965 in Seneca Falls, NY; a son: Wayne Thomas of Oregon; a daughter: Becky Feinmann and her husband Millard of Brushton; four sisters: Carrie Richards, Freda  Johnson and Theresa Kernan, all of Fort Covington, NY, and Kathleen Edmonston of Baldwinsville, NY; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Archie Thomas, his mother Rhoda Burke Thomas and his sister Esther Wells.

MINDY ANN OUTCALT

Mindy Ann Outcalt, 36, formally of Lake Placid and a resident of Vardamin, Mississippi, passed away in Mississippi on November 17, 2003. Mindy was born in Lake Placid on August 13, 1967, the daughter of George (Skip) and Kim (McCalvin) Outcalt.

Mindy is survived by her mother: Kim Marie McCalvin of Schuyler Falls, NY, and her father: George (Skip) Outcalt and his wife Julie of Saranac Lake, NY. She is also survived by her sister: Jenny Laurie Outcalt of Schuyler Falls and her brother: Christopher Outcalt of Saranac Lake; maternal grandmother: Jennie McCalvin of Lake Placid, and her paternal grandmother: Evelyn Outcalt of Saranac Lake. She is also survived by four uncles: Ronald McCalvin, Marty McCalvin, William McCalvin and Robert McCalvin, and two aunts: Winnie Outcalt and Peggy Outcalt.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, November 21, from 5pm to 7pm at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home Friday at 7pm. Reverend Mark Demers, Pastor of the Adirondack Community Church, will officiate. Reverend Carol Drew of the First Presbyterian Church in Saranac Lake will assist. Memorial donations may be made to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society, 33 Algonquin Avenue, Saranac Lake, NY 12983 or ComLinks Domestic Violence Intervention Program, 343 Main Street, Malone, NY 12953.

MURIEL K. GRADY

Muriel K. Grady, 78, formally a resident of Cascade Acres, Lake Placid, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid, where she had been a resident since February 9, 2000. Muriel was born in Lake Placid March 23, 1925, the daughter of Edgar J. and Margaret Kennedy. Her husband Robert E. Grady died in 1973.

She is survived by two sons: Gary Grady and his wife Mary of Wilmington and Michael Grady and his wife Joan of Lake Placid; one daughter: Cindy Grady and her friend Brian of Lake Placid; three brothers: Richard Kennedy and his wife Janice of Peru, John Kennedy and his wife Maude of Peru, and Eugene Kennedy and his wife Carol of Ausable Forks; three sisters: Kay Coolidge of Ausable Forks, Mary Ellen Burke and her husband Ken of Virginia, and Nancy Kepner of Vergennes, VT. Muriel is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Carrie, Cade, Cameron, Colin and Ryan Grady and three great-grandchildren: Saylor, Carter and Cooper Grady. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Monday, November 24, from 5-8pm. A Bible Vigil Service will be held at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 25, at 11am at the St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid. Reverend Patrick O'Reilly, Chaplain of Uihlein Mercy Center, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to Tri-Lakes Humane Society, 33 Algonquin Avenue, Saranac Lake, NY 12983 in her memory.

ABRAHAM FEATHER

Abraham Feather, 88, a resident of Uihlein Mercy Center, died Saturday, November 22, 2003. He was born May 21, 1915, the son of Jules and Sara Feather.

He is survived by one daughter: Susan Nemeron and a granddaughter: Julie Nemeron, both of Manlius, NY.

A Graveside Service will be held Monday, November 24, at 11am at the Jewish Cemetery in Tupper Lake. Rabbi Alec Friedmann will officiate. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.

GLENN DAVID DELAIR

Glenn David Delair, 56, of Main Street, Tupper Lake, died unexpectedly Friday, November 21, at his home.

He was born February 21, 1947, in Tupper Lake, the son of Wilbur "Duke" and Gloria (Fuller) Delair.

Glenn had been married to the former Phyllis Drasye of Tupper Lake. He is survived by his sister: Deborah Farley of Cadyville, NY, cousins and friends of Tupper Lake.

Calling hours will be held Monday, November 24, from 4pm to 9pm at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Name Church on Tuesday, November 25, at 11am. Burial will follow at the Holy Name Cemetery. Memorial donations may be considered to the Tupper Lake Volunteer Rescue Squad.

OLIVE L. GARDINER

Olive L. Gardiner, age 95, of 56 Riverside Drive, Saranac Lake, died Monday, December 29, 2003 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY.

Born in Saranac Lake, NY, on August 25, 1908, she was the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Supernault) Lascore.

She married Frank T. Gardiner on November 8, 1952 in Saranac Lake, NY. He predeceased her on September 7, 1975.

She is survived by one nephew: Eugene Christian of Mechanicville, NY; one niece: Lucille Christian of Westport, CT. She was preceded in death by five sisters: Clara Lascore, Norma Lascore, Eva Stucker, Hazel Christian and Gertrude Ferdon.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake, NY. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in May at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake, NY. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.

AGNES WARD

Agnes Ward, age 73, of 78 St. Regis Avenue, Bloomingdale, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY.

Born in Utica, NY on January 25, 1930, she was the daughter of Harold and Gertrude (Budine) Sterling. She married Thomas F. Ward, Jr. on June 18, 1949 at St. Francis DeSlas Church in Utica, NY. He predeceased her October 20, 1999.

She is survived by one daughter: Linda Metz and her husband David of Detroit, MI; four sons: Michael J. of Rochester, NY, Patrick D. and his wife Elizabeth of Rochester, NY, Kavin G. of Saranac Lake and Paul and his wife Carol of Vermontville, NY, and 12 grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister: Gertrude Papagno of Utica, NY; two brothers: Harold Sterling of Herkimer, NY and Albert Sterling of Saranac Lake, NY, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son: Tom Ward, and her sister: Kathy Nessia.

