Kenneth A. Haith

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Kenneth A. Haith, 90, of Fort Myers, Fla., died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000.

He was born in East Springfield, N.Y., a son of the late Albert and Isabella Haith.

He was a member of the United States Army during World War II and retired as an assistant postmaster from Cherry Valley, N.Y., in 1969 after 30 years service, at which time he moved to Fort Myers, Fla., and worked for the Barnett Bank, retiring in 1975 at 65.

Kenneth was a past noble of the Odd Fellows, twice a past master of the Masons, chaplain of the American Legion and secretary of the Volunteer Fireman's Association.

He had an orchestra during the 1940s and 1950s, and he could make a sax talk; he entertained members at Myerlee Country Club. He was a member and sang in the choir of the Fort Myers United Congregational Church.

Mr. Haith is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Elizabeth; his devoted children and son-in-law, Jaquelin and Bert Anthony of Fort Myers, Fla., and Richard G. Haith of New Jersey; his six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be celebrated at Fort Myers Congregational United Church of Christ, 8210 College Parkway, on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Hope Hospice of Lee County.

Interment will be in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Fort Myers, Fla.

Gladys B. McCann

MARGARETVILLE — Gladys B. McCann, 64, of Margaretville passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at the Margaretville Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 11, 1936, in Arkville, the daughter of Richard Balcom and Bessie Easley.

She married Henry McCann on Oct. 16, 1965, in Arkville.

She was a cook and teacher at Head Start for 15 years in Margaretville and Arkville.

She lived in Margaretville all of her life.

Gladys is survived by her mother, Bessie Balcom of Margaretville; her husband, Henry McCann of Margaretville; four sons, Michael McCann of Fleischmanns, William H. McCann of  Pennsylvania, Joseph L. McCann of Walton and Daniel G. McCann of Delhi; three daughters, Wilma Beers of Arkville, Patricia R. McCann of Franklin and Amy McCann of Margaretville; one brother, LeRoy Balcom of  Texas; two sisters, Anna Liddle of Margaretville and Ruth Kinnie of Vermont; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, with the Rev. S. Hayden Walsh officiating. Burial will be held in the Sanford Cemetery, Margaretville. Calling hours will be at 10 a.m. Saturday until service time at 11 a.m.

Contributions may be made to the Head Start Project, Arkville, N.Y. 12406.

Arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Anna L. Hull

EDMESTON — Anna L. Hull, 69, of Edmeston passed into the hands of God on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at M.I. Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Gordon, of 46 years; one daughter, Adonica Burns of Lowell, Mass.; one son, Stephen Hufman of Oneonta; a daughter-in-law, Loretta, and a son-in-law, Michael; six grandchildren, Erica, Terri, Christy, Amy, Anthony and Steven; and two great-grandchildren; and two half-brothers, Darrell of North Carolina and Philip of  Louisiana.

She was predeceased by a sister, Treva of Florida; her parents and stepmother of North Carolina.

Anna was a waitress and a Girl Scout leader. She worked in a hospital and dress factory.

She was an avid homemaker, loving cooking and baking and growing house plants and plants outdoors.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Edmeston.

There will be a memorial service at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. William Highfield officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

Burial will be in Burlington Green Cemetery.

Donations may be given to either the Arthritis Foundation, the Heart Fund or the Edmeston Emergency Squad.

Lucy Ann Harris

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Lucy Ann (Andrews) Harris, 41, of Jacksonville, N.C., went to heaven on Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, in Jacksonville, N.C.

She was born Dec. 12, 1958, in Oneonta, N.Y. She is the daughter of David E. and Frances M. Andrews Sr., of Davenport Center, N.Y.

She was married Nov. 6, 1993, to Gunnery Sgt. Robert J. Harris.

While attending school in Oneonta, N.Y., she also delivered newspapers for The Daily Star, Oneonta, N.Y.

Lucy Ann graduated from Hudson Valley Community College.

