FAIR HAVEN Vt. - Alfred F. Putorti, 82, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington.

Born Feb. 22, 1927, in Whitehall, he was the son of Anthony and Caroline (Martucci) Putorti.

Fred and his family operated Putorti's Broadway Market in Whitehall for many years until 1974. Fred also worked on the railroad and was a skilled carpenter.

A. Ruth Skerrett
HADLEY - A. Ruth Skerrett, age 98 , of Route 9N, died Tuesday afternoon, March 3, 2009, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4p.m. at the Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Holy Infancy, Lake Luzerne.

John A. Bailey
GREENWICH - John A. Bailey, 74, passed away at his home on Monday, March 2, 2009, with his family by his side.

Calling hours and services will be announced on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Argyle, N.Y.

John F. Leskowsky (Franny)
EAGLE BRIDGE, N.Y. - John F. Leskowsky (Franny), 35, of Eagle Bridge, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009.

John was born June 2, 1973, in Bennington, Vt., the son of the late Walter Leskowsky and Laona Hafner Yager.

John attended school in Cambridge and Hoosick Falls and had worked at Eastern Castings in Cambridge for four years and was currently employed at Peckham Industries in Shaftsbury for the last four and a half years.

Ruth Edna Solomon Ross
LAKE GEORGE - Ruth Edna Solomon Ross, a longstanding resident of Kattskill Bay, Lake George, died peacefully at 93 years of age on Sunday, March 8, 2009.

Mrs. Ross was born in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Harriet and Victor Solomon. She was the wife of the late Waldo Ross.

Ruth graduated from Williamsville High School and went on to work at Curtis Wright Aircraft, where she met her husband. They were married for 50 years. Ruth and her husband moved to Lake Luzerne in the 1940s where Waldo's sister and husband owned the Hidden Valley Ranch. In 1951, they bought what is now known as the Cleverdale Market. They operated it successfully for 20 years, after which they retired to a home on Pilot Knob Road.

Georgeiana M. Adams
QUEENSBURY - Georgeiana M. Adams, 50, of Queensbury, passed away Monday, March 9, 2009, at Glens Falls Hospital.

She was born on Feb. 2, 1959, in Glens Falls, the daughter of George Suttle and the late Rose Mabb.

Georgeiana really enjoyed going to The Great Escape, she adored her cat "Stitch", and she was an avid Elvis fan. She spent time going to the Elvis shows and collecting his memorabilia. Georgeiana cherished her grandchildren, and the time she spent with her family.

Theodora "Teddy" R. Wilson
FORT EDWARD - Theodora "Teddy" R. Wilson, 93, of East Street in Fort Edward, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on April 1, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Izidor and Stella (Morowski) Rojcewicz.

Teddy's childhood was spent on the family farm in South Harford. She graduated from Hartford Central School and attended New York state's first public junior college for two years.

Dr. Robert H. Johnson
QUEENSBURY - Dr. Robert H. Johnson, a former resident of Fish Point on Lake George, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2009, at The Landing of Queensbury.

He was born on March 16, 1920, in Chicago, the son of Norwegian immigrants.

He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Bernice "Bunny," who was a school teacher and the mother of his two daughters, Dale J. McGinnis of Saranac Lake and Dr. Nancy-Jo  Johnson of New Rochelle.

Douglas William Holcomb Sr.
GRANVILLE, N.Y. - Douglas William Holcomb Sr. died on Friday, March 6, 2009, at his residence from complications sustained in an accident three years ago.

Douglas was born on May 31, 1984, the son of Pete Holcomb and Sandra (Bickford) Dewey.

Prior to his accident, Douglas had been employed at numerous slate quarries as well as Manchester Wood. Douglas' greatest joy was spending time with his son playing with his enormous car collection or watching their favorite television shows together. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and never-ending pranks that he would pull on people, especially his grandparents, whom he lived with and loved with all his heart. Douglas enjoyed fishing with this brothers, father and grandfather. A favorite summer pastime was going to every yard sale he could get to. He also enjoyed his weekly outings to the movies and shopping with his aunt Cindy. However, the most precious moments of his life were those spent with his grandmother. They had a bond that surpassed all others. He will be remembered for "doing it the hard way." Gone but not forgotten.

Shirley Bordeau
HUDSON FALLS - Shirley Bordeau, 78, formerly of John Street, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Orchard Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Granville.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Carleton Funeral Home Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.

Robert H. Kahn
QUEENSBURY - Robert H. Kahn, 89, a resident of Sunnyside East, Queensbury, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2009, at his residence.

He was born on Nov. 14, 1919, in the Bronx, and was the son of the late Sydney and Josephine (de Lemos) Kahn.

