He retired in 1983 as a superintendent for the state Parks and Recreation Department in Poughkeepsie after more than 18 years. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fulton and Liverpool-Clay Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 951. He was an Army veteran of World War II.Survivors: His wife of 60 years, the former Ruth Parry; two sons, Arthur W. III of West Jordan, Utah, and Stephen M. of Fulton; two sisters, LucyAnn Bohannan of Hopewell, Va., and Mary Jane Preston of Fort Myers, Fla.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She was a registered nurse and co-owned Crisis RN in Parish with her husband for two years.Survivors: Her husband of almost 20 years, Brian; two sons, Rhys, a Marine stationed in Fort Meade, Md., and Blair, at home; her parents, Arnold and Joyce Clayton of England; a sister, Judy Duffy of Rochester; a brother, Vaughan Clayton of Canada. Jane Szatanek Florczyk, 66, of Syracuse died Monday at Loretto. She was a life resident of Syracuse. She was a secretary for the American Red Cross in Syracuse for 20 years. Richard R. Jenks, 51, of county Route 65, Bernhards Bay, died Tuesday. Born in Fort Ticonderoga, he lived in West Monroe 20 years before moving to Bernhards Bay five years ago. He graduated from Altmar-Parish-Williams-town High School. He was a truck driver for New Venture Gear in East Syracuse for four years and had also worked at Greyhound Bus Lines, Wal-Mart and Omega Wire in Williamstown. He was a member of Vanderbilt Snowmobile Club and was a Marine Corps veteran.Survivors: His wife of 29 years, the former Patricia Hilton; three daughters, Tonya Jenks-Sutton of Williamstown, Tricia and Alicia Jenks, both of Bernhards Bay; his parents, Wesley and Shirley Jenks of Star Lake; four sisters, Gwen Ashford of Aloha, Ore., Susan Burke of Parish, Bonnie Cleveland of Mexico and Marlene Orr of Orwell; two brothers, Gerald of North Carolina and Peter of Williamstown; two grandchildren. She retired in 1987 as a laboratory technician at Comstock Foods in Red Creek after 14 years. She had also worked at Sterling Co-Op and had owned and operated a dairy and poultry farm in Hannibal with her husband for many years. She was a member of Hannibal Community Church, Cato Senior Citizens and Hannibal Historical Society. Her husband, John, died in 1985. Survivors: Three daughters, Donna Defio of Fulton, Karen Gombas of Pennellville and Cindy O'Bryan of Red Creek; a son, John Jr. of Hannibal; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
