Michael J. Lujbli

CONESVILLE — Michael J. Lujbli Sr., 60, formerly of Windham, died Oct. 29, 2001, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born Feb. 15, 1941, in the Bronx.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Adriene (Thorington); his children, Craig and Kathy Lujbli of Wallkill, Daniel Lujbli of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Jennifer Lujbli of Ocala, Fla., MJ Lujbli of Conesville, Jamie Thorington of Rome and Amy Lujbli of Ludlow, Ky.; and two grandchildren, Robert Lujbli of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Madison Narolis of Rome.

Michael was a member of the St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church of Grand Gorge.

Michael will be missed for his unique attitude.

Friends may call Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home at 40 Main St., Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Anthony Ligato at the Sacred Heart RCC in Stamford at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hall Funeral Home under the direction of William A. Tari.

Donald R. Savage

STAMFORD — Donald R. Savage, 84, died Oct. 30, 2001, at Robinson Terrace in Stamford.

He was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Plattsburgh, the son of William and Margaret (Carver) Savage.

He married Eileen Jacobs on Oct. 8, 1939, in Plattsburgh. She survives him.

He was a World War II veteran and was the parts manager at Pinder's Garage in Grand Gorge.

There will be no services; burial will take place at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Emmy J. Anderson

UNADILLA — Emmy J. Anderson, 75, of Rod and Gun Club Road, Unadilla, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, Oct. 31, 2001, at Wilson Memorial Hospital,  Johnson City.

She was born April 9, 1926, in Fehmarn, Germany, the daughter of the late Otto and Emma Wiechelmehn Broschatt.

On Jan. 25, 1948, she married Augustus Anderson in Garrison. He predeceased her on April 13, 1990.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Lorraine Anderson of Wallingford, Conn., and Gary and Robin Anderson of Sidney; daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Richard Hennessey of Ballston Spa; sister, Hilda Pang of Pearl City, Hawaii; brother, Otto Borscht of Fehmarn, Germany; six grandchildren, Jessica, Christopher, David, Mary, Christine Anderson and Morgan Hennessey. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, from the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, with the Rev. David Masland, pastor of the Sidney United Methodist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at the Schrub Oak Cemetery, Schrub Oak, with the Rev. Jacob S. Dharmaraj, pastor of the Schrub Oak United Methodist Church.

Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral chapel.

Memorial gifts in her name may be made directed to the American Cancer Society if desired.

Jodi Lynette Etts

MARGARETVILLE — Jodi Lynette Etts, 32, of Margaretville, passed away Oct. 30, 2001, in Wilson Memorial Hospital,  Johnson City.

She was born March 7, 1969, in Margaretville, the daughter of Kenneth Etts and Judy DeNeve. She was single.

Jodi had been employed by IBM in Kingston, and had also worked for NYSEG in Hamden.

She was a lifelong area resident having lived in Roxbury and Margaretville.

She graduated from Roxbury Central School in 1987, and graduated from the State University College of Technology at Delhi, with an accounting degree and with a bachelor's degree from the State University College at Oneonta.

She always enjoyed flowers.

She is survived by her father, Kenneth Etts of Roxbury; her mother, Judy DeNeve, of Bellview, Fla.; two brothers, Rick and Terry Etts, Florida; maternal grandfather, Harold VanValkenburg, Florida; and friend and companion, Hal Murken of Margaretville.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury, with the Rev. Richard Dykstra, officiating.

Committal services will be private.

Calling hours will be prior to the service on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m.

Jodi would have liked to have us thank her cousin, Nancy St. John and the nursing staff at Wilson Memorial Hospital for the extra ordinary care she received. Bless all of you.

Arrangements are by the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.

Dennis Clark

ONEONTA — Dennis James Clark, 41, of Oneonta, died suddenly Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, in Nyack.

He was born Sept. 24, 1960, in Oneonta, the son of James Clark and Dorothy (Hammond) Clark Whispell.

