Charles Caroccio, 80, of 60 W. Eighth St., Oswego, died Saturday. He was born in Oswego. He owned and operated Custom Cabinetry and Caroccio Builders, both in Oswego. He was a member of Carpenters Local 747 for more than 50 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church's Holy Name Society and Oswego Kiwanis. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. His wife of 56 years, Genevieve Caroccio, died Sunday. A daughter, Catherine Caroccio Heagerty, died in 1976; a son, Robert, died in 1995.Survivors: A daughter, Mary Ann Caroccio of Alexandria, Va.; three sons, Charles, John and Joseph, all of Oswego; three sisters, Natalie Alton of Pennellville, Bernadette Capling of Liverpool and Marion Pullen of Oswego; a twin brother, Joseph of New Jersey; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Church choir, the St. Anne's Society, the Oswego YMCA Rockettes and the Oswego Hospital Auxiliary. Her husband of 56 years, Charles, died Saturday. Woodrow W. Snyder, 88, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of DeWitt, died Friday. He retired as a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force. He served in World War II and the Korean War. Two of his duty tours were at the Syracuse Filter Center and Air Force ROTC at Syracuse University. After retirement from the service he was director of the audio-visual department at Jamesville-DeWitt High School. He was a member of the DeWitt Community Church Choir.Survivors: His wife, the former Glenna Minor; a daughter, Judy Kimie Snyder of Petersburg, Va.; a son, Warren Wilson Snyder of Sebring, Fla. She was a homemaker and a member of Congress of Racial Equality. Sophie Billek

SOUTH KORTRIGHT — Sophie Slavinski Billek, 92, of South Kortright died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at the South Kortright Rest Home, South Kortright.

She was born Aug. 19, 1910, in Bloomville, the daughter of Anthony and Helen (Swiderska) Dorosky.

She married Sigmund Slavinski on June 6, 1936, in Stamford. He predeceased her in 1975. She married Adam Billek on Dec. 15, 1984. He predeceased her in 1999.

A lifelong resident of Bloomville, Sophie was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and took special pride in her lilies. She also had a special fondness for dancing.

Sophie was a member of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Catholic Church of South Kortright. She was also a longtime member of the Bloomville Fireman's Auxiliary and belonged to the American Legion Post No. 90 Auxiliary.

She is survived by her two sons, Edward A. Slavinski and his wife, Gloria, of Oneonta, and Paul D. Slavinski and his wife, Anna, of Howes Cave; six grandchildren, Peter and his wife, Linda, Mark and his wife, Margaret, John, Tom, Phynetta and Patrick; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Schabloski of Warsaw and Genevieve Chichester of Bloomville; a sister-in-law, Gladys Dorosky; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her grandson, Daniel; a brother, Frank Dorosky; and a sister, Josephine O'Blinski.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Sacred Heart Church, Stamford, with the Rev. Anthony Ligato and the Rev. John Burns officiating.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Stamford, following the service.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Catskill Area Hospice, 20 Elm St., Delhi, NY 13753.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Hilda M. Davis

ROXBURY — Hilda M. Davis, 82, of Roxbury passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at the Margaretville Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 1, 1920, in Hobart, the daughter of Adelbert Lockwood and Ollie Hosier.

She married Franklin P. Davis on Feb. 14, 1939, in Montrose, Pa. Mr. Davis predeceased her on June 28, 1966.

Hilda was a homemaker and a resident of Roxbury for 39 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Joyce O'Neil, and husband, Daniel, Roxbury; one son, John Davis, and wife, Barbara, Roxbury; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Reed and wife, Sandy, Karna Reed, Veronica Richards and husband, Bill, Richard Davis and wife, Tricia; one brother, Adelbert Lockwood, Cobleskill; Nick Turturo, her companion of 33 years of Howes Cave; William Reed, family friend, California; six great-grandchildren, Matthew and Patrick Reed, Venessa and Steven Richards, Jacob and Jared Davis; two step-grandchildren, David and Danny O'Neil; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother and father; her brother, James Lockwood; and her grandson, William Reed.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at the Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury, with the Rev. Richard Dykstra officiating. Burial will be in Roxbury Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 1, 2002.

