Marjorie Delamarter
ONEONTA — Mrs. Marjorie E. "Midge" Delamarter, 78, of Oneonta, died Sunday morning, June 13, 1999, at the home of her son in Cayuga.

She was born Feb. 9, 1921, in Davenport, the daughter of Carl and Vada (Munson) Schulz.

She married Clifford Delamarter Sr. on Jan. 19, 1939, in Oswego. Mr. Delamarter died March 14, 1988.

Marjorie lived for many years in Davenport Center and lived most of her married life in Meridale. In her later years she lived in Oneonta.

Before retiring she worked in area homes caring for the elderly.

She was a member of the Meredith Baptist Church of Meredith and a former member of the Davenport Grange. She enjoyed embroidering.

Marjorie is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Sherman Trass of Meridale and Donna and Frederick Fazio of New Berlin; one son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Andrea Delamarter Jr. of Cayuga; three brothers, Carl D. Schulz of Port Charlotte, Fla., George Robert Schulz of Davenport Center and Walter Schulz of Davenport Center; four grandchildren, Stuart Trass, Stephanie and Patrick McCann and Kelly and Shannon Delamarter; five great-grandchildren, Brian and Andrea Trass, Patrick and Shelby McCann and Schuyler Delamarter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marjorie was predeceased by one sister, Margaret Groves; and one brother, LeRoy Philip Schulz.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 17, 1999, at 1:30 p.m., at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Melvin Farmer, pastor of the River Street Baptist Church of Oneonta, officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Meridale.

The family will be present at the Bookhout Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 16, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m. for those who wish may call.

It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to either the SPCA, care of Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals-Hyde Park, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326 or to the Meridale Fire Department, Meridale, N.Y. 13806 in loving memory of Marjorie E. Delamarter.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

Anita D. Beach
SCHENEVUS — Anita D. Beach, 88, of Schenevus, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at her residence.

She was born May 1, 1911, in Ossining, the daughter of Edward and Josephine (Rutledge) Woods.

She was educated in the Ossining School District. She lived in Ossining until 1928, when she moved to Woodhaven, Long Island.

Anita married George Kelly in Bellaire, Md., in 1929. She lived on Long Island until coming to Schenevus, at which time she married Barthly L. Beach in Cherry Valley in 1951.

Anita helped her husband with dairy farming and later bacame the manager of Barthly Beach Milk Distributors. They sold whole milk and milk products to stores and schools.

After selling their milk business, she obtained a New York state real-estate salesman license and helped with her husband's business, Beach Affiliates who sold Northern Homes. Later she retired to home life.

She loved bird watching, flowers, gardening, organ music and cooking.

Anita was a past member of the Schenevus Valley Grange, Eastern Milk Producer Association and the Huntington Library. She was a present member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Schenevus.

Anita is survived by a daughter, Betty Ann Martin of Brick, N.J.; a son, George R. Kelly of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by both of her husbands.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, June 17, 1999, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Schenevus, with the Rev. Crandall as the celebrant. Burial will follow at the Elk Creek Cemetery, Elk Creek.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 16, 1999, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. with the family in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heller Funeral Home, 10 Arch St., Schenevus. A recital of the Rosary will be held at 8 p.m.

Contributions may be made in loving memory of Anita to Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820 or St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Schenevus, N.Y. 12155.

Funeral arrangements are by the Heller Funeral Home, 10 Arch St., Schenevus.

Kenneth H. Clow Sr.
HOBART — Mr. Kenneth Henry Clow Sr., 72, of Hobart, died Friday evening, June 11, 1999, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born March 11, 1927, in Lawyersville, the son of William and Jane Wilday Clow.

Ken married the former Dorothy Swart on May 18, 1969, in Stamford, who survives.

He was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country from 1945-1948.

Ken worked for the Department of Public Works in the village of Cobleskill until 1972, when he became disabled.

He and his wife, Dorothy, have been residents of Hobart for the past three years and before that had been a resident of Stamford and the Cobleskill areas for most of his life.

Ken was a member of the Stamford United Methodist Church and was a member of the Cobleskill and Huntersland Fire Departments for more than 20 years.

His favorite pastime was playing bingo.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Dorothy Clow of Hobart; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Laurie Clow Jr. of Laurens; two daughters, Linda L. Clow of Stamford and Brenda Jean Lane of Kingston; one brother, William Clow of Windham; one sister, Goldia McWilliams of Carthage; his mother-in-law, Jennie Place of Stamford; seven grandchildren, Shawn Clow, Keisha Clow, Felicia Clow, Eric Clow, Brittany Chanta Clow, Jonathan Matthew Place and Justin Michael Light; and one great-grandchild, Megan Faulkner.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Elliott Oakes officiating. Burial will be in Laurens Cemetery, Laurens.

Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, on Tuesday evening, June 15, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m. when the family will be present.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

Mary H. Huxtable
LATHAM — Mary H. Huxtable, 86, of 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, formerly of the town of Richfield, died on Sunday, June 13, 1999, in Our Lady of Hope Residence, Latham.

