Schroon Lake - Frances C. Bogle, 95, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 15, 2008, at CVPH in Plattsburgh, N.Y.
Fran was born Nov. 11, 1912, in Mineville, N.Y., the daughter of George and Nellie Grogan Lycett.
Fran was predeceased by her husband, William Bogle on July 20, 1970; her sisters, Margaret Hanby, Sept. 5, 1991, and Helene Hogan Speck, Nov. 2004.
Harvey C. Tifft
HUDSON FALLS - Harvey C. Tifft, 84, of Hudson Falls, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at his son, Jack and Mary Jane Tifft's home, after a long illness.
Born on April 13, 1924, in Salem, he was the son of the late Leon and Nora (Shaw) Tifft.
After attending Salem Academy, Harvey enlisted in the National Guard on July 24, 1950.

SARATOGA - John M. Dillon, 90, of Woodlawn Commons, Saratoga and a former resident of Luzerne Place, Glens Falls, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Funeral arrangements are pending under the care of M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls, N.Y.
Jeanne M. Zulauf
QUEENSBURY - Jeanne M. Zulauf, 84, of Queensbury passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008.
Born Feb. 7, 1924, in Yonkers, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Adolf and Lillian Hansbergere.
She was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School in Yonkers, N.Y.
Charles and Anna Tierney
WILTON - Charles and Anna Tierney died unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 15, 2008.
They were married for 50 years.
Charles was an U.S. Army veteran.
Adam Michael Nieckarz
CAMBRIDGE and TROY - Adam Michael Nieckarz, 22, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was the son of Paul M. Nieckarz of Cambridge and Jerri Sue (Wold) Mauran of Argyle.
Calling hours are planned for Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.
Adam Nieckarz
CAMBRIDGE and TROY - Adam Michael Nieckarz, 22, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born Friday, April 4, 1986, in Cambridge, he was the son of Paul Michael Nieckarz of Cambridge and Jerri Sue (Wold) Mauran of Argyle.
He was a graduate of Cambridge Central School, Class of 2004, where he was on the wrestling and football teams.

SCHENECTADY - Patricia Joy Cummings Lavin, 75, died on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, after a long illness.
Born on Jan. 31, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William L. Cummings and Margaret A. Buzzi.
Mrs. Lavin was a graduate of Cohoes High School.

QUEENSBURY - Rosalie Corbett, 73, of Anable Drive, Queensbury, passed away Sunday afternoon, Aug. 17, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her friends and family.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a 1 p.m. service at the Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
John Dillon
SARATOGA - John M. Dillon, 90, of Woodlawn Commons, Saratoga and former resident of Luzerne Place, in Glens Falls, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at the Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Born in Niagara Falls on July 25, 1918, he was the son of the late John and Evangeline Elizabeth (McConachy) Dillon.
John was a graduate of Niagara University and Syracuse University College of Law.
David A. Bruce
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. - David A. Bruce, 67, of Brattleboro, Vt., died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, in UMass Hospital in Worcester, Mass.
He was born on March 17, 1941, the son of Arthur and Ruth (Jones) Bruce in Granville, N.Y.
In November 1963, he was married to Mavis Tanner and they later divorced.
Gail L. Winslow Robbins
CORINTH - Gail L. (Winslow) Robbins, 72, of Oak Street, Corinth, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away after a short illness on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born on June 19, 1936, in Corinth, she was the daughter of the late Leon (Dingy) and Geneva (Gray) Winslow.
Gail graduated from Corinth Central School in 1953. While in school, she was active in sports.
Elizabeth Betty Winship Gelder
SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Elizabeth "Betty" (Winship) Gelder, 97, formerly of Ryder Avenue, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at The Fort Hudson Nursing Home.
Betty was born in Penn Yan, N.Y. on Sept. 15, 1910, she was the daughter of Vick and Mina (Watkins) Winship.
Betty graduated from Penn Yan High School and went on to receive her teacher training. She taught in a one-room school near Penn Yan.

