Helen Kehoe

ROTTERDAM JUNCTION — Mrs. Helen Petty Kehoe, 78, of Market Street, died at home Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001.

Mrs. Kehoe was born in Troy. She had lived in Rotterdam Junction since 1964. Before that, she resided in the Ballston Spa area.

Mrs. Kehoe was a graduate of Ballston Spa High School.

She was a member of St. Margaret of Cortona Church and its Rosary Society.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, John A. Kehoe; two daughters, Kathleen Turczyn of Saugerties and Patricia Anwari of Clinton, Conn.; seven sons, Robert Scott of Mayfield, Douglas Scott of Long Island City, Malcolm Scott and James Kehoe, both of Scotia, John Kehoe Jr. of Jacksonville, Ark., Paul Kehoe of Amsterdam and Peter Kehoe of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, Paul Petty of Ballston Spa; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 8:45 a.m. Thursday at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.

Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Contributions in Mrs. Kehoe's memory may be made to St. Margaret of Cortona Church, Main Street, Rotterdam Junction, NY 12150, or to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308, or to the Rotterdam Junction Volunteer Fire Department.

Norma Swift

ONEONTA — A memorial service for Norma W. (Mrs. Frederic Fay) Swift, formerly of Oneonta, who died Sept. 16, 2001, in Rochester, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at the First Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Oneonta.

A coffee hour sponsored by the church will begin at noon before the service with interment of her ashes following at Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Alfred B. Burton

WORCESTER — After a wonderful journey, Alfred B. Burton, 60, went to be with his loved ones on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001.

He was born Jan. 21, 1941, in Worcester, the son of Alfred and Mina (Morell) Burton.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, starting at 4 p.m. at his home in Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in loving memory of Alfred to the Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 155 Main St., Worcester.

Eleanor Gladstone

SIDNEY — Eleanor Gladstone, 85, of 6 Smith St., Sidney, passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, Sept. 24, 2001, at The Hospital, Sidney.

She was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Hartford, Conn., the daughter of the late Lee and Georgia  Jones Wannemacher.

On Feb. 7, 1942, Eleanor married Richard Gladstone in Walton. He predeceased her on Sept. 3, 1966.

For several years she was employed by Don D'Imperio's Grocery and Sub Shop of Sidney. Mrs. Gladstone retired from The Hospital, Sidney, in January of 1979.

Eleanor was an active member of the United Methodist Church, Sidney.

She is survived by several cousins, Irwin Waring, Helen Hoffman and Alberta Davis. She is also survived by numerous close friends, Nina Panaro, Darlene Faigle, Francis and Agnes Faigle, Star Hedman, Bea Wayman and Jane Roselle.

Her sister, Vivian Stidd; and her closest friend, Elizabeth Robertson predeceased her.

Funeral and committal services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, from the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, with the Rev. David Masland, pastor of her church, officiating.

Burial will be in the Walton Cemetery, Walton.

At Eleanor's request there will be no calling hours.

Memorial gifts in her name may be directed to the Sidney United Methodist Church, Liberty Street, Sidney, NY 13838 or to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, East Main Street, Sidney, NY 13838.

William R. Carter

SPRINGFIELD — William R. Carter, 73, of East Springfield, passed away of natural causes on Sept. 20, 2001, at his home.

He was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Oswego.

He was predeceased by his parents, Helen Rathbun and Charles Carter; sisters, Anita Carter, Elizabeth Archer, Mildred Duffy and Florence Garling; and his brothers, Wendell Carter and John Carter.

Two brothers, Benjamin Carter of DeLand, Fla., and James Carter of Liverpool, survive him.

He married Laura McShane on Sept. 2, 1950. Their four children are Daniel R. Carter, who resides in Little Falls, with his son, Dillon Andrew Carter, Wendell Scott Carter, his wife, Cynthia and their sons, Calvin, Christopher and William Cameron Carter of Woodson Terrace, Mo., Andrew E. Carter of Ventura,  Calif., and Laura J. Sikkema and her children, Amanda, Ashley and Lucas Sikkema of Springfield Center.

