Marie H. Fedor

DECATUR — Marie H. Fedor, 82, passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Bassett Healthcare Hospital in Cooperstown.

She was born Aug. 2, 1919, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Leo and Antoinette (Skerl) Hren.

She married Andrew Fedor, who has predeceased her.

Mrs. Fedor was raised in Worcester, moved to New York City and in 1950 she moved back to Worcester.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Worcester and the Altar Rosary Society.

She is survived by four children, Antoinette and her husband, Al, Bulson of Florida, Andrea and her husband, Jack, Schultz of Virginia, Leo Paul and his wife, Georgette, Fedor of  Pennsylvania, and Joseph and his wife, Diane, Fedor of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; four brothers, Joseph Hren of Decatur, Tony Hren of Decatur, Henry Hren of Decatur and John Hren of Oneonta; a sister, Elsie Conte of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Leo Hren Jr.

At Mrs. Fedor's request, she was cremated and a memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Edward Golding as celebrant.

There will be no calling hours and burial will take place at the St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date.

Contributions may be made in loving memory of Mrs. Fedor to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Worcester, NY or the Worcester Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 191, Worcester, NY 12197.

Arrangements are by E.J. Skinner Co., 155 Main St. in Worcester.

Marion E. Doolittle

SIDNEY — Marion E. Doolittle, 89, a resident of the Skilled Nursing Facility, The Hospital, Sidney, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, Jan. 19, 2002, at her residence.

She was born June 2, 1912, in Louisville, the daughter of the late George and Carrie Park Wilson.

On Feb. 26, 1932, she married Harold A. Doolittle in Madrid. He predeceased her March 22, 1984.

Marion was a 75-year member of the United Methodist Church in Sidney and the United Methodist Women. For several years she volunteered for the Sidney Next-to-New and was active with the Delaware Cooperative Extension, formerly the Home Bureau.

Marion loved to write poetry for her enjoyment and the enjoyment of others.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Russell and Ann Doolittle of Delhi and Warren and Ruth Doolittle of Sidney; five grandchildren, Daniel and David Doolittle, Ruth Ann Bishop, Stephanie Loefferle and Pamela Guy; seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan Toohey, Jack Doolittle, Ryan McGraw, Jesica Guy and Amy, Lindsay and Molly Bishop. Also surviving are two nieces, several great-nieces and great-nephews and numerous cousins.

A brother, Clarence Wilson, and two sisters, Ruth Doolittle and Mildred Finnie, predeceased her.

Funeral and committal services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, from the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. in Sidney, with the Rev. David Masland, pastor of her church, officiating.

Burial will be in the spring in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.

Friends are invited to call Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, with her family in attendance from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial gifts in her name may be directed to the United Methodist Church, Liberty Street, Sidney, or to the Tri-Town Boys and Girls Club, Sidney.

Evelyn Walker

SIDNEY — Evelyn Walker, 72, of Sidney, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at her home.

She was born Sept. 9, 1929, daughter of Lewis and Cordelia "Jennie" Finch Lambrecht in East Guilford.

Evelyn married Wayne C. Walker on Sept. 9, 1949, in Walton. He predeceased her on April 24, 1996.

She was employed as a machinist for E.C.D. of Bendix in Sidney when she retired.

Mrs. Walker was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Sidney, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Ladies of the Elks No. 2175, Sidney.

She is survived by her mother, Cordelia "Jennie" Lambrecht; daughter and son-in-law, Toni Lee and Bruce Codington of Sidney; two grandsons, Gabriel and Nathaniel Codington of Sidney; brother, Edward and Lori Lambrecht of Franklin; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Leona and Charles Cilibrasi of Franklin, Joanna and Frank Kennedy of Chatham and Judy and Harland McCall of Walton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A son, Craig Walker; a brother, Tony Lambrecht; a sister, Phyllis Blaisdell; and her father, Lewis Lambrecht, predeceased her.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. David Masland, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Sidney, officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW, R.H. Arrandale Post No. 7914, in Sidney.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Inc. in Sidney.

Francis Mami Sr.

