Ralph Campione Jr.
NEW LISBON — Ralph Campione Jr., 57, of New Lisbon, formerly of Edison, N.J., died Monday, April 12, 1999, at his home with his family at his side.

He was born on Nov. 17, 1941, in Newark, N.J.

On Sept. 20, 1960, he married Joann Buttitta, who survives.

Ralph was a plumber employed by Plumbers Union Local No. 24, in Springfield, N.J., for 32 years before retiring and moving to New Lisbon in 1996.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to connect with nature. He accomplished many goals in his life, but his greatest one was the love of his family.

In addition to his wife, Joann, he is survived by his sons, Rocco of East Brunswick, N.J., and Ralph III of Colonia, N.J.; a brother, Robert; sisters, Helena Romano and Dolores DeMaio; four grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly; and numerous friends that treasured his friendship.

A Funeral Mass was held Saturday, April 17, 1999, at St. John Vianney's RC Church, Colonia, N.J.

Contributions in memory of Ralph may be made to Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820.

Local arrangements were made by Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.

Robert Victor Caskey
BARSLOW,  Calif. — Robert Victor Caskey of Barslow,  Calif., formerly of Sidney, N.Y., died Friday, April 16, 1999, at the age of 67, at the Veterans Home of Barslow,  Calif.

He was born in Irvington, N.J., April 1, 1932, the son of the late Victor R. Caskey and Bertha A. Horsch, and was predeceased by his brother, Victor R. Caskey Jr.

He entered the Navy after high school and served during World War II on a minesweeper. After his tour of duty he married Ann Ciantra. He resided in Pleasant Valley, Hartwick, N.Y., then moved to Sidney and lived in Sidney for many years.

Robert worked many years as a tool and dye maker for Bendix, before moving across the United States.

He is survived by three children, Joann Ciantra and Tina Pronier, both residing in California, and Mark Caskey of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren, Shawna, Crissy, and Skye Pronier; his sister, Bertha C. Fancher of Unadilla, N.Y.; a nephew, William R. Jubin; and a stepmother, Mary L. Caskey of Sidney, N.Y.

Cremation will be in Barslow,  Calif., and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Unadilla, N.Y., in the family plot.

Robert W. Gallup
ALTAMONT — Robert W. Gallup, 58, of Altamont Boulevard, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Albany Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Gallup was born in Worcester, on April 8, 1941, to the late William S. and Mary Jane Babock Gallup.

He has resided in the Capital District for many years.

He was employed by Agway in Guilderland as a feederman for 29 years.

Robert is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Tina) Shulgay, Mrs. James (Candice) Hunter, and Nicole and Kristi Gallup, all of Schenevus; a sister, Donna Briscoli of Albany; a brother, William Gallup of Albany; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services at the United Methodist Church of Worcester, Worcester, on Saturday, April 24, 1999, at 11 a.m., and may call at the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, on Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester.

Contributions in his memory to the American Lung Association, 8 Mountain View Ave., Colonie, N.Y. 12205 would be appreciated.

Mary L. Ferris
CHERRY VALLEY — Mary L. Ferris, 77, formerly of Fly Creek, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at The Meadows, Middlefield.

Mary was born March 1, 1922, in Cherry Valley, the daughter of Alonzo and Grace (Freelan) Thompson.

She married Emerson H. Ferris on Sept. 15, 1940, in Briarcliff Manor.

She lived in the Worcester area for 21 years, then she lived in the Cooperstown area for 22 years.

She is a former member of the Worcester United Methodist Church, a former Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader in Worcester, a foster parent for 12 years caring for 68 children. Mary graduated from Horace Greeley High School in Chapaqua, in June of 1939.

Mary is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marietta and David H. Bridger Sr. of Roseboom; three sons and daughters-in-law, Alonzo E. and Toni Ferris of Santee,  Calif., Thomas R. and Jeanne Ferris of Byron, Minn., and Emerson H. Jr. and Kathleen Ferris of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Dubray of Ossining and Jane MacKenzie of Carnation, Wash.; two brothers, Adee, and his wife, Anita Thompson of Morganton, Ga., and Richard Thompson of Garrattsville; many nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Myrtle Weidman of Worcester, Lois Thomspon of Hartwick and Edith Selig formerly of Worcester.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Thompson and Keith Weidman, and her husband, Emerson Ferris.

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 1999, at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Worcester, with the Rev. Joyce Allen, pastor of the Worcester United Methodist Church, officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mary to the charity of one's choice.

Funeral arrangements are by E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 115 Main St., Worcester.

Michael J. Vamosy
COATESVILLE, Pa. — Michael J. Vamosy, 90, of Coatesville, Pa., formerly of Stamford, N.Y., died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at home of his niece, Pat Plant in Coatesville, Pa.

He was born Jan. 16, 1909, in Buffalo, N.Y., the son of the late Michael Vamosy Sr. and Mary Fox.

He was a retired dairy farmer, in Stamford. He owned his own farm. He was also employed by the Delaware and Hudson Railroad and Sheffield Creamery.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Stamford, and a past master of Utsayantha Grange.

Michael is survived by his brothers, Steven Vamosy of Stamford and Albert Vamosy of Stamford; and his sisters, Anna Briggs of Stamford and Julia Coulson of Malvern, Pa.

He was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 26, 1999, at 11 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Stamford. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery, Stamford.

