Marion R. Kinch
WESTFORD — Marion R. Kinch, 91, of Westford, died suddenly Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at her home.

She was born July 20, 1907, in Westford, the daughter of Benjamin and Belle (Holmes) Roseboom.

She married Charles Everett Kinch on June 30, 1927, in Pleasant Brook. He passed away Feb. 8, 1967, in Lakeland, Fla.

Mrs. Kinch was a graduate of Oneonta Normal School. She was a school teacher, having taught in Amsterdam, Westford, Oneonta and Schenevus school districts. She retired in 1963. She also served for many years as a volunteer aid at Schenevus Central School.

Mrs. Kinch was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Westford, NSDAR, Iroquois Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 138, the Westford Historical Society and of the Westford Community Association.

Mrs. Kinch is survived by a son, Ronald Kinch and his wife, Helen of Schenevus; and their children, Cherie Powers and her husband, Tim of Worcester, Connie Kinch of Binghamton, Christie Dickinson and her husband, Ken of Albany; a daughter, Cynthia Palmer and her husband, Jay of Delanson; and their children, Lee Palmer and his wife, Kimberly of Greenville, S.C., and Lynn Palmer of Delanson; three great-grandchildren, Leita M., Nathan K. and Riley J. Powers of Worcester; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a son, Robert; two brothers, Horace and Howard Roseboom and a sister, Georgia Williams.

Calling hours will be held Friday, May 7, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.J. Skinner Funeral Chapel in Worcester. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, at the Westford United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bonnie McGraw, pastor, and the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, chaplain at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, officiating. Burial will follow at the Westford Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of Mrs. Kinch, to the Schenevus Central School, Awards Fund, 100 Main St., Schenevus, N.Y. 12155, the Westford First Responders, P.O. Box 187, Westford, or the Westford Fire Department, P.O. Box 24, Westford, N.Y. 13488.

Funeral arrangements are by E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester.

Vida H. Martucci
MIDDLEFIELD — Mrs. Vida Helen Martucci, 92, of Middlefield, formerly of Oneonta died Tuesday morning, May 4, 1999, at The Meadows.

She was born July 8, 1906, in Oneonta, the daughter of Ray and Mabel (Whitbeck) Whitney.

She married Vincent Martucci on June 1, 1927, in Oneonta. Mr. Martucci died in 1974.

Vida and her husband owned and operated several businesses including the Hobart Inn, the Andes Hotel, the Delhi Bowling Alley and the Soft Ice Cream Parlor in Delhi, as well as the Delhi Liquor Store. Vida lived in Andes and the Delhi area. In 1978, she returned to the Oneonta area.

Vida is survived by one nephew, Thomas W. and his wife, Bonnie Bowen of Goodyear Lake; one grandnephew, Thomas J. Bowen of Oneonta; and a special friend, Helen Goldmarr of Oneonta.

She was predeceased by a sister, Marion Bowen.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 6, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Judy Thistle, chaplain at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

Friends may call at their convenience on Thursday, May 6, 1999, until service time.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

Emily E. Wager
DELHI — Emily E. Wager, 77, of Delhi, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at M.I. Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.

She was born Jan. 22, 1922, in the town of Meredith, the daughter of James and Irene (Kyrk) Gracey.

A housewife and mother, she was married to the late Russell R. Wager in Walton on March 8, 1952. She was a resident of Irish Hill for 25 years, moving to DeLancey in April of 1950. Mrs. Wager had taken care of many invalid and homebound ladies in DeLancey and surrounding areas. In 1994, she moved to Delhi.

She was a member of DeLancey United Presbyterian Church for 10 years and served as deacon and for six years as an elder; later her membership was in Delhi First Presbyterian Church. She was involved with the Delaware County Senior Citizens in Delhi, Hamden and DeLancey and AARP; a member of the O'Connor Hospital Guild and a member and former first vice president and secretary of the Donald W. Gleason American Legion Post No. 190, Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Wager is survived by two daughters and two sons, Margaret Marrero of Holyoke, Mass., Robert R. Wager of New Martinsville, W. Va., Coral Shaddock of Chicopee, Mass., Peter Wager of DeLancey; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, J. Andrew Gracey of Cooperstown; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Gracey of Delhi; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A son, Ervin Wager in December of 1982, sister, Elizabeth Gracey, and a brother, James Gracey, predeceased her.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, May 8, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, with the Rev. Arvid Whitmore of the Delhi First Presbyterian Church officiating. Calling hours will be Friday, May 7, 1999, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date at Hamden Cemetery, Hamden.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Delhi First Presbyterian Church or to the organization of one's choice.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.

