Anita Elwood Foote

STAMFORD — Anita Elwood Foote, 58, died unexpectedly in an automobile accident on Monday, May 20, 2002.

She was born March 28, 1944, in Walton, and was a lifelong resident of the Stamford area.

She was the loving daughter of Barbara Elwood and the late Ray Elwood.

Her first love and deepest commitment was to her family: her husband of 31 years, Bob; her children; Ramon and his partner, Vicki, and their two daughters, Erica and Rhiannon; Tanya and her husband, Adam Hamilton, and their son, Matthew; and Rob and his wife, Rachel, and their children, Samuel, Zachariah and Jocelyn.

Anita is also survived by her sister, Joan Schaefer, and her husband, George; and her brother, Lloyd Elwood.

Her love extended to all of her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Doug Elwood.

Anita was a long-standing member of the Stamford First Presbyterian Church, where she served as Clerk of Session, a ruling elder, a Sunday school teacher and chairwoman of the Christian education committee. She also directed several Sunday school plays and sang in the church choir for many years. In addition to her church, Anita greatly enjoyed being a member of Catskill Community Players, having performed in several musicals and comedies with that theater group.

Anita was a lifelong learner. Recently, she had been studying and sharing the practice of Reiki and was taking a course in American Sign Language.

She loved the mountains, ocean and walking on the beach and was known for her dedication and attachment, not only to her pets, but to the wildlife which surrounded her home.

Anita will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Donations may be made in her memory to Stamford Fire Department and/or Stamford First Presbyterian Church.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2002, at the Hall Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Stamford.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2002, at Stamford First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Waylen Bray officiating.

Interment will follow at Stamford Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford, under the direction of William A. Tari.

Bruce A. Greenman

SOUTH NEW BERLIN — Bruce Allen Greenman Jr., died unexpectedly on May 20, 2002.

He was born Oct. 18, 1967, in A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

Bruce graduated from Mount Upton Central School in the Class of 1986.

He loved spending most of his time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking.

Bruce recently became a member of the Rockdale Rod and Gun Club.

Bruce was employed as a truck driver for P&R Truss in Sidney.

He is survived by his father, Bruce Allen Greenman Sr., of Mount Upton; sister and brother-in-law, Diana and Tony Christian, and their children, James, Brianna and Hunter of Mount Upton; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Shirley Greenman, Aynor, S.C., and their children, Cindy Ferguson of West Oneonta, Michele Pope of Sidney, and Timothy and Christopher Ferguson of  South Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Charles "Chip" and April Greenman, and their children, Nathaniel, Brandon and Amber of Norwich; sister and brother-in-law, Lynne D. and John L. Sullivan III, their children, Jerrad, Kayla, Tiffany, John IV and Samantha of Masonville; maternal grandmother, Beatrice Green, Sidney; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Bruce is also survived by his best friend, his dog, Pepper.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, with the Rev. Stephen Reese of the Columbus Community Church, Columbus, officiating.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Whitestore.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chenango County Humane Society.

Raymond Robinson

ONEONTA — Raymond C. "Robbie" Robinson, 72, of Oneonta, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born July 13, 1929, in Maryland, the son of Clair and Bertha M. (Hitchman) Robinson.

He married the former Doris Cope on Oct. 1, 1949, at the Main Street Baptist Church, Oneonta. She survives him.

"Robbie" was a lifelong area resident and had been a foreman for the DandH Railway, Oneonta, for 38 years, retiring in 1988.

He was a member of the Oneonta Eagles Club and a former member of the Oneonta Moose Club.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Robinson, of Oneonta; one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond Clair Robinson Jr. and Brenda of Simpsonville, S.C.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie Sue and Herbert Olmstead of Portlandville, and Elaine Janet Ronald and David Ronald of Gurnee, Ill.; two brothers, Clyde L. Robinson of West Oneonta and Kenneth Robinson of the state of  Texas; two sisters, Helen  Taylor of Stone Ridge and Ruth Powell of Lancaster,  Texas; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

"Robbie" was predeceased by a brother, Harold Robinson; and two half-brothers, Robert and Donald Chamberlain.

A service to celebrate the life of Raymond C. "Robbie" Robinson will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, from the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. William Lang, pastor of First Baptist Church, Oneonta, officiating.

Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2002, when the family will be present at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be given to the First Baptist Church, 73 Chestnut St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

John J. Vellucci

MARGARETVILLE — John J. Vellucci, 80, of Margaretville, passed away Monday, May 20, 2002, at the Samuel S. Stratton Veteran's Hospital, Albany

He was born Sept. 6, 1921, in the Bronx, the son of Angelo and Maria (Moretti) Vellucci.

