Joseph Moore Jr.

SIDNEY — Joseph M. Moore Jr., 89, of Sidney passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at home.

He was born May 24, 1910, to Joseph M. and Elizabeth Roberts Moore Sr. in Unadilla.

Joe married Genevieve Fical on Sept. 5, 1936, in Sidney, she predeceased him on April 5, 1999.

He was employed as product support manager for E.C.D. of Bendix, Sidney, until May 1975.

Joe was a member of the First Congregational Church, Sidney, and of the Sidney Golf and Country Club.

Joe is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Terry and David Palmatier of Sidney; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Marilyn Moore of Brookfield, Wis.; sister, Elizabeth Maxson of Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren, Tamara Gough, Tracy and Brian Glover and their son, Christian, Christopher and Lori Moore who are expecting a great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held today at C.H. Landers Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Roanne MacEwan, pastor of the Congregational Church, Sidney, officiating.

The family will be in attendance at 11 a.m. today to receive friends.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice, the Delaware County Humane Society or the Sidney Emergency Squad.

Arrangements are by C.H. Landers Inc., Sidney.

Mary A. Gallucci

ONEONTA — Mary A. (Mancuso) Gallucci, 91, of Oneonta died Friday evening, April 21, 2000, at the Oneonta Nursing Home.

She was born April 18, 1909, in Oneonta, the daughter of Joseph and Carmella Bianca.

She married John Mancuso on Oct. 28, 1925, in Oneonta. He died on April 27, 1982. In 1988, she married Stephen Gallucci, who died on March 29, 1996.

From 1949 to 1964, she and her husband, John, were proprietors of the Chestnut Street Liquor Store. Prior to that they operated Mancuso's Tavern on South Main Street.

Mary was a member of St. Mary's Church, its Rosary Society, and its Young at Heart group. She was also a member of the Italian American Club.

At one time, she was a member of the Wilber Bank Board of Directors.

Mary is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by five brothers, Frank Lombardo of Brooklyn, Peter and Joseph Bianca of Albany, and Anthony and Sam Beang of Buffalo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

Friends may call Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m., at which time the family will be in attendance.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's School Building Fund.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Harland Mullineaux

VESTAL — Harland W. Mullineaux, 78, of Vestal and formerly of Unadilla died Friday, April 14, 2000, at his residence.

He was born May 7, 1921, in the town of Tompkins, the son of John and Inez (Gillette) Mullineaux.

He was married to Ruth Galley on Sept. 5, 1942, in Sidney Center. Mrs. Mullineaux died July 11, 1996.

Mr. Mullineaux was a former resident of Unadilla, and was a retired employee of the Amphenol Corp. in Sidney. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local #1529 of Sidney.

Mr. Mullineaux is survived by his daughter, Jeanne Mullineaux of Chenango Bridge.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2000, in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla, with the Rev. Michael Peck, pastor of the Central Baptist Church, Binghamton, officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

Sophie B. Archer

RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Sophie B. Archer, 87, of Walnut Street, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, April 23, 2000, in her home with her loving family at her side.

She was born on Dec. 4, 1912, in the town of Middlefield, a daughter of the late William and Rose Janiec Bibik.

Sophie was raised in Richfield Springs and graduated from Richfield Springs High School. She then went on to Cornell University where she had graduated with the Class of 1935 with a bachelor's degree in dietary planning.

On July 23, 1938, she married George E. Archer in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs — a blessed union of 42 years until his passing on Aug. 9, 1980. She and her husband moved to Richfield Springs in 1947, coming here from Wilson, Conn. It was that year they purchased the Chef Diner on West Main Street and ran it until their retirement in 1977.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs, the Rosary Altar Society of the Church, and for several years was a Girl Scout Leader.

Surviving her are a daughter, Barbara, and her husband, Thomas Bates, of Richfield Springs; three brothers, Benjamin Bibik of Schuyler Lake, Vincent and his wife, Katherine Bibik, of Fayetteville, and Harold Bibik of Rome; four sisters, Frances and her husband, Robert Newsome, of Richmond, Va., Mary and her husband, James Andrecheck, of South Columbia, Elizabeth Eaton of Schoharie and Josephine Bibik of Richmond, Va.; one grandson, Russell Bloomfield of Leominster, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Collier of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, George, she was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Stanley Bibik; and a sister, Anna Maxwell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs, with the Rev. Terrance Healy officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to the Richfield Springs Rescue Squad, the Catskill Area Hospice or the West Winfield Fire Department Rescue Squad.

Funeral arrangements are with the J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs.

Oscar J. Cleaver

DELHI — Oscar J. Cleaver of Delhi died on Friday, April 21, 2000, at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born in Colchester on May 20, 1910. His parents were Robert and Josephine (Scoville) Cleaver. He was the oldest of 13 children.

Six have predeceased him, Robert (Max) of Norwich, Lena (Lee) McKnight of Liberty, Margaret (died as an infant), Addy Kultz and Betty Howe of Sidney and Mary Wescott of Franklin.

Surviving are George of Walton, Donald of Unadilla, Glenna Sawdy of Bainbridge, Rotha Scherer of Franklin/Walton, Mildred Beard of  Texas and Franklin Cleaver. Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Richard DuMond Sr.; three grandchildren, Dawn Davis and Dick DuMond Jr. of Walton and Jeffrey DuMond of California; three great-grandchildren, Scott and Tyler Davis and Lindsay DuMond; and several nieces and nephews.

Oscar served in the 11th Cavalry Army.

He was a member of the C.J. Fullman American Legion Post 92 of Waterville and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge 625, Delhi. He was a fireman on the old O&W Railroad for 28 years and was a member of the Locomotive and Fireman's Engine Co. He was a civil servant for the New York State Department of Transportation for 10 years, working on the roads and building and repairing bridges in New York. His ancestors were from the Mohawk Tribes.

