Agnes M. Goodman

DELHI — Agnes M. Goodman, 94, a lifelong Delhi resident, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at Skywold Manor, Meredith Square.

She was born Oct. 23, 1905, at Tanglewood Lake, Delhi, the daughter of Benjamin A. and Anna (Liddle) Goodman, graduating from Delaware Academy and subsequently Albany Business College.

During her younger years, "Aggie" was active on women's basketball teams and roller skating as well as league bowling well into her later life, for which she was given recognition by the Delaware-Greene Women's Bowling Association.

A bookkeeper by profession, for more than 50 years, she was employed by the late William Mable, proprietor of the former Archibald's Garage and Arco Oil Co. until her retirement.

A life member of the First Presbyterian Church and its senior Campanile Bell Choir, she was also active in the Delhi Senior Citizens.

She was predeceased by her stepmother, Mabel Edwards Goodman, who raised her from early childhood; and a sister, G. Pauline LaRue.

In addition to several cousins, she is also survived by her close personal friends, including Margaret Porter, Sally Waring, Charlotte Waring, Merilyn and Fred Sargent and Helen Roach and their families.

Friends are invited to call Sunday at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, by her pastor, the Rev. Arvid Whitmore, with burial following in the Woodland Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi.

Frank Doroski

KEANSBURG, N.J. — Frank Doroski, 92, of Keansburg, N.J., died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.

He was a carpenter before retiring in 1981. He also worked for Sheffield Creamery in Stamford, N.Y., for many years.

Born in Kortright, N.Y., he lived in Stamford before moving to Keansburg in 1981.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Rose Marscholik Doroski; two daughters, Clara Hulak of West Keansburg, Hazlet and Dolores Miller of Stamford; a brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Blanch of Davenport, N.Y.; a sister, Sophie Kosier of Florida; three granddaughters, Joy Marie Mintler of Florida, Tammy Mintler of Arizona and Mary Ann Wilson of Belford, Middletown; and four great-grandsons, Ryan Miller, Mark Petty and Joseph Jr. and Daniel Hulak. A grandson, Joseph Hulak, Sr., died in 1992.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals in Keansburg. A private cremation followed.

Louie C. Boyd Sr.

FLY CREEK — Mr. Louie Charles Boyd Sr., 83, of Fly Creek died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at Bassett Healthcare.

Louie was born in Franklin on July 1, 1917, a son of Earl and Emily (Wainwright) Boyd.

Louie graduated from Oneonta High School in the Class of 1936.

On April 28, 1941, he married Dorothy Harrison in Chenango Bridge.

He moved to Cooperstown and worked at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital for several years, where he acquired his skills as a chef and then became a chef at the Cooper Inn for 11 years. Louie then was the chef at the Ft. Schuyler Club in Utica for 25 years until his retirement.

Louie has resided in Fly Creek Valley for the past 52 years where he is well renowned for his catering, his trademark chicken barbecues and his church dinners.

He was past president of the Cooperstown Fish and Game Club and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

His hobbies included guns, clocks and after his retirement, carpentry and furniture making.

Louie is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy; two daughters, Bonnie Lou and her husband, Stuart Sharpe, of Littleton, Mass., and Elizabeth J. Okerson of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons and daughters-in-law, William V. and Rita Boyd of Ramona,  Calif., and Louie C. Boyd Jr. (Spike) and Joyce of Fly Creek; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a niece, Mae Robertson of Springfield Center.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home in Cooperstown, with the Rev. Eileen Cornwell, pastor of the Fly Creek United Methodist Church, officiating.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home in Cooperstown, when the family will be in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions may be made to the Louis Busch Hager Cancer Treatment Center at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, or to the American Heart Association, Otsego County Branch, P.O. Box 315, Oneonta, N.Y. 13820 or to the Fly Creek United Methodist Church, Fly Creek, N.Y. 13337.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Mary Cebula

WATERVLIET — Mary Bielawa Cebula, 91, of 24th Street, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy.

Born in Green Island on Feb. 6, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rosalie Suchecka Bielawa.

Mrs. Bielawa was raised in Latham and resided in Troy earlier in her marriage before moving to Watervliet, where she was a resident for over 70 years.

She was employed as a presser at Cluett Peabody & Co. in Troy and later by the Model Shirt Company in Troy, from which she retired at the age of 62.

