Alan Roscoe Brush

RUSTBURG, Va. — Alan Roscoe Brush, 59, of Rustburg Va., passed away Sunday, June 9, 2002, in Virginia Baptist Hospital.

He was the husband of Bonnie Valentine Brush.

Born Aug. 1, 1942, in Sidney, N.Y., he was the son of the late Roscoe Howard Brush and the late Gladys Irene Sweet Brush.

In addition to his loving wife, Alan is survived by a daughter, Maria Spetalnik and her husband, Scott, of Chantilly, Va.; a son, David Alan Brush of Potsdam, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Robin Mitchell and her husband, Steve, of Atlanta, Ga.; a grandson, Jonathan Spetalnik of Chantilly Va.; his mother-in-law, Mae Valentine of South New Berlin, N.Y.; three sisters, Irene Ingalls and her husband, Donald, of Unadilla, N.Y., Evelyn Thayer and her husband, Charles, of Abingdon, Va., and Joan Wilson of Cornelius, N.C.; two aunts; an uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at the Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, Va.

Louise Grace All

JEFFERSON — Louise Grace All, 70, died at her residence on Wednesday, June 12, 2002, after a lengthy illness.

Louise was a lifelong area resident. She was born in Grand Gorge, the daughter of Rosario Cottone and Domenica Bongiorno.

She has lived in  Jefferson since 1957.

She is survived by two sons, Phillip W. All and his wife, Yvonne, of  Jefferson and Richard A. All of Austin,  Texas. Also surviving are four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Daniel J. All, in 1980.

Services will be private.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford, under the direction of William A. Tari.

George Pruzinsky

FLEISCHMANNS — George Pruzinsky, 84, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at Margaretville Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 12, 1918 in Lynn, Mass., the son of Peter and Anna Pruzinsky.

A lifelong area resident, Mr. Pruzinsky worked on his family farm where he cared for 21 cows, milking them by hand. He farmed from 1931 until 1944, when he enlisted to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He was discharged in November of 1946. He later worked for Border Water Supply Patrol from New York City.

He was a nine-year member of the American Legion Post No. 216 in Margaretville.

A son, Steven, and his wife, Sally Murphy, Granville; and grandchildren, Patrick, Erin and Megan Murphy survive.

Calling hours will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2002, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.

Burial will take place at the Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, at a later date.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.

Richard L. Weir Sr.

MILFORD CENTER — Richard L. Weir Sr., 83, passed away June 12, 2002, at Albany Medical Center, Albany.

He was born March 12, 1919, in Oneonta, the son of James and Margaret Whipple Weir.

He attended and graduated from local schools as he was an area resident for the past 54 years.

Dick last worked as a water plant operator for the city of Oneonta and previously at United Aircraft — Hamilton Standard Division at East Hartford, Conn., and the Lynn Plant at Oneonta as a tool and die maker. He was also employed for many years at Stevens Hardware in Oneonta.

He was an avid hunter, fly fisherman and professional fly dresser and his family was his life. In recent years, he was a die-hard Yankee fan.

He was active in many local organizations as past president of America Waterworks Association; trustee and past president of Milford Macs; active member and offices of Klipnocie Beagle Club; co-founder of Milford Little League in 1963; former town of Milford supervisor 1970-1972; and Trout Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Weir; one daughter, Donna and Ross Jones, of Richfield Springs; two sons, Richard and Bonnie Weir, of Hobart, and James and Cynthia Weir, of Maryland; one brother, John N. and Frances Weir, of Oneonta; six granddaughters; two grandsons; three great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Smith and Philip Smith and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Reichard.

He was predeceased by a brother, Alfred Weir, and sister, Katherine Fuller.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 15, at 2 p.m. at Milford Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Kazinski officiating. Interment will follow in the Milford Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions may be made to the Milford United Methodist Church, PO Box 43, Milford, NY 13807.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Joyce Wengert

BURLINGTON FLATS — Joyce Helen Wengert, 59, of Burlington Flats passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Bassett Hospital, with her family by her side.

Joyce was born in Brooklyn on Oct. 14, 1942, the daughter of George and Charlotte (Roth) Zobel. She married Raymond W. Wengert on May 18, 1963 in Brooklyn.

Joyce worked for Merrill Lynch before moving to Burlington Flats in 1976. She worked for many years as a cook for a local inn. She was an active member of the Cassville Ladies Auxiliary. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and working in her garden.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 39 years, Raymond; one daughter, Deborah Wengert; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Raymond and Suzette Wengert of Edmeston, Gregory and Danette Wengert and Mark Wengert, all of Burlington Flats. She is also survived by two sisters, Marilyn Olshefsky of Holbrook, N.Y. and Carolyn Kobel of Punta Gorda Fla.; her mother Charlotte Zobol of Oriskany; her four grandchildren, Christopher, Danielle, Allen and Corey Wengert; and her uncle Victor A. Eifler of Burlington Flats.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 17, at 10 a.m. at the Second Baptist Church, Edmeston with Pastor James Watson officiating.