He was a veteran, serving in the Navy in World War II.

He retired from Beechnut, Canajoharie. He was an artist who enjoyed building and creating, as well as painting; he enjoyed playing cards and loved the outdoors and nature.

During his life he contributed time to help the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield and the Glimmerglass Opera House.

The family will be present in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs, to receive relatives and friends on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, with the Rev. Susan Burdsall, pastor, officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Springfield First Responders with the Springfield Fire Department.

Jerome Loffman

MARGARETVILLE — Jerome (Jerry) Loffman, 76, of Margaretville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at the Countryside Center in Delhi.

He was born May 8, 1925, in Woodhaven, the son of Charles and Mabel (Abrams) Loffman.

He married Dorothy Vessels on April 24, 1965, in Yonkers. She died May 4, 1985.

He was in the United States Navy, became a parachute rigger and served on a U.S. Naval Air Station in England from June 1944 to September 1945. The outfit was called Fleet Air Wing #7. The object of the station was to patrol all of the Biscay Bay area off of France.

After the war, Jerry became a production planner and worked for a few electric companies. Following that work he was employed for the U.S. Postal Service.

He has been an area resident since 1981, living in Denver and Margaretville.

He graduated from Richmond Hill High School and his favorite subject was journalism.

He is survived by one brother, Lawrence Loffman of Michigan; and a niece, Barbara Smith of Michigan.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at the Roxbury Cemetery, Roxbury, with the Rev. Richard L. Price officiating. Burial will be in Roxbury Cemetery, Roxbury.

Contributions may be made in memory of Jerry Loffman to the Ambulance Fund of the Margaretville Memorial Hospital, Margaretville, NY 12455.

Arrangements are by Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury.

Marjorie Kohlmeyer

HUNTINGTOWN, Md. — Marjorie E. Kohlmeyer, 77, of Huntingtown, Md., passed away Aug. 29, 2001, in Huntingtown, Md.

She was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Arlington, Mass.

She worked in the medical records department at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, N.Y.

She is survived by her daughter and husband, Nancy and Matthew Huchla; two grandchildren, James and Daniel; brother and wife, Emery and Elizabeth Battis; sister and husband, Carol and Joseph Paradis; sisters-in-law, Harriette Battis, Ruth Battis and Patricia Battis; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Kohlmeyer; brothers, Floyd Battis, Robert Battis and Richard Battis.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta, with the Rev. William D. Bouton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association or Hospice.

Norma Swift

Isabel Delameter

HAMDEN — Isabel Sophronia Conklin Delameter, 92, of Hamden, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, peacefully surrounded by her family at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

She was born April 23, 1909, in Roscoe, the daughter of Samuel A. and Mary Margaret (York) Conklin.

Mrs. Delameter graduated from Roscoe Central School in 1926.

May 12, 1929, she married Abram Delameter at the Advent Christian Church in Arena.

Isabel was the oldest member of the Presbyterian Church of DeLancey.

She was a wife, mother and grandmother, loved by all. Her family, church, the Lord, flowers and birds were her special passions. All who knew her will sadly miss her.

A daughter and her husband, Judith and Bill Carr of Franklin; a sister, Virginia Barnhart of Masonville; 17 grandchildren, Joni Beth (Townsend) Walling, Julie Margot (Townsend) Gloster, Jon-Andrew Townsend, Jo-Ellen (Townsend) Reeder, Joel-David Townsend, Jennifer Nell (Townsend) Soules, Donna Lee Delameter, Cindy Lou Delameter, Melinda Jean Delameter, Dawn Charlotte Delameter, Tammy Delameter, Virginia Lee Delameter, David Delameter, Donald Delameter and Danny Delameter; 36 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews survive.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Abram, in 1966; sons, Donald Abram in 1978, David Samuel in 1964 and Andrew James in 1958; a grandson, James Abram in 1994; and a sister, Vivian Connolly.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the DeLancey Presbyterian Church in DeLancey, with the Rev. Adrian McFarlane officiating. Calling hours will be Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, located at 131 Main St. in Delhi. Burial will follow at Hamden Cemetery in Hamden.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the DeLancey Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home of Delhi.

