Robert Kemp

WALTON — Robert Kemp, a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta. He was 71.

Mr. Kemp was born on Sept. 20, 1929, in Walton. He worked at Kraft Dairy in Walton and had been in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Apex Hunting Club and the Walton Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and morning coffee with his friends in the community.

Robert Kemp is survived by a son, Christopher (Karen) Kemp of Franklin; a daughter, Karen Kemp of New Jersey; a sister, Dorothy (Laverne) Schreher of Walton; and two grandchildren, Jonathan and Brianne. He was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Kemp.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug., 6, 2001, at Walton Cemetery, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, chaplain at Fox Hospital, officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lyon Bros.-Way Inc. Funeral Home, 102 Delaware St. in Walton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820 or Fox Hospital Chaplain Program, 1 Norton Ave., Oneonta, NY 13820 would be appreciated.

Anthony Viele

SIDNEY — Anthony "Tony" Viele, 43, of Sidney, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, in Sidney.

He was born Jan. 27, 1958, to Harold and Ida Smith Viele in Sidney. Tony was a self-employed contractor.

He was survived by his mother Ida Viele of Sidney; his brother Ken Viele of Oneonta; sister and brother-in-law Teresa and Glenn Goble of Sidney; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Harold.

Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. in Sidney at 11 am.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney.

Arrangements are by C.H. Landers Inc. in Sidney.

Albert Leadholm

ONEONTA — Albert Helmer Leadholm, 68, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at his residence with his loving family at his side, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug. 31, 1932, in Omaha, Neb. He was the son of the late Helmer and Josephine Leadholm.

He married Mary Barbara Roberts on Feb. 4, 1953, in Lucedale, Miss.

He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for 15 years. He then worked as a design engineer as they traveled many different states, including  Texas, Michigan, Indiana and New York.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years at home; three sons, seven daughters, their spouses and 24 grandchildren: Deborah (Kriss) and Mark and their children, Miriam, Laura, Naomi, Kevin and Kara, of Albany; Roy (Leadholm) and Karin and their children, Anne Katrine and Niels, of Norway; Thomas (Leadholm) and his children, Christopher and Jessica, of Michigan; Joseph (Leadholm) and Lynne and their child, Rae Anne, of Michigan; Mary (Sliviak) and V. Lee and their children, Kenneth and Amanda, of Maryland; Margaret (Griffin) and Norman and their children, Bennjamin, Suzannah, Jonnathan and Harrisonn, of Galway; Jane (McBride) and Chris and their children, Andrew and Joseph, of Tennessee; Betty (Hayes) and Casey and their children, Michael and William of  Texas; Patricia (Carroll) and James and their children, Daniel, Jennifer and Nicholas of  Texas; and Carolyn (Wittke) and William and their child, Catherine, and baby due in March, of Michigan. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Leadholm of Florida, and sister, Carolyn Leadholm of Michigan.

A private memorial service will be held with family members.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish can make contributions to their local hospice organization.

Arrangements are by the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home of Oneonta.

Eleanor Riesen

TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Eleanor  Jones Riesen, 72, of Titusville, Fla., was called to paradise by her heavenly Father on July 31, 2001, after a brief illness.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Herman; and her three children, Daniel and Donna Riesen of Cleveland (Timothy and Michael), Suzanne and George Petko of Binghamton (Sarah and Emily) and Craig

and Jean Riesen of Westland, Mich., (Rachael, Johnathan and Stephen). She is also survived
by her five younger siblings — three brothers, Leonard, Ray and G. Roger; and two sisters, Martha and Esther.

Eleanor was born and raised in Norwich.

After marriage, she lived and worked in Sidney, retiring from Bendix Corp.

Herman and Eleanor moved to Titusville, Fla., in 1991, where they enjoyed an intimate church life and actively served their community.

As an avid reader and lover of books, she volunteered at the church media center. She served "Meals on Wheels" and as volunteer income tax assistor. She chaired the Benevolent Fund committee at Park Avenue Baptist Church as an outreach to the needy in the community.

A memorial service was held at Park Avenue Baptist Church, Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Park Avenue Baptist Benevolent Fund, 2600 South Park Ave., Titusville, FL 32780.

Walter Dabulewicz

ONEONTA — Walter C. Dabulewicz, 90, of Oneonta, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at his residence.

He was born July 30, 1911, in Peckville, Pa., the son of John and Helen (Bronko) Dabulewicz.

He married Allene Gray on Sept. 21, 194l. She predeceased him on Sept. 13, 1988.

