Randy Williams

JOHNSTOWN,  Colo. — Randy Williams Jr., 18, of Johnstown, formerly of Loveland, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.

He was born Nov. 1, 1984, in Carmel, N.Y., to Randy A. Williams Sr. and Robin M. Byrnes Williams.

He was a senior at Thompson Valley High School. He had just been accepted to Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont. He was a member of the varsity baseball team. He worked in shipping and receiving at the Loveland ShopKo.

He was a former resident of Missoula, Mont., and Oneonta, N.Y. He had been a resident of Loveland since March 1998 and recently moved to Johnstown,  Colo., with his parents.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He liked to help people and was well thought of by his peers.

He had been active with the Loveland Baseball Association since the seventh grade. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, camping with friends, snowblading, climbing and hiking. He was very family oriented.

He is survived by his parents, Randy and Robin Williams of Johnstown; two sisters, Marianna Williams and Katie Williams, both of Johnstown; best friend and girlfriend, Stephanie Marez of Loveland, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation was 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at Allnutt Funeral Service Hunter Chapel.

Recitation of the rosary was at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John's, 1730 W. 12th St.

Burial was in Loveland Burial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Randy Williams Jr. Memorial Fund in care of Home State Bank, 2695 W. Eisenhower Blvd., Loveland, CO 80538.

Winfred C. Arnold

MIDDLEFIELD — Winfred C. Arnold Sr., 96, formerly of Burlington Flats, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at The Meadows in Middlefield.

He was born Jan. 11, 1906, the son of Deforest. F. and Libby (Mayne) Arnold.

He married Vena Bethiah Welch on Sept. 23, 1926. She predeceased him on Dec. 28, 1975.

Winfred was a participant in life, following the path God presented before him. He was a member of the West Edmeston Baptist Church, where he had also served as past Deacon. Winfred enjoyed singing in the Men's Quartet, and was a charter member of the Otsego Electric Co-op, which he served on for over 50 years.

He is survived by his three sons, Winfred C. Arnold Jr. of Burlington Flats, Russell W. Arnold of Alaska, and Ralph E. Arnold of New Hartford; 11 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the West Edmeston Baptist Church, with Pastor Don Buck and the Rev. Russell Arnold officiating.

Calling hours are on Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home in Edmeston.

Burial will be in the spring at Burlington Flats Cemetery, Burlington Flats.

Arrangements by Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.

John A. Cook

FLY CREEK — John A. Cook, 48, of Fly Creek, died early Sunday morning, Dec. 29, 2002, at home following an extended illness.

He was born on March 27, 1954, in Oneonta, a son of Howard A. Cook Jr., and the late Fannie Lake Cook.

A lifelong resident of Fly Creek, John graduated from Cooperstown Central School with the Class of 1972.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. For many years he had been employed as a kitchen steward at the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown.

John is survived by his father, Howard A. Cook Jr., of Woodside Hall in Cooperstown; a brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Judith Cook of Fly Creek; a sister, Patricia Forbes of Verona; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown, when John's family will be in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 31 Adams Ave., Endicott, N.Y. 13760.

Services and burial will be private in the spring at the Fly Creek Valley Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.

Joseph A. Lopilato

HARTWICK — Joseph A. Lopilato, 71, of State Route 205 in Hartwick, formerly of Port  Washington, Long Island, died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 28, 2002, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born on Jan. 23, 1931, in Boston, Mass., a son of Andrew and Eva ( Schmidt) Lopilato.

Joseph grew up in Jamaica Plains, near Boston, and attended local schools.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. For many years he was a union and self-employed carpenter in New York City and on Long Island.

Joseph has made his home in the Hartwick area for the past 25 years. He especially enjoyed collecting steins.

He is survived by a daughter, Dawn and her husband, Jared Drew, of Rocky Mount, N.C.; four sons, Joseph and his wife, Anisa, of Columbus, Ohio, James of Blakeslee, Pa., Stephen and his wife, Joanna, of Farmingdale, Long Island, and Scott, Chief Petty Officer USN, and his wife, Regina, of Mount Vernon, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Valencia and Eva Grabert, both of Massachusetts; a brother, Angelo, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services and visitation will be private at the convenience of the family on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at the Connell, Dow and Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 311 Turner St., Suite 415, Utica, N.Y. 13501.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.

Gladys S. Lougheed

MILFORD — Gladys S. Lougheed, 88, formerly of Milford, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at the Presbyterian Home of CNY, New Hartford, following a lengthy illness.

