William Daniels Jr.
ALVARADO, Texas — William A. Daniels Jr., 64, of Alvarado, Texas, and formerly of the Tri-Towns area passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, in Forth Worth, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, from the East Guilford Presbyterian Church, East Guilford, N.Y., with the Rev. Allen Presby, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Memorial gifts in William's name may be directed to the East Guilford Presbyterian Church.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, N.Y.
Everett C. Jester
OTEGO — Everett C. Jester, 75, of Otego, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, after a short illness at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
He was born Sept. 14, 1925, in Otego, the son of Arthur and Anna M. (Chamberlain) Jester.
He married Doris E. Wright on July 19, 1947, in Otego. She survives.
Everett was a lifelong area resident of Otego and had been married for 54 years.
Everett worked as a carpenter for years and had also worked with the late Charles Stevens of Otego. He loved to work with wood and also enjoyed working in the woods. He spent eight years as a custodian in Unadilla Elementary School before retiring after he got hurt.
He was an Otego firefighter for 48 years.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Otego; two sons and daughters-in-law, Everett Jester and his wife, Rose Marie Jester of Thorotosassa, Fla., and Gary C. Jester and his wife, Chris Jester of Exeter, Pa.; two grandsons, Eric Ashley and his wife, Lori of Georgia, and Mike Jester and his wife, Serena Jester of Oneonta; two granddaughters, Susan Bartoil and her husband, Matt Bartoil of Pennsylvania and Jennifer Jester of Newark, Del.; and five great-grandchildren.
Everett was predeceased by three brothers, Ralph, Glenn and Clark Jester; a daughter, Shirley Ashley; and a granddaughter, Tracy Ashley.
There will be no funeral service or calling hours. Everett will be cremated at the Hillington Crematory, Morris, and his cremains interred at Otego Evergreen Cemetery, Otego, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Otego Emergency Squad, River Street, Otego, NY 13825 in memory of Everett C. Jester.

Lyman Townsend
ROCHESTER — Lyman Bass Townsend Sr. died on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, in Rochester, after a lengthy illness.
He was born on Jan. 1, 1932, in Buffalo, the son of the late Frederic dePeyster Townsend and the late Susan Bass Townsend of Buffalo and Cooperstown. He was the grandson of Katherine Townsend Chapman of Cooperstown.
Mr. Townsend was a graduate of the Nichols School, Buffalo, N.Y., and the University of Virginia, Class of 1954.
He retired from the United States Navy as a Lt. j.g. in 1957.
He was an electronics engineer representative with the R.W. Mitscher and Co. for many years in Buffalo and Rochester. After his retirement, he was a volunteer consultant with S.C.O.R.E., the Service Corporation of Retired Executives.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Coddington Townsend of Pittsford; and his three children by a former marriage to Mrs. Lucy Battel Hamilton, Ms. Lucy Townsend Wheler of Cazenovia, Mrs. Shelley Townsend Graham of Ossining and Mr. Lyman Bass Townsend Jr. of Cooperstown.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Lucy (Walker), James, and Walter (Ted) Irving of Cazenovia, Nicholas, Katheryn, and Leigh Graham of Ossining, and Pamela, Holland and Lyman Bass Townsend III of Cooperstown.
He is also survived by one sister, Susanne Townsend of Hamden, Conn.; and three stepchildren, Jonathan Willson, Caroline Hendrie and David Willson.
A memorial service will be held at his childhood summer home at Brookwood Point on Otsego Lake. The ceremony will be in the gardens on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Canon George French officiating. A private burial will be at a later date in Easton, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of one's choice.
Louise H. Robinson
FRANKLIN — Louise H. Robinson, 67, of Franklin, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at the Albany Medical Center.
She was born on June 23, 1934, in Franklin, the daughter of Lloyd and Bertha (Petersen) Hartwell.
She married Gerald W. "Pete" Robinson in Franklin, and on Nov. 24, 2001, they would have celebrated their 50 anniversary.
She was a member of the Franklin Community Bible Church (formerly the Congregational Baptist Church).
For many years, Louise was active in the Susquehanna quilters group. As an avid quilter, she made quilts for each member of her family and enjoyed displaying her work at many area shows.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Louise is survived by her husband, Gerald W. "Pete" Robinson of Franklin; her children and their spouses, Christine and Keith Esolen of Hancock, Timothy and Toni Robinson of Franklin, Richard and Lori Robinson of Newport News, Va., and Douglas and Liset Robinson of Tucker, Ga.; and a sister and her husband, Lois C. and Edmund Brandow of Franklin. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Louise H. Robinson will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at 4 p.m. in the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home in Franklin, with the Rev. Lyle Linder, pastor of the Franklin United Methodist Church, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin Emergency Squad, Franklin, NY 13775.