Graveside services will be held at the Carroll Cemetery in Trout Creek on Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Delbert Ripley, pastor of the Northfield Community Church, officiating.

There are no prior calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association or the Blind Association in the name of Oscar J. Cleaver.

Funeral arrangements are by Lyon Bros.-Way Inc. Funeral Home, corner of North and Delaware streets, Walton.

John W. Felter

SIDNEY — John W. Felter, 74, of Sidney, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2000, at his home.

He was born July 22, 1925, in Oneonta, to Stanley and Frances Atwood Felter.

John served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II from 1943-1945.

He married Anna P. Beang on June 7, 1953, in Oneonta.

John was employed by E.C.D. of Bendix as a sales expediter when he retired in 1982.

He was a member of American Legion Post #183 Sidney.

John is survived by his wife, Anna. P. Felter of Sidney; daughters, Pamela S. Felter of New York, N.Y., Mary F. DiDio of West Babylon, Kim Canarelli of New Berlin and Colleen Felter of Sidney; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Canarelli of Lancaster, Pa.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at C.H. Landers Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Fr. Gordon Polenz, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Sidney, officiating.

Friends may call Tuesday, April 25, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.

Arrangements by C.H. Landers Inc., Sidney.

Richard H. Guile

PITTSFIELD — Richard H. Guile, 70, of Pittsfield, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, in Norwich.

He was born Feb. 28, 1930, in the town of Pittsfield, the son of Henry and Margaret (Cole) Guile.

Richard is survived by one sister, Mrs. Caroline Chambers of New Jersey; nieces and nephews, Luke and Jeanette Cotter, Peter Cotter and Jennifer and John Wilcox; and grandnieces and -nephews, Nicole, Ryan and Marissa Cotter.

He was predeceased by one sister, Ola Cotter in 1995.

He was a machinist for Alliance Tool & Dye of Rochester.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at 1 p.m. at the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin, with the Rev. Beverly Butler, of the First United Methodist Church, New Berlin, officiating.

Interment in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 25, 2000, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin.

Kathryn G. Nagy

WALTON — Kathryn G. Nagy, 82, of Walton, died Saturday, April 22 in Binghamton.

She was born March 7, 1918, in Masontown, Pa., the daughter of the late William and Isabelle Harbison.

She married Louis Nagy on March 2, 1974, in Davenport.

Mrs. Nagy worked at Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage, Long Island, for 12 years in personal records and also Opportunities for Otsego, Cooperstown, and as HUD coordinator and payroll clerk.

Surviving are her husband, Louis Nagy of Walton; two sons, Damon Neroni of Rices Landing, Pa., and Delmont Neroni of Providence, R.I.; a daughter, Betty Neroni of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Jack Harbison of Charlestown, S.C.; a sister, Betty Shoemaker of Falls Church, Va.; and six grandchildren, Hilary McGowan, Damon Neroni, David De Weese, Mark Neroni, Matthew Neroni and Keith Neroni.

She was predeceased by a brother, Bill Harbison.

Mrs. Nagy attended the Sidney Assembly of God Church for many years, then for the past few years attended the Trout Creek Community Church.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 27, at C.H. Landers Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Gatje, pastor of the Trout Creek Community Church, officiating.

Friends may call Wednesday, April 26 from 7-9 p.m.

Burial will be in Green County Memorial Park, Waynesburgh, Pa., on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trout Creek Community Church.

Arrangements are by C.H. Landers Inc., Sidney.

Alma M. McMurren

MARGARETVILLE — Alma M. McMurren, 81, of Margaretville, died April 24, 2000 at Margaretville Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 10, 1919, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Louis Zanotti and Louisa Tolotti.

She married James F. McMurren on Sept. 28, 1947, in Brooklyn. He died Oct. 2, 1980.

She was a private secretary for B.F. Collier Corp. and Son of New York City, book publisher.

She lived in Margaretville since August 1973.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish and American Legion Auxiliary, a lector and Eucharist minister and assistant Girl Scout leader in Brooklyn and was a member of the Denver-Vega Pinochle Club.

She is survived by two sisters, Ida Meyer of Brooklyn and Mildred Zino of Hackets Town, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be Thursday, April 27, 2000, at 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church in Margaretville with the Very Rev. Robert H. Purcell officiating.

Burial will be at the Margaretville Cemetery, Margaretville.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Contributions in memory of Alma may be made to the Sacred Heart Church Memorial Fund or the Memorial Fund of Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville.

Arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Larry Hadden

DELHI — Lawrence E. "Larry" Hadden, 80, of Inverness, Fla., formerly of Delhi, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness.

He was born April 29, 1919, in Brooklyn, the son of Roy E. and Josephine M. (Krobatsch) Hadden, and married Florence L. Oswald on Aug. 16, 1941, in East Rutherford, N.J. She died Sept. 8, 1994.

A longtime Delaware County resident, Larry lived in the Margaretville-Roxbury area for 20 years before moving to Delhi in 1969 where he was employed on the custodial staff at Delaware Academy until his retirement in 1987.

He moved to Florida in 1997.

Surviving are three sons, Ronald L. Hadden of Starrucca, Pa., David R. Hadden of Salisbury, N.C., and Gary A. Hadden of Inverness, Fla.; twin daughters, Jean L. Oliver of Inverness, Fla., and Joan L. Cash of Delhi; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, April 28, at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home where the family will be in attendance after noon and services will be conducted at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Bert More.

Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.

Contributions may be made to the Delhi Emergency Squad.

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi.