Calling hours are Sunday, June 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston. At 8 p.m., a memorial service will be conducted by the Cassville Ladies Auxiliary

Interment will be at Burlington Flats Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Louis Busch Hager Cancer Treatment Center in Cooperstown in memory of Joyce.

Arrangements are by the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.

Mona M. Delberta

ONEONTA — Mona M. Delberta, 89, of New Berlin, N.Y., formerly of Oneonta, N.Y., died Friday, June 14, 2002, at the Chase Memorial Nursing Home, New Berlin. She was born May 26, 1913, in Oneonta, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Dani) Delberta.

Mona was a lifelong area resident of Oneonta and had been a custodian for Oneonta School District. She also had worked at Bresee's Department Store and A. O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta at one time.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Rose Leonard of Binghamton, N.Y. and Elizabeth Leonard of Liverpool, N.Y., Joseph Leonard of South Edmeston, N.Y.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Jack Emmett of South Edmeston, Mrs. Ted (Susan) Christman of Oneonta, widow Carol and Bill Rogers of South Edmeston; two sisters, Angie Monington of Oneonta and Ann Fradin of Santa Monica,  Calif.; a brother, Carl Delberta of Oneonta; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son John Leonard who died May 25, 2002, and a sister Josephine Sparaco.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 17, from the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta. The Rev. Melvin Farmer, pastor of the River Street Baptist Church Oneonta and the Rev. Jeff McLallen, Pastor of South Edmeston Community Church, will officiate.

Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta from 10 a.m. until service time Monday, when the family will be present.

Burial will be in Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.

Expressions of sympathy may be given to the Oneonta Boys Club Inc., River Street, Oneonta, NY 13820, in memory of Mona M. Delberta.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Emma C. Shafer

HARTWICK — Mrs. Emma C. Shafer, 86, of Hartwick, N.Y., formerly of Gardiner, N.Y., passed away June 14, 2002, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.

She was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Newburgh, N.Y., the daughter of Gustav and Anna Nusskern. On Jan. 23, 1937, she married Kenneth E. Shafer in Cornwall, N.Y. He predeceased her in 1983.

Mrs. Shafer was a homemaker in Hartwick.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Alexander, of Gardiner; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Richard, his wife Linda, all of Hartwick; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gustav Nusskern of Queensbury, N.Y.; two sisters, Elizabeth Wilburn of Bath, Pa., Margaret Palmer of Palm Coast, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Walter Alexander and three sisters, Florence Ronk, Helen Minerley, and Elise Shafer.

Cremation took place at the Leatherstocking Crematory Inc., Cherry Valley.

Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Gardiner.

Contributions in Mrs. Shafer's memory may be made to Oneonta Community Christian School, 160 River St., Oneonta, NY 13820 or Gardiner Fire Department, P.O. Box 271, Gardiner, NY 12525.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Yvette Blakeslee

JEFFERSON — Yvettte Blakeslee, 38, of  Jefferson, died suddenly Sunday, June 9, 2002, in Butler, N.J.

Friends may call at the Hall Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Stamford, on Sunday, June 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be Monday at a time to be announced.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford, under the direction of William A. Tari.

Shannon M. Ramp

HOBART — Services for Shannon M. Ramp, who passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2002, will now be held at the Hobart Presbyterian Church, Maple Avenue, Hobart, on Sunday, June 16, 2002, at 3 p.m. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Yvette J. Blakeslee

JEFFERSON — Yvette J. Blakeslee, 35, born April 23, 1967, passed away June 9, 2002.

Her friends knew her as "Bambi," and she was very well liked by all.

She graduated from  Jefferson Central School in 1985; her major was business. After graduation she joined the Army for a short time, received a medal for Marksmanship and was given a medical discharge.

She then pursued her education at the State University College of Technology at Delhi, where she received honors in business and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Case of Oneonta; her two daughters, Sierra and Miranda of  Jefferson; two brothers, Edward Case of  Jefferson and David Case of Oneonta. Also surviving is her loving and caring companion of eight years, Bret Elters; her grandmother, Barbara Truex of Binghamton; several nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; a half-brother, Steve; and four half-sisters from Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, June 17, 2002, at the Hall Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Stamford, with the Rev. Elliot Oakes officiating.

Interment will follow at the Esperance Cemetery in Esperance.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford, under the direction of William A. Tari.

Donna Marie Ehler

STAMFORD — Donna Marie Ehler, 50, the wife of Bill Ehler, died at her residence Friday, June 14, 2002, after a short illness.

Donna was born on July 13, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of the late Walter and Kim Doran.

She leaves a son, Dan Minalga, his wife, Becky, and grandson, Hunter, all of  Jefferson. She also leaves a sister, Darlene Doran of Milford, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, June 17, 2002, at the Hall Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Stamford. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002, with the Rev. Elliot Oakes officiating. Interment will follow at the Stamford Cemetery in Stamford.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Catskill Area Hospice, Oneonta and/or the American Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford, under the direction of William A. Tari.