She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Watervliet.

She was the widow of the late Stephen Cebula, beloved mother of the late Joseph S. Cebula of Watervliet who died July 19, 2000, mother-in-law of Marie R. Lefebvre Cebula of Watervliet, proud grandmother of the Rev. Joseph S. Cebula Jr., pastor of Sacred Heart Parish Community in Stamford, Denise Dudash and her husband, Stephen, of Duxbury, Mass., George P. Cebula and his wife, Colleen, of Bailey,  Colo., Stephen L. Cebula of Watervliet and Michele Fera and her husband, Michael, of Colonie; loving sister of Stephen Bielawa of Watervliet, Helen O'Konsky of Clifton Park, Anna Maslanka of Troy, Frances Kulka of Latham and the late Joseph Bielawa, William Bielawa and Julia Sturgeon. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, and at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Watervliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated with her grandson, Fr. Cebula, as principal celebrant. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, 2420 7th Avenue, Watervliet, N.Y. 12189 or to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, N.Y. 12144.

Deborah L. Keator

MARGARETVILLE — Deborah Lynne Keator, 46, of Margaretville, died unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, after a short illness at the Margaretville Memorial Hospital, where she was employed as a laundry aide for 27 years.

Debbie was born Aug. 29, 1954, at Fort Carson Army Hospital in Colorado Springs,  Colo., the daughter of F. Linn and Loretta Rappleyea Keator.

Debbie was an active member of the Margaretville Presbyterian Church and the New Kingston Valley Grange, where she held an office in the graces as Pomona.

She enjoyed collecting dolls and stuffed bears, and was an avid fan of Randy Travis, whom she had met personally. She also enjoyed reading.

She is survived by her mother and father of Margaretville; one sister, Glenda Ramp of Sidney; one brother, Bradford, and his wife, Lynn, of Kelly Corners; three nieces, Karla Ramp, Rebeka Keator and Sarah Keator; three nephews, Derek Ramp, Ezekiel Keator and Isaiah Keator; a grandmother, Viena Rappleyea of Cobleskill; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, at the United Presbyterian Church, Margaretville, with the Rev. Richard Dykstra and Diane Wickham officiating.

Viewing at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be at Sanford Cemetery, Margaretville.

If desired, contributions in Debbie's memory can be made to the Memorial Fund of the Margaretville Memorial Hospital, Margaretville.

Samantha Williams

ONEONTA — Tanya Perry and Kenneth Williams of Oneonta mourn the loss of their infant daughter, Samantha Leigh Williams, who passed away on Friday, Sept. 22, 2000.

Besides her mother and father, Samantha is survived by her twin sister, Sabrina Williams; two brothers, George Anthony Williams and Kenneth Edward Williams Jr. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Bonnie Perry of Herkimer; and her paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Williams of Oneonta; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service that will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at 10 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N.  Washington St., Herkimer.

Leon Floyd Hatch

COOPERSTOWN — Leon Floyd Hatch, 88, of Cooperstown, passed away, Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at home.

Leon was born March 25, 1912, in Constableville, the son of William and Esther Nyland Hatch.

Mr. Hatch was predeceased by his first wife, Nina Scouten Hatch, in 1981.

In 1983, he married Thelma Swafford McKelvey at St. Joseph's Church, Cooperstown.

Leon was a self-employed farmer and was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving, besides his wife, Thelma; are a sister; Ethel Weatley of Canajoharie; cousins, Frank and Evelyn Clemons of Castorland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. at the Surridge & Roberts Funeral Homes, 40 Main St., Whitesboro. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours are one hour before the funeral service.

Ellamae Harrer

GOODYEAR LAKE — Ellamae Harrer, 89, of Maryland, N.Y., died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, while on vacation with her two daughters at Alexandria Bay.

She was born Oct. 12, 1910, in Schenectady, the daughter of George and Ella (Roberts) Fountain.

She married Clifford J. Harrer on July 30, 1930, at the Episcopal Church in Clayton. Mr. Harrer predeceased her on April 10, 1997.

Ellamae had a love for gardening, flowers and birds.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church of Oneonta, the Martha Chapter Order of Eastern Star, the Oneonta Woman's Club, the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, as well as a member of the Oneonta Garden Club.