He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 3, 1941, to June 17, 1945. He re-enlisted from Oct. 23, 1945, to June 1, 1947.

John was a maintenance supervisor for Postal Service at Grand Central Station in New York City, retiring in 1974.

He moved to Margaretville from the Bronx in 1987.

He was a member of Middletown American Legion Post 216 and the Sacred Heart Church, Margaretville.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Linda Vellucci, Citrus Heights,  Calif.; two daughters, Ann Marie Stern, Arkville, and Susan and son-in-law Victor Fairbairn, Margaretville; two grandchildren, Annatte Decker and Garrett Fairbairn; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ida Ritrivi, Suffern, Angie Chmiel, Bronx, and Mary Ciccarone, Suffern; two brothers, Louis Vellucci, Florida, and James Vellucci, Suffern; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one son, John J. Jr., who died July 3, 1983; and one sister, Carmela DeFino.

Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at the Sacred Heart Church, Margaretville, with the Very Rev. Robert H. Purcell, celebrant.

Burial will be in Margaretville Cemetery, Margaretville.

Calling hours will be held 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, before the Mass at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Contributions in memory of John J. Vellucci may be made to the Memorial Fund at the Samuel S. Stratton Veteran's Hospital, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY.

Arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Douglas B. Parsons

SIDNEY CENTER — Douglas B. Parsons, 79, of Sidney Center, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2002, at the New York State Veteran's Home, Oxford.

He was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Walton, the son of the late D. Wesley and Grace Terry Parsons.

On Aug. 17, 1946, he married Mary Jane Steffen in Franklin.

Doug was a retired machinist for the Amphenol Corp., Sidney. He retired May 30, 1985.

He was a charter member of the Ouleout Post 1689 American Legion, Franklin, and was a present member of the Charles L. Jacobi Post 183 American Legion, Sidney.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Parsons, Sidney Center; two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Nancy Parsons, Sidney Center, and Jack and Debra Parsons, Brandon, Fla.; two daughters and son-in-law, Deborah and David Barnes, Masonville, and Stephanie Parsons, ElVerano,  Calif.; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Virginia Parsons, Walton; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Mr. Parsons was predeceased by his son, Dale Parsons, in 1982; and one sister, Marjorie Yarnes.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002, at the Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin, with the Rev. Kip Stratton, pastor of the Unadilla and Sidney Center United Methodist churches, officiating.

Family and friends are invited to attend a reception at 2 p.m. at the Maywood Historical Depot, Sidney Center, on Thursday afternoon.

Memorial gifts in his name may be directed to the N.Y. State Veteran's Home Memorial Fund, Oxford, NY 13830.

Arrangements are under the direction of the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Ada M. Parker

EDMESTON — Ada M. Parker, 91, of Edmeston, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at Bassett Hospital in Cobleskill.

She was born Jan. 13, 1911, on the Parker Homestead, the daughter of Warren and Elva (Pashley) Parker.

Ada graduated from Edmeston Central School.

She worked alongside her family on the Parker Farm Homestead, and was a member of the Second Baptist Church, Edmeston.

Later in life she lived on North Street in Edmeston where she took an active interest in the community.

Ada especially enjoyed being a librarian at the Edmeston Public Library, and working in her large vegetable garden that she nurtured from seedlings.

Ada is survived by her two caretakers, her nephew, Curtis and his wife, Joan Ackerman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her three sisters, Grace Nichols, Lila Tilley and Mabel Ackerman; and her two brothers, George and Warren Parker.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2002, at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston, with Mrs. Joan Ackerman officiating.

Calling hours are one hour before the service on Thursday.

Interment will follow at Edmeston Union Cemetery.

Arrangements by Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.

John R. Kuhnle

MARGARETVILLE — John R. Kuhnle, 77, of Margaretville, formerly of Saugerties, passed away Monday, May 13, 2002, at the Albany Medical Center, Albany.

He was born June 16, 1924, in Long Island City, the son of Richard J. Kuhnle and Cecilia Prestinari.

He married Charlotte M. Ruthardt on Feb. 1, 1947. They were married for 55 years.

He was a T/4 Sgt. in the U.S. Army from 1943-46. He had flight training at the University of Arkansas. He was stationed in Europe and the Pacific during his time of duty.

He was employed by the Prudential Insurance Co., in sales, for 30 years in the Long Island district. He received many awards.

He formerly lived in Saugerties and then moved to Oregon before moving to Margaretville.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Kuhnle, Margaretville; one son, David and wife, Gina Kuhnle, Salt Point; one daughter, Karen Certain, Margaretville; and one granddaughter, Amber Certain, Margaretville.

Services were private.

Arrangements by Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
