Doris Benney Seward, 101, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006 at Mercy Healthcare Center in Tupper Lake where she has resided for the past five years. Born March 2, 1905, she was the daughter of William Mably Benney and Pauline Search Benney. Mrs. Seward graduated from Huntington High School and Pratt Institute. She married W. Saxton Seward, a patent lawyer with the family firm Brown & Seward, on Sept. 16, 1933 at her home in Cold Spring Harbor. Mr. and Mrs. Seward lived in Brooklyn Heights before moving to Summit, N.J. to raise their family. Mrs. Seward began a career in decorating, primarily with major department stores in New York City. She loved classical music, ballroom dancing and sailing with her husband. Both she and Mr. Seward shared great pleasure in hosting guests and entertaining in their home wherever they lived. A consummate volunteer, Mrs. Seward generously offered her artistic talents and energy to produce creative decor and floral arrangments. She had an unfailing craving for updates on all family and friends, many of whom gathered from near and far for her latest birthdays. She was tickled when from over the air waves Willard Scott wished her a Happy 100th in 2005. She is survived by a sister, Jean B.  Jones of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Douglas M.
