Beatrice M. Hunt
Whitehall - Beatrice M. Hunt, 98, of Saunders Street, passed away on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on Aug. 30, 1910 in Whitehall, she was the daughter of the late Frank P. And Bernadette (Goyette) Austin.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church and was very active with church activities.

John E. Traver
Granville - John E. Traver, 69, a resident of Everett's Heights Way, teacher and coach, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born Dec. 23, 1938, in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Clarence and Dorothy McCassie Traver.

John was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and SUNY Cortland.

Eugenio (Gino) Benevento
Lake Luzerne - Even though he would have preferred to die in a "blaze of glory" saving the life of another, Eugenio (Gino) Benevento died of cancer quietly at Glens Falls Hospital on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008.

Gino was born June 19, 1937, in Brooklyn and was the son of the late Charles and Mae (Walsh) Benevento. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1957. After working at a brokerage firm and the post office in the city, he visited the Lake Luzerne area where he found his home. He moved here and never returned to Brooklyn. He tended bar at many different restaurants in the area and then spent 18 years working in the pharmacy at Glens Falls Hospital.

On Sept. 16, 1973, Gino married Lynn Gilbert, and they began a joyful life of love and friendship. They were blessed with two adventuresome sons, Michael and Giani.

Kris Cummings
RAQUETTE LAKE, N.Y. and SALEM, N.Y. - Eunice V. "Kris" Cummings, 61, a resident of Raquette Lake, and Salem, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Jan. 1, 1947, in Eureka, S.D. the daughter of the late Herbert and Viola (Rau) Ottenbacher, the youngest of four children.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jay, of 41 years; a daughter, Holly DeMarsh and her husband, Patrick, of Galway, N.Y.; and her granddaughters, Nicole and Brittney DeMarsh. She is also survived by her sister, LaVerne Neuharth and her husband, Alfred, of Eureka, S.D.; her brothers, Herman Ottenbacher and his wife, Denise, of Watertown, S.D. and Arnie Ottenbacher and his wife, Donna, of Aberdeen, S.D. and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Erwin Gough
GANSEVOORT and TICONDEROGA - Robert Erwin Gough, 71, of Gansevoort and formerly of Ticonderoga, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at the Albany Medical Center with complications from a stroke.

Born in Moriah, Dec. 2, 1936, he was the son of the late Erwin D. and Violet F. (Straight) Gough.

Mr. Gough was a graduate of Port Henry High School.

George Kevit Infante
GLENS FALLS - George Kevit Infante 1949 to 2008. The family of George K. Infante of Glens Falls, formerly of Plattsburgh, sadly announces his passing on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, as a result of his long battle with cancer.

George was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y, on Nov. 17, 1949, the first son of Lawrence J. Infante Jr. and Gertrude E. Mead-Infante.

George was a 1967 graduate of Beekmantown Central School, where he excelled in math, science and music.

Angeline Puricelli
FORT EDWARD - Angeline Puricelli, 89, died peacefully at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Argyle, N.Y., on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008.

Angie, the widow of Enzo Puricelli, was born in Websterville, Vt., on Jan. 5, 1919. She was the daughter of Arthur and Rose Ann Gagne.

Angie graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre Vt., in 1938.

William Heslin
VALLEY FALLS, RENSSELAER COUNTY - William F. Heslin Sr., 82, of Lyon Street, in Valley Falls, died on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on Sept. 22, 1926, in Cohoes, N.Y. to the late William H. and Theresa Cavanaugh Heslin.

Mr. Helsin was the husband of Jane A. Wadsworth Heslin whom he married in 1951.

Jeanne M. Lyon
BELCHER, N.Y. - Jeanne M. Lyon, 77, of Belcher, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, Oct. 2, 2008, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady with her family at her side.

Jeanne was born Sept. 17, 1931, in Glens Falls, the daughter of the late Erwin and Olive (Mattison) Potter.

She was educated in Fort Ann and had lived there for many years. Jeanne was a homemaker and a longtime member of the West Hebron United Methodist Church where she was involved with many activities. Jeanne was a reading partner at Salem  Washington Academy for many years and enjoyed reading, bowling and needle work. She loved spending quality time with her family.

Lucille M. Allen
SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Lucille M. Allen, 93, a former resident of South Glens Falls passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home, Fort Edward.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, South Glens Falls.

Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls

George Haviland
GLENS FALLS - George Haviland of Warren Street, Glens Falls, died suddenly on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008. He was 60 years old

Born on Nov. 7, 1947, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., he was the son of the late Fred Haviland and Eva Mabb Haviland.

George worked for many years as a driver for Northern Distributing in Glens Falls, N.Y.