She was born on Feb. 13, 1913, in Ilion, daughter of the late John and Johanna Horigan Harvey.

Mary's early years were spent in the West Winfield area. Upon completion of high school, she went on to graduate from the Utica School of Commerce.

On Nov. 5, 1934, she married Arthur Young Huxtable in West Winfield, a devoted union of 38 years until his passing on April 11, 1973.

The thrust of her life was spent caring for her family of eight children and helping her husband with his dairy farm operation.

Mary is survived by three sons, William H. and his wife, Katherine Huxtable, of Richfield Springs, Edward A. Huxtable of Cedarville and John A. and his wife, Margaret Huxtable, of Arlington, Va.; two daughters, Hope and her husband, Patrick Brady, of Loudonville and Mary Jo and her husband, Thomas Chenel, of Richfield Springs; one brother, Edward E. Harvey of Yorkville; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her husband, Arthur, she was preceded in death by three sons, James E., Jerrold W. and Arthur Y. Huxtable III.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at 10 a.m. in Saint Joseph's Church, West Winfield, with the Rev. Terrance Healy, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, West Winfield. Calling hours will be Tuesday (today) from 7 to 9 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs.

Memorial donations may be made to the Our Lady of Hope Residence, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham, N.Y. 12110. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

LeRoy E. Boynton
COLLIERSVILLE — Mr. LeRoy E. Boynton, 78, of Shady Acres Trailer Park, Colliersville, died Saturday, June 12, 1999, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.

He was born July 21, 1920, in Knox, the son of Claude and Eileen (Crowe) Boynton.

He was married to the former Bettye McIntosh on Dec. 30, 1941, in Lanesboro, Pa. She died on March 14, 1987.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II.

LeRoy was a meat cutter for the State University College at Oneonta Ancillary Services, before his retirement and at one time cut meat for several area stores.

He had been a member of the Oneonta Eagles Club and the Oneonta and Crumhorn Rod and Gun Club.

LeRoy is survived by a close and dear friend, Pauline Mattice; two daughters and their husbands, Montie and Richard Sauveur of Morseville, N.C., and Nancy and Richard Young Sr. of Colliersville; his mother-in-law, Isabelle McIntosh of Cooperstown; four grandchildren and their spouses, Timothy and Maureen Sauveur of Stamford, Tami and Paul Myers of North Carolina, Richard Young Jr. of Colliersville and Michelle Young of Altoona, Pa.; two great-grandchildren, Paul and Shyanne Myers.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 18, 1999, from the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta with the Rev. Wiliam D. Bouton, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Oneonta, officiating. Mr. Boynton will be cremated and his cremains buried later at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.

Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 17, 1999, when the family will be present at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

Lena B. Poss
AFTON — Lena B. Poss, 69, of Afton, passed away Monday, June 14, 1999, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

She was born to the late Anthony and Belle (Rosa) Yeager in DeLancey, on Dec. 31, 1929.

Lena married Walter Poss on Jan. 6, 1979, in Bainbridge.

She was a teller and a manager for NBT of Sidney and Bainbridge, until she retired in 1989.

Lena is survived by her husband, Walter Poss of Afton; her son, Charles Horton of Unadilla; three daughters, Betty Hovey, Sandra Zorda and Bonnie Peletz, all of Bainbridge; five brothers, Ted, Harold, Richard, Larry and Roger Yeager; eight sisters, Esther May, Ethel Sheldon, Betty Logan, Mary Gohl, Joyce Sprunger, JoAnn Crosby, Rita Cutting and Patty Davie; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-granchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two daughters, Debra Eggelston and Chyrl Beach; and a brother, Wesley Yeager.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 19, 1999, at 11 a.m. in Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Afton Emergency Squad.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers, Inc., Sidney.

Martin Field
WALDO, Fla. — Mr. Martin Field, 75, formerly of Cherry Valley, N.Y., passed away Saturday, June 12, 1999, in Gainsville, Fla.

He was born Feb. 8, 1924, in Mount Vision, N.Y., the son of Ossian and Vera (Smith) Field.

On March 16, 1968, he married Glenna Esolen in Cherry Valley.

Mr. Field served in the United States Navy during World War II. He had worked for the village of Cherry Valley, and was the town of Cherry Valley superintendent of highways for more than 10 years before retiring.

He was a member of the Cherry Valley Fire Department, Cherry Valley, a member of Southern Tier Engine Association, the New York State Steam and Engine Club, the Catskill Mountain Engine Club and the Northeast Florida Antiques Engine Club.

Mr. Field is survived by his wife, Glenna Field of Waldo, Fla.; two sons, Martin Field Jr. of Cherry Valley and Elmer Field of Palatine Bridge, N.Y.; two daughters, Rosemary Reese of Canajoharie, N.Y., and Diane Field of Cherry Valley; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Ossian Field of Cleveland, Ohio; and a sister, Beatrice Mizerak of Central Bridge, N.Y.

