Cindy M. Vokins
OPPENHEIM — Cindy M. Vokins, 47, of 482 County Highway 151, St. Johnsville, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002 at her home after a long illness.
She was born Jan. 27, 1955 in Schenectady, daughter of Eleanor I. (Jensen) Vokins and the late Davis W. Vokins Sr. Cindy was a graduate of Oppenheim-Ephratah High School, class of 1973, and was a lifelong resident of the town of Oppenheim.
Miss Vokins was last employed for 20 years at Niagara Mohawk, working in Troy, Cobleskill, Schenectady and her main office in Gloversville. At one time, she was a hairdresser in Herkimer.
In her leisure, Cindy dedicated her time in volunteering for the Special Olympics. She also was an avid fan of the Dolgeville baseball and football team, and at one time coached for the Dolgeville Little League.
Cindy considered her family her foremost priority. She gave her full attention to the needs and concerns of her mother and siblings. She also devoted much of her time and love in the care of her nieces, nephews, great-nephew, and great-niece.
Survivors include her mother Eleanor; a brother, Davis W. Vokins Jr. and wife Emma of St. Johnsville; two sisters, Sandra Mosenthin and her husband Ted of Salisbury Center and Linda Desmond and husband Allen of Ilion; five nephews, Davis W. Vokins III, Michael Vokins, Frank Desmond and wife Heather, Corey Desmond, and Matthew Mosenthin; three nieces, Joelle and Danielle Desmond and Marissa Mosenthin; one great-nephew, Michael Desmond; and one great-niece, Morgan Desmond; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 3 p.m. from the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Saturday, Aug. 3 from noon until the time of the services. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. All memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics or to Ambulance Service of Fulton County. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. LITTLE FALLS — John Krupa Jr., 88, of 287 Church St., Little Falls, and since July of 2001 a resident of the Folts Home, Herkimer, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Little Falls Hospital where he had been a patient since July 23, 2002. He was born on July 17, 1914 in Little Falls, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Zeman) Krupa Sr. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School class of 1932 and had been a lifelong resident of Little Falls. He was united in marriage to the former Anna Duga on Sept. 6, 1936 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls, with the Rev. George Billy officiating. Mrs. Krupa predeceased him on Oct. 18, 2001. He is survived by two daughters, Eleanor A. Timmerman and her husband Ronald of Little Falls and Betty Jean Matteson and her husband David of Gansevoort; a brother, Paul Krupa and his wife Greta of Little Falls; four grandchildren, Wendy Marchese and her husband Sal of Little Falls, Ronald Timmerman Jr. and his wife Kris of Little Falls, Scott Timmerman of Little Falls, and Michele Matteson of Colonie; five great-grandchildren, Miranda and Vincent Marchese and Marina, Alexis, and Sophia Timmerman. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. from the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Gansevoort Street, Little Falls, with the rev. Carl Evans, pastor, officiating. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann St., Little Falls on Thursday, Aug. 1 from 6-9 p.m. and to attend the funeral services Friday afternoon. ONEONTA — Dean R. Moore, 64, of 119 RJM Lane, Oneonta, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at his residence after being in ill health for the last several months. He was born on Feb. 10, 1938 in Salisbury, son of the late Arnold G. and Leona (Nichols) Moore Sr. He was a graduate of Stratford Central High School, class of 1955. He was united in marriage to the former Joan M. Rockwell on March 26, 1960 at the Salisbury United Methodist Church Parsonage. He is survived by his wife Joan; his son Michael Moore and Trina of Franklin; his two daughters, Jodie Kluge of Salisbury and Lori Moore of Oneonta; two brothers, Arnold G. Moore Jr. and his wife Betty of Salisbury and Grant L. Moore and his wife Palma of Little Falls; two sisters, Harlene Cramer and Robert Darling of Salisbury and JoAnn Moore and John Cotter of Salisbury; eight grandchildren, April Avery, Kelsey and Tyler Kluge, Heidi Silvernail, Judson and Lindsay Youker, Shelbi and Cassidy Moore; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann St., Little Falls with the Rev. Robert Jeffers, pastor of the Salisbury United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Salisbury Rural Cemetery, town of Salisbury. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 1 from 10-11 a.m. and to attend the funeral services to follow. LITTLE FALLS — Joseph R. Evans, 91, of 50 Petrie St., Little Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at his residence. He was born on March 16, 1911 in Piermont, son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Dudik) Ivan. His family moved to Little Falls within the following year. He was educated in  Jefferson and Church street schools in Little Falls. He was united in marriage to his wife of 62 years, the former Carrie E. MacMillan on Dec. 17, 1934 in the town of Little Falls. Mrs. Evans predeceased him on Nov. 3, 1996. He is survived by two sons, Gary Evans and his wife Ann of Greshman, Ore. and Dan Evans of Little Falls; his daughter, Nancy Cunningham and her husband Glenn of Waltham, Mass; three brothers, Stephen Ivan and his wife Alice of East Herkimer, George Ivan of Tulsa, Okla., and Andrew Ivan and his wife Alma of Brisbane, Australia; five grandchildren, Yvonne Conrad and her husband Mike, Nan Helms and her husband Mike, David Cunningham and his wife Margi, John Cunningham, and Susan Page and her husband Bill; as well as seven great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann St., Little Falls where members of the Little Falls Masonic Lodge #181 F&AM will conduct their ritualistic service. Interment will take place in Curtis Cemetery, town of Salisbury, following the service. LITTLE FALLS — Eugene F. Pierce, 71, of 72 Moreland St., Little Falls, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Little Falls Hospital were he had been a patient since July 15, 2002. He was born on May 20, 1931, in Little Falls, the son of the late Charles and Pearl (Brown) Pierce. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School as well as a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College with a AAS degree in advertising design and production. He was united in marriage to the former June E. Edwards on September 26, 1970, at the First Baptist Church, Little Falls, with the Rev. Frederick Thorne officiating. He is survived by is wife, June; his son, James A. Pierce and his wife Kimberly, Dolgeville; a brother, Howard C. Pierce and his wife Betty, Long Beach,  Washington; two sisters, Charlotte Prinsen, Rochester, and Betty Ann Smullen and her husband Davis, Cocoa Beach, Florida; a granddaughter, Kathryn Pierce, Dolgeville; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 2, 2002, at 11 a.m. from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann St., Little Falls, with the Rev. Carl Evans, pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will take place in Salisbury Rural Cemetery, town of Salisbury. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann St., Little Falls. There are no calling hours. Louise Olga (Peters) Vespi
LITTLE FALLS — Mrs. Louise Olga (Peters) Vespi, age 87, of 29 Burch St., and a lifelong Little Falls resident passed away on Sunday morning, July 28, 2002 at Little Falls Hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Vespi was born on Feb. 17, 1915 and was raised and educated in Little Falls and attended St. Mary's Academy. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Antonia (Agostini) Peters.
