Robert J. Cobb

DAVENPORT — Robert J. Cobb, 76, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 7, 2000, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 5, 1923, in Brooklyn, the son of Howard and Honora (Sullivan) Cobb.

He married Rita Reil on June 19, 1954, in Brooklyn.

Bob served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as an aerial reconnaissance photographer, and upon discharge, he held the rank of sergeant.

He retired in 1982, as a supervisor for the New York City Department of Parks, where he was employed for 33 years.

An area resident since 1974, moving here from Lynbrook, Bob was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Oneonta Disabled American Veterans, the Davenport VFW and the Knights of Columbus, John F. Kennedy Assembly of the 4th Degree.

He is survived by his wife, Rita R. Cobb of Davenport; two sons, Robert W. Cobb of Rocky Point, Long Island, and William Cobb and his wife, Ann, of Davenport; two granddaughters, Angela and Christina Cobb of Davenport.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Robert Longobucco, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Davenport Cemetery, Davenport.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, at which time the family will be in attendance.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice.

Arrangements are with the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Richard Zachmeyer

ROCHESTER — Richard F. Zachmeyer, of Oneonta and originally of Rochester, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000.

He is survived by wife of 18 years, Christine (Pittinaro); a daughter, Cynthia (James) Dell; several grandchildren; brothers, Robert and Paul (Rose); and a sister, Patricia (Charles) DeGraw.

Richard devoted much of his life working with people with disabilities.

For the last 11 years, he was the executive director of the Catskill Center for Independence in Oneonta.

Friends may call at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home Inc., (Village Location) 41 S. Main St., Fairport, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A memorial Mass on Saturday will be held at 11 a.m. at Assumption Church in Fairport.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a charity of choice that provides services to people with disabilities.

Guy F. Moore

SIDNEY — Guy F. Moore, 69, of Sidney, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, in Sidney.

He was born Jan. 4, 1931, one of five children. He was the son of Edward Moore and Marjorie LaValley,of Millerton, N.Y.

In addition to his father, Guy is predeceased by brothers, Edward "Stub" Moore Jr., Allen "Mickey" Moore and a sister, Dorothy Moore.

Guy served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.

He married Estella Mott on July 25, 1953, in Masonville, N.Y.

Guy was employed as a construction worker for Simmons Construction and retired from Wakeman Construction.

He was a member of the VFW Post 7914 of Sidney.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Estella Moore of Sidney; a son, Terry C. Moore of Cicero, N.Y.; his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and James Warner of Masonville, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Stacey and Lucy Anne of Masonville; and one brother, David Moore of Stormville, N.Y.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at C.H. Landers Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Fr. Gordon Polenz, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Sidney, and Sidney VFW Post 7914, will officiate.

There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Inc. Sidney.

Richard Zachmeyer

ROCHESTER — Richard F. Zachmeyer, of Oneonta and originally of Rochester, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000.

Donald T. Myers

SIDNEY — Donald T. Myers, 78, of Sidney, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, in Sidney.

He was born on July 9, 1922, in Margaretville, N.Y., son of the late Thomas and Bertha Briscol Myers.

Don served his country in the United States Army twice, first during WWII, and second, he was called to serve in the Korean conflict.

He married Elsie Morris on May 28, 1960, in Sidney.

Don had been employed for E.C.D. of Bendix of Sidney, for more than 20 years, when he retired.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Oneonta and the Bainbridge Lions Club. Don was a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 183 of Sidney, holding many positions, including past commander. He was also a past second vice commander for the American Legion of Delaware County.

Don is survived by his wife, Elsie Myers of Sidney; a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Madden of Fanwood, N.J.; five brothers, Leighton Myers and Albert, John, James and Fred Catella, all of Oneonta; two sisters, Rose Mayo of Rochester, Minn., and Julia Bennett of Oneonta; a grandchild, Tracey Rumbelow of Sarasota, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney at 8:30 p.m. The Rev. Michael Shank, pastor of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Sidney, will officiate.

Friends may call Saturday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla. Sidney American Legion Post 183, will render military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sidney American Legion Post 183.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Inc., Sidney.

Rose M. Oakley

WORCESTER — Rose M. Oakley, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at A.0. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

She was born March 1, 1918, in Union Grove, daughter of Elbert and Norma (VanSteenburg) Frayer.

She married Elbert Oakley on July 6, 1954, in Elkton, Md. He has predeceased her.

Mrs. Oakley moved to Worcester in 1974 from Union City, N.J.

She at one time was a nanny in Syracuse for many years and then was employed at a pocketbook factory in North Bergen, N.J.

She attended the Second Baptist Church in Worcester.

She is survived by a loving and caring niece and nephew, Douglas and Sharon Mowers of Worcester, with whom she lived; several grandchildren and great grandchildren from Arizona, California and Ohio; a sister, Flora A. Evans of Worcester; an aunt, Mary Spraugue of Margaretville; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Hattie Schambers of East Worcester and Helen Oro of Vineland, N.J.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Irene Whitney Fuqua; a sister, Hilda Sperbeck; and a brother, Clarence Frayer.

At Mrs. Oakley's request, she will be cremated and there will be no calling hours.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, pastor at the Second Baptist Church in Worcester.

Contributions may be made in loving memory of Mrs. Oakley to the American Cancer Society, Southern District Office, 57 Front St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905-4704.

Arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester.

Virginia Boschetti

ONEONTA — Virginia "Ginny" Lawson Boschetti, 82, of Goodyear Lake, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.

She was born on Feb. 13, 1918, in Rochester, N.Y., the daughter of William and Anna Lawson.

She married Anthony "Tony" Boschetti on July 7, 1962, in Oneonta.

