Mr. Harold W. Bibik, Sr.
Ilion: Mr. Harold W. Bibik, Sr., 85, of N. Fifth Avenue, Ilion, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family.
Harold was born on January 14, 1926 in Richfield Springs, NY, a son of the late William and Rose (Janiec) Bibik. He was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School and was a lifelong area resident. He married Clara Voght in 1949. On November 16, 1973, he married Lois Null, who passed away in 1991.
Mr. Bibik enjoyed quilting and owned his own business, “The Sewing B’s,” for many years. His last employment was in furniture and appliance sales with Montgomery Wards in Herkimer and Rome, retiring in 1990. Most recently, he was a weekend greeter at Remington Arms Museum, Ilion.
Harold especially enjoyed gardening, growing vegetables and flowers, and passed along that pleasure and talent to his granddaughters.
His loving children, Kathy Joy and her husband Robert, and Harold, Jr. “Hal”, all of Ilion, survive Mr. Bibik. He also leaves his granddaughters, Jennifer Joy and her fiancé Richard Bachelder, Kimberly Joy, Christina Joy and Chick Scaparo, and Amy Joy Mariotti, and one great-grandson, Logan. He is also survived by his sisters, Frances Newsome of Richmond, VA, Elizabeth Eaton of Schoharie, NY, and Mary and Jimmy Andrecheck of South Columbia, NY, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Lois, brothers, Edward, Stanley, Benjamin and Vincent, and his sisters, Anna, Sophie and Josephine.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, May 6, 2011, from 9-11 am at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, between Ilion and Frankfort (894-8000). His funeral will commence at the conclusion of calling hours at 11 am, also at the funeral home, conducted by Deacon James Bower of Annunciation Church, Ilion. Burial will take place at Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, later, at the convenience of the family.
Harold’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of floral offerings, contributions in Harold’s memory may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care., Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Dr. Eugene W. Perkowski
HERKIMER - Dr. Eugene W. Perkowski, age 94, of Gray St., passed away on Friday evening, April 29, 2011 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his devoted family members and friends.
He was born on July 7, 1916 in Bridgeport, Conn., son of the late Julian and Stephanie (Dworkowski) Perkowski. Eugene, at the age of 5, returned to Poland with his family. He was a graduate of the University of Warsaw, Poland and received a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. During World War II, Eugene was an active member of the Polish Partisan Movement. On November 25, 1948 Dr. Perkowski was united in marriage with Anna M. Danielczuk at St. Michael’s Church, Bridgeport, Conn., a loving and devoted union of 62 years. Eugene had a long career with the United States Department of Agriculture as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He was an active member of the Florida Knights of Columbus and the Polish Falcons. Mr. and Mrs. Perkowski enjoyed traveling and spent 25 years wintering in Delray Beach, Florida.
Survivors include his devoted family; his loving wife of 62 years, Anna; three children: Hedy Perkowski of Herkimer, Dorothy Massinger and husband Al of Herkimer, and Joseph Perkowski and wife Elaine Compolo of Cicero; a brother, Edward Perkowski and wife Sophie of Stratford, Conn; four grandchildren: Timothy Michael Massinger and fiancé, Lauren Frost, Thomas James Massinger and wife Mary Miller, Sara Morrice and husband Mike, and Dr. Matthew Perkowski and his wife Dr. Kristy Frain-Perkowski; a great granddaughter, Ashley Morrice; several nieces, nephews and cousins and in laws: Stanley Danielczuk and wife Dorothy of Conn., and Bernadette Perkowski of  South Carolina. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Perkowski and Tadeusz Perkowski and by a sister, Dr. Helena Jarzynski.
Calling hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N.  Washington St., Herkimer (866-1011) will be on Monday (today), May 2nd, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. Dr. Perkowski’s funeral will commence at 8:45 am on Tuesday, May 3rd, from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 9:30 from Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. He will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Bridgeport, Conn., on Wednesday, May 4th at 1:30 p.m.
The family would like to thank Hospice Care, Inc., for their loving care and also to Eugene’s care givers, Helen, Betty, Francine, Terry, Kathy, Laura, Diana and John for their compassion. Memorial contributions can be made to Folts Homes Adult Day Care or to Herkimer HARC Guardianship Committee; envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home. The family is being served by Funeral Director, Kevin E. Enea.

Marguerite "Peggy" Putman
September 10, 1920 - April 26, 2011
ST. JOHNSVILLE- Mrs. Peggy Putman, 90, a lifelong resident of St. Johnsville entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Peggy was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
She was born on September 10, 1920 in St. Johnsville, daughter of the late Mary and John Fiacco. Peggy was educated in the St. Johnsville Schools. She worked in the cafeteria at the St. Johnsville High School and at Capece’s Restaurant, both of which she enjoyed. She was a communicant of the St. Patrick’s Church.
Peggy enjoyed the company of her family and friends, especially Thursday night spaghetti dinners She also enjoyed crocheting baby blankets and booties for new family members. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Her lemon drop cookies were enjoyed by all who had them. A loving and caring person, Peggy will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
Survivors include her children: Mary Lou Donohue and her husband Richard of Amsterdam, Jon Putman of St. Johnsville, Lora Mosher of St. Johnsville and Michael Putman of St. Johnsville; her grandchildren: Michele Donohue, Mary Beth (Bob) St. Dennis of Ballston Spa, Michael (Pam) Donohue of Johnstown, Jacqueline Putman of St. Johnsville, Jennifer (Paul) Scripter of St. Johnsville, Michael Putman of St. Johnsville, Christopher (Janell) Mosher of St. Johnsville and Megan Mosher of St. Johnsville; her sister Eleanor Klymkow; her special niece Carol Pedro and her special nephew Jamie Richard. She was predeceased by her sisters Fedora Richard and Laura Bryn.
In keeping with Peggy’s wished there are no calling hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30pm on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Our Lady Of Hope Church in Fort Plain. Procession will follow to St. Johnsville Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.

Arlene M. Henson, 74, of Baldwinsville died Saturday. Born in Eastwood, she had also lived in DeWitt. She graduated from Eastwood High School and Cortland State University. She retired as a teacher for the Onondaga Central school system after 30 years. She was co-director of the Syracuse Marauders Junior Drum and Bugle Corps and was founder and director of the Eastwood 76ers Junior Drum and Bugle Corps. She was a member of Carriage House Tappers dance group and played trumpet with the Liverpool Community Band.Survivors: A son, Rhys C. of Long Beach,  Calif.; a brother, William McCarthy of Baldwinsville. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial, Assumption Cemetery. Maria Albanese

Maria Pallotta Albanese, 82, of Syracuse, died Monday at Loretto. Born in Italy, she lived in Syracuse since 1956. She retired from St. Joseph's Hospital after 11 years and was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei Church. Her husband, Nicolangelo, died in 1996.Survivors: A daughter, Mary Damato of Liverpool; a son, Anthony of Cicero; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. John Finch Arneson, 82, of 177 Fayette Blvd., Syracuse, died Aug. 30. Born in Minneapolis, Minn., he attended Harvard Law School and University of Minnesota Law School. He retired in 1997 after more than 50 years as a lawyer. He was a member of Masonic groups, including the Scottish Rite. He was a member of the New York State Bar Association, Mensa and Sons of the American Revolution. He served in the Minnesota National Guard.Survivors: Two daughters, Kathleen Aiken of Tully and Margaret Arneson of Syracuse; two sons, Peter of Minneapolis and Andrew of Princeton, N.J.
