Willard Bisnett

ALBANY — Willard Bisnett, 68, of Albany, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at Sam Stratton VA Medical Center, after a long illness.

He was born in Hartford, Conn. He lived most of his life in Oneonta.

He graduated from Oneonta High School in 1956.

He served in the United States Air Force as sergeant from 1950-1954. He was a disabled veteran.

He was a Roman Catholic.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Bisnett; four cousins, Charles Abba, Robert Abba, Dorothea Baumgartner, all of Largo, Fla., and Ed Arnold of Hacienda Heights,  Calif.; and one aunt, Theresa Arnold of Schenectady.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at 11:30 a.m. at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.

Funeral arrangements by Feeley-Nuzback Funeral Home, Scotia.

Dorothy D'Amico

COOPERSTOWN — Mrs. Dorothy D'Amico, 85, of Cooperstown, and formerly of Huntington, Long Island, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 24, 2001, at her son's home in Cooperstown.

She was born on June 9, 1916, in Hartley, Del., a daughter of Herman and Doris (Vetter) Seebeck.

She married Salvatore D'Amico on June 14, 1947, in Ozone Park, Queens. Mr. D'Amico died in January 1981.

Upon graduating from high school, Mrs. D'Amico, moved to New York City where she was employed as a model.

She later moved to Merrick, Long Island, eventually settling in Huntington. In 1992, she moved to Cooperstown and lived near Five Mile Point on Otsego Lake.

An avid golfer, Mrs. D'Amico played every chance she got and was a subscriber at the Leatherstocking Golf Course in Cooperstown. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the country in her car.

In celebration of her life, Mrs. D'Amico's family asks that you smile, laugh and befriend one another, offer acts of kindness to others and in everything that you do, live life to the fullest.

She is survived by three children, Concetta D'Amico of Clearmont, Fla., Robert J. D'Amico and his wife, Marcia, of Cooperstown, and Lisa Carriero of Danbury, Conn.; four grandchildren, David and Steven D'Amico and Catherine and Allison Carriero; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Teresa and Nicholas Mamo, of Merrick, Long Island; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown this afternoon, Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, from 5 to 7 p.m. when Mrs. D'Amico's family will be in attendance.

On Long Island, friends may call at the Franklin Funeral Home, 42 New Hyde Park Road, Franklin Square, on Friday, from 7 to 9 p.m. when Mrs. D'Amico's family will be in attendance.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at St. Catherine Roman Catholic Church in Franklin Square. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial gifts may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820 or a charity of one's choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.

Howard C. Kelly

MARGARETVILLE — Howard C. Kelly, 85, of Margaretville, died Oct. 24, 2001, in the Margaretville Memorial Hospital, Margaretville.

He was born June 5, 1916, Redkill Valley, town of Roxbury, the son of Carson and Edith (Kittle) Kelly.

His first marriage was to Kathleen Ballard on June 4, 1936. She died Feb. 18, 1992. His second marriage was to Viola Finch Avery on March 27, 1996, in Stamford.

Howard worked in the lumber business for 42 years before retiring from Briggs Lumber Co., Roxbury, in 1980.

He was a lifelong area resident.

He was a member of Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church in Roxbury and a past member of the Halcottsville Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Viola Kelly of Margaretville; brother, Hilton Kelly of Fleischmanns; sister, Helen Finch of Margaretville; stepdaughter, Vivian Blakeslee of Delhi; and stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at the Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church in Roxbury, with the Rev. Richard Dykstra officiating.

Burial will be in Bedell Cemetery, Fleischmanns.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are by Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Julia Maginley

MARYLAND — Julia Maginley of R.D. #1 (Happy Valley) Maryland, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at FoxCare in Oneonta.

She was born Aug. 13, 1914 in Dunmore, Pa., the daughter of Louis and Lillian Teleky.

She married Francis K. (Mac) Maginley on Nov. 28, 1935.

She had been employed at the Electrical Components Division of Bendix Corp. at Sidney for 17 years.

