Roman was loved by his family, staff members and friends at the Upstate Homes for Children and Adults, Inc. He had a keen and dry sense of humor and loved all things chocolate. He loved looking good and being told how handsome he was.

Roman enjoyed riding his Kawasaki 4-wheeler — watching the wheels move, trying to run into the fence and staff on his way. He was a mischievous young man who thought it was funny when he wasn't the one in trouble. He liked playing his Casio, playing in the water, playing with toys that spin and make lots of noise. He liked looking at how things worked, playing with tools, squeezing his chitter bug, and swinging. Roman also enjoyed his solitude.

He was also an observer of life who made very particular choices. Roman progressed from being cocooned in a shell, hiding from the world, to being free and at peace, reaching out to those he loved and wanted around him.

Roman was an adored child who touched the hearts of those who knew him. Roman will be remembered for his beautiful smile and his gentle yet strong character. Roman wanted the best of everything and accepted nothing less. He had a life and a presence and was able to express that to others. Roman, a fragile young man who was small in stature, through his life demonstrated an ability to fight with every ounce of his being. He will be missed dearly,

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at noon at the Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home located in New Bedford, Mass. His burial will occur immediately following the funeral service.