He was predeceased by a son, William Field.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 18, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with Mr. Lyman  Johnson officiating.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 17, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m., with a firemen service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cherry Valley Fire Department or the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Dorothy C. Brabant
STAMFORD — Dorothy C. Brabant, 91, formerly of 41 Prospect St., Stamford, died Monday, June 14, 1999, at Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville, where she had been residing for the past 3½ years.

She was born June 26, 1907, in Brooklyn, the daughter of William and Louisa (Grossert) Fey.

She married Lawrence O. Brabant on Sept. 4, 1932, at St. Albans, L.I. Mr. Brabant died Aug. 3, 1986.

A resident of Stamford since 1984, Dorothy previously had been a longtime Queens Village resident. Before her health declined she had been active in the Stamford Senior Citizens.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Janice Brabant of Prattsville; two grandchildren, Robert W. Brabant, U.S. Air Force Mountain Home, Idaho, and Laurel Giammichele of Binghamton; and two great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services with burial following will be conducted on Thursday, June 17, 1999, by the Rev. Ellen Oliveto, pastor of the Prattsville United Methodist Church.

There are no calling hours.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the R.A. Robinson Rescue Squad, Stamford.

Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, Stamford and Grand Gorge.

James Singmaster Jr.
BAINBRIDGE — Memorial services for James A. Singmaster Jr. of Bainbridge will be held on Saturday, June 19, 1999, at 2:30 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326 or the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., New York, N.Y. 10021.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers, Inc., Sidney.

Margaret Whittaker
DELANCEY — Mrs. Margaret A. Whittaker, 86, of DeLancey, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at Albany Medical Center, Albany.

She was born May 11, 1913, in Holmes Hollow, town of Delhi, the daughter of James and Isabelle (Robinson) Aitken.

She married Albert V. Whittaker on Feb. 9, 1939, in Delhi.

Margaret was the second-longest member of the DeLancey United Presbyterian Church. She at one time was a Sunday school teacher and took care of the church. She worked tirelessly on the farm with her husband for 30 years.

She raised four wonderful children without complaint. She had a special relationship with her grand and great-grandchildren. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and made sure that the needy were helped.

Margaret will be remembered for her cooking and flowers. She was a very patient and special woman who had a love for her community and church. She will be greatly missed by all.

She was a member of the Garden Club, the Women's Missionary Association and the Hamden Senior Citizen's Group.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Albert V.; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Thomas Powers of Saratoga; three sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Cynthia Whittaker of East Meredith, Kenneth Whittaker of Delhi and Joseph and Janice Whittaker of DeLancey; one brother, James Aitken of Delhi; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret was predeceased by one grandson, Richard Powers.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 18, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the DeLancey United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. H. Leigh Holder-Bobo officiating. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.

The family will be present at the Lyon Bros.-Way Chapel on Thursday, June 17, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m. for those who wish may call.

It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the DeLancey United Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund in loving memory of Margaret A. Whittaker.

Roy R. Patrick
ARKVILLE — Roy R. Patrick, 79, of Todd Mountain Road, Arkville, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at Albany Medical Center, Albany.

He was born Oct. 4, 1919, in Middleville, Ohio, the son of John Patrick and Dolly Mae Massey.

He married Imogene Miller on Feb. 13, 1941, in Ohio. She died Jan. 4, 1996.

He served in World War II in the Army from 1942-1946. He took part in the Battle of the Bulge and also served in Normandy.

He was a retired alarm superintendent of the Hartsdale Fire Department, Hartsdale. He retired in 1973, after working for the department for 25 years.

He moved to Arkville in 1974.

He was a member of the Middletown American Legion Post 216, the NRA, the Tompkins Hollow Hunting Club and the Westchester Pistol Association.

Roy is survived by a son, Lawrence Patrick of Owego; daughter, Arline Menendez of Yonkers; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alfred Patrick of Xeina, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held Friday, June 18, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, with the Rev. Dr. George Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in the Margaretville Cemetery, Margaretville.

Calling hours will be Thursday, June 17, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, June 18, from 1 p.m. until the service time at the Hynes Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Charles A. Newell Jr.
GREENACRES, Fla. — Charles A. Newell Jr., 76, of Greenacres, Fla., and formerly of Cooperstown, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 1999.

Mr. Newell served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He was a former member of the Civil Defence in Cooperstown and was a volunteer fireman at many communities in the Cooperstown area. He was a member of the telephone pioneers, many civic organizations and an avid Ham Radio operator, his call letters were K2GNZ. He was a member of PBRA, WPBARC, ARES and RACES. He was also past president of the Amature Radio Club of the V.A. Medical Center.

Charles is survived by his wife, Patricia Lennebecker Newell; his son, Charles Newell III; daughter, Darshan Fresco; brother, Roger Newell; four sisters, Imy Carter, Noreen Newell, Billie Williams and Marge Strait; and four grandchildren, Kathie, Robert, Kira and Kaleena.

He was predeceased by a brother, Donald.

Memorial services were held Monday, June 14, 1999, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center Chapel, Riviera Beach, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to the V.A. Medical Center or the American Heart Fund.

Funeral arrangements were by the Dorsey Funeral Home, 3525 S. Congress Ave., Lake Worth, Fla. 33461.