Walter was a graduate of Penn State University and worked as a forester in Minnesota, before going to work for the federal government. After his retirement from Frankfort Arsenal in Philadelphia in 1965, he lived with his wife in Sellersville, Pa., until moving to Oneonta in 1986.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Stella Youshock and Jennie Lombardi; and a brother, John Dabulewicz.

Walter is survived by a sister-in-law, Audrey Dabulewicz of Otego; three nieces, Helen Compton of Souderton, Pa., Nancy Behrns of North Tonawanda and Sandra Normile of Conklin; and four nephews, John of North Carolina, Paul of Otego, Walter of Moravia and Peter of Nineveh.

Walter will be cremated at the Hillington Crematory in Morris. His cremains will be buried in the Otego Evergreen Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820 in memory of Walter C. Dabulewicz.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes of Oneonta and Otego.

Douglas S. Bagg

BLOOMINGTON, Ohio — Douglas Stewart Bagg Sr., 71, died July 5, 2001, in Bloomington, Ohio.

He was born Oct. 22, 1929, in Oneonta, to Stewart and Dorothy (Sweet) Bagg. Both preceded him in death.

He was a retired California highway patrolman and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of the Monroe County Radio-Controlled Airplane Club and an avid sportsman.

Survivors include three sons, Douglas S. Bagg II of Bloomington, Ohio, Stewart Douglas Bagg of Irving,  Calif., and Kevin Craig Bagg of Las Vegas; one daughter, Leslie Anderson of Anchorage, Alaska; three sisters, Marilyn Short of Saugerties, Royce Whitaker of Terre Haute, Ind., and Cheryl Hopkins of Oneonta; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held July 14, 2001, in Ohio.

Any memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or an organization close to your heart.

Esther Tash

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Esther Tash passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of Queens.

She was the loving wife of David, to whom she was married almost 62 years, and adored mother of Martin (Arlene) Tash, Harriet (Arnold) Rosenberg and Betty Tash. She was the cherished grandmother of Nathan Tash, Faye Tash, Jill (Bryan) Wrubel, Paul Rosenberg and fiancee Carla Jordan, Wendy Rosenberg and fiance Ben Bernstein, Morgan Purcell and Chelsea Purcell. She was most beloved great-grandmother of Leah Purvis, Marissa Wrubel and Michael Wrubel.

Services were held at Temple Beth El in Boca Raton.

Emil J. Ludecker

CHERRY VALLEY — Emil J. Ludecker, 74, of Winnie Hollow Road in Cherry Valley, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 7, 2001, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

He was born on July 9, 1927, in Baldwin, a son of Emil J. and Anna (Mauser) Ludecker.

He married Marjorie V. McEntegart on Oct. 8, 1955, in Great Neck.

Emil was raised in Baldwin, where he graduated from Baldwin High School. He then entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country during World War II. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy he attended Siena College, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in biology.

Throughout his career as a pharmaceutical chemist he was employed by Ayerst Laboratories in Grouse's Point, Leddrle Labs in Pearl River and Ciba-Geigy in Suffern (now known as Novartis Corp.), from which he retired in 1982. That same year, he and his family moved to the Cherry Valley area which he had been visiting since he was a boy.

A member of St. Mary's "Our Lady of the Lake" Catholic Church in Cooperstown, Emil was also a member of the National Rifle Association and was an active follower and supporter of the Republican Party.

Emil is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marjorie; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Suzanne Ludecker of Florida, N.Y., and Michael and Sherry Ludecker of Lewisburg, Pa.; six grandchildren, Kristen and Megan Ludecker, and Daniel, Vanessa, Andrew and Paige Ludecker; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and William Boulton of East Syracuse, Theresa and Thomas Nagele of Whispering Pines, N.C., and Dolores and Charles Nostrand of Babylon; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at St. Mary's "Our Lady of the Lake" Catholic Church in Cooperstown, with Fr. G. Peter Worn, pastor of St. James Catholic Church in Cazenovia, officiating, assisted by Fr. John R. Roos, Rector Emeritus of St. Mary's "Our Lady of the Lake" Catholic Church.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

At the request of the family there will be no calling hours.

A prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown, with Fr. John R. Roos, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial gifts may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America Inc., Upstate New York Chapter, 6 Automation Lane, Albany, NY 12205.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.

Arlene and James Monahan

BAINBRIDGE — Graveside services for the late Arlene and James Monahan of Bainbridge, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge.

Arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

Calla Molinari

SHARON SPRINGS — Calla Molinari, 78, of Sharon Springs, and formerly of Oneonta, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at Marchand Manor Nursing Home, Sharon Springs, after a lengthy illness.

She was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Oneonta, the daughter of Charles and Lulu (Bell) Geer.

She was married to John Molinari Jr.

Mrs. Molinari was a housewife and resided in Oneonta until moving to Sharon Springs in 1995.

She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Oneonta.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Linda) Preston of Woodbury, N.J., and Christi Silvernail of Phelps; two sons, Richard Molinari of Ft. Charlotte, and David Molinari of Maryland; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Dawn Sawyer of Terre Haute, Ind.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family in Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.

Arrangements are by Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Martha Vidosic

COOPERSTOWN — Martha M. Vanden Bulck Vidosic passed away.

She was born May 27, 1911, to Mr. and Mrs. Franz Vanden Bulck in Antwerp, Belgium. She came to the United States when she was 2 years old.

She attended the public schools in Hoboken, N.J.

She married Joseph P. Vidosic on Aug. 10, 1935. They had two children, Dorothy Smith of Cooperstown and U.S. Navy Ret. Capt. Richard Vidosic of San Diego,  Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She served as a Red Cross volunteer in Cochran, Ga., and Tuskegee, Ala. Also served as a Red Crescent (Red Cross equivalent) volunteer in Baghdad, Iraq, there while her husband was teaching engineering at the University of Baghdad under a State Department contract. She also taught American English as a volunteer to natives in Seoul, Korea, while there with her husband, who was organizing a new course at the Korea Advance Institute of Science and Technology.

She was president of the Cochran, Ga., Women's Club, three times.

She was a recipient of the National DAR Americanization award.

She was co-chairperson of the Sacred Heart (Atlanta, Ga.,) Confraternity of Catholic Doctrine.

She assisted in establishing a Catholic mission in Lawrenceville, Ga., and one in Cochran, Ga.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Cooperstown, with The Rev. John Roos, the Rev. John Sise and the Rev. Robert Scott officiating.

At the request of the family there will be no calling hours.

Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Index.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions may be made to The Meadows Activity Fund, 140 County Highway 33 West, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Frances Burnham

NORWICH — Frances C. Burnham, 90, of Mount Upton, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.

She was born Sept. 1, 1910, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth ( White) Constance in Cape Vincent.

Frances married Lawrence Burnham on July 3, 1934, in Rosier.

She attended State University College at Potsdam, State University College at Oneonta and Syracuse University.

Mrs. Burnham was a teacher in the Mount Upton School District when she retired in 1973, after 33 years of teaching.

She was also a member of Sacred Heart Church and the altar society, Sidney, the NYRTA, the Mount Upton Senior Citizens and a former member of the Grange. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. Mrs. Burnham also had stamp and butterfly collections.

Mrs. Burnham is survived by her husband, Lawrence Burnham, of Mount Upton; daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and John Stoffel of Edwards; three sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Betty Burnham of Palmetto, Fla., Lance and Kathy Burnham of Elizabeth, Ark., and Charles and Diane Burnham of Mount Upton; one brother, Harvey Constance of, Cape Vincent; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Loie McNeil of Sherburne and Edna Constance of Boynton Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law, Ralph Docteur of Cape Vincent; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two brothers and six sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at Sacred Heart Church, Liberty Street, Sidney, at 11 a.m.; the Rev. Fr. Joseph Schuck, assistant pastor, will officiate. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Upton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Inc., Sidney.

Elizabeth A. Ross

COOPERSTOWN — Mrs. Elizabeth A. (Betty) Ross, 87, formerly of Toddsville, died Wednesday morning, Aug. 8, 2001, at The Meadows.

She was born on Oct. 3, 1913, in Cooperstown, a daughter of Lee and Winifred (Aylesworth) Houck.

She married William E. Ross on Dec. 26, 1934, in Esperance. Mr. Ross died on Aug. 3, 1989.

Betty was raised and educated in Cooperstown. For a short time she and her family lived in Ilion, returning to Toddsville where she lived until entering The Meadows in 1997.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William L. and Shelia Ross of Fly Creek; two grandchildren, Sherry Tesch and William L. Ross Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Ross Tesch, William E. Ross, Jake Tesch and Madyson Ross; three sisters, Edna Bliss of Toddsville, Caroline Trinkaus of Cooperstown and Dee Pratt of Troy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at the Fly Creek Valley Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth R. Baldwin, retired United Methodist minister, officiating.

At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial gifts may be made to the Activities Fund, care of The Meadows, 140 County Highway 33W, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.