Mr. Kahn was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Air Force. During the war in the Pacific, he piloted B-24s in China and later B-29s against Japan.

Dr. Gail K. Hepner
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Dr. Gail K. Hepner, 46, of New Brighton, a psychiatrist and accomplished musician, died Thursday, March 5, 2009, from cancer, in Richmond University Medical Center, where she had been since last month.

Born and raised in West Brighton, she lived in  Washington County, N.Y., from 1988 to 1995. She returned to West Brighton and remained there until spending almost three months near Page, Ariz., in February 2000. She settled in New Brighton with her husband, Gregory P. De Respino.

Dr. Hepner graduated in 1980 from the former High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan, where she studied music.

Edward C. Haroff
SCHROON LAKE - Edward C. Haroff, 87, passed away early Sunday morning, March 8, 2009, at the Interlakes Nursing Home in Ticonderoga, N.Y.

Ed was born March 27,1921, in Matteson, Mich., the son of the late Milton E. and Edith M. Haroff.

Ed and his parents then moved from Sherwood, Mich., to Springfield Gardens, N.Y. He was employed at Grumman Aircraft in Bethpage, N.Y., retiring after 36 years of service.

Theodora Teddy Wilson
FORT EDWARD - Theodora "Teddy" Wilson died March 7, 2009, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Arrangements are pending under the direction of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward.

Muriel S. Hubbard
SALEM, N.Y. - Muriel S. Hubbard, 84, of Salem, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 14, 2009, at the Indian River Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Granville.

Mrs. Hubbard was born July 23, 1924, in Cambridge, N.Y., the daughter of the late James and Florence (Parrish) Sheldon.

She attended school in Rupert and Salem then graduated from Granville High School.

Mildred I. Decker
CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. - Mildred I. Decker, 97, formerly of Cambridge, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2009, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

Born Dec. 2, 1911, in Easton, N.Y. the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Little) Irons.

She was educated in Greenwich and had worked for the Rice Seed Company in Cambridge for many years.

Kristi L. 'Kit' (Plummer) Lyng
PORTER CORNERS - Kristi L. "Kit" (Plummer) Lyng, 40, of Route 9N, died unexpectedly Friday, March 13, 2009.

Born on Aug. 13, 1968, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Carol (Cummings) Plummer.

Kristi attended Corinth High School.

Harold W. Dewey
CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. - Harold W. Dewey, 88, of Cambridge, passed away Friday night, March 14, 2009, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Mr. Dewey was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Greenwich, the son of the late Wesley and Jennie (Gillis) Dewey.

He graduated from Greenwich High School and had worked for the  Washington County Department of Public Works and the New York State Department of Transportation and retired in the 1970s from Cambridge Central School where he was a custodian. Mr. Dewey was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Cambridge, he enjoyed fishing and playing tennis at one time.

Virginia Dixson McGowan
EASTON - Virginia Dixson McGowan, 89, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Saratoga Hospital after a brief illness.

Born Aug. 17, 1919, in Easton, she was the eldest daughter of the late Howard B. and Grace W. Dixson of Easton and resided in Easton until 18 years ago, when she moved to Malta.

Mrs. McGowan was a graduate of Greenwich High School and Troy Business College. She retired from John Manning (Lydall) Paper Company in Green Island where she worked in the business office in various positions for nearly 30 years. During World War II she also worked at the Watervliet Arsenal.

Patricia B. Kenyon
BALLSTON SPA - Patricia B. Kenyon, 72, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born in Schenectady, May 2, 1936, she was the daughter of the late James and Ruth Trumbull Bates.

Pat worked for the Saratoga County Child Support Unit for many years. After her retirement, she worked part time for Castle & McLennan Insurance and H&R Block Tax Service.

Joan Johnson
HEBRON - Joan Johnson, 76, of Hebron, passed away Thursday evening, March 19, 2009. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by the McClellan Funeral Service, 19 East Broadway, Salem.

Constance L. Sica
CAMBRIDGE - Constance L. Sica, 76, of Cambridge, passed away on her birthday, Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Saratoga Hospital.

Born March 19, 1933, in Titusville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and May (Decker) Bowles.

Mrs. Sica graduated from Cambridge High School at age 16 and worked at G.L.F. Petroleum in Greenwich as a bookkeeper.

Velma M. Fox
GRANVILLE - Velma M. Fox passed away on March 19, 2009, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Velma was born on Feb. 19, 1939, in Comstock, N.Y., the daughter of William H. and Eva (Tucker) Stoddard.

Velma retired in 2001 from Granville Central School, where she was employed as a teacher's assistant.