Dennis was a construction worker and had been working in the Nyack area.

He was a 1979 graduate of Oneonta High School and was a lifelong area resident.

Dennis also had a love for cats and his antique truck.

He is survived by a daughter, Jessica Clark of Delhi; his mother, Dorothy Whispell of Maryland; three sisters, Bonnie Conrow and family of New Berlin, Vivian Hendrickson and family of Maryland, and Heidi Elie and family of Maryland; one stepbrother, Harry L. Whispell II of Oneonta. He is also survived by many friends and several nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by a very close friend, Lydia Wicks, and her family of Oneonta; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, James Clark.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, from the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with Captain Mary Fitch of the Salvation Army, Oneonta, officiating. Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, prior to the service when the family will be present. Cremation will be held at the Hillington Crematory, Morris.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

Kenneth W. Shaver

BAINBRIDGE — Kenneth W. Shaver, 78, of Bainbridge, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Binghamton General Hospital.

He was born May 11, 1923, son of the late George and Flora Seaman Shaver in Bainbridge.

Ken married Virginia Walker on Feb. 9, 1942, in Bainbridge.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea.

Mr. Shaver was the past owner of Shaver's Restaurant in Sidney.

He was a life member of the Charles L. Jacobi American Legion Post No. 183, Sidney.

Ken is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Shaver, Bainbridge; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn W. and Donna Shaver, Fort Worth,  Texas, and Kenneth G. and Karen Shaver, Bainbridge; daughter and son-in-law, Jennie and Doug Merritt, Pittsburgh, Pa.; sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Bastine Delello, Endwell; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

His granddaughter, Kimberly Shaver; one brother; and five sisters predeceased him.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at C.H. Landers Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, at 1 p.m. Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bainbridge Emergency Squad.

Arrangements by C.H. Landers, Inc., Sidney.

James Hinkley

ROXBURY — James Marvin Hinkley, 77, of Roxbury, passed away Nov. 1, 2001, at the Margaretville Memorial Hospital, Margaretville.

He was born March 5, 1924, in Roxbury, the son of Carroll G. Hinkley and Fannie E. Stahl.

He married Elna Peck on Nov. 18, 1942, in Roxbury.

He was a farmer for many years, and retired in 1972. He was a groundskeeper for Shephard Hills Golf Course and also worked for Roxbury Run Development and also Tony's Nursery.

He graduated from Roxbury Central School.

He was Roxbury Town Assesor for four years, past commissioner of the Roxbury Fire District, and a member of the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church, Roxbury.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved sports.

He is survived by his wife, Elna Hinkley, Roxbury; one daughter, Karen Hanor, Petersburg, W.Va.; five grandsons, Tony and Todd Hinkley, Casey, Chris and Curtis Callahan; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Shyla and Troy Hinkley, Corey, Conner, Alannah and Aiden Callahan; one sister, Fern Hale, Downsville; one brother, Francis Hinkley, Oneonta; lifelong friend, Anthony Iacovelli and family of Mamaroneck; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one son, Larry Hinkley on Feb. 17, 2000.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church, Roxbury, with the Rev. Richard Dykstra, officiating.

Committal services will be private.

Contributions may be made in memory of Jim to the Roxbury Ambulance Fund, Roxbury.

Arrangements are by the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.

Hazel L. Kingsley

BALLSTON SPA — Hazel L. Kingsley, 76, of Ballston Spa, died Nov. 1, 2001, at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa.

She was born April 28, 1925, in Kortright.

She moved to Ballston Spa in 1976 from Scotia.

She was an assistant to the manager at Doubleday  Woods Apartment Complex for 12 years and was a homemaker. She was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her children, two sons, Donald Kingsley of Chalton, and Dennis Kingsley of Ballston Spa, four daughters, Drusilla Duval, Waltham, Mass., Donna Putnam of Canajoharie, Dale Carroll of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Diann Knauss of Margate, Fla.; a sister, Irene Ovenstone of Oneonta; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Philip Kingsley, on April 19, 1978; her parents, Leon and Katherine Brownell Burdick; daughter, Dawn Kingsley; brother, Howard Burdick; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at the Mevec Funeral Home, 224 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa, with funeral services at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Bloomville, in the spring.

