Doris Hallock

STAMFORD — Doris Hallock, 73, of Stamford, N.Y., died Oct. 14, 2000, at Robinson Terrace, Stamford.

She was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Hobart, N.Y., the daughter of Oscar and Gladys (Hessberger) Gulnick.

She married Pershing Hallock, Nov. 17, 1951, in Grand Gorge.

He survives, as do three daughters, Kim Hallock of Stamford and Sharon Hogan and Virginia Conine, both of Roxbury, N.Y.

Mrs. Hallock was a lifelong area resident, graduating from South Kortright Central School.

She loved to fish and created lovely projects with her knitting.

Graveside services will take place today, Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at 1:30 p.m. in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart, with the Rev. Elliot Oakes officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Catskill Area Hospice or to the Robinson Terrace Activity Program.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Anthony J. Ramo

HOBART — Anthony J. Ramo died peacefully in his sleep at The Hearthstone in Hobart on Oct. 15, 2000. He was 94 years old.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Harriet Ramo; his daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Joseph Weaver; two grandsons, Matthew and David Weaver; and one great-granddaughter, Katie Rose. A brother, Andy Ramo, survives in Sun City, Ariz.

"Tone," as he was known to his friends, retired to Florida in 1972. He enjoyed painting and spending summers in Delhi with his family. He was also an avid sports fan.

A service to celebrate Tone's life will be held at The Hearthstone in Hobart on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Arvid Whitmore of the First Presbyterian Church of Delhi officiating.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy should be sent to The Hearthstone, 20 Cornell Ave., Hobart, N.Y. 13788.

Eleanor Deinhardt

MARGARETVILLE — Eleanor M. Deinhardt, 71, of Margaretville died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Margaretville Memorial Hospital in Margaretville.

She was born March 26, 1929, in New York City, the daughter of Frederick Ihlo and Marie Daume.

She married Harry J. Deinhardt on Sept. 15, 1950, in New York City. He died July 5, 1999.

She was a part-time resident from 1972, until moving full time to Andes in 1989.

Eleanor is survived by one daughter, Kathy O'Neil of Centereach; two sons, Michael Deinhardt of Centereach and Robert Deinhardt of Woodhaven; four grandchildren; a brother, Fred Ihlo of Margaretville; and a sister, Irene Meyerdierka of Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, with the Rev. Joseph Manerowski officiating. Burial will be held at the Margaretville Cemetery, Margaretville. Calling hours are Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

William Barlow Sr.

HOBART — William S. Barlow Sr. was born in Hobart on Feb. 10, 1919, to Sarah and L.G. Barlow. He expired at Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton on Oct. 21, 2000.

Mr. Barlow served in the United States Army during World War II, from December 1941 to November 1945, having served in Germany.

He married Mary Jane Edwards in Binghamton on Nov. 15, 1945. They had owned farms in Roscoe and Walton, having lived in Walton since 1960.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Barlow; and two sets of twin boys and their wives, William and Nancy Barlow of Delhi, James and Ellen Barlow of Walton, Richard and Christie Barlow of Delhi and David and Trudy Barlow of Delhi. He is also survived by four grandsons, Paul, Robert, James and David; and one great-granddaughter. Two sisters also survive: Frances Coager and Betty Kimble of Hobart.

One brother, Dick, predeceased him.

He enjoyed working his farms, hunting, fishing, horses and his hunting dogs.

He was a member of the Delhi American Legion Post.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Oct. 24. 2000, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Clark-Winter Funeral Home in Walton. Burial will be in Beaverkill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Walton Emergency Squad in the name of William S. Barlow Sr.

Doris M. Thoms

UNADILLA — Doris M. Thoms, 73, of Unadilla passed away unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 20. 2000, at The Hospital, Sidney.

She was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Preston, the daughter of Carl and Ethel (Baker) Moore.

She was married to Michael E. Thoms on March 16, 1946, in Gilbertsville. Mr. Thoms died on Sept. 15, 1997.

