He was a member of American Legion Post 169 in Oneida and Oneida Community Limited Retirement Club. She graduated from Moravia High School and Oneonta Teachers Training. She was a teacher in one-room schoolhouses and had worked for Cortland Line Co. and Howd Nursing Home in Moravia. She was a member of Sempronius Baptist Church and its former Star Class. She was a member of Groton Assembly of God Church. He was an honorary member of North Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps and an Arise volunteer. He was a ham radio operator for 26 years and initiated W2SYR Mobile Emergency Unit. He was a member of Military Affiliate Radio System, the Navy and Marine Corps Network, and sent Marsgrams around the world from 1978 to '97.Survivors: His wife, the former Marietta Buck; three daughters, Brenda J.