Contributions in memory of Hilda M. Davis may be made to the Ambulance Fund of the Roxbury Fire Department, Roxbury, NY 12474.

Sarah Feringa

NORWICH — Sarah Haycock Feringa, 89, of Norwich and formerly of Burlington Flats, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, with her husband by her side.

She was born March 29, 1913, in Hillburn, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Herbert) DuVall.

She married the Rev. Harold Haycock in 1935. He predeceased her in 1988. Sarah married Yelta Feringa in 1993, at the C.M.A. Church in Norwich.

Sarah was a homemaker, a member of Senior Citizens, and the New Covenant Immanuel Baptist Church in Norwich. She had a wonderful zest for life, and in her later years enjoyed traveling with Yelta.

Sarah is survived by her son, Harold L. Haycock Jr. and his wife, Ellie, of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Harold L. Haycock III, Beth Stringham, Bill Gray and Ken Gray; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston. Calling hours are just before the service on Saturday, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Burlington Flats Cemetery

Donations may be made in Sarah's memory to the New Covenant Immanuel Baptist Church, 16 American Ave., Norwich, NY 13815.

Joseph Staudohar

WORCESTER — Joseph P. Staudohar, 92, formerly of Bedford Hills, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born Feb. 18, 1910, in Brooklyn, the son of Anton and Helen (Zurl) Staudohar.

Mr. Staudohar was retired from Texaco Inc. in Manhattan, where he was an Administrative Supervisor.

He was predeceased by his wife, Therese B. (Stork) Staudohar on Oct. 9, 1999.

He is survived by a son, Joel and his wife, Lucille Staudohar of Worcester; a daughter, Consuelo and her husband, James Pasquale of Stony Point; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Worcester, with the Rev. Edward Golding as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Worcester, or the Worcester Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 191, Worcester, NY 12197.

P. Kenneth Cook

PRESTON HOLLOW — P. Kenneth Cook, 85, of Preston Hollow passed away at his home on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002.

He was born on April 3, 1917, the son of the late Melvin and Maude (Wilsey) Cooke.

Ken was a mechanic and had worked for Gilboa-Conesville Central School. He was also a member of the Potter Hollow Union Church.

His wife, Irene (Delameter) Cook, predeceased him in 2001.

He is survived by a son, Roger Cook and wife, Ruth, of Conesville; his grandchildren, Marilynn Clark and husband, Rick, Carolyn Faraci and husband, Gary, Kenneth Mattice and wife, Theresa, Gene Mattice and wife, Pam, Phillip Mattice and wife, Tracey, and Betsy Mattice; also 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Lester, Ralph and Frederick (Pete) Cooke and two sisters, Mildred Smith and Lina Moore.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville.

Friends may call at the Cunningham Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. Interment will be in the Potter Hollow Cemetery.

Frances Maycock

UNADILLA — Frances L. Maycock, 92, of state Highway 7 in Unadilla, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at her residence.

She was born June 24, 1910, in Miners Mills, Pa., the daughter of the late John and Melissa Hess Cordick.

On Feb. 15, 1932, she married James E. Maycock in Askam, Pa. Mr. Maycock predeceased her on Jan. 2, 1973.

She was a retired employee of the Amphenol Corp. in Sidney. Frances was a longtime member of the Sidney First Baptist Church and the I. A.M.& A.M. Local 1529 Sidney.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Ann Maycock of Utica; three grandchildren, Tracy, Robert and Katie Maycock; and three great-grandchildren, Daniel, Joey and Andrew Maycock. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Six sisters, Martha, Emily, Mae, Naomi, Rose and Alice, and two brothers, William B. and John S. Cordick, predeceased Frances.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, from the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, at 21 Main St. in Sidney, with the Rev. David Fraher, officiating.

Burial will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney.

Friends are invited to call at their convenience Monday at the funeral chapel. Her family will be in attendance from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

Memorial gifts in her name may be directed to the Sidney Emergency Squad or to the First Baptist Church, River Street, Sidney, NY 13838.