Lucy Ann is survived by her husband, Robert J. Harris; her son, Justin M. Harris; five sisters and three brothers; sisters, Connie and Claud Folds of Hartwick, N.Y., Frances and Larry Callahan of Schenetedy, N.Y., Leta Winters of Ocala, Fla., Lillian and Donald Eldred of Greensboro, N.C., Lornajean and Peter Pozeg of Dumfries, Va.; brothers, David E. and Alberta Andrews Jr. of Dale City, Va., Frank W. and Cindy Andrews of Front Royal, Va., Joseph J. and Kristie Andrews of Front Royal, Va.

In lieu of flowers, please send monetary donations to the Justin M. Harris Scholarship Fund, in care of the Commanding Officer, HMH-461, New River, N.C. 28540.

Arrangements were by  Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Hunt from New River Air Station officiating.

William J. Miller

BRODHEADSVILLE,, Pa. — William J. Miller, age 76, of Brodheadsville, Pa., formerly of Madison, N.J., and Cooperstown, N.Y., died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at the Brookmont Health Care Center in Effort, Pa.

He was the loving husband of Caroline (Frey) Miller. They had been married 55 years.

Born in New York City on Dec. 18, 1923, he was the son of the late Henry F. and Margaret (Benden) Miller.

He had worked as a district manager in the Treasury Department for AT&T for 40 years in New York City then Cooperstown and later Bedminster, N.J. He was a decorated United States Army veteran having served in the European Theater. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert, Pa. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He loved baseball and was a coach and manager of the Little Leagues in Madison, N.J. and Cooperstown. He was a former third-degree Knight of Columbus.

In addition to his loving wife, Caroline, he is survived by two sons, William J. Miller and his wife, Elizabeth, of Chester, N.J., James Miller and his wife, Marie, of Chatham, N.J.; four daughters, Lynda Mitchell and her husband, John, of Cooperstown, Judith Miller of Easton, Pa., Kathleen Cooper of Hillsboro, N.J., and Patricia Kleeberg of Salida,  Calif.; two brothers, Raymond F. Miller of Sciota, Pa., and Richard Miller of Swiftwater, Pa.; a sister, Margaret  Taylor of Delray Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Lamprecht.

Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, Pa., followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert, Pa., with the Rev. Father William McCawley, celebrant.

Viewing will be held Friday, Dec. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cremation will take place at H. G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg, Pa.

The Donald N. Gower Funeral Home Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, Pa., is in charge of arrangements.

Marion P. Hendee

SIDNEY — Marion P. Hendee, 83, of 17 DeWitt Drive, Sidney, passed away peacefully Friday morning, Dec. 8, 2000, at A.0. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.

She was born July 27, 1917, in  Johnson City, the daughter of the late Charles and Edna Mitchell Phillips.

On May 3, 1936, she was married to Milton Burdett Hendee in Sidney. He predeceased her on Nov. 3, 1990.

Marion was a graduate of Oneonta High School and completed her higher education at the State University College at Oneonta. For 17 years, she was an elementary teacher at the Bainbridge- Guilford schools and retired from the Sidney Pearl Street School in 1978.

She was an active member of the Sidney United Methodist Church, Sidney Chapter 255 O.E.S., N.Y.S. Retired Teachers Association and numerous community organizations.

She is survived by a son, Jeffrey L. Hendee, of Florence, Mass.; a daughter, the Rev. Charlotte A. Hendee of Galesville, Md.; three sisters, Mrs. Muriel Bree of Danbury, Conn., Mrs., Florence Scoville of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Mrs. Charlotte Hay of Oneonta.; a grandson, Timothy Hendee, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Marc-Aurele, both of Worcester, Mass.; five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, from the Sidney United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Masland, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be at the convenience of her family in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.

Friends are invited to call at their convenience Sunday at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney.

Her family will be in attendance from 3 to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name may be directed to the Sidney United Methodist Church, 12 Liberty St., Sidney, N.Y. 13838.

Everett Adams

HOBART — Everett "E.T." Adams, 93, of Hobart Township, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Delaware County Countryside Care following a short illness. He was born on Oct. 15, 1907, in township, the son of Francis E. and Martha (Thomson) Adams.

He married Mary Catherine Borra on June 24, 1934. She predeceased him in February of 1996.