She was born on July 27, 1914, in Pleasant Brook, the daughter of Leland and E. Beatrice Lake Squire.

Gladys had spent her early years in the Milford area, graduating from Milford High School. She later lived in Oxford for 10 years, Fairport and N. Chili for 17 years, moving to Canastota in 1980, to live with her daughter, Sally.

She had worked as a bookkeeper for Ballantyne Trailer Sales in Victor for several years, retiring in 1980.

Gladys enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and visiting with family. She was of the Protestant faith.

Gladys married George S. Lougheed on Nov. 27, 1931, in Oneonta. Mr. Lougheed died in 1963.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Donald and Kathryn Lougheed of Austin,  Texas, and Guy Lougheed of Moore Haven, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lee and Ronald Hibbard of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Sally and Douglas Linstruth of Canastota; seven grandchildren, Scott Lougheed, William Lougheed, Alison Rinner, Anne Genschaw, Therese Hitchcock, Alan Linstruth and Andrew Linstruth; 12 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Gladys was predeceased by a brother, Alvin Squire; and a sister, Ruth Schmuck.

At Mrs. Lougheed's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

Spring burial will be in Creekside Cemetery, Churchville.

In her memory contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Home of CNY, 4290, Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, N.Y. 13413 or the Madison County Office for the Aging, P.O. Box 250, Morrisville, N.Y. 13408.

Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota.

Corinne Roseboom

STAMFORD — Corinne Alberta Roseboom, 88, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully on Dec. 27, 2002, at Robinson Terrace in Stamford, where she had resided for the last 10 years.

She was born on Jan. 1, 1914, to George and Elsie Spencer of Bradford, Pa.

She married Paul J. Roseboom in Westford in 1930, and they were happily married for 52 years until Paul died in 1982. She was also predeceased by a son, James P. Roseboom of Naples, Fla.; and a daughter, Joyce M. Hitt of Apalachin; and four brothers, Charles, Eugene, Everett and Floyd Spencer.

She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Ernest Handy of Charlton, Paticia and Charles Kopfman of Stamford, Margaret and Robert Ottman of Remsen; daughter-in-law, Glory Roseboom of Naples, Fla.; and son-in-law, Gordon Hitt of Apalachin; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Walter Crase of North Fort Myers, Fla.

Corinne, Paul and their family lived in Milford for many years before moving to Florida. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, cook and seamstress, she worked at Bresee's Department Store in Oneonta for several years. After moving to Florida, she became a licensed Real Estate dealer, a licensed practical nurse, a Notary Public and served as Republican Committeewoman for her district. She was recognized for that service with a plaque from President Nixon.

Mrs. Roseboom will be remembered as a beautiful, warm, fun-loving, talented woman who loved her family and friends and enjoyed life.

Services will be private. She will be cremated and her ashes buried at a later date at Westford Cemetery, Westford.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Building Fund at Robinson Terrace, Harper Street, Stamford, N.Y. 12167.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Edward W. Brown

DAVENPORT — Edward W. Brown, 73, of Davenport passed away Dec. 29, 2002, after a lengthy illness, at his residence with his loving family at his side.

He was born June 4, 1929, in Campbell Hall, to Delbert and Lottie (Brown) Brown.

He was married to Deanna Marie (Dunn) Zuill on Dec. 22, 1967, at Little Britian.

Mr. Brown served three tours of duty in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. While serving in Germany, a cerebral aneurysm forced him to return to the U.S. and resign his military career at Fort Campbell, Ky.

He continued in civilian life as a mason contractor.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Deanna Marie Brown; loving stepchildren, Jeffrey Zuill and wife, Thelma of Bainbridge, Debra Morse and husband, Ralph of Ballston Lake, Randall Zuill and wife, Christina of Davenport, Glenn Zuill and wife, Karen of Davenport; brothers, Thomas Brown of Bonita Beach, Fla., and Jerry Brown and wife, Yvonne of Newburgh; a sister, Pauline Steenrod and husband, Lewis of New Windsor; and children, the Rev. William Brown of Statesboro, Ga., Edward Brown Jr. and wife, Irma of Remmington, Va., Dawn Brown of Augusta, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Steven Brown of Wilmington, N.C.; and 12 grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held later at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

Those who wish may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 31 Adams Ave., Endicott, NY 13760.

Arrangements are by Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, Oneonta.

James Ariel Cavan

DELHI — James Ariel Cavan, 87, a Delhi native and life-long area resident, passed away on Sunday evening, Dec. 29, 2002, at Robinson Terrace, Stamford.