Glenn C. Fuller Jr.
DANUBE — Mr. Glenn C. (Bert) Fuller Jr., 54, of Cronkhite Road, town of Danube, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at the Samuel Stratton V.A. Medical Center, Albany, after a long illness.

He was born May 18, 1944, in Oneonta, the son of Glenn C. Fuller Sr. and Daisy Church.

Mr. Fuller was a graduate of Oneonta High School.

Mr. Fuller was a mill operator at Sentinel Products, St. Johnsville.

He lived in the Fort Plain area since 1995. He lived in Oneonta previously.

He served in the United States Army, serving from 1965 to 1967. He was a Vietnam veteran.

He married Rosemary A. Weaver on Jan. 16, 1999, in Fort Plain.

He was a member of the Rockwood Pilgrim Holiness Church in Rockwood.

Mr. Fuller is survived by his wife, Rosemary Fuller of Fort Plain; one daughter, Suzanne Jump of Fort Plain; his mother, Daisy Fuller of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Barbette Coffin of Fort Plain, Crystal Hazard of Gloversville and Victoria David of Fort Plain; one stepson, Benjamin David of Fort Plain; one brother, David Fuller of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two sisters, Linda Fuller of Oneonta and Gloria McDougal of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 6, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the Gray-Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Kenneth Sickler of the Rockwood Pilgrim Holiness Church officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Plain Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 10-11 a.m..

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rockwood Pilgrim Holiness Church, 142 County Highway 118, Johnstown, N.Y. 12095.

Henry Mummert
LOUCST GROVE, Va. — Henry "Hank" Ernest Mummert, 59, of Locust Grove, Va., died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at Mary  Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va.

Hank was born on Sept. 17, 1939, in Baltimore, Md., a son of Ernest G. and Mabel (Klein) Mummert.

He married Kathleen Olmstead on Jan. 6, 1978, in Upper Marlboro, Prince Georges County, Md.

He was raised in the state of Maryland. In 1957, following graduation and while working for Bethlehem Steel, he began his service in the United States Army National Guard at a Nike Missle Site in the state of Maryland. He later began a 30-year career in railroading. He was first employed by Penn Central, then Con Rail and most recently as a conductor for Amtrak out of  Washington, D.C.

Hank attended Christ Episcopal Church in Spottsylvania, Va., and was a member of the Maryland Historical Society and the United Transportation Union Local No. 1470.

Hank is survived by his wife of 21 years, Kathleen Olmstead of Loucst Grove, Va.; five sons, Henry E. Mummert Jr. of Suffolk, Va., Christopher A. Mummert, Thomas E. Mummert, Timothy W. Mummert and Theodore L. Mummert, all of Baltimore, Md.; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 1999, in the Hartwick Seminary Cemetery, with the Very Rev. Douglas C. Smith officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the Cooperstown Veterans Club.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.

Kevin F. Jerew
RENSSELAER — Kevin Francis Jerew, 32, died suddenly on Tuesday, May 4, 1999.

He was born in Albany on Jan. 11, 1967, he lived in Rensselaer most of his life, but most recently he resided in Oneonta.

He was a 1985 high school graduate of Rensselaer High School.

Kevin was employed as a carpenter and worked in construction most of his life. He took great pride in his work. He was also an avid baseball fan.

He is the beloved son of Verne and Elaine Fremgen Jerew of Rensselaer.

Kevin is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Tracy and Todd Hart of Rensselaer; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Crystal Jerew of Nassau; two nieces, Kachelle Hart of Rensselaer and Amanda Jerew of Nassau; one nephew, Brett Hart of Rensselaer; and a very dear friend, Holly Adam of Oneonta. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700  Washington Ave., Rensselaer, Saturday morning, May 8, 1999, at 8 a.m., and 9 a.m. at St. John's Church, Rensselaer, where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Rensselaer Little League, 2 Summit St., Rensselaer, N.Y. 12144 or Rensselaer Girls Softball Association.