Robert 'Bob' Storm

OTSDAWA — Robert F. "Bob" Storm, 87, of Otsdawa, town of Otego, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at his home.

He was born Feb. 3, 1914, in Nuangola, Pa., the son of Andrew and Rosamund (Stackhouse) Storm, and spent his early years in  Pennsylvania.

He later moved to Oneonta and graduated from Oneonta High School in 1934.

He served in the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) in Company 212, Camp SP II, and worked on the construction of the Gilbert Lake State Park recreation area.

He married Virginia L. Holbrook on July 31, 1938, in Auburn, and they made their home on the Otsdawa for more than 50 years. She died on July 20, 1997.

Mr. Storm was a longtime employee of Bendix-Scintilla in Sidney, retiring in 1979, and a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers #1529.

He was an avid outdoorsman and belonged to the Gilbertsville Rod and Gun Club, the Klipnockie Beagle Club and the NRA.

He was also a member of Lodge #282 F.&A.M. in Otego.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Bryson George and Perry Storm; and two sisters, Rachel Lang and Frances Woodford.

He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, and a sister-in-law, Janet Prentice of Greene.

In accordance with Mr. Storm's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Mr. and Mrs. Storm will be interred in the Plains Cemetery in Oneonta.

Expressions of sympathy in Mr. Storm's memory may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820, or the Blind Work Association Inc., 55  Washington St., Binghamton, NY 13901-3770.

Arrangements are by Bookhout Funeral Homes of Oneonta and Otego.

Thelma P. Blessing

NEW BERLIN — Thelma P. Blessing, 93, of New Berlin, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, in Norwich.

She was born Dec. 9, 1907, in North Norwich, the daughter of Earl and Hattie (Merritt) Sutton.

She married Rudolf Blessing on Feb. 12, 1927. He died May 6, 1983.

She spent her childhood in New Berlin.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by one son, George Blessing of Canastota; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Harriett) Guinn of Norwich; five grandchildren, Ted and Cindy Guinn, Gary and Polly Guinn, Susan and David Martin, Lori and Jeff Blessing and Jim and Carol Blessing; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille Coyne of New Berlin.

She worked for Dykes Drug Store in New Berlin.

She was a member for 50 years of the First United Methodist Church in New Berlin.

Calling hours will be Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, from 1 to 2 p.m. proceeding the funeral at the Dakin Funeral Home in New Berlin.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the Dakin Funeral Home in New Berlin, with the Rev. Beverly Butler of the First United Methodist Church in New Berlin, officiating.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in New Berlin.

Funeral arrangements are by Dakin Funeral Home of New Berlin.

Theresa R. Ertola

SIDNEY CENTER — Theresa R. Ertola, 74, of state Highway 206, Sidney Center, passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 27, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 1, 1927, in Jamaica, the daughter of the late Paul and Marcyanna Szurnicki Sawicki.

On Feb. 26, 1949, she married Elwin H. Ertola in Jamaica.

Theresa was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Bainbridge.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Elwin H. Ertola; daughter, Marcia Ertola of Sidney Center; two sons and daughter-in-law, Peter and Deborah Ertola of  Pennsylvania and Anthony Ertola of Selden; and a sister, Antoinette Sawicki of Elmhurst. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Marie Wisnowski, and a son, Frederick Ertola, predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, from St. John's Church in Bainbridge, with the Rev. Fr. Donald Bourgeois, pastor, officiating. Burial will be Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, in Mount St. Mary's Cemetery in Flushing.

Friends are invited to call from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, at 21 Main St. in Sidney.