She was united in holy matrimony to Guy D. Vespi on Nov. 20, 1938. The couple shared 41 blessed years of marriage until Mr. Vespi's passing on May 1, 1980.
She was last employed with Little Falls Hospital and at one time held employment with the former Sandri Dress Factory. She was a communicant of Holy Family Parish and its Rosary Society.
The primary purpose and mainstay of Louise's life was her family: her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild and other loved ones in her life. Her unconditional love shown to her family was extraordinary and will be sorely missed.
She leaves three beloved sons, Frank Vespi and wife Carol of S. Timbertrail, Fla., Gary Vespi of Little Falls and Guy Vespi and wife Cindy of Little Falls; two sisters, Mary Ambrosino and Margaret Guarmieri, both of Gloversville; a sister-in-law, Betty Vespi of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Joseph Vespi and wife Shelly, Aaron Vespi, Jason and Lucas Vespi; three step-grandchildren, Paul Penna, Jodi Gaines and Allen Penna; and a great-granddaughter, Sydney Vespi. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Amelio, Julie, Louis and Frank Peters; and a sister, Rose Ambrosino.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 from 5-8 p.m.
Mrs. Vespi's funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at 8:15 a.m. from the chapel of the Enea Funeral Home, Little Falls where prayer will be offered by Sister Marilyn Hayes, CSJ. Procession will follow to Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John streets, Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. by the Rev. Charles R. Celeste who serves as pastor. Committal service will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer.
Remembrances in honor of Louise may be made to the Little Falls Hospital Development Fund or to the Alzheimer's Association; envelopes are available at the funeral parlor. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Little Falls Hospital for the special care and concern shown to Louise and her family during this difficult time, especially mentioning Kathy Willis and Debbie Scarano. Mary Irene Ogden
CORTLAND — Mary Irene Ogden, 86, of Cortland, passed away Oct. 16, 2002, at Cortland Care Center. Miss Ogden was a native of Dolgeville and had lived in Cortland since 1960. Surviving are her two nephews, Jack Young of Cobleskill and William Young of Manlius. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Cortland, is in charge of arrangements.

ST. JOHNSVILLE/HERKIMER — Mrs. Julia A. Jaquay, 91, formerly of 7967 State Hwy. 5, St. Johnsville, who resided in the John Guy Prindle Apartments in Ilion for the past three years, died Tuesday evening Oct. 15, 2002 in Faxton-St. Luke's Hospital, St. Luke's Campus, New Hartford. She was born on Nov. 30, 1910 in the town of Salisbury, daughter of Richard and Julia (Clark) Blair and attended local schools. Her marriage to Stanley E. Jaquay took place on Dec. 7, 1946 in the Methodist Parsonage in Little Falls. Mr. Jaquay predeceased her on April 24, 1998. They had resided in the St. Johnsville area for over 20 years. Surviving her are her foster children Henry Filkins of Alabama, Ronald Filkins of Ilion, Jerry Filkins of Mohawk, Mrs. Ramona Corkey of Georgia, and Jean Hart of Gloversville, several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Dibble-Tuttle Cemetery, Emmonsburg Road, town of Salisbury. The Rev. Michael Yezierski, pastor of St. Johnsville Methodist Church, will officiate. There are no calling hours. Memorials may be sent to the St. Johnsville Ambulance Corps in her memory. Her funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville.

David J. Myers
FLORIDA — Mr. David J. "Minnow" Myers, 64, of 541 Blackburn Street, Englewood, Florida, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, in Florida.
He was born on January 23, 1938, in Mohawk, son of the late Henry and Mary (Wilson) Myers and attended schools in the Richfield and Mohawk areas. He was united in marriage with Kathleen "Kelly" Moynihan on March 20, 1971.
David was a veteran of the United States Navy and had gained employment with the Navy for over 22 years having worked on destroyers under the rank of machinist mate. He retired in 1975.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly; three brothers, Richard "Dick" Myers and wife Rosemary of Herkimer, Frederick Myers and wife Carol of Mohawk, and Mary Ann Childs and husband James of Mohawk; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 North  Washington St., Herkimer. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery where full military rites will be offered.
