Lulu Kathryn Svendsen Snook, 80, of Fayetteville died Friday. She was born in Fayetteville. She graduated from Fayetteville High School and Powelson Business Institute. She was secretary and treasurer for 58 years of Snook's Pond in Manlius.Survivors: Her husband of 58 years, Carlton; three daughters, Judy Hamilton of Rancho Palos Verdes,  Calif., Linda Snook of Holliston, Mass., and Susan Hollister of Pittsfield, Mass.; a sister, Laura McNeill of Pompey; a brother, Cameron Svendsen of Waymart, Pa.; eight grandchildren. Avanelle Jane Stuffing, 84, of Des Moines, Wash., died Sept. 7. Born in  Oklahoma, she graduated from Wichita State University and taught in Dodge City, Kan. In 1953, she moved to Syracuse, where she lived until moving to  Washington state in 1992. Her husband, Gene, and her son, Wayne, died previously.Survivors: A daughter, Jan Unbehend of Seattle; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter. Harold L. Tarbell

Harold L. Tarbell, 96, of DeWitt died Saturday. He was born in East Freetown. He graduated from Union College. He retired in 1970 as an engineer and land surveyor for the state Department of Transportation. He was a member and former trustee of Gethsemane United Methodist Church. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a member of Cincinnatus Lodge 706, F&AM; the Cortland Lodge of Perfection; and Syracuse Consistory; and member and past president of Central New York Society of Land Surveyors. His wife, Esther L., died in 1990.Survivors: Three daughters, Cynthia M. Ianuzzi of North Syracuse, Nancy L. Rooney of New Hartford and Diane J. Tarbell of Syracuse; two sisters, Easter Alcott of McGraw and Iona Dannon of  Johnson City; two brothers, Richard of McGraw and Lawrence of Fort Worth,  Texas; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Richard W. Truax, 79, of 408 Furniss Road, Oswego, died Thursday. He was born in Fulton. He was a forklift operator for Container Corp. of America. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, the former Vivian Simmons, died in 1997.Survivors: Three daughters, Sharon Himes of North Carolina, Bonnie Norris of Hannibal and Kathie Shattell of Fulton; a son, Shawn of Minetto; three sisters, Janet Knox and Muriel Minota, both of Phoenix, and Joyce LaFlamm of Fulton; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. Esther Mary Conger Corey, 81, of River Road, Phoenix, died Saturday. Born in Liverpool, she graduated from Phoenix High School. She retired after 10 years as a stock clerk at Dey Bros. in Syracuse. She also worked at Phoenix Central Schools and Nestle in Fulton. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and the Schroeppel Historical Society.Survivors: Her husband of 59 years, Marshall F.; a daughter, Cynthia A. Oatman of Lakewood,  Colo.; a son, John B. of McMurray, Pa.; a sister, Margaret Wiley of Pennellville; a brother, Burt Conger of Osteen, Fla.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Route 31, Moyers Corners. A reception will follow in the church. No calling hours. Margaret E. Frawley, 80, of Towpath Towers, Fulton, died Sunday at St. Luke Health Services. She was born in Fulton. She retired in 1984 from A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, where she worked in the cafeteria. She previously worked for Fay's Drugs in Fulton and was a cafeteria cashier at Erie Street Elementary School. She was a former secretary of the Towpath Towers Residents Council. Her husband, John F., died in 1964. A daughter, Patricia Ann, and a son, Daniel, died previously.Survivors: Three daughters, Mary Williams of Miami, Fla., Yvonne Schermerhorn of Manlius and Robin Christenson of Albany; a sister, Carol Coe of Fulton; a brother, Grove Seymour of Fulton; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. William H. Horan

William H. Horan, 74, of East Lake Road, Cazenovia, died Friday. Born in Oswego, he lived in Cazenovia for 49 years. He graduated from Oswego High School and the State University College at Oswego and attended Syracuse University. He retired in 1985 after 32 years as a history teacher. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cazenovia, a Paul Harris Fellow of the Cazenovia Rotary Club, a director of the Madison County Historical Society and a charter member of the Cazenovia Volunteer Ambulance Corps.Survivors: His wife of 46 years, the former Marie Fuggle; a sister, Mary Easton of Sherman,  Texas. Bernard A. Schafran, 80, of Syracuse died Sunday. He was born in Syracuse. He retired in 1973 after 21 years as a firefighter in Syracuse. He was a member of Friedens E&R United Church of Christ. He was a member of the board of directors of the Firefighters Credit Union for 25 years and was its volunteer of the year for 2001. He won the Hamilton  White Brotherhood Award and was a member of the Syracuse Fire Department Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II.Survivors: His wife of 53 years, Veronica F.; a daughter, Sandra A. Krick of Bridgeport; two grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home. Gary Allan Dupont, 37, of 3084 county Route 2, Pulaski, died Wednesday. Born in Oswego, he graduated from Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School. He had also lived in Orwell and Altmar. He worked for Mandigo Farm in Pulaski for 10 years and at Rite-Aid Distribution Center in Rome for the past two years. Survivors: His companion, Margret Skellington; his mother, Sharon A. Sampson of Altmar; his father, Kenneth Dupont of Camden; two sisters, Tina Thurston of Altmar and Tammy Henry of Orwell; two brothers, Kenneth and Ronald, both of Atlmar; five stepbrothers, Kenneth, Glenn and Frank Sampson of Ogdensburg, Mark Sampson of Altmar and Scott Sampson of Williamstown. She was grand regent for the state of New York Catholic Daughters of America and an Oswego Harborfest volunteer. She attended Sacred Heart Church in Scriba. Her husband, Thomas, died previously. He was self-employed as a building contractor and developer and also worked as a project manager for Cadillac Fairview Corp. He was a communicant of St. Agatha's Church and a longtime member of the Delano Hose Co. of the Canastota Fire Department. He was a member of the Old Timers Club and served in the National Guard for several years. He was a practicing partner with Hiscock & Barclay law firm since 1983. He was a member of three bar associations, including Onondaga County and was chair of the Hiscock & Barclay Environmental & Municipal & Government practice groups. His family has been a foreign exchange student host family and he was past principal counsel for the Manlius Town Board. Survivors: His wife of 22 years, the former Mary Ann Francher; a daughter, Anna Wilson of Fabius; three sons, Michael, Christopher and Matthew, all of Fabius; his mother, Catherine Wilson of Jordan; three brothers, Ken of  South Carolina, Bill of Clay and Kevin of Illinois; his paternal grandmother, Emma Wilson of Sanbel, Fla.