Gertrude Truckenbrodt
STAMFORD — Gertrude Truckenbrodt, 97, of Stamford, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Robinson Terrace in Stamford. She was a resident since Jan. 29, 1996.
She was born May 8, 1904, in Germany.
She married Wilhelm Truckenbrodt. He died several years ago.
She was a homemaker in her own home.
She is survived by one son, Edgar Truckenbrodt of Roxbury; three grandsons, John, Edward and Allen Truckenbrodt; and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at 7 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury with the Very Rev. Robert H. Purcell officiating. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2001.
Entrusted to Hillington Crematory in Morris.

Joseph Pizzolongo
FRANKLIN — Joseph Pizzolongo, 88, of Franklin, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
He was born July 11, 1913, in the Bronx, the son of Pasquale and Mary (Aulita) Pizzolongo.
He married Eileen Rowbottom on Sept. 8, 1944, in Northwich, England. She died on July 27, 2001.
He was veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army.
Joe was a retired bricklayer working on various construction projects. An area resident for 20 years, he was a member of the Franklin American Legion.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Joseph Pizzolongo of Franklin, Theresa and Andrew Rieder of Hawthorn Woods, Ill., and Martin and Susan Pizzolongo of Rochelle Park, N.J.; four grandchildren; his sisters, Angie Pedersen and Lucy Fedor of Anderson, S.C.; along with several nieces and one nephew.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Michael Donnell of Sacred Heart Church in Sidney officiating.
Burial will be in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home at which time the family will be in attendance.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin Emergency Squad or the Franklin American Legion.

Robert J. Theimer
BAINBRIDGE — Robert J. Theimer, 61, of state Highway 7, Bainbridge, N.Y., passed away peacefully Friday morning Sept. 7, 2001, at his residence.
He was born May 16, 1940, in Middletown, N.Y., the son of the late Walter J. and Zoe Wood Theimer.
On Feb. 6, 1965, he married Sandra Nelson in Sea Cliff, N.Y.
Robert was a general foreman at Amphenol Corp., retiring in February of 1990 after 27 years with the company.
Bob was well known for his hobby as a Mack truck collector. In retirement, he especially enjoyed traveling with his wife Sandy across this country to various truck shows. There he would renew old friendships and make new acquaintances.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Theimer of Bainbridge; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Edwin and Imogene Nelson of Cherry Valley, N.Y. Several cousins also survive.
At Bob's request private funeral services will be held at his family's convenience.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla, N.Y.

Marion H. Manion
COOPERSTOWN — Marion H. Manion, 83, formerly of Cape Cod and North Adams, Mass., died early Sunday morning, Sept. 9, 2001, at her daughter's home in Cooperstown.
She was born on Aug. 3, 1918, in Ilion, a daughter of Adelbert and Emma (Schultz) Hemstreet.
She married Robert M. Manion on Oct. 16, 1937, in Herkimer County. Mr. Manion died Dec. 24, 1971.
Raised in Ilion, Marion graduated from Ilion High School and later attended Cortland Normal School.
In 1942, Marion and her husband moved to North Adams, Mass., where she was employed for more than 30 years in human resources management for the Sprague Electric Co. Upon her retirement, she moved to Brewster, Mass., on Cape Cod and then moved in October 2000, to live with her daughter in Cooperstown.
While living in North Adams, Mass., Marion was actively involved in scouting and at one time served as commissioner of the Girl Scouts. She was equally as active in the United Way and served as director of fund-raising campaigns until 1990.
She was also a member of the North Adams Baptist Church.
Marion, or "Nonni," as she was affectionately known by her children and grandchildren, will always be remembered for her accomplishments, notably her skills in knitting and especially for her working and raising four children as a single mother.
Marion is survived by two daughters, Barbara Whitman of Seattle, Wash., and Dr. Patricia M. Mower and her husband, Philip, of Cooperstown; one son, J. David Manion of Adams, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Diane Brozofsky-Bohan of Anchorage, Alaska, Susan Falk of Seattle, Wash., Judi Whitman of Everett, Wash., Amy Van Kampen of Cooperstown, David H. Mower of Cape May, N.J., Sarah Manion of Brewster, Mass., and Rebecca Morozuk of Bristol, Conn.; six great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Frances Manion of Brewster, Mass.; and two nieces.
She was predeceased by one son, Robert M. Manion Jr., who died in 1992; and one brother, Harold S. Hemstreet, who died in 1999.
A memorial service with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at Christ Episcopal Church in Cooperstown, with the Rev. Douglas C. Smith, rector, officiating. Entombment in Christ Church-yard will be at a later date.
Friends may call at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown on Tuesday evening, Sept. 11, 2001, from 7 to 9, when Marion's family will be in attendance.

