Obituary: ILION - Mrs. Audrey M. Gollegly, age 78 of 75 Barringer Road, Ilion, passed away on Good Friday April 6, 2007 at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home with her loving family at her side.

She was born on January 19, 1929 in Pierce, Ohio, a daughter of the late Fred & Alice (Brumagem) Stapp. Her family had moved to Ilion where Audrey had lived the majority of her life. She was a graduate of Ilion High School. On June 5, 1948 she joined in marriage with Emmett J. Gollegly in Ilion, a blessed union of 56 years. Emmett passed away on October 30, 2004. Audrey had worked with the former Ilion Hospital for twenty years, retiring in 1990.

Audrey will be remembered for her kind and gentle way. She devoted herself to her family.

She is survived by her beloved family including her children: Pamela & Brad Griffin of Whitney Point, NY; James M. Gollegly of Daytona Beach, FL; Sherri & Kevin Schiebel of Cedarville; Kevin P. & Marlene Gollegly of Herkimer; and Renee Gollegly of Ilion; Grandchildren: Kristyn & Andrea Morris; Jana Moore, Melissa Gollegly; Ian Griffin, Kyle & Alisha Gollegly; and Michael & Heather Schiebel; great grandchildren: Skyler Moore; Josiah Moore; Aniyah Moore, Zachary Morris Davis, William, Jonathan, and Matthew Schiebel; sisters in law: Ann Jean Flanagan of  Oklahoma City, OK; Carol Gollegly of Chadwicks, and Helen Gollegly of North Utica; two step sisters: Mary  Jackson of Herkimer, and Arlene Pritchard of West Winfield, a step brother: William Dibble of Alabama; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a grandson, Craig W. Schiebel.

Funeral services will be held on Friday April 13, 2007 at 10:00 AM from the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street Between Ilion & Frankfort with Deacon James Bowers of the Church of the Annunciation, officiating. Interment will follow at Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Thursday evening Apr. 12 from 5 -7 pm.

In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that donations be considered to either the Ilion Ambulance Fund or the Herkimer Area Resource Center. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Meals on Wheels program, to Dawn (Public Health Home Health Aid), the Claxton manor and the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for the compassion shown.

Obituary: ILION - Mary A. (Murphy) Bunce, 84, formerly of London Towers, Ilion, and 291 E. State St., Ilion, passed away on April 6, 2007, at Folts Homes, Herkimer.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1922, in Frankfort, the daughter of John V. and Rose (Hoffman) Murphy. Mary attended Annunciation School and Ilion High School. She was once employed at the Remington Arms Co., Ilion, as well as Chicago Pneumatic Co., Utica, as a draftsman. For many years Mary was employed in the food service business retiring in 1982 as Manager of the Ilion Dan Dee Donuts. She was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, the RSVP group and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Karen Bunce of Venice, Fla.; three grandchildren, John Bunce and his wife Mary of Rochester, N.H., Susan  Jones and her husband Steve of Sterling, Mass., and Julie LaBelle and her husband Tim of Sutton, Mass.; three stop-grandchildren, Paul Dructor of Coral Gables, Fla., James Dructor and his wife Chris of Litchfield, N.H., and Amy Hayden and her husband Adam of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Bunce and Mitchell Dructor; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her sister Ann Murphy, and three brothers, James, Edmund and Leonard Murphy.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend funeral services on Tuesday, May 29, at 1:30 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with the Rev. Anthony Barratt, Pastor of the Church of the Annunciation, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society. Special envelopes are available at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, Ilion.

Obituary: ILION - Karen A. Shaut, 59, of High Street, a lifelong Ilion resident, passed away at home Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, following a long illness.

Karen was born June 3, 1948, at Mohawk Valley General Hospital, Ilion, daughter of the late John and Nona (Reyome) Warner. She attended Ilion schools and was a graduate of Ilion High School “Class of 1967.” Following high school, Karen was enrolled in Stewardess training for the airlines in California. At one time she was married to William E. “Bill” Shaut, the father of her two daughters. Karen and Bill remained close till the end. He was her best friend and confidant. Karen was last employed by X-Tra Mart on West Main Street in Ilion. Prior to that she was a longtime employee of Dave Cramer's Video Plus, and at one time worked at Fay's Drug store in Ilion. Karen was an avid reader, loved gardening, was an excellent baker and a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants, and was affectionately known as “Ma Shaut” to her daughter's friends. She was a dedicated and devoted mother and grandmother whose life was centered around her loved ones. She will be dearly missed by those she touched.

