Wanda Ann Tiffany

ONEONTA — Mrs. Wanda Ann Wayman Tiffany, 66, of Goodyear Lake died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002.

She was born in Afton on July 8, 1936, a daughter of Homer and Myrtle (Baldwin) Pearce.

Wanda has been an area resident her entire life and spent her years raising her family. She enjoyed dancing, country music and rodeos.

She is survived by one daughter, Theresa Sloat of Maryland; four sons, Danny and Charlie Wayman of Westford, Homer Wayman of Oneonta and Ricky Hall of Unadilla; a brother, Homer Pearce Jr. of Unadilla; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wanda was predeceased by a son, Melvin Wayman Jr. in 1986; and her husband, Melvin Wayman Sr. in 2001.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home in Milford, with the Rev. John Young officiating.

Burial will follow in Milford Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home in Milford, when the family will be in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions may be made to the Milford Fire Department and Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 359, Milford NY 13807.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Mildred M. Dixson

ATHENS, Pa. — Mildred M. Dixson, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002.

She was born May 21, 1907, in Albany, N.Y., the daughter of James and Marian Ferguson Mead.

Mildred lived most of her life in Morris, N.Y. She worked for many years at Morris Central School as a cashier/cook in the cafeteria.

She will be remembered by her gift of hospitality to family, friends and traveling missionaries. She was a member of the Morris Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for more than 40 years in the primary department. She loved the Lord, and her home and heart were always open to those in need for a listening ear or transportation to the doctors. She gave her life ministering to family and friends whether for physical, spiritual or emotional needs.

Mildred was predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, Bruce A. Beardsley; her second husband, F. Earl Dixson; and her daughter, Catherine A. Beardsley.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne B. and Kenneth N. Cooke of Bentley Creek, Pa.; grandchildren, Daniel and Joyce L. Cooke of Bentley Creek, Pa., Aimee and Phillip Comfort of Bath, N.Y., Nathan B. and Terri L. Cooke of Lancaster, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Peter, Ariel and Victoria; one nephew, Robert Dyckman Jr.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 South Main St., Athens, Pa.

Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Eric Ferguson, pastor of the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church, officiating and the Rev. John McConnell of the Southside Alliance Church of Elmira, N.Y., co-officiating.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in the Hillington Cemetery, Morris, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to the First Baptist Church, 31 S. Broad St., Morris, NY 13808.

Donald C. Bush Sr.

MARGARETVILLE — Donald C. Bush Sr., 62, of Frog Alley Road, Margaretville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at the Margaretville Memorial Hospital, Margaretville after a long battle with cancer

He was born March 8, 1940, in Liberty, the son of Charles E. (Dorothy Germond) Bush.

He married Rose Hunter on June 27, 1959, in Margaretville.

He retired in 1995 from Belleayre Ski Center, where he worked for 38 years. He was a lifelong area resident.

He was a member of NRA and the Upper Esopus Fish & Game Club.

He was an exempt member of the Halcottsville Fire Department.

Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors and enjoyed Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Bush of Margaretville; two sons, Donald Bush Jr. and Charles Bush and his wife, Beth, both of Margaretville; grandchildren, Rowen Bennett Bush of Trenton, N.J., Khristen Bush of Delhi, Kevan, Kyle, Katie, Keri, Kollin and Korey Bush and Brandon and Ethan Bush; aunts, Lucy Bush of Roscoe, and Lenora Bush of Delhi; nieces and nephews, George and Sherry Bush of Margaretville, Louie and Cindy Bush of Tillson, James Bush of Margaretville and Linda Bush; and several cousins.

He was predeceased by one son, Ryan Bush, he died in 1975; half-sister, Marguerite Bush, and brothers, Lloyd Bush and Clyde Bush.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at the United Presbyterian Church, Margaretville, with Diane Wickham, officiating.

Burial will be in the Margaretville Cemetery, Margaretville.

Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Contributions in memory of Donald C. Bush Sr., may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Halcottsville Fire Department, Hallcottsville.

Arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Dorothy J. Falace

ONEONTA — Dorothy J. Falace, 90, of Oneonta passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Nursing Home.

She was born May 19, 1912, in Oneonta, the daughter of William and Rose Bleecker.

She worked as a seamstress for many years at Richard's Dress Factory.

Dorothy enjoyed listening to and dancing to big band music.

Two very close friends, Allen and Maxine Black of Otego, survive her.

There will be no calling hours.

Burial and committal services will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta.

Irene D. Little

DeLANCEY — Irene D. Little, 90, of DeLancey died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at Oneonta Nursing Home in Oneonta.

Irene was born Dec. 30, 1911, in Grooville, the daughter of Madison and Carrie Finkle Townsend.

She married John Gregg Little in 1930. He predeceased her in 1972.

Irene was a resident of the Andes area for over 75 years. She was a member of the Cabin Hill Presbyterian Church and its Missionary Society.

She worked for many years in the Andes Central School cafeteria.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Susie Little of Unadilla, Robert and Jean Little of Stamford; three daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Doug Stevens of DeLancey, Carrie Ingram of Davenport, and Beatrice and Joe Davis of Port Crane; a daughter-in-law, Betty Little of DeLancey; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sons, Albert and Richard Little.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at Cabin Hill Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Daniel McCollister, pastor, officiating.