ARKVILLE — Francis "Frank" Mami Sr., 75, of Arkville, passed away Jan. 18, 2002, at his residence

He was born Sept. 12, 1926, in New York City, the son of Carmelo Mami and Taddea Biondo.

He married Elizabeth Santos on Sept. 22, 1945, in Mary Help of Christian Church, New York.

He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 3, 1944, to Feb. 5, 1945.

For 27 years Frank was a sheet metal fabricator, working at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the Manhattan Blower Co., in New York City.

He moved to the Arkville area in 1959.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Mami, Arkville; one daughter, Kathleen "Mami" Moore and family; three sons, Frank Mami Jr., and family, Charles Mami and family and Peter Mami and family; one brother, Anthony Mami; one daughter-in-law, Beth Mami; one sister-in-law, Liza Almeida; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Margaretville, with the Very Rev. Robert H. Purcell as celebrant.

Burial will be in the Margaretville Cemetery at a later date.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Contributions may be made to the Margaretville Memorial Hospital Memorial Fund.

Arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Mary Bodmer

CHERRY VALLEY — Mrs. Mary Bernadette Morrissey Bodmer, 66, recently of Sharon Springs, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, following complications from lung cancer.

She was born in Queens on July 13, 1935, the daughter of Francis and Mercedes (Kennedy) Morrissey.

She was the widow of John A. Quigley of Floral Park, and William G. Bodmer of Sprout Brook.

Mary was a graduate of Sewanka High School, Class of 1952.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and was active in the Catholic Church in the communities where she lived. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include six children, Carla A. and her husband, Robert Grossman of Rhinebeck, John A. Bodmer of Tolland, Conn., Kevin E. and his wife, Alicia, Bodmer of Paul Smiths, Timothy W. Bodmer of San Francisco,  Calif., Bradley W. and his wife, Lisa, Bodmer of Niskayuna, and MaryBeth and her husband, Kevin, Flint of Cherry Valley; a brother, William Morrissey of Lee, Mass.; and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Ron Fralick officiating.

Burial will be in the Cherry Valley Cemetery in the spring.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Joseph Micheluzzi

JEFFERSON — Joseph Micheluzzi, 89, died suddenly on Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Bassett Hospital, Cobleskill.

An area resident for more than 50 years, he was a retired steamfitter, welder and farmer.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna; his son, Thomas of Maine; and a daughter, Carol Micheluzzi, of New York City; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home, 40 Main St., (corner of Liberty Street) in Stamford.

Services and interment in Summit Cemetery, Summit, will be held in the spring.

Donations may be made in his name to the Farm Sanctuary, Watkins Glen, NY or the American Lung Association.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hall Funeral Home, under the direction of William A. Tari.

Eugene E. Avery

EAST MEREDITH — Eugene E. "Gene" Avery, 85, of Avery Road, East Meredith, passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 21, 2002, at Countryside Care Center, Delhi.

The son of the late Charles M. and Lissie (Van Steenburgh) Avery, he was born July 7, 1916, in Seager, town of Hardenburgh, and married Hilda E. Watson on Sept. 20, 1946, in Montrose, Pa.

A lifelong area resident, Gene was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Pacific during World War II, after which he was a dairy farmer and milk hauler.

He subsequently was employed for 25 years at the Dellwood Creamery in Fraser and had lived in East Meredith for the past 40 years.

Gene was a life-member of St. James' Episcopal Church, Lake Delaware; Donald W. Gleason Post 190, American Legion, Delhi; and had served as treasurer of the local Eastern Milk Producers Association.

He greatly enjoyed attending local dances and also had a life-long fondness of horses, which he passed on to his family.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Hilda E. Avery, at home; two daughters, Vera (Ralph) Hunt of Delhi and Eugenia Avery at home; a son, Robert (Ruth Ann) Avery of East Meredith; a sister, Lucy Jocelyn of Margaretville; five grandchildren, Laurie Hunt, Greg (Andrea) Hunt, Melissa (Dan) Fetterman, Chris and Jennifer Ward; two great-grandchildren, Dylan Hunt and Cassidy Fetterman; a brother-in-law, Clarence Watson of Norwich; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Harkness of Otego; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call today at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, where the family will be in attendance from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., with American Legion services held at 8:30 p.m., and funeral services conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, by the Rev. Jason Catania.