Mrs. Thoms has been a 53-year resident of Unadilla and a former employee of the Borden's Dry Milk Plant in Bainbridge, Keith Clark Inc. of Sidney, and the former Fairhaven Nursing Home in Unadilla.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and James Puerile of Unadilla; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Rodger E. Thoms of Unadilla, James and Rosa Thoms of Pelham, N.C. and Michael L. Thoms of Unadilla; four brothers, Douglas Moore of Coventry, Dorr Moore of Florida, Allen Moore of Oxford and Harry Moore of Guilford; two sisters, Hazel Knapp and Carletta Russell, both of Oxford; her grandchildren, Janene Fish, Serena McCann, Richard Wright, Natasha Thoms and Michelle Thoms; her great-grandchildren, Alex, Seth, Thomas, Chris, Tim, Paul, Felishia and Bobby; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Buddy Moore, and a sister, Mary Moore Kline.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla, with the Rev. R. Michael Amos, pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Unadilla, officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.

Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to, when the family will be in attendance.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, Sidney.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

Jacqueline Williams

DELHI — Jacqueline "Jackie" Adams Williams, 46, of Richmond, Va., and formerly of Delhi died unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at her home in Richmond.

She was born June 10, 1954, in Suffolk, Va., the daughter of John and Mabel (Powell) Adams, and married Tony Williams, who survives in Petersburg, Va.

Jackie grew up in Delhi, where she graduated from Delaware Academy in 1972, later receiving her formal education at Norfolk (Va.) State University.

She enlisted in the U.S. Army, where she was a training specialist and achieved the rank of SFC (E7). After completing 22 years of active duty, she received her honorable discharge in 1998.

Jackie will be remembered for her loyalty to friends and dedication to humanity.

Also surviving are her mother, Mabel P. Adams, Delhi; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara A. and Kenneth Munderville, Albany; a brother, John Adams Jr., Oneonta; a nephew, Guillaume Thomas, Houston,  Texas; a niece, Oneisha Tucker, Richmond, Va.; two aunts, Mrs. Percy (Barbara P.) Tucker, Richmond, Va., and Grace G. Adams, Delhi; and an uncle, Roy Adams, Delhi.

She was predeceased by her father, John Adams, in April 1994.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, where the family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m., and where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, by the Rev. Bert More. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery with military honors given by Donald W. Gleason, American Legion Post 190.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Academy Scholarship Fund in memory of Jackie.

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi.

Kingsley C. Ross

COVENTRYVILLE — Kingsley C. Ross of Coventryville died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at 8:24 a.m. at his residence after a long illness.

He was born in Livingston Manor on July 4, 1911, the son of Frank and Julia (Cobb) Ross.

He married Dorothy York on Oct. 3, 1953, in New Jersey City, N.J.

He as a machine repairman at Bendix Corp. (now Amphenol Corp.) and retired in July 1976.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy Ross of Coventryville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Shirley Ross of Mount Upton, Frank Ross of Florida and Timothy and Joyce Ross of Satelite Beach, Fla.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Penny Stevens of Lancaster, S.C., Barbara and Allen Castle of Bainbridge and June and Scott Zindle of Greene; 22 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Ross of Sidney Center and Raymond Ross of Franklin; and several nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Agnettea Affron; a sister, Verna Ross; and a sister-in-law, Verna Ross.

The family will receive friends at the Dorothy Memorial Home, 58 W. Main St., Bainbridge, tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Dorothy Memorial Home in Bainbridge, with the Rev. Anthony Hipes of the Afton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge.

Arrangements were entrusted to Nick E. Ferrentelli, Arthur N.  Jones and the Dorothy Memorial Homes of Afton and Bainbridge.

Fred Fusco

MORRIS — Fred Fusco, 55, of Morris died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born Jan. 6, 1945, in the Bronx, the son of Cosmino and Mary (Marzigliano) Fusco.