Survivors include her beloved daughters, Victoria L. “Vicki” Alexander and her significant other Tim Hagan, both of Ilion, and Kristin M. “Krissy” Matthews and her husband Christopher “Gwee” of Ilion; her cherished granddaughter, Abigail Victoria “Abby” Matthews; two brothers, John M. Warner and his wife Patricia of Ilion, and Daniel S. Warner and his significant other Robin, both of Ilion; a special aunt, Martha Wengert of Mohawk; her best friend and father of “her girls,” Bill Shaut of Ilion; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and her aunt and uncle Jack and Rusty Reyome.

Family and friends are invited to visitation Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion.

A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday commencing at 1 p.m. at the funeral home following visitation, with the Rev. Robert Wollaber of Morningstar Ministries conducting the funeral service. Procession to St. Agnes Cemetery for her interment on the Warner lot will follow the service.

Karen's family would like to thank Dr. Dwyer, Cara and Michelle at Bassett Cancer Center, Herkimer, for their kindness and care during her illness. Those wishing to do so may consider memorial contributions in Karen's memory to the Bassett Cancer Center. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Francis W. Frank Pettit
TROY - Francis W. "Frank" Pettit, 75, of 106th Street, beloved husband of Anna M. Gallo Pettit of Lansingburgh, died on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

Born and educated in Troy, he was the son of the late Francis W. and Viola Connell Pettit Sr.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Daniel P. Chiperno
SCHUYLERVILLE - Daniel P. Chiperno, 67, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at his home following a courageous ten month battle with cancer, with his wife and daughter at his side.

Born on Dec. 18, 1940, at his maternal grandparent's home in Smithville, he was the only child of the late Daniel M. and Doris (Barton) Chiperno.

Dan was a 1958 graduate of Schuylerville Central School and served in the U.S. Army, stationed on a missile site in Germany for most of his tour of duty. He was honorably discharged as a SPEC 4 in 1966.

Doris Brownell Jordan
GREENWICH - Doris Brownell Jordan, 77, a resident of Bleeker Street, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at her residence.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich.

Marjorie E. Bailey
HUDSON FALLS - Marjorie E. Bailey, 93, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at her daughter's home in Hudson Falls.

A former longtime resident of Queensbury, Marjorie was born in Ottawa, Canada on Sept. 2, 1914. She was the daughter of the late Leslie and Mary Gillmor.

Marjorie worked for Central Market in Glens Falls. On April 12, 1945, she married Richard Bailey. Marjorie became a housewife and raised three children over the years to follow.

Ruth S. Underwood
HUDSON FALLS - Ruth S. Underwood, 84, of Blenor Avenue, passed away peacefully at the Glens Falls Hospital on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008.

Arrangements are under the direction of Carlton Funeral Home Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

Florence Constantine
GRANVILLE, N.Y. - Florence Constantine, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Indian River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.

Florence was born on June 11, 1918, in South Poultney, Vt., the daughter of Thomas P. and Catherine (Thomas) Jones.

Florence worked at various department stores and sewing shops over the years, one of which was the former John's Five and Dime on Main Street, in Granville. Florence enjoyed crocheting and knitting home- made dolls.

Doris Brownell Jordan
GREENWICH - Doris Brownell Jordan, 77, a resident of Bleeker Street, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at her residence following a short illness.

Born Feb. 19, 1931, in Easton, she was the daughter of John and Gladys Beverage Brownell. She was a lifelong resident of Greenwich.

Mrs. Jordan was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church and a life member of VFW Auxiliary No. 7291 of Greenwich.

Joseph S. Gitto
FORT EDWARD - Joseph S. Gitto, 79, formerly of The Oaks, died peacefully on Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on July 4, 1929, at home in Fort Edward, he was the son of Frank and Concettina (Guglielmini) Gitto.

Joe grew up in Fort Edward and went to work at Scott Paper at a young age. He was Leader of the Riggers when he retired in 1991 with more than 40 years of service.