She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Janet and John C.  Jones of Southboro, Mass., and Beverly Olive of Goodyear Lake; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Audrey Fountain of New Hartford; five granddaughters; three grandsons; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, Oneonta, with the Rev. Richard Frye officiating. Burial will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.

The family will receive friends at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, on Tuesday evening, Sept. 26, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. for those who wish may call.

It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to either the Shriners Burn Institute for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, Mass. 02114 or to the SPCA, Hyde Park, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326 in loving memory of Ellamae Harrer.

Funeral arrangements are by Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Valentine Delaunay

ONEONTA — Valentine S. Delaunay, 88, of Oneonta, died peacefully with his family at his side, on Sunday evening, Sept. 24, 2000, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born Feb. 18, 1912, in the Bronx, the son of Wilbur and Anna Delaunay.

He was married to Muriel Dinnen, who predeceased him.

In 1983, he married Ruth (Liedke) Lemieux.

He worked for MABSTOA as a bus driver in the Bronx, retiring in 1971 with 38 years of service.

Val was a member of St. Mary's Church and its Young at Heart Club. He was also a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Stamford and an officer in the Aviation Volunteer Fire Department of the Bronx.

He is survived by his children, Alma DeLuise Perkins of Milford, Stephen Delaunay of Old Bridge, N.J., Dee Ouimet of Scotia, Elizabeth Collins of Scotia, Sharlene Reploeg of Richmondville, Claudia LeVeille of Otego and Mark Lemieux of Schenectady; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta, with the Rev. Paul Roman, pastor of St. Mary's Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday until service time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are with the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Ralph D. Theall

SMITHVILLE, N.J. — Ralph D. Theall, 72, of Smithville, N.J., died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at his home.

He was born in New York City and lived in the Westchester area for many years before moving to Smithville.

He was a retired accountant for Pfizer Pharmaceutical Co.

He was a volunteer fireman for the Deptford Hills, N.Y., Fire Department.

He was a member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Louise nee Snyder Theall; a son, Donald; a daughter and her husband, Denise Theall and Keith Levitt; and a brother, Donald Theall, of Morris, N.Y.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel in the Bronx.

Arrangements are by Parsels Funeral Home, Absecon, N.J.

Virginia J. Noble

WHITESBORO — Virginia J. Noble, 82, of Whitesboro, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000.

She was born in Oneonta. She lived in Faxton, and she was formerly of Lakeland, Fla.

She worked for Bendix Corp., Sidney, and retired in 1978.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Noble, in 1986.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Constance (Mrs. Gordon) Gale of Maryland and Elizabeth (Mrs. Thomas) LaSalle of Whitesboro; five sisters, Margaret Waring of Maryland, Patricia Blakeslee of Maryland, Priscilla Paul of Schenectady, Barbara Crandell of Lakeland, Fla., and Nancy Ellsworth of Venice, Fla.; seven grandsons; six great-grandsons; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Burial will be in Lakeland Memorial Park, Lakeland, Fla.

There are no calling hours.

Arrangements are by the Hollis Funeral Home, Syracuse.

Shirley C. Bouse

KENT, Wash. — Shirley Coddington Bouse, 75, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at the home of her son, Roger Hardy, in Kent, Wash., where she has resided since April 2000.

A longtime resident of San Diego,  Calif., in recent years she spent considerable time in Unadilla, N.Y.

Born July 23, 1925, in the town of Sidney, Delaware County, N.Y., Shirley was the daughter of Harold W. and Bessie Cornell Coddington.

She was married in 1945 to Thomas C. Hardy, who died in 1960. In 1964, she married Frank W. Bouse, who died in 1992.

Shirley and her husband, Frank, owned and operated their own business, Paragon Design Co., which was a publishing company, for many years.

Surviving is her son, Roger Hardy, and his wife, Carole, of Kent, Wash.; a daughter, Judy Hanchett, and her husband, Tom, of San Diego,  Calif.; and four grandchildren, Heather, Ryan and Shaun Hardy and Angie Hanchett. She also is survived by two sisters, Beatrice Ireland of Unadilla and Mildred Bonesteel of Bainbridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Shewas predeceased by a sister, Eva Goebig of Newberry, Mich.

A memorial service will be held at the George  Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J., on Oct. 21, 2000.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Providence Hospice of Seattle, 425 Pontius Ave. N-Suite 300, Seattle, Wash. 98129-5452 or to the American Cancer Society.