The son of the late Earl A. and Sarah E. (Miller) Cavan, he was born Oct. 30, 1915, in Delhi, where he was a graduate of Delaware Academy, receiving his formal education at Rider University (Class of 1936), Lawrenceville, N.J., later marrying Hertha S. Anderson on Oct. 9, 1940, at Cabin Hill Church, Andes.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran (1943-46), he served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater.

An appliance repair technician, Mr. Cavan was employed for 25 years with the former R.J. Murdock Co., in Bloomville, where he lived for a number of years. Subsequently, he returned to Delhi in 1970, where he was an active member and longtime Secretary-Treasurer of the Community Church and was employed as a bookkeeper for the Delaware County Highway Department, retiring in 1984.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Hertha S. Cavan, (presently residing at Robinson Terrace); a daughter, Sigrid (Richard) Bligh, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; two sons, Bruce Cavan, Sunnyvale,  Calif., and David Cavan, Davenport, Iowa; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Stuart Cavan, Jacksonville, Fla.; several nephews and nieces.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday, Jan. 2, at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, when the family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m., and where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, by his pastor, the Rev. Paul Meisel.

Burial will be later in the Woodland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association will be appreciated.

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet & Son, Delhi.

Robert W. Fisk

WEST ONEONTA — Robert W. Fisk, 90, of West Oneonta died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born July 7, 1912, in Oneonta, the son of Eugene Charles Jr. and Grace Ruth Fisk.

Bob was a lifelong area resident graduating from Oneonta High School, the Class of 1930. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On June 28, 1958, he married Dorothy Louise Lasslett at the Main Street Baptist Church, Oneonta, with the Rev. George Thompson officiating.

In 1930, Bob began working for the Citizens National Bank and Trust and then with Key Bank retiring April 1969, due to failing health.

He enjoyed reading, photography, aviation and flying, camping, traveling and Biblical studies. He was also a violinist having played with the Bob Gardner orchestra. Bob was a member of the Word of Faith Fellowship and the Oneonta American Legion.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Louise Fisk, of West Oneonta; his three sons and daughters-in-law and his grandchildren, David James and Gail Fisk of Vestal, and their children, Jonathan and Rachel Fisk; Dr. John Mark and Faith Fisk of New Haven, Conn., and their children, Christianna Fisk and Alexi Grace; and Dr. Daniel Richard and Susan Fisk of Burke, Va., and their children, Matthew, Andrew and Michael Fisk; his mother-in-law, Louise A. Lasslett of Oneonta; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard H. and Janet Lasslett of Newfoundland, N.J.; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Charles Emerson and Marie P. Fisk.

Funeral and committal services will be held on Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at 3 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Frank MacCracken Sr., and the Rev. Frank MacCracken Jr., pastor of the Word of Faith Fellowship officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2 p.m. until service time.

Burial will be in the spring at the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.

Those who wish to make memorial donations may make them to Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820 in loving memory of Robert W. Fisk.

Funeral arrangements are by Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Robert J. Petzinger

PALM HARBOR, Fla. — Robert J. Petzinger, 69, of Delhi, N.Y., and winter resident of Palm Harbor Fla., passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at 9:55 p.m. at Meese Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Fla.

Mr. Petzinger was born Nov. 26, 1933, in Elizabeth, N.J., the son of Conrad and Thora (Stuart) Petzinger.

He was a Navy veteran from 1952-1956. A retired foreman with Ethylene Corporation in Murray Hill, N.J., after 34 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bernadette Rueter; and four children, son, Bob Petzinger of Clearwater, Fla.; three daughters, Pat Petzinger of Medusa, N.Y., Ginny Petzinger of Whitehouse, N.J., and Joan Pawlikowski of Delhi; five brothers, Tom and Ronald Petzinger, both of Clearwater, Fla., Charles Petzinger of Middlesex, N.J., Frank Petzinger of Poconos, Pa., Louis Petzinger of Piscataway, N.J.; one sister, Joan Graczyk of Egg Harbor, N.J.; seven grandchildren, Kelly, Katie and Maggie Adams, Sarah, Amber and Stanley Pawlikowski, and Robert F. Petzinger.

A brother; sister; and daughter, Kathleen Adams preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at 3 p.m. with visitation one hour before services at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Palm Harbor, Fla., Chapel. There will also be a memorial service held at a later date in Delhi.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Florida Sun Coast.

Funeral arrangements are by the Moss Feaster Funeral Homes.