She was a member of the Portlandville Methodist Church and the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers, Local 1529.

There will be no public service or calling hours.

Burial of cremated remains will be in family plot in Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.

She is survived by a brother, Edward Teleky; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Floyd Manchester

EAST WORCESTER — Floyd Manchester, 90, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.

He was born Dec. 30, 1910, in Cobleskill, the son of Daniel and Sylvia (Warner) Manchester.

He was married to Anna Sperbeck for 63 years. She died on Oct. 23, 1995.

Mr. Manchester lived in East Worcester for 51 years.

He was a past member of the Richmondville and East Worcester Fire Departments. He also a past member of the East Worcester Fish and Game Club, as well as several Schoharie County fish and game clubs. He operated Woodchuck Hollow Game Preserve from 1942 to 1995.

Mr. Manchester was a sheet metal worker and assembler. He worked for Harders Refrigeration in Cobleskill for several years. He was then employed at Medical Coaches in Oneonta, where he retired in 1973.

He is survived by his son, Harold W. Manchester of Richmondville; a daughter, Harriet McHargue of Cobleskill; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leon Manchester of Floral City, Fla., and Laverne Manchester of Warsaw; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a son, Harry D. Manchester in 1967; and several brothers and sisters.

At Mr. Manchester's request, he was cremated and a graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001 at the East Worcester Cemetery with the Rev. Warren Babcock officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to East Worcester First Responders, P.O. Box 781, East Worcester, NY 12064.

Funeral arrangements are by E.J. Skinner Co., 155 Main St., Worcester.

Shirley V. Wadler

HIGHMOUNT — Shirley V. Wadler, 69, of Barley Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at Sloan-Kettering Memorial Hospital in Manhattan.

She was an area resident for the past 46 years and taught elementary school in both the Fleischmanns and Onteora Central School Systems.

She graduated from Russell Sage College, and earned her master's degree at the University of Michigan. She taught English, as well as Spanish and French.

She was a member of the Fleischmanns school board, and also a member of the Coalition to Save Belleayre.

Mrs. Wadler was an avid skier, and took great joy in tending her gardens. She was a talented knitter and quilter.

She was a member of a Catskill Mountain Quilting Circle, and the Fleischmanns Book Review Club.

She had quite a distinction for her abilities to cook and bake, and was a loving wife and mother. She was focused on her family, friends and community.

She was born March 26, 1932, in Albany, daughter of the late Ben and Anna Stone Ginsburg.

Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Herman of Highmount; two sons, Jason and Steven; a daughter, Lisa Wadler; daughter-in-law, Jaren Wadler; grandson, Alex; three sisters, Ada Parnes, Eleanor Wisen and Lois Apfelvaum; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Wadler and Jean Ginsburg; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the B'nai Israel Synagogue on Wagner Avenue in Fleischmanns.

Burial will immediately follow in the B'nai Israel Cemetery in Clovesville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 3 Forest St., New Canaan, Conn. 06840 or the International Myeloma Foundation, 12650 Riverside Dr. 260, N. Hollywood,  Calif. 91607.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the E.B. Gormley Funeral Home, Main Street, Phoenicia.

Fred Layton

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Fred (Butch) Layton, 61, passed away at home in Port Charlotte, Fla., on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, after a long illness.

He was a resident of Davenport for more than 10 years.

Fred was a very likable and caring man, plus a great brother. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

As he always said to me after saying goodbye, I say to him, "Keep your nose to the wind brother."

Gordon More

DAVENPORT CENTER — Gordon More, 65, of Davenport Center, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, in Cobleskill.

He was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Davenport, the son of Harmon and Norma (Wood) More.

A lifetime area resident Gordie served in the United States Army and came home to run his Davenport family farm. After retiring, he worked for USA Custom Pads in Sidney for six years and served as an aide for the Scholastic Bus Co-op in Oneonta.

He was a member of the Otsego County Silver Sluggers softball team and participated in the state tournaments in Florida and Baton Rouge, La.