QUEENSBURY - Rosalie Corbett, 73, of Anable Drive, Queensbury, passed away Sunday afternoon, Aug. 17, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her friends and family.
Born Sept. 4, 1934, in Warrensburg, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Marion (Brown) Langworthy.
Rosalie married Philip Corbett on May 20, 2000, at St. Mary's Church in Glens Falls.
Elaine M. Cole
ALBANY - Elaine M. Cole, 82, of Monroe, N.C., formerly of Albany, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Cole was born Aug. 7, 1926, in Albany, the daughter of the late Robert and Edith Hartwell.
Mrs. Cole was an active member of the Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Albany, since she received the Lord as her Savior and was baptized on April 3, 1977. She was also active in the LAPM Unit under The Sovereign Grand Lodge and Rebekah Assembly I.O.O.F., State of New York since Dec. 5, 1963.

GLENS FALLS - Helen Miner, 84, of Glens Falls, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at her home in Glens Falls.
Services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at a time to be announced at the Sullivan-Minahan & Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury.
Calling hours will be Saturday prior to the service.
Doris Helena Hayes
BRANT LAKE - Doris Helena Hayes, 88, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at Westmount Health Facility in Queensbury.
Born Aug. 17, 1920, in Brant Lake, she is the daughter of the late Bert and Mabel (Kingsley) Sweet.
Mrs. Hayes was an active member of Horicon Baptist Church. She was a member of the Church Ladies Aid, superintendent of the Sunday school and was a Sunday school teacher. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Robert R. Byers
OLDSMAR, Fla. - Robert R. Byers, 98, of Oldsmar, Fla., formerly of Glens Falls, passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Meese-Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor, Fla.
Born in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on Aug. 12, 1910, he was the son of Gilbert and Ollie (Wible) Byers of Fort Edward, N.Y.
In his late teens, Bob worked for his uncle, Lester Wible. Bob owned and operated "The New Venus" restaurant and bar and managed "The Wonder Bar" (Maple Street in Glens Falls) for Frank Scully. He then worked for Colony Liquor and Wine Distributors, Menands, N.Y. for more than 30 years. He also sold real estate for James Scellen and often tended bar at private parties such as Sen. Nathan Proller's annual Christmas party.

ALBANY - Elaine M. Cole, 82, of Monroe, N.C., formerly of Albany, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, after a brief illness.

Walter R. Griffen
Saratoga Springs -- Walter R. Griffen, 81, of Southard Road, Saratoga Springs, N.Y. passed away on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008.
Born on Nov. 1, 1926 to Ruth Mary (Peterson) and Isaac Edward Griffen, Walt attended Saratoga Springs schools, graduating in 1944. Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1946, he attended Oswego State Teacher's College, graduating in 1952. He later completed a master's degree at Syracuse University. Walt taught Industrial Arts in the Clyde, N.Y. school system for 32 years.
On April 10, 1950, Walt married Joyce Marriott of Plattsburg, N.Y. They made their home, and raised their family in Clyde, N.Y. where they were active members of the community. Joyce predeceased Walt on March 2, 1979. Walt returned to the Saratoga area following his retirement in 1982.
Michael W. Oddy
St. Albans, Vt. and South Glens Falls -- Michael W. Oddy, age 66, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008 at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born in South Glens Falls, N.Y., Jan 23. 1942, son of the late William and Mary Ann (Douglas) Oddy. He graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1959 and went on to study law.
He joined the U.S. Air Force, having served over 20 years, serving on the inspector general team for the USAF and in Nebraska served in the Strategic Air Command Party during the Cold War. Upon return to Vermont he taught in the ROTC program at St. Michael's College.

Glens Falls -- Helen E. Miner, 84, of Glens Falls passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 at her home.
Born May 8, 1924 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (Harrington) Hoag.
She was a graduate of Glens Falls High School.
Ethel Francis Gunther
Hague and Tucson, Ariz., - Ethel Francis Gunther, 87, of Hague, N.Y. and Tucson, Ariz., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 at the Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga.
Born, April 2, 1921, in Queens, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Grundman and Louise (Gerlock) Grundman.
Ethel Gunther graduated in 1939 from Congers, New York High School. In 1940, she attended Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing and obtained her R.N.
Carroll G. Hutt
Hadley -- Carroll G. Hutt, 76, of North Shore Road, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 at Glens Falls Hopital following a brief illnesss.
Born on July 29, 1932 in Ogdensburg, he was the son of the late McGuire and Helen (Fyles) Hutt.
Mr. Hutt graduated from Central Tech High School in Syracuse.