Friends and relatives may call on Sunday, April 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home, 142 West Main St., Stamford, N.Y.

Arrangements are by Mauger/Givnish Funeral Home of Malvern, Pa., and local arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, Stamford.

Steven Blumenkrantz
MARYLAND — Steven J. Blumenkrantz, 52, of the town of Maryland, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 20, 1999, of an apparent heart attack. He was the beloved husband of Carole, father of Katie Blumenkrantz, son of Renee and the late Harris Blumenkrantz and brother of David Blumenkrantz.

Having been licensed before the Federal District Court, the United States Supreme Court and the New York State Bar, Steven was a practicing attorney since 1974. He was also a practicing Certified Public Accountant from 1974-89. He practiced law in New York City and Oneonta. He was an assistant professor of economics and business at the State University College at Oneonta. He had administrative expertise and was a key visionary community organizer in 1995-1996 in facilitating a Commerce Department Telecommunications and Information Infrastructure Assistance Program.

Between 1993 and 1995 he was the director of Catholic Charities of Otsego and Delaware Counties. From 1987 to the present, he was a general contractor for SJB Building Concepts and Designs Ltd. and was doing building management for BFR Realty, BluRoth Realty and Jay Wilson Realty. From 1980 to the present, he was director of the National Institute of Business Economics Inc. (NIBE). From 1972 to 1974 he was executive director of Sub-Board I Inc., State University of New York at Buffalo, where he was administrator, legal/accounting advisor, instructor, facilitator, innovator and mediator.

He was a founder and from 1990 to the present, a director of the Center for the Advancement of Youth, Family and Community Services Inc. of Glastonbury, Conn.

Steven was a member of the Broome Community Bankruptcy Bar Association, Central New York Region Bankruptcy Bar Association, Otsego County Bar Association and the Capital Region Bankruptcy Bar Association.

He is the co-author, along with Robert Rosenberg, of the textbook, "Personal Law," Wiley and Sons, 1984.

He was honored by the New York State Bar Association with a certificate of appreciation and was listed in Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World.

Memorial services will be held at the Shineman Chapel on the Hartwick College Campus at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 1999.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, N.Y. 14620 or the Wegener's Granulomatosis Support Group, P.O. Box 28660, Kansas City, Mo. 64188.

Arrangements are by the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.

Elsie M. Osborne
BURLINGTON FLATS — Elsie M. Osborne, 93, of Burlington Flats, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at her home with her family at her side.

She was born April 20, 1906, at the family homestead in Burlington Flats, the daughter of William and Bertha (Hatcher) Parker.

She married Claude Osborne on Dec. 17, 1938. He predeceased her in 1972.

Elsie was a member of the Burlington Flats Baptist Church and the Friendly Neighbors Club. She enjoyed researching the genealogy of the Parker family. In early years, she was employed at the Lincoln Laundry in Utica and at the Otsego Mutual Insurance Co. in Burlington Flats. Elsie was a homemaker and an avid gardener who loved her flowers.

She is survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and their families and her sister-in-law, Irene Osborn of the Meadows.

She was predeceased by her two brothers, Clarence and Leslie Parker and her sister, Dorothy Crandall.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at 11 a.m., at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston with the Rev. Jay Henderson officiating.

Interment will follow at the Burlington Flats Cemetery.

Calling hours are one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elsie's memory to the Catskill Area Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the Houk-Johnstong-Terry Funeral Home of Edmeston.

Ella M. Manchester
SCHENECTADY — Ella M. Manchester, 97, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Scotia.

She was born Sept. 8, 1901, in South Valley, the daughter of Orra and Euleta (Barnes) Rury.

She married Wilson L. Manchester. He predeceased her in 1936.

Ella lived in Schenectady for more than 50 years and was formerly of the Worcester area. She spent her winters in Winter Haven, Fla.

Ella worked for General Electric in Schenectady in the Induction Motor Test Department for 15 years.

She was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church in Schenectady and a lifelong member of the East Worcester Fish and Game Club.

She is survived by one brother, Carl Rury of Binghamton and Winter Haven, Fla., and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Edna Martin, Minnie R. Dibble and Sylvia Price, and one brother, Walter Rury.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 1999, at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Worcester, with the Rev. Susan Strang, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Calling hours will be from 2-4 p.m. Monday, April 26, at the E.J. Skinner Funeral Chapel in Worcester.

Contributions may be made in loving memory of Ella to the Broadway United Methodist Church, Schenectady, N.Y. 12306.

Funeral arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 115 Main St., Worcester.

Ethel L. Tryon
ORISKANY — Ethel L. Tryon, 97, formerly of Cobleskill, died Friday, April 23, at the Eastern Star Home.

Mrs. Tryon was born Jan. 30, 1902, in the town of Middleburgh and was the daughter of George and Edna (Cain) Rickard.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Tryon, who died in 1963.

Mrs. Tryon was a lifelong area resident and was employed in food services at the Cobleskill College for 15 years as well as Howes Caverns for 10 years.

She was a member of the Cobleskill United Methodist Church, Rising Star — Onistagrawa Chapter 295, Order of the Eastern Star and the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club of Cobleskill, which she was a past president for seven years.

She is survived by a son, Jerry Tryon of Cobleskill; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 26, at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 68 Elm St., Cobleskill, with the Rev. Franklin Wright and Rev. David Handy officiating.

A calling hour will precede the funeral service. Burial will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