He also belonged to the Davenport Methodist Church, East Meredith Fire Department, East Meredith Rod and Gun Club and was a veteran of many years playing town-team basketball, baseball and softball.

He married Janet McCulley More in Davenport on Oct. 6, 1957.

She survives him, as do his children, three sons, Randy and Jenniffer More of Cobleskill, Wes and Andrea More of Esperance and Dean More of Davenport Center; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Leigh of Arizona, Mrs. Ralph (Mabel) Hillis of Charlotteville and Miss Lucille More of Arizona; one brother, Harmon (Earl) and Podgie More of Davenport Center; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Davenport Methodist Church, with the Rev. Olu Harding officiating. Burial will be in Davenport Cemetery in Davenport.

There will be no calling hours.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Catskill Area Hospice or Otsego County Silver Sluggers, care of Jeff Gardner, 5974 State Highway 7, Oneonta, NY 13820.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home of Davenport.

Mildred E. Elliott

DELHI — Mildred E. Elliott, 96, of Delhi, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at the Countryside Care Center in Delhi.

She was born Oct. 1, 1905, on Irish Hill, in the town of Meredith, the daughter of Clarence W. and Alice J. (Brownell) Moscrip.

She married Charles B. Elliott in West Kortright on Oct. 1, 1927. He predeceased her on May 11, 1967.

Mildred was a fine seamstress, and enjoyed sewing and crafts and worked at the Delhi Specialty Shop.

She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church (United Ministry) of Delhi.

Surviving are her sister, Gladys Seinfeld of Newburgh; four nieces, Marcia Wheeler of Oneonta, Sandra Wheeler of Brighton, Mass., Donna Moscrip Braun and family of Annadale, Va., and Dawn Wheeler of Maryland; and a nephew, David Moscrip and family of Matthews, N.C.

Services will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home in Delhi. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Delhi.

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet and Son of Delhi.

Stephen Doroski

DAVENPORT CENTER — Stephen Doroski, 95, of Davenport Center, died Oct. 25, 2001, at Delaware County Countryside Care in Delhi.

He was born May 24, 1906, in Bloomville, the son of Joseph and Lucy Kosier Doroski.

He married Blanche Marschilok on Nov. 27, 1925, in Hobart. She died Feb. 23, 2001.

Mr. Doroski owned and operated his dairy farm in Davenport Center for many years and enjoyed attending farm auctions.

He was especially fond of snowmobiling and four-wheeling with family members.

An avid fisherman, he had many favorite fishing streams.

A daughter, Marjorie Moore of Davenport Center; a son, John Doroski of Davenport Center; two daughters-in-law, Betty Doroski of Davenport Center and Pat Doroski of Fort Edward; a son-in-law, Carlton Briggs of Davenport Center, 53 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; a sister, Sophie Kosier of Florida; and many nieces and nephews survive.

Two sons, Gene and Francis Doroski, and a daughter, Helen Briggs, predeceased him.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home in Davenport, with the Rev. Tracie Martin officiating.

Calling hours will be on Friday evening, Oct. 26, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Davenport Cemetery in Davenport.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the East Meredith Emergency Squad.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home of Davenport.

William G. Snyder

MOUNT VISION — William G. Snyder, 77, formerly of Binghamton, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at his home.

He was predeceased by his parents, Cora and Chester Snyder; three brothers, Harold, Chester and Robert; and two sisters, Beverly and Cora.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Mount Vision; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Micha Snyder of Laurens; a daughter, Julie Andrews of Mount Vision; four grandchildren, Joshua and Jamie Snyder and Michael and Katie Andrews; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was a retiree of the Binghamton Psychiatric Center with 30 years of service.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post #1645, Binghamton.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home Inc., at 137 Robinson St. in Binghamton, with the Rev. Paul Towers officiating. Friends are invited to call Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Oneonta Family Practice, care of Fox Hospital Foundation, 1 Norton Dr., Oneonta, NY 13820.