E.T. was a lifelong resident of Township Valley where he operated a dairy farm on the Adams Homestead for many years. After selling the farm, he was a well-known cattle dealer. He supplied cattle to many farmers of the area and obtained many farm auctions for the Welch Livestock Market of Edmeston.

Mr. Adams was a member of the Township Methodist Church for many years.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Carolyn Adams of Stamford; a granddaughter, Diane Adams of Stamford; a granddaughter and her husband, LouAnn and Brian Lagana of Alexandria, Va.; a sister-in-law, Mary L. Adams of Oneonta; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart, with the Rev. Richard Elder officiating.

The family will be in attendance at calling hours Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Locust Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Hobart Emergency Squad.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Florence Anderson

JEFFERSON — Florence Emily May Anderson passed away at her daughter's home, last Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at the age of 77.

She was born in New York City on May 15, 1923, to Joseph and Susanna (Butt) Roberts.

She married William Anderson on Aug. 18, 1940.

During World War II, she worked for Republic Aviation on Long Island as a riveter.

Her favorite past time was Bingo, which she played avidly.

In 1992, she was predeceased by her husband of 51 years.

She is survived by her two children, Florence McElroy and William Anderson Jr. and their spouses; her four grandchildren, Florence (Dawn) Goodrich, Sherry Wilsey, Michelle Van Looy and Douglas Anderson and their spouses; and her seven great-grand children, Jessica Wiertz Goodrich, Kaleb Goodrich, Trena Wilsey, Amanda and Ryan VanLooy and Matthew and Stephen Anderson; and her beloved dog, Shep.

Before her death, she wished to extend her heartfelt thanks to Hospice and two very special nurses at A.O. Fox Hospital, Ester Dowland and Kevin, for their loving care and concern.

A funeral service at Full Calvary Gospel Church, Moxley Street,  Jefferson, is scheduled for today (Saturday, Dec. 9) at 1 p.m.

Arrangements are being handled by the William A. Tari Funeral Home, Stamford.

Gloria Ammerman

ILION — Gloria Ammerman, 77, of Andes, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home in Ilion.

Gloria was born May 23, 1923, in Dry Brook, Margaretville, the daughter of Hammie and Naomi Merritt George. She married John H. Ammerman on Sept. 18, 1939 He predeceased her in November of 1975

A lifetime Andes resident, Gloria was a member of the Andes Methodist Church, the Andes Grange, Andes Seniors Club and was active in church and community affairs. She worked for years at the Andes Central School cafeteria.

Surviving are a daughter, Letitia Mark, and husband, Augustus, of Sidney; her son, John M. Ammerman, and wife, Susan, of Mohawk; a sister, Doris Paul, of Masonville; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a funeral service Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Jester-Stanley Funeral Home in Andes, with the Rev. Daniel McCollister officiating.

Burial will be in Andes Cemetery at a later date.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, from noon until service time.

Memorials, in the name of Gloria Ammerman, to the Alzheimer's Foundation, Andes Emergency Squad or the charitable organization of your choice, will be appreciated.

Amelia Fategoni

MORRIS — Amelia Fategoni, 67, of Morris, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at her home in Morris.

She was born on May 3, 1933, in Valhalla, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Parisi) Russo.

She married Raymond Fategoni on May 7, 1955, in Chappaqua. Raymond died Dec. 15, 1989.

Amy and her husband operated the Carriage Inn in Morris for many years before their retirement. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W.

She is survived by a son, Mark Fategoni and his wife Lisa, of Unadilla; two daughters, Laura Barnette and her husband Michael, of Little Falls, N.J., and Lisa Thomas, of Cazenovia. Grandchildren include Grant, Lauren and Morgan Thomas; Justin and Tracia Barnette; Brent, Austin and Drew Fategoni, and her fiancι, William Ilg, of Bloomville. She is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Jobin and her husband, Bud, of Mount Kisco and Mary Russo.

A sister, Lily Russo, predeceased her.

It was Amy's request that graveside services be held in Hillington Cemetery in Morris and that there be no calling hours.

Graveside funeral services will be held in Hillington Cemetery in Morris on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father John Burns officiating.

Family and friends are invited to the Fategoni home following the service.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to either the Catskill Area Hospice or the American Cancer Society in her memory.

Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