Burial will be later in the Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.

Memorial contributions to the Meridale Emergency Squad will be appreciated.

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet & Son, Delhi.

Chester Hugaboon

BAINBRIDGE — Chester "Chet" Hugaboon, 54, of Pearl Street, Bainbridge, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, Jan. 21, 2002, at The Hospital, Sidney.

Funeral services for Chet will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Douglas Besemer, pastor of the Lebanon Federated Church of Lebanon, officiating.

Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home in Norwich on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Interment will be at a later date in the South Plymouth Cemetery.

Richard Tracy

MORRIS — Richard Leon Tracy of Morris, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at his home in Morris.

He was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Norwich, the son of the late Edgar L. Tracy and Hazel Melvin Tracy.

He married Marian Edwards on Dec. 13, 1947, in Halstead, Pa. Marian predeceased him May 16, 1997.

He is survived by four sons, Edward Tracy and his wife, Dara, of Garrattsville, Leon Tracy and his wife, Joy, of New Berlin, Dan Tracy and his wife, Bonnie, of Morris, and Michael Tracy and his wife, Eileen, of Morris; one daughter, Kathy Whitmore, and her husband, Stanley, of Otego; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

At the age of 17, Richard served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He received the American Campaign Ribbon; Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon; Philippine Liberation Ribbon with One Bronze Star; and World War II Victory Ribbon. His highest rank held was as petty officer third class (P.A.D. No. 3).

Richard was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Mr. Tracy owned many businesses throughout his life including Tracy-O'Neil Construction Co., Darian, Conn.; Tracy's Used Cars, Oneonta, (West Laurens,) and Norwich; Tracy's Gas Station, Oneonta; Tracy-Jenson Produce, Oneonta; and West & Tracy Construction Co., Norwich.

Mr. Tracy was a construction superintendent for many years, supervising the construction of many area buildings including the large addition of Bassett Hospital, buildings on the Hartwick College and State University College at Oneonta campuses, New York State Electric and Gas Corp., I-88 bridges and various buildings throughout the state during his career. He worked for Perlstein Construction Co. of New York City during the last 12 years before his retirement.

An avid sports participant and fan, Richard founded, owned and managed a semi-pro baseball team in Morris (Morris Athletic Club) and managed a semi-pro baseball team in Norwich (Norwich Merchants). He was a constant supporter of sports programs in Morris for more than 40 years with affiliation in Norwich and Oxford in his early years. Mr. Tracy attended countless youth and MCS games involving his children and grandchildren throughout his lifetime.

Richard, also an outdoor sportsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends.

Richard retired in 1982, and he and his wife, Marian, spent winters in Florida.

At Mr. Tracy's request, he was cremated and a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Johnston Funeral Home, Morris, with the Rev. Joseph Fiske officiating.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Morris Emergency Squad or to the Morris Booster Club, P.O. Box 426, Morris, NY 13808.

Arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.

Betty Jane Dewey

SIDNEY — Betty Jane Dewey of 10 Hatfield Ave., in Sidney, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Jan. 20, 2002, at her residence after a courageous three-year battle with cancer.

She was born in Sidney on July 31, 1930, daughter of the late Ethel Underwood Smith, Ralph Underwood, and stepdaughter of the late Thomas Smith.

She married Owen R. Dewey on Oct. 28, 1955, with whom she shared nearly 47 years.

She is survived by her husband, Owen; and daughter, Sheryl, and son-in-law, David Marmillion, of Columbia, S.C., daughter, Jo Ann, and son-in-law, Richard Mirabito, of Norwich; and son, Scott, and daughter-in-law, Lorna, of Raleigh, N.C.; and a twin brother, Robert Underwood, and wife, Pat, of Otego. She is also survived by four wonderful grandchildren; and several nieces and a nephew.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Sidney.

Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel in Sidney.

Those who wish may make contributions to the Catskill Area Hospice in Oneonta or the Sidney Emergency Squad.

Interment will be held in the spring at the Prospect Hill Cemetery.