Calling hours will be held at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Bible Vigil Service will take place at 8:30pm on Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:15am on Monday at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale, with Reverend Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale in May.

NORMA A. DUKETT

Norma A. Dukett, age 81, of 1 Will Rogers Drive, Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at her home.

Born in Elizabethtown, NY, on July 7, 1922, she was the daughter of Grant and Grace (Goodspeed) Field.

She was predeceased by her former husband: Arthur H. Dukett in 1995. They were married in 1943. Survivors include two son: Thomas Dukett of Austin, TX and Peter Dukett of Saranac Lake; three daughters: Tamara Bishop of Colorado Springs, CO, Tana Rocco of Pueblo, CO, and Joy Hayes of Austin, TX; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother: Robert Field of Bradenton, FL, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father: Grant Field; her mother: Grace Goodspeed, and her two brothers: Allyn and Bernard Field.

Visitation will be held at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4pm. A Bible Vigil will be held at 3:45pm Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 5, 2004 at 11:15am at St. Bernard's Church with Father Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Elizabethtown in May.

CAROLYN "BUBBLES" KURTZ

Carolyn "Bubbles" Kurtz, 53, of 30 Greenwood Street, Lake Placid, died suddenly Saturday, January 3, 2004 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born May 9, 1950 in Saranac Lake, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Rosamae (Ledwith) Bechore. She married Peter A. Kurtz on May 14, 1994 in Saranac Lake, NY.

She is survived by her husband Peter Kurtz of Lake Placid; her only daughter: Christin (Hare) Strack and her husband William of Saranac Lake; her beloved grandchildren: William, Breanna, and Shania Strack, all of Saranac Lake. She is also survived by two sisters: Rosalie Snyder and her husband Larry of Bloomingdale, Annamae Carter and her husband Oswald of Saranac Lake; and three brothers: Richard Bechore of Lake Placid, Harold Bechore and his wife Shirley of Plant City, Florida and William Bechore of Dannemora. There is also one aunt, several nieces, nephews and cousins surviving. Carolyn was predeceased by her parents: Rosamae and William Bechore; two nephews: Shannon and Shawn Carter; and a brother-in-law: Arnold E. Charland, Sr.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 6, 2004 from 7-9pm at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at 2pm at the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church, 42 Averyville Road. Cremation will follow. Burial will be at a later date at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Redford, NY. Anyone wishing to remember Carolyn "Bubbles" may make memorial donations to the Autism Foundation or a charity of your choice.

JAMES J. VALENZE

James J. Valenze, 66, of 21 School Street, Lake Placid, died Monday, January 5, 2004 at Saint Peter's Hospital in Albany after a short illness. He was born in Lake Placid on September 30, 1937, the son of Herman and Pearl (Roy) Valenze.

He married Betty Colby on September 26, 1959 and she passed away in 1988. He married the former Leslie Woodbury on March 25, 2002.

James is survived by his wife: Leslie of Lake Placid; one daughter: Shari St. Louis and her husband Martin of Lake Placid; one sister: Joan Patterson and her husband Pat of Black Brook; two grandchildren: Andrew and Matthew St. Louis, both of Lake Placid. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Wayne and Edna Woodbury of Long Island; a stepdaughter: Tiffany Thomes and her husband John of Mohawk, NY; two stepsons: Travis and Erik Lamoy of Lake Placid; a brother-in-law: Wayne Woodbury and his wife Cheryl of Long Island; one stepgrandson: Jarrod Thomes of Mohawk. Jim is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Thursday, January 8, from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 9, at 10am at St. Agnes Church. Burial will be in North Elba Cemetery in May. Friends are asked to consider donations in Jim's memory be made to Lake Placid High School Varsity Boy's Hockey Jersey Fund, c/o Keith Clark, Lake Placid High School, 250 Main Street, Lake Placid, NY 12946 or Lake Placid Pee Wee Athletic Association, P.O. JEAN E. ROCK

Jean E. Rock, age 74, formerly of Kimpton Road, Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at Adirondack Medical Center.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on May 31, 1929, she was the daughter of Ernest and Irene (Quintal) Walton.

She married Raymond "Ray" Rock on May 17, 1947 in St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake. He predeceased her September 17, 1999.

She is survived by three daughters: Linda Woodard and her husband Edmund of Saranac Lake, Marie Rock of Crystal River, FL, and Bonnie Myers of St. Petersburg, FL; one son: Raymond Rock of Saranac Lake, NY; two sisters: Helen Pelkey of Saranac Lake, NY, and Geraldine Gilbert of St. Petersburg, FL. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, one great-granddaughters; four brothers: Ernest, Raymond, George and Richard Walton and one sister: Ruth LaVair.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at 12pm on Friday, January 9, 2004 at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid with Reverend Patrick O'Riely officiating. Interment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May.

KARINA JAMES COLGAN

Word has been received of the death of Karina James Colgan, infant daughter of Shane and Camelia (Sturza) Colgan, who was born on January 11, 2004 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

She is survived by her mother and father: Camelia and Shane Colgan of Saranac Lake, NY; her maternal grandparents Didina and Florin Sturza of Poughkeepsie, NY; paternal grandparents: Bonnie and Jim Colgan of Dover Plains, NY; maternal great-grandmother: Geta Cotoiu of Terrytown, NY; paternal grandparents: Hollis and Esther Moore of Dover Plains, NY and her aunt and uncle: Holly and Jason Whaley of Dover Plains, NY.

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday from 1-3pm and from 5-7pm at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake, NY. A Prayer Service will take place at 6:45pm at the funeral home. Additional funeral services will take place at the Hufcut Funeral Home in Dover Plains later in the week. Interment will take place in the South Dover Cemetery in Wingdale, NY.