He married Nancy Tomanelli on Jan. 10, 1970, in the Bronx.

He was a self-employed drywall contractor and was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman.

Fred is survived by his wife, Nancy Fusco of Morris; a son, Frederick Fusco of the Bronx; a daughter, Danielle Garry and her husband, Michael, of New Lisbon; two grandchildren, Liana and Sophia Garry of New Lisbon; his brothers and sisters, Frank Fusco of Long Island, Michael Fusco of Morris, Ben Fusco, Joan Dinome, Olga Salati, Pat Fusco, Cosmo Fusco, all of the Bronx; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Mario, Lenny and John; and a nephew, Cosmino Fusco.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Burns officiating. Calling hours will be tonight from 7 to 9 and Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to the Morris Rotary Club or the Morris Fire Department in Fred's memory.

Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.

Marguerite Burrow

MORRIS — Marguerite V. Burrow, 86, of Morris died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

She was born on Feb. 4, 1914, in Middletown, the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Alexander) Burrow.

She was a graduate of Rochester School of Hygienists and also a graduate of Cortland State Teachers College.

She worked for the Endicott School System for 191/2 years. After that, she was employed by Dr. Wilfred Gorsira for 91/2 years, retiring in 1978.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Morris.

She is survived by a brother, Eugene Wickham Jr. of Margaretville; and by her nieces and nephews, Joan and Jane Wittman of Binghamton and Charles Tremper of Syracuse.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris, with the Rev. J. Mark Norlund officiating. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Cemetery, Vestal.

Friends are asked to donate to their favorite charity in her memory.

Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.

Kathryn Nydam

DOONANS CORNERS — Kathryn Burdella All Nydam, 81, of Doonans Corners, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at the A.0. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

She was born Dec. 23, 1918, in Harpersfield, the daughter of Irving B. and Alice (Tiffany) All.

She married Raymond Nydam on July 22, 1939, in Kortright Center. Mr. Nydam died in 1991.

Kathryn graduated from Delaware Academy. She worked for a labeling factory as a mechanical consultant in Patterson, N.J., retiring in 1971. After her retirement she moved to the area.

She was a member of the Gilchrist Presbyterian Church in Kortright Center.

Kathryn and Raymond enjoyed ballroom dancing, bowling, fishing and hunting.

She is survived by three sisters, Mildred Zeh of Fultonham, Diana Robbins of McGraw and Marjorie VanWormer of Middleburg; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-nieces and -nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Larsen; and a brother, Seward All.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at 11:30 a.m. at the Davenport Cemetery, Davenport.

There will be no calling hours.

It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Bloomville Fire Department, Bloomville, N.Y. 13739, in loving memory of Kathryn Burdella All Nydam.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Fred Fusco

MORRIS — Fred Fusco, 55, of Morris, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at A.0. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

Rena B. Smith

DELHI — Rena B. Smith, a lifelong area resident, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at the Delaware County Countryside Care Center in Delhi, where she had been residing for several years.

She was born in French Woods, N.Y., on Sept. 26, 1912, to Grover and Bessie Wayman.

Rena married Jessie R. Smith on Dec. 2, 1936, in Starrucca, Pa. He predeceased her in 1974.

She was a member of the Trout Creek Community Church. She was a nurse's aide at Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton. She was a very caring person, always thinking of others.

Rena B. Smith is survived by her daughters, Carole and Gordon Finch of Sidney Center and Linda Grey of Florida; her sons, Orin and Gudrun Ritchey of El Paso,  Texas, Phillip and Betty Smith, of Hamden, and Larry and Patty Smith of Florida; a sister-in-law, Althea "Toots" Wayman of Loomis, N.Y.; and a brother, Leland Wayman of Arkansas. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

She was predeceased by a sister and three brothers.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Alzheimer's disease or to the American Cancer Society in memory of Rena B. Smith would be appreciated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lyon Bros.-Way Inc. Funeral Home, 102 Delaware St., Walton.