James A. Gaughan
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — James A. Gaughan Jr., 66, of San Diego, Calif., passed away Aug. 17, 2001, in San Diego, with his family at his side.
He was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Oneonta, N.Y., the son of the late Emily and James Gaughan Sr.
He attended school in Cooperstown, N.Y., and Milford, N.Y. He worked at Bel-Air Ski Tow before entering the United States Navy. He retired from the U.S. Navy after serving about 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; son, James III; daughter and son-in-law, Karena and Brian Dingman, all of California; stepmother, Arlene Gaughan of Middlefield, N.Y.; one brother, William; sister and brother-in-law, Margot and William Norman of Schenectady, N.Y.; three half-sisters, Sharon Curcio, Judy and Dennis Baker, both of Cooperstown and Barbara and Richard Hoag of Middlefield; one half-brother, Charles and Vicky Gaughan of Cherry Valley, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Gaughan, in 1956.
Marjorie Whiteman
MIDDLEFIELD — Marjorie H. Whiteman, 86, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Friday evening, Sept. 7, 2001, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
She was born May 6, 1915, in Middlefield, the daughter of Ira and Emily (Denton) Hubbard.
After completing her education in area schools, she carried on the family tradition of farming.
She married Clifford Whiteman on Jan. 1, 1935, in Schenevus. They owned and operated the Hubbards Falls Farm in Middlefield. He predeceased her on April 15, 1995.
She was a member of the Middlefield Baptist Church and served many years as an inspector of elections for the Middlefield Election District.
She is survived by a daughter, Emily Rhoda Whiteman Corkwell of Middlefield; five nieces, Winifred Buckingham of Croghan, Emily Longtin of Otego, Joan Wilkinson of South Elgin, Ill., Golda Fairchild of New Jersey, Ethelyn Ottzen of Otego; six nephews, Robert Evans of Bainbridge, Oakley Whiteman of Westville, Wendall Whiteman of Roseboom, Geary Whiteman of Schenevus, Lawrence Roseboom of Westford and Herbert Roseboom of East Worcester; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Ethelyn Roseboom, Marion Whiteman and Beatrice Evans.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Middlefield Cemetery, with the Rev. Ron Fralick, pastor of the Middlefield churches, officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church of Middlefield.
Funeral arrangements are by the Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.
Noelle L. Lusins
ONEONTA — Noelle Louise Lusins, 34, of Oneonta, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Sept. 8, 2001, at the A.O. Fox Hospital Nursing Home after a long illness.
She had been a resident of Oneonta since 1983.
She was born Oct. 18, 1966, in Albany, the daughter of Anna Marie Lusins and the late Dr. John O. Lusins.
She attended the Barnard School for Girls and graduated from a Laurens Central School special education class.
The Noelle Lusins scholarship is given each year to a student at Laurens Central School who volunteers in the Special Education Program.
Noelle resided at the ARC Otsego for five years, and her family would like to thank the ARC and her caregivers, in particular Tim Spoor, Sue Norton, Wanda Briley and Annie Fredenburgh, for their love and care for her during that period.
Noelle is survived by her mother, Anna Marie Lusins, of Oneonta; a sister, Gillian Marie Lusins, of New York, N.Y.; brothers, Carl Baessler Lusins, his wife, Jennifer Lucille Lusins and their son, Alexander Lusins, John O. Lusins III and Matthew Ronald Lusins.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, with Fr. Paul Roman officiating.