Memorials may be made to the Maplewood Manor Patient Activities Fund, 149 Ballston Ave., Ballston Spa, NY 12020.

Doris Roe

CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. — Doris Roe, 65, formerly of Oneonta, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, in Eden Springs Nursing Home, Medart, Fla., after a long illness.

She was born Dec. 1, 1935, to Elvira and Howard Knott in Greene. She married Donald Roe Dec. 25, 1952.

She attended Oneonta schools, and worked as a waitress in the Oneonta area most of her life. She moved to Florida in 1996 from Otego where she was a member of the First Christian Church of Otego.

She is survived be her husband, Donald Roe of Crawfordville, Fla.; a son, Don Roe, Jr. of Whitehouse, Tenn.; a brother, Lawrence "Skip" Knott of Elizabethton, Tenn.; a sister, Marian Martin of Crawfordville, Fla.; and two grandsons, Daniel and Stephen Roe.

Plans are being made for a memorial service at Beulah Baptist Church in Crawfordville, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Enrico Blasetti

ONEONTA — Enrico Blasetti, 86, of Oneonta, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at the A.O. Fox Hospital Nursing Home, Oneonta.

He was born March 26, 1915, in Berwick, Pa., the son of Serafino and Saveria (Romiti) Blasetti. He married Anna Giardino on Oct. 25, 1941, in Carbondale, Pa.

Rico retired as a track foreman with the D&H Railroad in 1978, where he worked for many years.

He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Italian American Club, and Council 4989, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Louis and Cheryl Blasetti of Oneonta, Fred and Lorraine Blasetti of Granada Hills,  Calif., Mary Ann and Ron Gleason of Chatham, and Joya and Charles Glad of Lady Lake, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; his brothers, Carmen Blasetti and his wife, Lois of Oneonta, Fred Blasetti of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister Irene Starkweather of Albany; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two sisters and a brother, Anna Primiani, Mary Ferguson and Pete Blasetti.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Oneonta, with the Rev. Godwin Nnamani, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Emmons.

Friends may call at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, on Tuesday Nov. 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at which time the family will be in attendance.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Mary's School Building Fund.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Grant Palmer Sr.

RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Grant Palmer Sr., 92, of County Highway 24, Monticello, town of Richfield, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday Nov. 1, 2001, in his home.

He was born on March 30, 1909, in Richfield, son of the late Frank and Blanche Edick Palmer. A lifelong Richfield resident, he was educated in both Monticello and Richfield Schools.

On March 20, 1939, he married Margurite Seamon in Richfield, a loving and devoted union of 40 years until her passing on Jan. 16, 1980. Grant had first worked for the Duofold Company as a shipping clerk. He then went on to work for the Otsego County Highway Department where he worked for 40 years, retiring in 1971 as a working foreman. After his retirement from the county, he worked for 10 more years at Ryerson's Otsego Golf Course.

He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. For many years he served on the Republican Committee of Otsego County and many other organizations

Grant was a big country music fan and particularly liked to listen to the Del-Se-Nango's. He had a love for the outdoors and nature. He had a strong belief in God and led a Christian life. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving him are two sons and their wives, Grant Jr. and Ruth Palmer, Douglas and Karen Palmer; one daughter Jean Coones all of Richfield Springs; a sister Ruth Burrows of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his wife Margurite, Grant was preceded in death by a brother, Otis Palmer, in 1976.

Funeral services will be on Monday at 10 a.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs. The Rev. John Young will officiate.

Interment will follow in Twilight Rest Cemetery, town of Richfield. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Richfield Springs Emergency Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