Clara B. Parslow
RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Clara B. Parslow, 91, of Elm Street, died on Tuesday morning, May 4, 1999, in the Presbyterian Home, New Hartford.

She was born on Nov. 25, 1907, in Little Falls, daughter of the late Frank and Almira Dingman Souder.

Clara was raised and educated in Little Falls. On Nov. 18, 1928, she married William Henry Parslow in Little Falls — a blessed union of 33 years until his passing in November of 1961.

She was a member of the Columbus Community Methodist Church.

Clara is survived by four sons, Franklin and Dennis Parslow, both of Richfield Springs, William and his wife, Eleanor Parslow of Mohawk, Robert and his wife, Eileen Parslow of Leonardsville; four daughters, Sylvia and her husband, Edward Kabana of Brookfield, Olie and her husband, Lawrence Lawson of Westmoreland, Rosalie Parslow of Richfield Springs, and Grace and her husband, Thomas Farrell of Cassville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Edward, Charles and Richard Parslow.

Funeral services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family wishes to thank all the staff of the Presbyterian Home for their loving care and compassion during Clara's stay at the home.

Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.

Helen Cappiello
ANDES — Helen Cappiello, 88, of Andes, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at the Robinson Terrace Nursing Facility in Stamford.

Helen was born in Andes on May 8, 1910, the daughter of Charles and Matilda (Ackerly) Hyzer.

She was married to Ralph Cappiello, who predeceased her in 1966.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Louise Ouellette of East Hartford, Conn., and Virginia Yarborough of Baldwinsville; her sister, Mary Jardine of Bovina Center; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, 1999, at the Andes United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. George Carpenter, pastor of Margaretville United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Andes Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorials can be sent to South Kortright Rest Home or Robinson Terrace Nursing Facility in her name.

Arrangements are by the Jester-Stanley Funeral Home, Andes.

Mary H. Hughes
COOPERSTOWN — Mrs. Mary H. Hughes, 87, of Cooperstown, died Thursday morning, May 6, 1999, at The Meadows.

She was born on Dec. 12, 1911, in Ithaca, a daughter of the late Ebenezer T. and Mary Ann (Swayze) Harris.

She married Dr. Trevor H. Hughes on July 20, 1935, in Ithaca. Dr. Hughes died on Sept. 15, 1991.

Mary was raised in Ithaca, where she graduated from high school and went on to attend Cornell University. Shortly after their marriage, Mary and her husband moved to Cooperstown, where he established a veterinary practice. Mary loved all animals, most especially cats, and took care of all the animals in the animal hospital, even when she herself was ill. She also assisted Dr. Hughes by being his office manager, receptionist, message taker, surgical assistant and animal caregiver, yet still found time to be mother and homemaker.

After her husband retired in 1972, they enjoyed traveling and visited South America, Mexico, Spain and many of the Caribbean Islands. They also spent several winters in Mexico and Florida.

She was a member of the Cooperstown United Methodist Church, and for more than 50 years, was a member of the Otsego-Hartwick Chapter No. 201, Order of Eastern Star in Cooperstown. Mary was also an avid reader, especially enjoying mysteries, and was a storyteller herself, as the staff at The Meadows can attest to.

Mary is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon T. and Denise Hughes of New Hartford, Robert E. and Laura Hughes of Bridgewater, N.J., and David G. and Diane Hughes of Binghamton; her five grandchildren, Karin Hughes of Bothell, Wash., Michael Hughes of Orlando, Fla., Patricia Groff and her husband, Brian, of Landisville, Pa., and Julie and Heidi Hughes, both of Binghamton; her three great-grandsons, Jordan, Alec and Jacob Groff; one brother and sister-in-law, Tudor and Evelyn Hughes; and one brother-in-law, Arnold Shea, all of Utica; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Mrs. Edith McAnally and Mrs. Mildred Sinsabaugh; and one brother, Thomas Harris.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 1999, at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown, with the Rev. Jeffrey Hale, pastor of the Cooperstown United Methodist Church, officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Hartwick Seminary Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday, when Mary's family will be in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial donations may be made to the Activities Fund, care of The Meadows, 140 County Highway 33W, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.
