Robert W. Buschman, 76, of 25 Perry St., Auburn, died Thursday. Born in Brooklyn, he graduated from high school in Albany. He was an electrician at Western Electric and retired in 1988 as a toll maintenance supervisor with the New York State Thruway Authority after 37 years. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. A daughter, Linda Buschman Kalitan, died in 1986.Survivors: His wife of 52 years, the former Shirley Pitcher; three daughters, Kathleen Buschman of Weedsport, Laureen Buschman and Julie Netti, both of Auburn; five sons, Rob, Douglas, James and Steven, all of Auburn, and Kenneth of Syracuse; eight grandchildren. Services: 9 a.m. Monday in St. Alphonsus Church. Burial, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming. Calling hours, 3 to 7 p.m. today and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Langham Funeral Home, 75 E. Genesee St., Auburn. Contributions: Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Drive, Auburn 13021.

Pauline Emerson

Pauline Walters Emerson, 88, of Mountain Laurel Drive, East Syracuse, died Aug. 29. She was born in East Syracuse. She was office manager at Bianchi & Sons Construction and was organist for St. Therese Church for 25 years. A daughter, Mary Beth Emerson Nodine, died in 1986.Survivors: Her husband, Charles; a daughter, Nancy Mack of Manlius; a son, Paul of DeWitt; six grandchildren. Services: Were in DeWitt. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, Syracuse, has arrangements.

Charles P. Garzone

Charles P. Garzone, 64, of Syracuse died Friday. He was born in Syracuse. He retired in 1997 as an insulator for Local 30 Asbestos Workers.Survivors: A daughter, Cathleen M. Wall of Chittenango; two sons, Charles A. and Daniel P., both of Syracuse; his mother, Lucille Avery of East Syracuse; two sisters, Carolyn Goodfellow of East Syracuse and Caron Andrews of Weedsport; four grandchildren. Memorial services: 7 p.m. Monday at Dewitt Memorial Funeral Home, 4901 Jamesville Road, DeWitt. No calling hours.

Genevieve Kauffman

Genevieve Kauffman, 64, of Las Vegas died Wednesday. She was born in Syracuse and she moved away in the early 1970s. Among survivors: Two sons, Thomas Jr. and Kenneth, both of Syracuse; two sisters, Emma LaMoy of Syracuse and Margaret Payne of Liverpool; a brother, Patrick Medler of Syracuse. Palm Mortuary, Las Vegas, has arrangements.

Frances W. Miller

Frances Wren Miller, 85, of Tully died Thursday. Born in Little Falls, she lived in Salisbury and Henrietta before moving to Tully in 1982. She retired in 1982 as a toll collector for the New York State Thruway Authority after 18 years. She volunteered at Cortland Memorial Hospital for 16 years. She was a communicant of St. Leo's Church in Tully and a member of Tully Senior Citizens. Her husband, John F. Sr., died in 1999.Survivors: Two daughters, Marcia Bowers of Dolgeville and Joanne M. Handy of Tully; a son, John F. Jr. of Watertown; two sisters, Donna Gardinier of Little Falls and Dorothy Ward of Herkimer; two brothers, James Wren of Little Falls and William Wren of Mohawk; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Monday in St. Leo's Church. Burial will be in Salisbury. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hartwell Funeral Home, 11 Clinton St., Tully. Contributions: Aurora Society for the Visual and Hearing Impaired, 518 James St., Syracuse 13203.

Marietta H. Ranger

Marietta H. Barry Ranger, 82, of Split Rock Road, Camillus, died Thursday at Francis House. Born in Syracuse, she lived in Mattydale many years before moving to Camillus 19 years ago. She graduated from Vocational High School. She retired in 1973 as a home health aide for Onondaga County Department of Health after several years. She attended St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale and was a member of Salina Civic Seniors. Her first husband, John D. Havens, died in 1973.Survivors: Her husband of 19 years, James E.; two stepdaughters, Linda Crosby and Judy Kearney, both of Syracuse; a stepson, James W. Ranger of Watertown; a sister, Beverly Klotz of Baldwinsville; a brother, Ronald E. Chase of New Port Richey, Fla. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Krueger Funeral Home. Burial, Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours, 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Contributions: Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse 13208.

Robert R. Stampalia

Robert R. "Bobby" Stampalia, 61, of Kellogg, Idaho, died Aug. 27. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Nottingham High School and Syracuse University and moved away 18 years ago. He and his father operated Stampalia Restaurant in DeWitt. He also owned Gally Restaurant in Anchor Bay,  Calif., and was executive chef at The Veranda Restaurant in Kellogg. He had served with the New York National Guard.Survivor: A brother, Jack of Syracuse. Services: He was cremated and his ashes were spread in Thompson River, Montana. Coffelt-Bunch Funeral Home, Plains, Mont., had arrangements.

Esther R. Taranto

Esther R. Carr Taranto, 78, of 13 Leon Ave., Cortland, died Friday. She was born in Killawog. She was a cafeteria worker at McGraw schools for 20 years. She was a member of McGraw United Methodist Church, Horse Pullers Association and Homer Senior Citizens. Her husband, Angelo, died in 1988.Survivors: Three sons, William Cobb of Scott, Thomas Taranto of Homer and Angelo Taranto of Hamilton; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Howard M. "Chip" Vincent, 83, formerly of 60 E. Fourth St., Oswego, died Thursday at Loretto Heights Nursing Home in Oswego. Born in Sterling, he attended Oswego schools. He had worked at Marathon Corp., St. Paul's Academy and was a custodian at Oswego County Courthouse. He was a member of Oswego Elks Lodge where he was a former exalted ruler and former Elk of the Year. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5885. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart. His wife, Kay, died in April.Survivors: A daughter, Barbara Hughes of Oswego; a son, Donald of Oswego; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's Church. Burial, St. Paul's Cemetery. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Dowdle Funeral Home, 154 E. Fourth St., Oswego.

Brian R. Adams

Brian R. Adams, 58, of Syracuse died Wednesday. He was born in Suffern. He worked for Laborers Local 433 and was a member of Laborers Local 34 in Hackensack, N.J. He formerly was active in Pop Warner Football and had played semi-professional football for the New Jersey Steelers. He was the third-place winner in the YMCA Eastern Shores Championship for Weightlifting in 1972. His first wife, the former Janet Ipsaro, died in 1966. Survivors: His wife of 25 years, the former Christine E. Kelly; a daughter, Brandy R. Adams of Syracuse; two sons, John B. Adams and Daniel Vanderbeek, both of Colorado; his father, Jack of New Jersey; a sister, Joanne Murphy of Nanuet; three brothers, Jay and Gregory, both of New Jersey, and James of New York City; one grandchild. Edmund H. Harmer, 64, of 107 Springmoor Drive, Liverpool, died Wednesday. Born in Adams, he graduated from Belleville Central School in 1955 and state Agricultural and Technical College at Morrisville in 1957. He retired in 1992 as marketing manager for John Deere Co. after 33 years. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse and S.C.O.R.E. in Syracuse. Survivors: His wife of 42 years, the former Phyllis A. Henry; a daughter, Sandra Crocker of North Syracuse; a son, David of Macedon; three sisters, Margretta Zehr of Buffalo, Anne Elmer of Oswego and Carol Cook of Parish; five grandchildren. Seamon of Canastota; a step-daughter, Linda Ackley of Westfield, Pa.; a step-son, Irving Seamon Jr. of Hot Springs, Ark.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