Burial following in Andes Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Jester-Stanley Funeral Home, when the family will be in attendance.

Memorials to her church or the charity of your choice in the name of Irene Little are appreciated.

Kathryn Gilday

CHERRY VALLEY — Kathryn (Kay) Gilday, 91, died Friday evening, Oct. 4, 2002, at Glens Falls Hospital.

She was born on Oct. 16, 1910, in Newark, N.J., to Joseph and Florence (Robinson) Williams.

She married Walter (Buster) Gilday on Aug. 16, 1934, in Lake Luzerne. They were longtime residents of Cherry Valley.

Kay was a very active member of the Presbyterian church for many years. She was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge, Homemakers and the Cherry Valley Historical Society and the Presbyterian Ladies Society.

She is survived by a daughter, Joanne Wickwire and husband, Warren of Gillette, Wyo.; two grandsons, Randy Wickwire and wife Gayle of Globe, Ariz., and children, Levi, Dylan and Shayna, and Larry Wickwire and wife, Karla of Aladdin, Wyo., and children, Melissa, Travis, Graham and Kolby. She is also survived by several nieces and a nephew.

She was predeceased by her husband; and a son, Fred.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at the Presbyterian Church in Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Ron Fralick officiating.

Burial will be at the Cherry Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the Presbyterian Church, Cherry Valley, NY 13320.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Lois Venth

HARPERSFIELD — Memorial services for Lois Venth, who passed away on June 23, 2002, in Halifax Hospital, Daytona Beach, Fla., will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at the Harpersfield Grange Hall in Harpersfield.

Calice S. Goulette

BRADENTON, Fla. — Calice S. Goulette, 77, formerly of Sidney, N.Y., died Sept. 26, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton Fla.

Calice was born in Middlebury, Vt., the son of the late Almeda Goulette Gager and Albert Goulette.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He enjoyed a career of truck driving, dispatching and, in most resent years, as a bus driver.

Calice and his wife, Norma, lived in Sidney for many years moving to Florida in 1975.

Survivors include his wife, Norma; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Ilene Goulette of Sidney, N.Y.; and two brothers, Clifford of Sidney, N.Y., and Mervin of Hawaii; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to South Eastern Guide Dogs, 4210 77th Street E., Palmetto, Fla. 34221.

Jean Shepard

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Jean Shepard, 81, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Sept. 14, 2002.

She was born in upstate New York, and graduated from Oneonta High School in 1938. She moved from Oneonta in 1967.

Her husband, Robert E. Shepard, preceded her in death in 1988.

A son, Mark Shepard, his wife, Toni of Port Charlotte, Fla., and a daughter, Deborah Murphy and her husband, Paul of Jacksonville, Fla., survive her. Five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive her.

While in Oneonta, Mrs. Shepard was a member of Main Street Baptist Church. In Florida she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda.

At her request, there will be no service.

Friends and family remember her for her loving, caring and giving spirit

Donations can be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida.

Wanda Ann Tiffany

Vincent Capaccio

OXFORD — Vincent Dante Capaccio "Jim," born Nov. 29, 1907, in New York City, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at the New York State Veteran's Home in Oxford.

Jim grew up in New York City, Meriden, Connecticut and Philadelphia, Pa., with 12 brothers and sisters.

He served in the Army for five years and one day. He was instrumental in forming the 7th General Hospital in Potters Bar, England, outside of London, during World War II. Jim worked there as an orthotist.

Jim was always a golfer, even while in the service.

Jim married Ruth Pearl Rickard of Walton on Jan. 11, 1942, "the day the wine froze," at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Walton.

After the war he returned to Sidney. He attended Siena College and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in accounting in 1951, while raising five children and working as a barber with Jerry Simonian in Latham during the week and at Sam's Barbershop in Sidney on weekends. After graduation he worked at Scintilla in the cost accounting department until he retired in 1972. He also worked as an encyclopedia salesman, a barber and an income tax preparer throughout his adult life.

He was passionate about his golf and played with his golfing buddies in Sidney and Florida.

Jim became a snow bird after Ruth's retirement and they spent many happy winters in Rotunda, Fla., with many new and cherished friends.

He enjoyed traveling and visited his daughter, Mary Ann, in 1964, while she was in Germany, with her husband, Mike who was serving in the U.S. Army. He also visited his son, Tony while he was serving in the U.S. Army in Belgium in 1973.

Jim was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sidney and was actively involved in the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; and all of his children and their spouses, Mary Ann and Mike Prucnal of Pasadena, Md., Vincent and Cindy Capaccio of Raphine, Va., Anthony and Helen Capaccio of Norwich, Alicia and Tom Pritchard of Hartwick, and Theresa and Robert Petrocelli of Pasadena, Md.; two sisters, Mary Koch of Springfield, Mass., and Alice Walecka of Orlando, Fla., 10 grandchildren; and 41/2 great-grandchildren.

Jim lived in Hartwick with his wife, Ruth, and their daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Tom Pritchard, for six years prior to his admission to the New York State Veterans' Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the state Veterans' Home Patient Fund or the charity of your choice.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at Sacred Heart Church in Sidney, with the Rev. Fr. Gordon, pastor officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at C.H. Landers Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Burial will be in Walton Cemetery in Walton.

Arrangements are by C.H. Landers Inc., 21 Main St., Sidney.