Chester F. Coons Jr.
SARATOGA SPRINGS - Chester F. Coons Jr., 82, of Wesley Health Care Center formerly of Mechanicville, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Born March 14, 1926, he was the son of the late Chester F. and Alice Metcalf Coons; he lived most of his life in the Mechanicville/Halfmoon area.

Mr. Coons served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 and was a member of the original crew which commissioned the USS Randolph in 1944, He later served in the Air Force from 1949 to 1953.

Marvin Goldstein
CORINTH - Marvin Goldstein, 86, a longtime resident of the Dunn Avenue Residence in Corinth, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.

Born on June 9, 1922, in New York City, he resided downstate for many years, before moving to the Wilton D.D.S.O. in 1987.

Marvin then lived at the Dunn Avenue Residence in Corinth for many years.

Scott Towne
TOWN OF MOREAU - Scott Towne, 56, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at his home.

He was born on Oct. 22, 1951, in Troy, N.Y.

Scott was the proprietor of Rondac Pet Services in Moreau.

Mary E. Convery
SARATOGA SPRINGS - Mary E. Convery of Maple Avenue, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Saratoga Hospital. She was 95.

Born April 28, 1913, in Jankovce, Austria Hungary, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Fecenko) Hlavaty.

Mary worked for 36 years for VanRaalte Knitting Mill located in Saratoga.

Ruth S. Underwood
HUDSON FALLS - Ruth S. Underwood, 84, of Blenor Avenue, in Hudson Falls, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital, after a brief illness.

Born on July 23, 1924, in Adamsville, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Helen (Bancroft) Story.

Ruth graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1948, with a degree in education and taught home economics for several years in Corinth. She also worked as a substitute teacher for various school districts. Ruth was also a life member of the Glen Star Chapter No. 95 of Order of The Eastern Star.

Nancy A. Commarto
ATHOL - Nancy A. Commarto, 20, of Zaltz Road, passed away, Sunday evening, Aug. 3, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Lake George.

Born April 6, 1988, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Cynthia (Wimette) Commarto of Athol and the late Samuel J. Commarto.

Nancy was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Warrensburg Central School.

Edna Stoddard
CRANSTON, R.I. - Edna Louise Stoddard, 91, of Pawtuxet Village, R.I., died peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008.

Her last few years she lived in assisted living at the Scandinavia Home and Epoch on Butler Avenue.

Despite her years with dementia, she kept her strong personality, her wit and sense of humor, and her deep concern for others throughout her long life.

Donald Brown
ATHOL - Donald K. Brown, 66, of Athol Road, passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Aug. 18, 1941, in Albany, he was the son of the late Leon and Elizabeth (Elwell) Brown.

Following his high school graduation, Don served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.

Jean Cutler
MOREAU - Jean G. Cutler, 84, of Fort Edward Road, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, N.Y.

Edward Fuller
WARRENSBURG - Edward L. Fuller, 91, of Woodward Avenue, passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Services are pending with the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, Warrensburg.

Emily Rose Smith Lieberth
GLENS FALLS - Emily Rose Smith Lieberth, infant daughter of Joy Smith and Michael Lieberth and sister of Katherine and Caroline, died on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2008, at the Albany Medical Center.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 136 Warren St., in Glens Falls.

Edith Muller
QUEENSBURY - Edith T. Muller, 84, a resident of Queensbury passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home after a long illness and complications of Alzheimer's disease.

Edith was a "first generation" Italian-American born on Jan. 15, 1924, at Astoria, N.Y., the youngest in a family of seven children, the daughter of Giovanni Ragognetti and Guiseppina (Iacontini) Ragognetti formerly of Polla, Italy.

Edith graduated from public high school in New York City during World War II and immediately entered the work force as a secretary in the war defense industry.

Jean Cutler
MOREAU - Jean G. Cutler, 84, of Fort Edward Road, passed away following a long illness, at Glens Falls Hospital on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008.

Born on July 15, 1924, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Cameron I. and Christena M. (Wood) Grant.

Jean grew up on the family farm in Durkeetown and graduating from Fort Edward High School in 1942. She went on to receive her RN degree from Samaritan Hospital in Troy, N.Y. and worked for Glens Falls Hospital and then at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home.