Ginny is survived by her devoted husband, Tony, of Goodyear Lake; one brother, Robert J. Lawson, and his wife, Gladys, of Oneonta; one daughter, Sally Sanford of Cooperstown; two sons, Mike Patton and his wife, Annick, and Tim Patton and his wife, Judy, who live in Phoenix, Ariz.; seven sisters and brothers-in-law, Emma, Jennie, Rose, Amando, Quinto, Alex and Lennie; several nephews and nieces and cousins.

She was predeceased by her oldest son, Bill Patton, on Jan. 22, of this year.

Ginny was a waitress for most of her adult life, working at Molinari's on South Main Street in Oneonta and the Homestead Restaurant in Colliersville. She retired in 1990.

She will be missed by her extended family and friends and always remembered with love.

A memorial service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Atonement in Oneonta, on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Stennett of Laurens officiating.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions be made to the Milford Fire and Rescue Squad, Milford, N.Y. 13807.

Her final resting place will be in Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.

Arrangements are by the Lewis-Hurley Funeral home, Oneonta.

Alice P. Titus

HARPERSFIELD — Alice P. Titus, 90, formerly of Wilcox Road, Harpersfield, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at Robinson Terrace, Stamford.

She was born Aug. 26, 1910, at Grand Gorge, the daughter of William and Bessie (Wyckoff) Jones.

Alice was married to Edward O. Titus on Nov. 11, 1927, at Harpersfield. Edward died March 9, 1972.

Alice lived in the Harpersfield area most of her life and for many years was a bus driver for the Stamford Central School and a nurse's aide at the former Stamford Community Hospital.

She attended the Harpersfield United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Rita Troost of Franklin, Va., and Bess Prusky of New Port Richey, Fla.; her sons, Paul Titus of Richmondville and Kenneth Titus of Salisbury, N.C.; grandchildren, Doug, Joe, Kim, Marc, David, Kathy, Laura, Margie and Sabrina; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marion Govern of Stamford and Evelyn Bassani of Treadwell; sisters-in-law, Rena  Jones of Harpersfield, Jenna Mae  Jones of Stamford and Mary  Jones of Cobleskill; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at the Harpersfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Elliott Oakes, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in the Harpersfield Center Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hall Funeral Home, 142 W. Main St., Stamford, at their convenience Sunday afternoon and evening. The family will be attendance Sunday between 6 and 8 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Alice's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Northern New York Chapter, PO Box 1364, Oneonta, N.Y. 13820.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford and Grand Gorge.

Harold W. Smith

DELHI — Harold W. "Shod" Smith, 77, of Delhi, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.

He was born May 27, 1923, in Northville, N.Y., the son of Albert and Ruby (Parslow) Smith.

He married Norma Davidson Smith on Oct. 26, 1946, in DeLancey, N.Y. She survives him, as do a son and daughter-in-law, Mark H. and Claudia Smith of Germany; a daughter, Roxann Smith of Denver,  Colo.; a grandson, Alexander Smith; two sisters, Kathleen Savage and Frances Brown of Northville; a brother, Hubert Smith, of Northville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A sister, Marie Smith, predeceased him,

Mr. Smith retired from the State University College of Technology at Delhi after 28 years of service in the maintenance department. Previously he was employed by Allen-Palmer Plumbing and Van Arnam Ford Motor Co., both in Northville.

The family invites friends to call at their home, 29 Elm St., Delhi, all day on Monday, Nov. 13, 2000.

A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at Northville Cemetery, Northville, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Hopwood of Northville Presbyterian Church officiating. After the service, the location of a reception in Northville will be announced.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 25, Delhi, N.Y. 13753.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.

June B. Egan

LAKE WALES, Fla. — June B. (Fort) Egan, 69, loving mother and companion, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at her residence in Lake Wales, Fla.

She was born in Cherry Valley, where she attended Cherry Valley School, then graduated from Amsterdam School of Nursing in 1952 as a registered nurse.

She retired in 1989, after 10 years of service, from Hartwick College in Oneonta.

She moved to Lake Wales, Fla., in 1997.

She is survived by her loving companion, Arthur Pickard of Lake Wales; daughters, Teresa L. Thomas of Lake Wales, Fla., and Melissa Bergman of Cocoa, Fla.; son- in-law, Riley Bergman of Cocoa, Fla.; grandchildren, Joshua Thomas, Linda Bergman and Dalton Bergman; a brother, Emory Oeser Jr. of Cherry Valley; a sister- in- law, Ruth Oeser of Cherry Valley; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are Saturday at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Dax, Meyer and Locke Funeral Home, 202 Main St., Dundee, Fla.

Calvin Earl Maxim

NORTH BLENHEIM — Calvin Earl Maxim, 28, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, in Middleburgh.

He was born in Delhi on May 25, 1972, son of Wayne Maxim of  Jefferson and Ethel Goodchild Kratochvil of Gilboa.

He was self-employed as the owner and operator of Maxim Logging. He had previously worked for Clem Caron logging operation in North Blenheim, and 12 years at Kratochvil's Saw Mill. Calvin had a reputation for honesty and integrity in all of his actions. He participated in several regional logging courses and conservation efforts, often receiving the highest awards. He was a gentle, quiet and loving husband and father who enjoyed model building, and watching professional wrestling.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Manon Maxim; his parents, his stepfather, Raymond Kratochvil of Gilboa; daughter, Callie Maxim at home; sisters, Denise Rose and Michelle Mattice, both of Gilboa. Two brothers, Berton Maxim of North Blenheim and Wayne Maxim of Prattsville; several stepbrothers and sisters; nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Calvin Maxim will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Grand Gorge United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Nash officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Grand Gorge. Friends will be received this afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Grand Gorge United Methodist Church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the E.B. Gormley Funeral Home, Main Street, Phoenicia.