Shirley M. LaSarso
QUEENSBURY - Shirley M. LaSarso, 83, of the Willows, died peacefully at the Glens Falls Hospital on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, surrounded by her loving family.

A lifelong resident of Fort Edward, Shirley was born in Fort Edward on March 20, 1925, the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Linendoll) Doyle.

Shirley graduated from the Fort Edward High School, Class of 1942.

Sandra "Sandy" L. Coates
SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Sandra "Sandy" L. Coates, 48, of  White Birch Estates, passed away suddenly Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at her home.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.

Beatrice Evelyn Frasier
TICONDEROGA - Beatrice Evelyn Frasier, 82, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at the home of her daughter in St. Helena Island, S. C.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time and under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.

Edward P. Hitlin
WARRENSBURG - Edward P. Hitlin, 86, passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Stafford Funeral Home, Inc., 90 Montcalm St., Lake George, N.Y.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, at a time to be announced at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Lake George.

Gladys C. (Dunklee) Drake
TICONDEROGA - Gladys C. (Dunklee) Drake, 92, of Ticonderoga, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at Riverside at Chase Point Assisted Living in Damariscotta, Maine, where she has been a resident since 2002.

Born in Silver Bay, N.Y., on Dec. 27, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Fayette and Annie (Nutbrown) Dunklee.

She was a 1933 graduate of Hague High School, and a 1936 graduate of Plattsburgh Normal School. She was employed as an elementary school teacher for many years in Hague and Ticonderoga.

George F. Nerf
GLENS FALLS - George F. Nerf, 81, of Glens Falls, passed away Oct. 7, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of the late George F. and Mary Ellen (Leach) Nerf.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific and China.

Anthony F. Balciunas
LAKE GEORGE - Anthony F. Balciunas, 92, formerly of Cedar Lane, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at Westmount Health Facility.

Born Jan. 29, 1916, in Brooklyn, he was the son of Anthony and Veronica Balciunas.

Tony married Madeline Zinis on Nov. 26, 1936.

Clifton E. Seeley Jr.
SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Clifton E. Seeley Jr., 69, a resident of South Glens Falls, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital, Glens Falls, N.Y.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 94 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls, N.Y.

Brian K. Smith
RUTLAND, Vt. - Brian K. Smith, 32, of Maple Street, passed away early Saturday morning, Oct. 4, 2008, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center due to complications from an assault late Friday night.

Born June 3, 1976, in Buffalo, he was the son of Laura (Millington) Armstrong of Hubbardton, Vt., and Brian K. Smith of Warrensburg, N.Y.

Brian was employed by B.J.'s Rubbish Removal of Rutland.

Diane 'Cookie' Lorraine Mayr
HUDSON FALLS - Diane "Cookie" Lorraine Mayr, 62, of Dix Avenue, entered into the hands of the Lord, peacefully on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at her home.

Born on Aug. 28, 1946, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Mary (Vogel) Sitterly.

She attended Hudson Falls High School.

Donna Mae Cobb
HUDSON FALLS and TROY - Donna Mae (St. Jock) Cobb, 62, of Hudson Falls and formerly of Troy, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness.

Born on Jan. 9, 1946, in Montpelier, Vt., she was the daughter of Velma (Blaisdell) St. Jock and the late Roger St. Jock.

Donna attended schools in Vermont and furthered her education through BOCES in Albany. She was very proud to have achieved her goal of becoming an LPN.

Eleanor L. Morris
QUEENSBURY - Eleanor L. Morris, 83, of Queensbury passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital.

She was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Wilkes Barre, Pa., the daughter of the late Walter and Ethel (Johns) Evans.

She was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary in  Pennsylvania.

Patricia Brand
GLENS FALLS - Patricia E. Brand of Glens Falls passed away on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital after a short illness.

Born Sept. 18, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Marguerite and Vernon St. Clair.

Pat was a graduate of South Glens Falls High School.

Alexander Frank
QUEENSBURY - Alexander C. "Rudd" Frank, 94, of Queensbury, died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital, Glens Falls, N.Y.

Born on Feb. 2, 1914, in Utica, N.Y., he was the son of the late Walter G. and Susan C. Frank and brother of the late Walter G. Frank Jr.

Rudd attended Cornell University, where he was a member of the ROTC and Utica School of Commerce.

Donald O'Dell
GLENS FALLS - Donald T. O'Dell Sr., 65, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady of complications from heart disease.

Born on Dec. 6, 1942, in Lake George, he was the son of the late Freeman and Flora (Labshere) O'Dell.

Mr. O'Dell was employed by Harder Silo of South Glens Falls as a silo builder for many years. He later worked for Woodbury Lumber Co. and Moore's Lumber Co. of Queensbury as a security guard, retiring in the '90s.
